Konmari Whole Home Declutter: #16 Hair Accessories

Today I went through my Hair Accessories and decided what brought me joy using the KonMari Method. If you're not familiar with Marie Kondo and the KonMari Method I'll link the playlist below where you'll find an Intro video to explain the method. I hope this video provides some motivation for you to go through your hair accessories. Gather them up from all around your home and go through them and purge. This was such a satisfying feeling for me and I hope it will be for you too!

Hi guys welcome back to my channel journey to home sweet home, where I talk about everything to create a home and life that you love on a budget, and I am standing in front of my closet today, because I am going to be going through the hair Accessories today, if you watch my previous videos, you know that I'm going through the kamar method - and I just finished my girls, hair accessories and now I'm going to go through my hair accessories and just using the Kumari method. So without further ado, let's get right into it. Okay, so here I am in front of my dresser drawers and I am going to go through the drawer here, where I have a lot of like a Miss matte mix, match of things so like makeup, hair accessories. There'S some jewelry in there and up here I have some hair accessories and then in my closet and then in my drawer. So what I'm going to do is just go around gather up all my hair accessories. I think I have some in the bathroom as well. So one thing I want to say is: I am going to go through also the hair styling products - I don't know if I'm not talking about like mousse and hairspray, and all that I'm talking about the curlers and the blow dryers and accessories, and things like that. So I am going to go through them today as well. So I don't know if this is part of Murray's system like if this is included in this category, but I am including it in this category also too, because I want to get some of the stuff out of this drawer, and this is taking up a lot Of space, I don't really use this. These are heat curlers and you know being a mom of three. I just don't have the time anymore or to sit there and wait for you know these green and purple and blue curlers, which turn white to turn back to their color. In order for me to know that my hair is curled, I'd rather just buy a curling wand or a curling iron, and do it that way because really like I said I just don't, have the time. Okay, so here are some butterfly clips and I see a few more hair, I'm just going to grab those and I'm just going to put them all on the bed: okay and some more stuff here: okay and in my night dresser and on top of the night Dresser, okay, guys and I have some in the medicine cabinet, okay, along with my blow dryer and the medicine in the under the sink, and also in my purse. Okay, guys, we are in here micro now, and I have these two jewelry slash, hair accessory organizers, just like how I had my daughter's ones, so we're just going to lay them out on the bed and go through that. The only difference with this organizer is it's a canvas and net organizer and I find it held up better than the plastic ones. So none of the compartments are breaking so or ripping I mean so that's it. I'M going to take everything out and just start going through it taking everything out, and here is the complete everything I'm just going to go through this and purge whatever well decide what I'm going to keep what I love and what I'm going to keep and the Rest is gon na go on in the trash, so you want to show you guys something look at this. These are hair ties and that's really freaky. The more you stretch it. The more they're like it's like they're elastic is just I don't know. The rubber is just gone, so these are all going away. Okay, guys, here's what I'm left with! So that's it that's what I'm left with. I did keep all of my barrettes, because I do like to use them for my ponytails. I used to use them all the time, but I guess just being a mom of young kids, babies and young kids. I was always you know. I just always had the habit of putting my hair up in a ponytail, and that was what was easiest and the fastest. I am going to try these out just to see if they still fit my hair and if they work in my hair I'll keep them, because I really do like them. They are more stylish than say a ponytail holder. Okay, then I kept these little like it's clips, so just for decoration - and here you see it's like shiny, really nice shiny, oh no, it's not showing up in the camera very well, but it's very it's like a rhinestones in there and these ones are all sparkly. Okay, okay and then we have my blow dryer and accessories all of my combs. Now these are not all of my combs. These are extra combs and some of them. I keep in their swimming bags, some in my purse, some of the girls bags. Sometimes, when they're going, you know to sleep over at the grandma or you know something of that on an overnight trip with us things like that, so I'll keep extra combs and I do have a new package here so I'll be keeping that because you know combs Do break and and it's nice to just keep an extra set, so we can have it. One thing I like to do is just keep um. You know one or two extra things or packages of things, because when I don't know about you guys, I don't know if this happens to you guys, but whatever I'm like going out and it's a really important time - and I just don't have time to run out To the store of something break, that's when it will break that's when it will not work, so I like having an extra thing that makes me very happy because that lowers my stress okay, so you guys, let me know if that happens, to you guys. Excuse me guys, I'm still getting over this cop. It just won't go away, it's very persistent. Okay, then, these Hawaiian flowers, I'm going to pass these on to my daughters - and I know Marie says not to do that - not to pass it on to family members. But I think in this case it's okay, because they are my daughters and they are younger. So we're all in the same household and of course - and I know that the youngest one likes pink and she would love this. And I think it would look really good in their hair in the summertime yeah just to wear out or even like to go out. And then my older daughter likes blue well, this is orange, but I think she'll be fine with it she'd wear it so we'll see if she likes it, we'll keep it if not they're gone okay. These are my little butterfly clips. Just sometimes I use them just to clip my hair up these now these are, I don't know if you guys ever seen these. These are. These are for making buns in your hair. So you twist them. You know you make your bun and then you twist them like this kind of thing, and then they spiral into your hair. And it's supposed to you know you put one in one side and then the other one crisscross it kind of thing into the other side and it's supposed to keep your hair in place. I can't remember if it works for me. I don't know I'm going to try it again, and these are all my hair ponytail holders, my large hair pans and my small hair pins, and I went through these just to see which ones were you know missing. The heads, which ones had the heads kind of like like this, where it's really my camera could focus jagged here, so it would hook on your hair and really pull it coming out. Okay, then, but butterfly clips I like using these just around the house, to you, know, make a fast kind of bun or you know when I go into the shower just to hold my hair up. So these are what I found in my stash and in my purse of the kids stuff, so these are going to go in there they're things, I'm just going to add it to that. These were mine. These are too, you know kind of make a half ponytail pop up half. Do they don't really stay in my hair, so I'm gon na try it for my older daughter because she has much thicker hair, so it might work for her but, like I said her hair silky, so it might just slide out. I might have to just get rid of it: okay, I'm getting rid of these curly curlers. I really feel that I don't need these. I never use them like. Never! Never! I tried, I think, when my son was younger to use them, but they work for a little bit and you know I mean, like they curl your hair, but then the curls just come out. So my hair is but it's very silky, and so it doesn't hold a lot of styling very well like it doesn't hold curls very well. So when I try to curl my hair, it is naturally wavy but wavy too straight. So when I try to curl my hair, it really does not stay in there and even with styling products, and you know the curling styling products that you put in your hair first and then growing it. It still does not stay for an entire night. So if I go out for three hours in the night to a party or something by the time I get home, my curls are more waves and like really flat waves. So they just just don't look that great. So I'm getting rid of that and I think you know if I need to curl my hair I'll, try a curling iron or curling one but, like I said, even those I've done it with those as well and they just don't stay in my hair. So I'm getting rid of these hey they're, really stretched up all these packaging. I took the stuff out of the packaging. This comb was broken up. I don't know why I was keeping it. I think because it has wider teeth here, but I now have combs like I showed you that have whiter teeth, so that's going this got broke just recently like yesterday is pulled like pushing on it and it just broke. That'S going these old bobby pins. Now these, I don't know why I was keeping these. I don't know if you guys, can see that oops, but these are missing those black spots in there are all rhinestones that are missing now. I don't know why we keep that so going. Okay, these are broken out. If you can see it's cracked there they're crack to the side, they're worn out. I am - and I just don't - really use these anymore, so they are going. This one does not open see. Oh there, it open now. Okay, I might keep this before. It was an opening, but I might keep that. Okay, this is a uh-huh looks like a pencil, but it's actually for your bun. So it's missing the other part kind of like it looks something like this kind of thing, but just bigger it's missing that part. So that's going this broke. I hope you guys can see that the shell part broke or flour part. This is just write it up. Not write it up but like tarnishing or the paint is coming off. I should say: okay, so that's it guys, that's what I'm getting rid of all this stuff here that is going to my daughters and I am keeping those so I'm not going to get some containers and get them organized and back into the drawers. I think I am going to keep it in that drawer over there if they all fit so I'll, be back to show you guys. Okay, guys, I just want to quickly show you what I did so in this short still does not look pretty, because I need to you know, go through these things that are around it, but the hope is that, eventually, as I'm going through these things, then the Drawer will look decent and everything else in the house will look decent, okay, so bear with me. I'Ve just done some simple organization. I just had some Tupperware that we're missing with in the kitchen, so I just went ahead - puts them in here. So these are helping all my big butterfly clips. These are housing, my hair ties and then clips barrettes and butterfly smaller, butterfly clips and the hair pins, which actually do work to make bugs, and this really simple guide. So you want an easy way to just make a quick bun, that's a great product and baggies for now, until I can get you know starting to organize this, I have a few ideas on how I want to organize that and then we'll see what works. My brush and my comb, I'm going to house in here they were in the washroom. Now I'm going to see if this works, because especially for this big round brush, I might move that back to the washroom, just because that's usually where I comb my hair and probably the combs will go eventually go there. I'M not sure yet because that's like I said that's where I call my and my blow dryers there as well. Okay, so that's it for this drawer! This is bullying in our hall closet with all the rest of our extra supplies and toiletries, and I can stuff - and this is going for donate donating, so I have a box downstairs for donate like stuff for donating, so I'm going to put it in there. This is going all recycling. I added some books in here that were on the dresser over there, so just cleared it up a little bit, so it looks a little bit better but yeah. That'S always the Eclipse and stuff, and I end up throwing away a bit more okay, so I'm just gon na go the washroom. I show you what I did okay, so we are in my washroom and I just replaced the hook because the blow dryer was on this hook. But if the hook broke and I took leave, this is a 3m hook and I took the top part off because the top part slides off, so you can stick the back to it, whatever surface you're sticking it to so I just I had an extra one And I put it on and then I was able to hang the bow dryer. Okay, so that's gon na stay there and I really like using the doors this one is not being utilized right now, so you guys can see what I mean by unused. I organized spaces. Okay, this is going to go in there. I know it's kind of busy looking, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to label it so that I know that I went through it already and I just need to basically organize it after okay, there's that this saw how I went through. All of my hair accessories - it does not take very long if you spend a few hours, maybe one to two hours, depending on how many hair accessories you have. You can really get this done and in no time so I am now going to go through my jewelry next and I hope that you guys found this video motivational to go through your stuff in declutter.
