Indian upbringing has a lot of you know formula. I remember my grandmother used to sit me down and oil, my hair and I used to hate it chip chip. This comes from what you spoke about. You said when you were younger, and you know when you used to go to CVS and they were such expensive products and which, which were not affordable to everyone. Was that on your mind, can I take you back to those days? I couldn't afford double digits at that time in school and then I sat in the chairs of the most incredible hair and makeup artists in the world who used the most luxurious products ever on my hair. So my standards were really nice, foreign, I'm Priyanka and you're. Watching Bollywood hungama Priyanka welcome back to Mumbai. This is your home. I don't need to welcome you, but now that you're here welcome to pumai. Thank you so much. It'S so nice to be back. I know and so nice to see you've been bright, lovely orange, color how's your day going so far. Um, it's been doing so great, I'm meeting so many people that haven't met in years. I mean the pandemic kept me away honestly. Otherwise, nothing can keep me away from Bombay, but um, it's so nice to meet everyone to come back home to be able to work with the Nike team on anomaly to hear the success of it in just three months. It'S just so wonderful, amazing, so you're an actor you're a producer. You have a restaurant. How did you manage and how did you think you make the time for a new business all together? I didn't. I think I don't think when it comes to it. I only do right, I Believe, In Action I believe in execution and I believe in planning right um. If you start thinking about all the things you want to do, it can become daunting, it can become overwhelming, and I don't like that feeling right, because then I cannot be able to do what I can do at my best ability right. So I didn't think about it. I had an idea I executed it and then I figured out time in my schedule to be able to execute it. Well, amazing: that's how it should be done, but uh how you know you know, does acting take a lot of time of your career. How do you manage to uh? How involved will you be in you know, in this business I'm involved in every business of mine? If anything has my name on it, then I'm involved in it. So I don't attach my name to anything unless, like I can make sure I have quality control or I have the ability to say I can take it to the you know, maximum that potential that it has um. Of course, acting takes a lot of my time. Um, it is my day job um, but uh. I was working so much during the pandemic as well, because people were consuming so much um entertainment at that time, sitting at home, but um I have ideas um. I want to expand and involve myself from just what my day job is. I have a lot of diverse interests um, so I have created a team that helps me manage that gets my eyes on everything consistently and is my support system nice. I remember we did an interview during Matrix right, yeah yeah, you know uh when you you said your name is attached to it. That'S the reason you will make sure that you know you look into everything. That'S because you, because of your fans - and you want to give them what you know, what comes with your name um, I don't know if it's because of my fans, because I don't think everybody who buys anomaly will be only a fan. I think when you create or a restaurant or when you create a product right, um, I'm not relying on my fans to be able to be my only consumer base right um. I want to create a loyal consumer base based on the product itself. So, for me, it's really important that I'm associated with Excellence. I always associate myself and strive for excellence right um, so we worked for a year and a half on on this product before it even hit the market in America. Two years ago, right and today we are with multiple Retail Partners, like CVS, anomaly, Walmart Target and finally, it's come home and we've brought it to naika, and just today the Nika team told me that Nika has about four four thousand plus Brands: yeah um Beauty Brands On that platform, Not Just Hair Care, okay and we're on top ten today, wow just in three months, amazing - and that's not because of my name - that's because we have repeat customers, okay, people that have used it and come back and bought more right, and that just Is such a validating feeling nice? So you know when, if I take you back to your first discussion with Nika, what were the few do's and don'ts that you really wanted in this product um? Well, I created it with Mesa Mesa in in united in America. Right and Mesa is a beauty brand incubator. They help and create um amazing, new brands, and it was created in the states and naika is our partner in India in terms of distribution in terms of helping us market right um. So I leaned on both Mesa and naika to be able to help me with the business side of it, because I'm new okay as an entrepreneur. It'S not what I have done um. So I'm not someone who ever sits on the on the boss's chair and says this is what you need to do. I'M a learner, I'm a student. I, like learning from collaborations I collaborate with people who are the best in their business right and naika and Mesa. Both are right and I've learned so much when it comes to founding a beauty brand or founding a brand in general. Before this I was more like of an investor. Okay, I am someone who always walks with caution. I don't run at a very fast speed too fast, so I started investing initially like Bumble, for example, and other investments before Sona or anomaly even came into being right. Uh, you know, uh Indian upbringing has a lot of you know uh formulas, and a lot of a lot of things that we stay with us for Life, DIY rituals. Yes, so what are those that you followed that you, and you said you - should also get them in Advantage for your brand? Well, that's for the inspiration of my my brand came from anomaly is Indian Hair Care. Yeah we are Indian. Hair contributes to the most amount of wigs in the world, and why is that? Because we have an abundance of it. It'S thick it's and that's not just jeans that comes from the rituals of you, know, oiling and taking care of our hair. We didn't grow up with hot tools and thongs and blow dryers and stuff, like that. Our hair care was oil, like Mario oil, almond oil, and I remember my grandmother used to sit me down and oil. My hair and I used to hate it chip chip, but that's what anomaly is about anomaly is not a shampoo or a hair care range that is just to clean your hair or to style your hair. It puts back into your hair what our environment or what coloring extensions you know, um gels products gives into your hair. Anomaly is also gender inclusive. We are not for women or for men. Hair is hair. Weave marketing has told us that men, hair care and women's hair care is different. It is, it is for anybody who has hair on their head. It is for them, it is. It has great ingredients, it's clean right. It has no Parables sulfates. None of that stuff which should ever exist in shampoos because it goes into your skin and that's not where you want that stuff um and it's at an affordable price with Superior formulas. That you would have what you're paying for to buy anomaly and the formula and the experience of it you would have paid at least four times amount to be able to get that with another brand right, and that was the idea was to democratize Beauty to everyone Who can afford it right? This comes from what you spoke about. You said when you were younger, and you know when you used to go to CVS and they were such expensive products and which, which were not affordable to everyone. Was that on your mind, can I take you back to those days absolutely I mean when I first went to the states and I would go into you know. Retail stores and stuff, like all the good stuff was in double digits right. I couldn't afford double digits at that time in school and then I sat in the chairs of the most incredible hair and makeup artists in the world who used the most luxurious products ever on my hair. So my standards were really high sure. So when I started thinking about creating a brand, I couldn't lower that standard right right. So when I spoke to Mesa about wanting to create the brand, it was always supposed to be under ten dollars: okay, best formulas under 10 dollars, and that's what we're doing here is best formulas under a thousand rupees. It has, and that's what I'm saying like the the same thing, that you would have bought like a dry, shampoo, oil or uh uh, hair conditioner or a shampoo um, for the kind of result that you would get with anomaly. You'Ll pay at least four or five thousand rupees, for it well done with all this uh. You know if you're talking to a young girl who's just about starting and buying these products buying figuring what shampoo, what would be your go-to tips for her um in terms of how to take care? Okay, just just in terms of hair care, I think hydration is very important. We don't pay a lot of attention to it, but um, whether it's for guys or for girls like many men, also complain of hair loss of like thinning out of hair right um, because we're using gels and blow drying and all of that stuff. Now and same thing with women, we color our hair, we use hot tools and all now - and I think it's important to really give back right and the ingredients that we used in anomaly are super clean in Argan Oil, rice starch, quinoa, avocado, natural things that really Put back the nourishment that your hair loses on an everyday basis right right, hi, everyone, I'm Priyanka and you're, watching Bollywood hungama
