Hey guys welcome back to my Channel or welcome if you are new here here, we are again yet another Bond repair product has hit the market, but this launch is not quite like the other launches we have seen over the past couple of years. It'S especially interesting because it was actually created by one of the original inventors of olaplex and he's claiming that his brand is even better. So in today's video we are going to be chatting all about this new brand that I actually don't quite know how to properly pronounce yet. So the creator of the brand, who was the original inventor of olaplex or one of them, which we'll get into his name, is Eric Presley, so uh press. I was thinking it was a conjunction like that, but I actually think it may be pronounced a prey. I just said that so weird epray, so we're going to be talking all about epre, including what it is, how it's supposed to work, why it is allegedly better than olaplex my initial thoughts after using the treatment for the past two weeks, plus a a very interesting Email that I received from the former CEO of olaplex about this new brand, so, let's dive on in all right. What is a prey? What do they claim to be? What are they claiming to do here? A prey was created by world-renowned material scientist, Eric Presley PhD and claims to be the future of high performance hair care, whether used at home or in the salon. Appraised, patent-pending, one-step, Bond repair technology delivers professional level, consistently Superior results, or so they say their Innovative Sprite. On hair treatment delivers deep, lasting repair for chemical thermal and mechanical damage. It'S acid free, patent-pending formula, actively re-bonds hair structure. The formula continues to diffuse repair through each strand for hours after application using biodiffusion technology. Like I mentioned in the intro. The marketing for this brand has been very interesting to watch from afar because, unlike what we have seen from other brands over the past couple of years, where, let's be honest, they're really just trying to recreate what olaplex has already done. This instead said was created by the inventor of olaplex himself, with the sole purpose of making something that is even better than olaplex or Superior to olaplex, to use their own words. All of the articles that I initially read about this launch. It talked about how the inventor and scientist behind olaplex Eric Pressley left oldaplex, to make something, even better. So after seeing all of those articles that were saying things like that, I made this Tick Tock that I'm about to show you just kind of react to the Articles and let you guys know that I had purchased the product and was going to be testing it Out so I wanted you to stay tuned, I had a feeling that that video would gain quite a bit of traction, because it's not every day that we see the inventor of a brand that really revolutionized the Hair Care space leave to create something of their own. That'S even better, so I wasn't surprised to see that video get a lot of views. I was surprised to see that that video caused me to receive an email from the former CEO of olaplex in my inbox. I didn't see that one coming and, of course I did make sure that it was okay for me to share these emails. He actually specifically said yes, you can always share the truth. So, let's just read through this hi Abby, I hope all is well. I saw your Tick Tock post and felt compelled to reach out to you. I am Dean Cristal, the founder of olaplex, I about spit out my morning, coffee when I read that I sold the company a few years ago, but deeply care about the corrective Narrative of the brand. Of course, without your knowledge, Eric Presley of epret is claiming to be the sole inventor of olaplex. This is not true. His Professor, Dr Craig Hawker, and I met 10 years ago, and the concept for olaplex was born later. He brought his student and employee Eric into the fold and they shared inventorship on all patents. Craig Hawker is a listed inventor on all patents and IP Craig testified in our trials versus L'Oreal. As the inventor and scientist of olaplex Eric testified under oath. That Craig was the inventor of olaplex in those trials. As I'm understanding, I do not want to sound Petty, but I have told this story during many interviews. Honesty and integrity have been key to my life. I cannot knowingly allow someone to change the olaplex story for profit. I respect both of these people, but one should never take credit for another's work. It'S just wrong. Thanks for reading London said hi Dean. Thank you for the email to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. Dr Craig Hawker invented olaplex and then later Eric became involved. Do you mind if I share this? This was his response. I met Craig Hawker from UCSB. He had a concept for the invention. He brought Eric his ex-student slash employee into the mix. They shared ideas, Craig split the patents with Eric 5050. Craig would never say who did what he's a sharing person? My guess is that he meant he's not a sharing person. Eric'S narrative has been that he, and only he, invented the bond building category and was the scientist and inventor behind olaplex. This is false and well documented, with a patent office and in the courts, olaplex was truly a giant team effort that involved countless hair stylist to create the bond building category for one person to claim responsibility is ridiculous Beyond Comprehension and then that's where he said. Yes, you can always share the truth, so I was like I will so at first I was like well maybe it's just the authors of these news articles is trying to come up with something headline worthy, and so it's really a mistake on their behalf and not Something coming directly from this new brand, but when I received my apprec, why is it so hard for me to say that word when I received my package in the mail? I realized that it was actually coming from the brand directly and, of course I cannot find the original packaging for the life of me. I think I might have tossed it, but I found a post on their Instagram that has exactly what the packaging stated. So it says: meet our founder. Pioneering chemist, Eric Presley PhD invented the bond building category for hair now with apra he's introducing the next generation of high performance hair care, and I wish I took screenshots of their website before I received this email from Dean, because now I can't find any of those Claims on their website, so I'm wondering if some legal action is taking place behind the scenes and they're trying to clean things up on their end unsure. So it seems like there has been some shadiness and stretching of the truth in apres initial marketing strategy, because Eric was not the only person involved in the creation of olaplex or the entire Bond building category. Like the brand stated, I obviously don't know the full story or full truth, and admittedly, the former CEO of olaplex doesn't either because, like he said, Dr Craig never specifically said who did what? So while we don't know exactly what happened behind the scenes, we do know that Eric was not the sole inventor of olaplex. However, he was definitely involved in the creation of olaplex in some way and because of that, that is why he is saying that he has created something even better. So let's talk about why it's supposed to be better than olaplex, I will say that epre does not explicitly call out olaplex on their website, but I've kind of like read between the lines on figured out where they are saying that they're better without saying the name. Olaplex, so the first reason is that epray is only one step. Compare that to olaplex, which now has this huge line of products that does feel overwhelming. Epray is supposed to be simple and easy to use, because it's just one product and one step, it's acid free. So it won't disturb the pH of any chemical services that you receive at the salon it uses biodefusion. So it continues to repair the hair, even after it's dry, which is definitely a very big differentiator between epre and olaplex, because olaplex only works in your hair. While your hair is wet and once your hair dries, it stops working so that I think was kind of like a subtle nudge and then last they just say faster results because of this patent pending technology and it's like faster than what faster than olaplex. So it definitely sounds great and it definitely sounds like an upgrade to olaplex, but obviously you have to try it and test it out to see. If that is true, let's talk about how to use it. This is what came in my upright package. I got this spray bottle right here and this little box, which contains two vials of liquid or the epray solution. That'S what you get, thankfully, it's really easy to use, though, and you can't really mess it up. All you do is take one vial of liquid. Pour it into the spray bottle and then fill the rest of the spray bottle up with water? Actually, now that I think about it, I almost did mess this up because I almost put too much water into it and then it would have poured over and I would have lost liquids, so maybe don't go full force with your faucet. Do like a little bit at a time to make sure that it doesn't overflow, but then, after that, you will just spray a generous amount of this onto your hair. It has a really really nice fine Mist that distributes nice and evenly it's not one of those. It'S like, and just like, sticks to one piece of your hair, so that makes it easy to spray a generous amount until your hair is full saturated, which is what they recommend. They suggest leaving it on your hair for 10 minutes or more, but the technology does continue to work for as long as you have it in your hair. So they do say that you can spray and go or spray and sleep in it. And then, after that, you are supposed to cleanse and style your hair as usual, and you can use this one to two times per week to restore softer stronger, healthier hair. So, in summary, this is a pre-wash treatment and not something that you're supposed to use after shampoo, like you would, with the olaplex number three treatment or K18. Actually, I guess olaplex number three is technically a pre-shampoo treatment as well, but the brand has since said that you'll see even better results. If you clarify your hair first, so clarify olaplex, number three then shampoo again, so it's kind of a hassle to use in that way. This is supposed to work by just spraying it on your hair before washing leaving it on for as long as you'd like and that's it all right. Let'S take a look at my results after using app pray for the past two weeks. So here is my hair. Before just for reference, obviously it's not incredibly damaged. I take really good care of my hair, but at the same time there's still bleach in my hair there's still dye, I use heat on my hair. That means it's still damaged and I can always make room for more repair, and here is what my hair looked like after using this one time, there's obviously not a huge visual difference here, but I will say that I definitely did feel a difference in the texture Of my hair, it felt incredibly soft and smooth, and I would say the thing that I noticed the most is that my hair looked insanely Sleek, no flyaways, no frizz. All of my split ends, which I obviously, of course have the bleach hair at the end. Oh, my gosh, all of that looks tamed and I feel, like my hair looked like I got a Brazilian keratin treatment or something it was just so smooth. So that was my initial impression. I was definitely excited to test it out a second time. I was wondering if I would see even further benefit in just that second use, but I feel, like I didn't, really see a difference from the first use to the second use. My hair still looked nice, it's shiny, it's soft. It feels healthy, but really no major. Difference between weeks, one and two for me, and between weeks one and two I did still notice a couple pieces of breakage, which is something that I always notice. Because again, I have a lot of bleach in my hair at the ends from it being over processed a couple years ago. So while I'm not seeing a hundred pieces of breakage every time that I brush my hair, I still notice, I would say, like a few pieces throughout the week, that I mean that's inevitable when you have bleached hair. So I did still see that it's not like that prevented that from happening after one use. So while my initial thoughts are positive, I do definitely need to give this more time in order to give you my full final thoughts on epray and how well it worked for me, I feel, like that's only fair when testing out new Bond repair products, because, while The initial results can definitely be telling in either a positive or negative Direction. It'S not going to tell the full story, because products like this do need time to fully work on the hair and allow you to see a full transformation if you will so while I definitely wanted to get this video up now to explain what this brand is. Why it's supposed to be better than old Plex share some of my initial thoughts. I definitely will be filming an update in a couple of months. My plan at this time is to use epray for two months without using any other Bond repair products and then Circle back to show you my final results and share my final thoughts. In the meantime, I will be reaching out to the brand directly to ask some questions that I have about this product. I want to ask if this is similar to olaplex and K18, where you'll see better results. If you clarify first, I also want to ask how they think this brand compares to K18, because at this point in time I still feel like K18 is more powerful, because in the description of epray they say that this rebonds, the hair. So it rebuilds broken bonds, which is what olaplex does the vibe I'm getting from. This is that this is better than olaplex, but maybe not better than K18, because they don't say anything about this: rebuilding the entire keratin chain of the hair, which is the advantage that K18 has over olaplex. So I'm gon na ask them about that. If this product is actually supposed to rebuild that keratin chain, so that I can get you guys more information on that. But let me know in the comments below if there are any questions that you have about this product, that you would like me to ask the brand I'll make sure to read through these comments and send them all of the questions that you guys are wondering as Well, so that when I post that update video, I can share a lot of answers with you, then as well. All right, you guys we are going to wrap up this video here. Those are all of my initial thoughts on epre and I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments Below. Have you tried this brand? What has your experience been so far? Are you interested in this brand? Are you not interested? Let me know we'll chat in the comments below super curious to hear your thoughts, but if you did enjoy the video you know the drill, please don't forget to give this a thumbs up subscribe. If you haven't already click on that notification Bell and send my channel to a friend, thank you so much for doing those things. Your support means the world. Thank you for watching my videos. I love the freaking heck out of you guys, make sure to stay tuned for my next one, because that will be up in a few days. But until then I hope you have a great few days.

Jedi Bunny: *THE TEA!* I never could’ve imagined the fascinating intricacies of drama underlying this sort of story, but then again, business, invention, science, and consumer products are indeed all extensions of the human mind, and with that comes inherent human drama! Great coverage as always, Abbey. Very much appreciate you and your channel and have been learning more about my hair (and the science of it) via your work. _Thank you._

Crys Wimmer: I am glad to see more and different products coming out for hair repair. The competition can only be good for increasing the standard and bringing down our cost. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date.

Justprettymakeup: Just adding my two cents here. A close relative recently earned her PhD in bio chemistry. It is pretty clear watching the process that the students do the majority of the work inventing new technology and testing it in countless lab experiments.while the professor oversees and gives guidance. If it is successful. I think it’s pretty typical for the professor to receive most or all of the credit especially when it comes to publishing in peer review journals and patents. Basically I believe it was probably a collaborative effort when it comes to the original Ola Plex

Jan McMahon: I bought the entire Olaplex line 4 years ago and it only marginally improved my platinum blonde hair. The Redken Acidic Bonding line completely changed my hair in a way no other line has done. Have added the K18 product and my hair has never been better. Thanks so much for testing these out for us all

Hurrstard like Mustard: THE DRAMA OF ALL THIS IS FASCINATING and i love how you dove and introduced us to that as well. Fantastic content as always

melanie huff: Well you may not be convinced yet about Epres, but your hair looked particularly great today! I am intrigued by this product because I can do all my usual post wash things, whereas with the others, I couldn't do my post wash mask or leave ins and I have never been as happy with my hair on those days.

C G: I bought Epres, and this is my second time using it. It’s so moisturizing for me! Plus they wrote a little thank you note on my invoice. I thought that was sweet ❤

Abby Courtney: I just found out Herbal Essences advertises their products (especially their bio:renew line) as pH balanced. I found a website that tested their pH levels and they seemed to be quite low (some between 3.5-4). I would be interested to see what you think of this line as a potentially good drugstore option for shampoo and conditioner!

CherryEly06: Question: after you mix the solution with water, how long can it stay in the container? Meaning, if you haven't used up an entire mix, can you just keep it in the container for the next use or does it somehow expire, evaporate over time? And if you can store it, does it need to have some sort of temperature conditions, like store it in the fridge or just room temp.?

sovrappensiero1: I think he meant what he said: Craig Hawker is a sharing person. Meaning he is collaborative - he shares ideas, shares credit, and otherwise acknowledges group or partnership effort. This contrasts with a person who claims sole ownership or inventor ship, etc. A lot of academics are “sharing people” in this sense.

StarPanda7: Fun fact. Sally Beauty supply passed on having Olaplex in their stores. I mean the pro stuff too. I was a manager there at the time it came out 2014/2015 ish. At the time these mens names were not tied to Olapex idk why. Very strange. Or at least the reps that talked to us did not mention them ever. They said it was a woman behind Olaplex. I don't remember her name. Probably in an old email somewhere.

Jenni D: Did you continue to use k18 in your wash routine while testing this or did you remove that step for this test? Love your videos, you are completely changing the way I treat my poor hair!

Karla Hallows: Can’t wait for the results. Definitely interested in purchasing since it’s much more affordable compared to K18

Di Nurse: Hello Abbie, I love your channel and I have learned so much about my hair through your teachings. I started using Epres this past Sunday . I have never used anything for bonding repair for my hair. So far I love the result. My hair is soft, shiny, healthier. For reference, I have fine, brittle hair with highlights and dye.

Khalilah D.: I love olaplex so I’m quite interested to see if this is truly better than the original. Definitely looking forward to trying it ❤ it’s insane you for an email from the actual founder of Olaplex

Mauri Leigh: I think I'm going to stick to my K18/Olaplex routine until I hear your final thoughts. I am obsessed with my current routine, but this sounds like something I might like to add or possibly replace my Olaplex. Thanks, Abbey!!

Rebecca Stoeffler: Your hair looks amazing all the time but it looks even more WOW now. I decided to order the Epres this morning. I signed up for email notifications and got free shipping ($7 off). I just purchased the refill kit since I already own a spray bottle that looks identical to theirs. I've been using Olaplex for the past few months and while I love it, it would be nice to have something less time consuming. I also like that Epres can be airborne, unlike Olaplex. Thank you so much for your deep dive into all of this. You're the best! Oh yes! I forgot to add that it's already shipped!

N.A. J: I just got mine in the mail and really like it so far, but it’s just been a few hours on my hair. I didn’t feel like olaplex was worth the hype. Too many steps and products. That’s why my hair stylist stopped using it. I’ll definitely tell her about epres. Hoping epres comes out with a shampoo and conditioner too!

sovrappensiero1: I kind of wonder if Epres will evolve to include extra hair products that “make the treatment work even better.” I mean, that’s what happened with Olaplex. I think the original treatment was a few steps done in the salon, and the No. 3 for maintenance…they just keep adding more steps to get more profits. I’m not convinced that any of those other steps actually improve the way No. 3 works…I think that’s the way they chose to expand and increase revenue and maintain consumer interest. Is it the only way? I don’t know. Maybe it is, especially if they don’t funnel some revenue into R&D (and I don’t know if they do or not).

LIZZYONSTAGE: DETECTIVE ABBEY!!!! ❤❤❤ I love how you dive so deeply into this! I’d love to know how it stacks up to K18 or the living proof too! Is it silicone free? It just repairs bonds or actually rebuilds the hair? Anything that causes it to stop working? What if we get caught in the rain? Sounds weird but How do we ensure our hair is saturated enough? Love you abbey!!!!

Katarina: Your hair is so pretty, I feel like you did did something different! Also I'm excited to know your results without using k18!

Rebecca P: Sally Beauty came out with their own line of Olaplex and would love if you did a comparison video!

Christina Origel: I think it's interesting that you fill the bottle with tap water because the mineral content in tap water differs from region to region. I wonder if the existence of certain minerals, or lack thereof, in someone's tap water could impact how the product performs? Maybe filling the bottle with distilled water would be the best option.

Isobel: Thanks for this video, I'll have to test it out! Your color is looking so good lately more natural fits your complexion so well. Also I'd love if you could review bioprogramming, they have both bleach that cause no damage and is healing according to their founder, as well as heat tools and blowdryer that makes your hair better to more you use it very fascinating, It recently hit the market in America and lots of hair stylist have started to use it

Lynn I: I love watching your videos. I'm especially interested in your content on hair care. You're hair is so beautiful and that could be problematic when you're testing out how well hair products repair and improve hair. Not a terrible problem to have of course but it can make a test and reveal experiment a little difficult as results will be mild since its hard to show any drastic improvement on already gorgeous hair. I'm wondering if you've considered using volunteer models with less fortunate hair quality to help show the effects of various products. Of course I love that you use the products yourself and report on the experience because you're obviously pretty knowledgeable and your input wouldn't be complete without first hand account. I just feel from the viewpoint of someone with horribly straw-like hair ends (the result of bleaching followed by a recent amd unfortunate hair curling mishap), I feel like seeing transformation from brittle and damaged to soft and repaired would be more telling. Again, I love your content and I'm hopeful that some of your hair journey suggestions will help my once soft and sleek hair return to its former state some day. Keep the awesome videos coming!

Connie: Wow, fascinating story! Thanks for sharing it in a very balanced way, Abbey. I have been using Olaplex, hadn't heard of this brand, but it does make me think twice before buying from a brand whose ethics I question.

Brittany Wilson: Your hair looks so good styled this way!!!!!!! Love all your content. I don’t have damaged hair yet still hang on your every word!!!

Embodied Singer: Amazing, thorough review as always! After getting a sample of Olaplex 3, I've been diving into learning about bond repair. SO grateful for all the education you've provided! I've been on the verge of getting K18 (that price point tho...) and now I'm leaning towards trying this first for both price point (though I'm unclear on how price per use stacks against K18) and the ease of use. The need to shampoo before and after Olaplex is a big turnoff.

Kia: Thanks for the update Abbey! I can’t wait for the full review in a couple months! ❤

Michael Halbritter: As it is intended for pre-wash use, does it work when hair is coated with product (e.g, styling products like texturizing sprays, oil in the ends, heatprotectants containing silicone etc)? K-18 specifically requires clean hair as does Olaplex and it makes perfectly sense if the product should work deep in the hair...Did they say anything about that?

Mel P: Thanks abbey! I just purchased the k 19 and am trying Friday. I luckily bought their clarifying shampoo also . So my question to “ apres” would be do I need to use a clarifying every time , and if so, which brand do they suggest? Or are they releasing a clarifying shampoo soon, to make this more of a 2 step deal ?? Stay warm, we just finally got Fall here, but am wondering about snow in Chicago?? Stay safe.

Jason Winkler: I immediately bought after seeing your tik tok!!! I had a couple questions for Epres and they were super responsive. Their most notable answer that I found was you can keep the mixture for up to two months, which is great for people with short hair who may not use the entire mixture in one treatment. Love love your channel and everything you do

Amber Matthews: Oh my, what a fun video! Love me some industry gossip. Also, your hair looks freaking amazeballs here! I mean your hair always looks lovely, but it definitely looks healthier and fuller at the time of this video being filmed.

jadedhuneyy: its been a ritual for me to watch your videos every time you upload when im doing my routine in the morning ☺️ loved the vid, i dont even use olaplex or any bond repair but here for the drama, especially hearing the overall business/law side of it

Ms O: If I could replace my two step Olaplex and k18 alternating schedule with just one product I’d be sorely tempted to try it. I look forward to you sharing your thoughts on this in the future.

Priscila Esteva: Im intrigued for sure I’m excited to try it out, I hope it hits salon supply stores

KZ: I feel like the ease of use is a big plus. I’ve never used K18 because I have a chronic illness and it would just be too much hassle to add to my shower routine, which is why I’ve been so interested in Epres (plus I have virgin hair that I only heat style a few times a year so my hair is really healthy, but I still like to do something extra for my hair). It just seems so much easier to use than K18 or Olaplex, and it’s fragrance free so I don’t have to go to the lengths I used to to keep Olaplex off my skin while I was using it. If K18 came out with a pre-shampoo treatment I’d be all-in but for now I just can’t stop my shower midway through for anything. Excited to try Epres!

Tracey Trotter: That is SO cool to be contacted by the creator! So to speak. I would be so excited. Interesting to hear the history of the company and how it progressed etc. I don't think I would ever sell the rights to something I created. And Olaplex seems better than Epres so far...

Em: Amazing! Thank you Abbey! I was wondering whether you could do a review of the two different K18 masks? I've read the ingredient lists but don't really understand why they're different. So the K18 Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask and the K18 Professional Molecular Repair Hair Mask, which I guess is for salon use but much cheaper? And then maybe also the K18 Professional Molecular Repair Hair Mist? Would love to see that!

Anni Schwans: Hey Abbey! Would you mind explaining how you use this product? Like on wash day or the night before, how long you leave it in before cleansing, etc. Like do you think you can you spray and leave it in for multiple days before cleansing or is it more like sleep on it and then wash it out in the morning?

Leslie Shchegolev: Honestly I think The Who created what part is just semantics. Olaplex is seeing their market share shrinking with k18 and now this and they are getting scared. So anything to discredit a new brand is paramount for them.

EJ Haqqi: I've never used any of the bond building products because I don't color my hair and only use the most minimal heat styling tools. I do have naturally wavy/curly hair and am getting a few grays. I'm really curious if something like this would make any difference on my textured, dry, somewhat frizzy but not really damaged hair? The drama is what it is and I'll be interested to see how it plays out Thanks for all your hard work!

Shandel Stovell: I wouldn't be inclined to purchase from this new brand if they are indeed blatantly lying. Turn off. UNLESS it was the bloody unicorn of haircare and magically made my hair how it used to be, I'd have a hard time giving the brand my money. ha ha

Sweat With Abby: Love your videos!! Not a fan of k18… I feel like it over proteinized my hair which made it brittle and fall out… never had that issue with Olaplex but now wondering what this would do…? Questions for Epres: So I’m confused.. I saw you spray Epres on dry hair… is that right? Clean dry hair? Clean damp hair? Thanks!

Jennifer Lynn: It seems Epres’ marketing strategy can be categorized as “misleading by omission” - Eric is AN Olaplex inventor, but not THE Olaplex inventor. He’s not exactly lying by saying he invented Olaplex - but the whole truth would be that he collaborated to create Olaplex. You are right: we were not there, and for all we know, Craig was struggling in the area of discovery, and his protégée Eric was indeed responsible for one or more of the definitive advances leading to Olaplex. We’ll never know if he was riding Craig’s coattails, or if Craig was credited for work that entailed only modest contributions on his part. I’m as repulsed by marketing ploys as anyone else, but it should surprise no one that this is the norm where marketing is concerned - and even more so in the lucrative beauty industry. Most companies make exaggerated claims about their products, slant the “results,” etc. It seems to me THOSE practices are far more egregious than inflating a creator’s resume. I don’t know that the inventor credit distinctions matter where Epres is concerned, though, because the reality is that Eric did have access to the brain-trust and ground-breaking research behind the invention of the revolutionary hair reparative product known as Olaplex. In other words, he was privy to the process, insights and discoveries which took place - and these advantages positioned him to springboard into developing even more sophisticated hair care products. It’s fair to suggest that because he was at the vanguard of bond-repair work, he’s studied the best of the science as long as anyone in the field. I would add that marketing claims - while possibly condoned by Eric - are not the equivalent of him stating outright that he alone invented Olaplex. We don’t know how the company producing Epres is structured, whether a board of directors signs off on marketing strategy, which entity is responsible for hiring the marketing firm, or the restrictions Erik might be under as to public statements he’s able to make given he’s likely answerable to investors. Such legal issues can be very complex, and personally I feel it’s inappropriate to entangle a well-meaning beauty YouTuber in a corporate pissing match. These intrigues are beyond your ability to get to the bottom of, and I caution you to not allow anyone to exploit you as their mouthpiece for matters which have nothing to do with the efficacy of a product. ps - I agree with others who note your hair looked especially sleek and vibrant today.

Balan: It’s weird that while the epres website explains why it’s better than Olaplex, it doesn’t go into how it works. You usually see higher end bond building products have the tech heavily marketed.

BRENDA R: Abbey, thanks for all the information. I do have a question though- since the purity of tap water can be deeply questionable, would purified, spring or distilled water be more beneficial for the EPRES efficacy? I usually don't think about it but where this liquid is mixed at home & sits in the bottle for an elongated period- I worry that some tap water may have a neutralizing effect.

Jess S: I'm super interested in this, but not feeling the sketchy start. After being realllly into Olapex for a couple years, I realized that I liked the immediate results, but it didn't last. I am curious about how long the Epres bond repair lasts after you stop using the treatment.

V. Gil: Fantastic video, Abbey! You are my go-to beauty journalist: your videos are so thorough and informative. I hadnt even heard of Epres until I watched your video. So I would be curious to know 1) Whether the Epres product is more comparable to Olaplex 1, 2 (the salon only products), or Olaplex 3? 2) And also: Why is it a spray when Olaplex expressly says not to spray Olaplex 1 onto hair? 3) Why dont they need to break it down into 2 steps (a la Olaplex 1 + 2)?

Joeleen: I’m not a fan of Olaplex - never did anything for my hair. Just bought the K18 and Living proof on your recommendations so hopefully I like those more.

Kathleen: Abbey, have you seen the new bondbar products at Sally's? Each product is only $10 and I'm wondering if they're dupes for Olaplex!

Deb Murray: EDIT - The ingredients are under the product description on the Epres product site: Ingredients: diethylhexyl maleate, oleyl alcohol, alcohol denat., stearamidopropyl dimethylamine Original comment: Has anyone been able to find the ingredient list of Epres? I cannot find it on their site or any where else. I did notice that Epres does not claim "gluten free" which Olaplex does. I cannot use any products with gluten. K18 contains wheat :( so that product is out. I won't even try Epres until I have seen an official ingredient list. The fact that it is not easily found says a lot to me - not good.

Natalie J: Your hair looks so gorgeous in this video

Liz Cademy: A couple things Abbey didn't mention: Price: $48 with the spray bottle and 2 vials. 2 vials (refill) is $34 The ingredients list on the website is very short: diethylhexyl maleate, oleyl alcohol, alcohol denat., stearamidopropyl dimethylamine None of these look like a bond repair ingredient, and the alcohol might be drying. I would love to see a full breakdown of the complete ingredients list. I'm also suspicious of the "no acid" claim. What's the product's pH? For the moment, my hair is happy with Olaplex, so I see no reason to try something new, especially from a shady founder.

Eunice Gourgel: How often should you use it? With K18 you use it for 6 weeks in a row then sparingly, similar with Olaplex. How does Epres compare with the frequency vs price?

Lacey Ciaravino: Mix it with water….like from your faucet?! They couldn’t formulate the whole thing for the consumer with stability to keep it from growing bacteria? Anything mixed with even highly purified water will only last a maximum of 1 month. Do you go through a bottle in a month?

DaybyDay: I would buy it just for the simplicity.... I have never used olaplex because of the overwhelming amount of product and steps and there no way in hell I'm doing it, I hardly have time for a shower these days lol.

State of Kait: This was so interesting! I appreciate how thorough you are.

Farrah Hope ASMR: I’ve been waiting for this video after spending $200 on Olaplex and K18 products in the last 2 weeks-then I read about epres!

Linda Barr: excited to hear your 2 month review…you’re so thorough…thanks from hairdresser’s everywhere

StoryOfThisGirlxx: I’ve used Epres twice and my hair is so soft!! K18 and Olaplex have never been able to make my hair this soft!

Brooke DeMartino: Great investigative work Abby!! Love your channel keep up the great work

Em M: I’ve tried a few of the newer bond builders (Living Proof Triple Bond Complex being the most recent) and I just don’t find them as good as Olaplex. It’s still the OG for me. I use No 2 (clarify first, No 2, then shampoo out).

Beverley: Omg I was not expecting a side of tea with this review I'm here for it though

Nora Salas: Is the second vial the same solution, as in a refill? I’m interested in the brand’s thought process in doing two small vials and not making the spray bottle larger with one vial of solution. I would lose the second tiny vial before I needed it.

Brooke Spiker: This whole fit and makeup and hair style is her LOOK

scampiec: I just started using Olaplex no 3 and K18 a couple of weeks ago so I can't say if it has helped yet. But I really dislike the process of applying both products to my hair. My hair is really fragile and the process of trying to distribute the products throughout is not easy. In particular K18, I don't think I would buy it again because it's so difficult to evenly distribute. I think this product would be better for the type of hair I have. Thanks Abbey.

Laura Pritchett: super curious for your long term results!! can’t wait to see

Lissette Vélez: Abby, Which shampoo and conditioner did you use after Epres?

Meechmo: Abbeeeeey! Please review the Coco and Eve bond building pre-shampoo treatment. It’s $25 for 4.2 oz

Andrijana: I just yesterday bought my first olaplex I haven't yet tried k18 as well so I feel there is a long time before I get to this new one... Hope they resolve the drama till then

Jen: Hi! I hope you see this message. If you could please find out how long the vials should last. For example k18 gives a rough estimate on how many uses you can get with each bottle. While I know it may vary due to how much hair one has, if we could get an estimate. Also, can it be applied after washing? Like a leave in post wash. Thanks!

Kelly Burnett: What is the cost of Apres ? Also could you maybe ask how it performs on greying hair ? I love that you do these deep dives...I wish these kind of product's were around when I was much younger, as I have always had long hair and it never looked even half as good as yours...also, way back then I shampooed every day..we know better now. ❣️

Elizabeth Smith aka elizabethpaintshernails: I want to know if it helps with gray hair issues (no damage from color bleach or other treatments except minimal heat). Olaplex has helped smooth the texture of my hair, which went from minimal frizz to 'what the hell happened to my hair' frizz.

dreamweaber: I'm no scientist, but there's a reason brand's like K18 & Olaplex reccomened clarifying your hair before use. I don't understand how this could be effective as a pre wash with product buildup (like silicone) in the hair from the previous week...

DazzFire - Rhiannon: Another excellent video! You've definitely become my hair guru! I can't wait for the follow-up ^_^

Jessica G: Would love a tutorial on this styling

ohbaananaa: Have you been hearing or reading up on the Dry Shampoo recall recently in regards to high levels of benzene ? Thoughts ?

Jennifer Dobrowolski: What about using this prior to shampoo and still using K18 after? Can you use the two together?

Alexis Wilsey: YOUR HAIR!! I love the way you styled it!! What method was this style?

Polk High #33: Olaplex was ground breaking, but have been left in the dust within the category. I'm glad other people and brands haven't rested on their laurels. K18, Epres, and Living Proof have superior products now. Only time will tell if they use the same business model of using the same active ingredient and just putting it in different bases and creating more SKU's. I hope they continue to broaden the technology in the category.

misbell27: Thanks for the info and the TEA! Your hair looks amazing in this video BTW!

Nat Mya: Genuine questions: 1) Why does your hair in your before and after photos look a completely different colour to what it is in this video? It literally looks bright blonde in the before and afters when you have actually had your hair medium blonde for a long while now. 2) How can you possibly judge efficacy of any product when you constantly switch and change for short periods of time and also use some products simultaneously or in such close proximity?

Elisabeth Irwin: I’d be curious to know if this gives better results if you spray it into wet hair. I’ve been trying it out myself and every time I do it I feel like spraying it directly on dry hair prevents it from spreading as much as it could. I also find it hard to believe it would be better to spray on dry hair, when your follicle is closed, than when wet.

Andrea Rodgers: Abbey, I'd love to know what you did to your hair color-wise. Looks good!

Aby MM: How many uses do you get out of 1 bottle?

Cozy Rosie: Since my hair broke off from olaplex I'm not a fan anymore and won't try epres as the scients are the same. Last time I used olaplex 0 and 3 my hair just broke off from roots. Now I have 1 inch long hair sticking out my roots. I'm not bald but my hair is super frizzy. Much more frizzy than it was before the last treatment

Linn Palm: Yikes ‍ It’s def shady to promote their products like that. He must have a huge ego, because if it was truly better it would not be necessary to say.

Alexandra McNamee: The one thing I really dont understand about all these gold standard bond building products is why you have to continue using them indefinitely if they are actually repairing your hair

Priscilla H: Your hair looks so beautiful and healthy!

Nhi Luong: Hair tutorial for these waves please!! Your hair looks so good!

Lauren Vogt: Thank u SO MUCH Abbie for all the time & effort u put into ur videos! If budget's an issue, can I just use K18 mask w my regular shamp/cond? Any stores/sales u recommend for buying it? Thank u!!

Jane W: What is the ph level of epres??? Thank u for all the research

Sarah Pagel: So if you shower at night can you just spray and leave it dry in your hair for 2-3 days until the next shower? Or is it oily/sticky and you need to shampoo out in the AM?

annabenton: Loved this Abbey!!! Can’t wait for the update

Cha Cox: do you have to use the full bottle of does a bottle actually work for several applications?

Gail P: Thank you Abbey I’ve been waiting for this

OK TERI: It's going to have to be great to replace my Pureology strength cure

323mell: So what does that mean for olaplex?, will the brand keep going, or will it end?
