Hello, there friends and welcome back to our little house on the mountain. If you were a returning subscriber. Thank you so much as always for clicking on the video and if you are new here, I would love to have you stay around and subscribe and check out our other videos. But today we are going to do my most frequently requested video, which is all about my natural hair care routine. Today it is hair washing day starting out. I have to say this because I always say this stuff and I know some people find it annoying, but I do believe that the most important part skin care and Hair Care is what goes on inside of your body, because the things that go on inside of Your body are going to eventually come out of your body and you are going to see signs of what's going on inside your body in your skin. In your eyes, in your hair, in your nails and the body, does this as a survival mechanism to get toxins out of your body so that it can function well. So I was a vegetarian for 18 years and I slowly transitioned into more of a Whole Foods. Nourishing Traditions style diet, which has a very strong focus on nutrient density being fully and completely nourished a lot of proteins, a lot of healthy fats and a very colorful array of real foods. And so I wanted to share with you some of the best foods for hair growth. This is definitely not an exhaustive list, but these are some things that I would encourage you to think about adding into your diet. If you haven't already or adding in more of collagen rich foods, things like homemade bone broths, which are very budget friendly to make. If you want to get a collagen supplement that you can add into things like protein shakes or smoothies, they do make powdered collagen and they also make liquid collagen. This is just a grass-fed collagen peptide powder from Thrive Market, but if you don't want to spend any extra money on collagen powders or liquid, you can get collagen from collagen rich foods. By adding more of those into your diet, and, like I said, bone broth is a wonderful way. Homemade bone broth is a wonderful way to get that natural, collagen and gelatin into your diet, which is going to be excellent for your skin. Your hair and your nails and I do have a bone broth beginners video here on the channel, which I will also Link in the description box and pin it in the comments below the other foods that are great for your hair are sweet potatoes, sweet potatoes are Very strengthening for the hair, omega-3 fatty acids are also incredible for your skin, your hair and your nails, and it nourishes you internally things that are very important. Like your brain cruciferous, vegetables, the one vegetable group that most people in the Western World do not eat enough of, and they are incredible for your liver health and your gut health. A lot of people have an issue eating them raw unless they are fermented. So my suggestion would be to increase the cruciferous vegetables in your diet by roasting them or by fermenting them a homemade fermented sauerkraut is extremely budget friendly and is wonderful for your gut, so your bitter herbs soaked properly soaked nut and pumpkin seeds. Things like Brazil, nuts uh, have a lot of B vitamins in them, and B. Vitamins on the inside will be great for your hair on the outside. Properly soaking pumpkin seeds are full of zinc and zinc is another vitamin that is wonderful for hair Health, eggs, pastured eggs, backyard, eggs, whatever the best quality of egg you can get. Those are a fantastic food for your hair, both to put on your hair. I know it sounds weird and gross, but historically that's what a lot of women did and also to consume internally, and the last one I have on my list is Citrus is also very, very good for your hair. So, let's just talk about a few basics: hair types: there are a variety of hair types and they go from hair type. 1A. All the way to four C one, a and one b and one C - is going to be your straight hair and it's going to go in order from the coarseness of how straight it is so 1A is going to be very straight fine, hair and then, in Your twos, which is what I have I have a slightly wavy hair depending on what time of the year, how how much humidity there is. My hair will get much wavier or curlier in the summer and it'll be a little bit straighter in the winter. So I'm in the 2 range, which is wavy and then in the three range from 3A to 3C. We have degrees of curly hair and then in the fours from 4A to 4C we have more tightly coiled hair. There are genetic factors to that. Obviously, with the hair types, however, what I want to say, as we go into this, is that our modern day, Hair Care practices have created more oil issues with the scalp. So a lot of the hair care products today and the things that we're putting on our scalp and in our hair are very harsh. They have parched chemicals and then kind of like detergents, and so there is a transitional period that goes on between a more modern chemical hair care, routine and a more historical natural hair care routine. There will be a transition period where you are going to think to yourself. This is not working for me. What in the world is going on, so I'd have to go from every three days and I know some people wash every day. So you might go every two days, then every three days and your hair is going to feel really greasy and you're. Just gon na want to wash it so bad, but you're going to have to let yourself go more and more and more until. Ideally, you get to that one week Mark where you're washing your hair once a week and some people with hair in the full range 4A to 4C will even wash their hair once a month, and it is time to wash my hair. But as you can see, it's not covered in oil and I used to get extremely greasy hair from like here up after about three days, and I also got very bad dandruff in the fall and the winter months. And ever since I switched my diet and I switched a few things about what I was doing with my scalp - I no longer get that dandruff Hallelujah, so these things do work, but they take some transitional time and if you have been using very harsh chemicals on Your hair and your scalp, no matter what kind of hair you have your hair and your scalp, the ph and all of the the goodness that goes on. Naturally, it's going to take some time for your hair to transition, budgeting and products. Quite a topic. Some people can afford the best of the best non-toxic hair products and I'm very happy for you. I think that's fantastic. Some of us cannot - and I do have a slight pet peeve about some of these care - routine videos where they offer you like. You have to go, get these 20 products and I'm like okay, I guess we're not eating this month, and so I think it's important for us to talk about how there is a whole range of things you can do. I did want to share with you a few of the chemicals to look out for, and so keep this in mind when you're thinking about budget, because it's better to transition to something that has a few less of these chemicals in it than to try to afford Something that's not in your budget that has that lacks all of these chemicals. As long as we're trying to put wisdom in place and to make better choices, we're going to see little results, so here's some of the chemicals to look out for sulfates parabens fragrance this one's really hard because fragrances and almost everything in our world fdnc, color, pigments, Yellow number five blue number: five: all of the unnatural dyes are horrible for you on your body in your body. They can cause neurological problems. They can cause physical problems. You want to avoid food dyes in your food unless it is a natural food dialect from beets beet powder or hibiscus, or something like that, but you really want to try to avoid toothpaste, hair care, any skin care food products with unnatural coloring in them tetrasodium Ed. No sorry etda formaldehyde must we say much more: it's what they embalm bodies with it. Probably shouldn't go on our head: SLS mineral oil propylene glycol PG, it might just say PG, silicone, PNG or Peg. I don't know if I'm going to pronounce this one correctly, but if you can't pronounce something, don't eat it and probably don't put it on your skin diazole, dianol, urea and isopropyl alcohol. One thing that I would say would be great to have on hand are bottles, spray, bottles, squirt bottles, pump, bottles just empty ones, that you can put your homemade products in, and so you could reuse something that you bought from the store. That was a pump squeeze bottle, just clean it out and then use it for that or in the Travel section of a lot of stores where they have the little mini size travel products. They will have things like empty squirt bottles, spray bottles in smaller, mini cosmetic sizes that you can use. You can also probably get those things off of Amazon. I have here my scalp oil, which is one of the first things I'm going to be doing today. For my hair care, routine, real natural oils are a girl's best friend for your skin and for your hair. Again, it's just going to take the transitional period of your hair. Getting used to these things, your scalp getting used to these things and we are going to be washing this out. This is not going to stay in my hair. There are many different oils that you can use to make your pre-wash hair and scalp oil almond oil, which is my personal choice. I think it's light and nice for me: coconut oil. Some people hate that in their hair, some people really like it - black, castor oil. If you have damage hair loss, black castor oil can also be really good for the curlier and more coiled hair olive oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil and argan oil. That is not an exhaustive list, but just some options for you. So mine is mostly almond oil. With a little bit of jojoba, that's what I had in my pantry Amazon and I spend less by buying it in a bigger bottle, again we'll link below, and then I have some hair growing essential oils in here. Some of the best essential oils for your hair are Rosemary, smells so good, which I have in here Cedar Wood, which I also have in here: chamomile oil, Clary Sage, lavender peppermint. If you like that kind of wake me up invigorating feeling on your scalp. A few drops of peppermint oil would be nice, Lavender is nice, but that's it almond oil, most of the bottle, a little bit of jojoba - and I did in here Cedarwood Rosemary and some frankincense, but again you can mix and match. Depending on what you have. I have on my shirt that I don't mind getting oil on if it just so happens, and I start with my scalp oil that is number one in my hair care day routine and I am going to just get that all up in my scalp. You can always use a separate, cheaper bulk carrier carrier oil to do the rest of your hair. If you have a very oily fine hair, you may want to start this by only doing the ends of your hair, and I do get asked if I cut or trim my hair and I usually we'll have James. My husband trim my hair about once a year. Sometimes, every six months, but usually once a year, we have a little trimming party and he will trim about two inches off for me if my hair needs it. But that is all that. I do these days and if you know my history, I was in the modeling industry for just about 12 years, and I had a lot of stuff done to my hair. A lot of people touching it and putting all kinds of chemical products in it. And my hair was in really rough shape when I left the industry as well as my skin, it was battered and bruised and broken so putting all that chemical stuff on. I tell you, I promise you it backfires so now I am going to let this Chill on my hair for a few hours, a lot of people. Will I hear you buddy. I know it's probably time for your eat. Um, I'm gon na. Let this Chill on my hair. A lot of people will do this before bed the night before hair washing day, and then they will just put a satin cap or satin Bonnet over their hair to protect to protect it as they sleep and then go into their hair washing routine the next day. But I just like doing this in the morning, so there are a lot of you know. There are a lot of different options when it comes to a more historical natural approach to shampoo and conditioner and detangling spray and leave-in conditioner. I'M sure some people are going to wash this watch this and say: no, don't do it like that or do it like this, and I I don't have all the answers I just know what's been working for my hair and what I've seen work for other people's Hair that have different a different hair type than mine, and I think the best way to do this is to just talk about. Historically speaking, most women had very long hair and today, on average, most women, don't let their hair get past their shoulders and so they're always cutting off their hair and not having to contend with growing long, healthy hair and so our modern practices of kicking the products On and putting the harsh detergent chemicals in the hair, we kind of have to keep chopping off our hair because it's going to be so dry and dead at the ends and in such bad shape and also adding on top of that a standard American or standard Western diet, there is, our hair is just going to be in a state where we're not going to be able to grow it to the length that maybe we want to, and obviously some people's hair is going to grow long downward and some people's hair is going To grow long more outward, but no matter which direction your hair is growing longer. If that's something that you want to achieve, uh, we are going to have to transition out of the more Modern Way of treating our hair and transition more into a historical way of treating our hair, you can choose to purchase a more natural, non-toxic, shampoo and conditioner. If you want to just start off with that, keep it simple do little things to transition. In the beginning, that's great. There is a brand called Kalia, which is a wonderful non-toxic brand of shampoo and conditioner. I'Ve used their shampoo and conditioner. I have their leave-in conditioner spray, which I love they are based in Canada. So there is a shipping to ship to the United States. Another option is using a Castile soap and you can get that in bulk again on on Amazon. If you use an apple, cider, vinegar, rinse after you use the Castile soap, your hair will detangle nicely and it will be smooth again because, basically, the Castile soap will. Your hair shaft has things that are kind of like shingles, and it does this little separation. When you do the soap and then the apple cider, vinegar, rinse will help it come back together and so it'll be smooth again. So the other option for washing your hair naturally is Clay. Taking some rasool clay or if you have really oily hair, you can use bentonite clay, but it is drying. So you're not going to want to use that if you you already have drier hair, but a rasool clay is more nourishing and mixing a little bit of that with water, so that you have a watery mixture, not like a thick face, mask clay, but something that's Watery putting a few essential oils in there and just doing again, the top part of your hair or if your hair is oily all the way down, you can do the whole thing now, if you have a more coiled type of hair. Obviously, it's going to be different. The pre-oil cleanse the scalp and scrub it really good. Some people with coiled hair that don't wash their hair as much will even do like a homemade scrub and scrub their scalp with a nice homemade. Exfoliating scrub then put on their more natural or homemade conditioner or bomb or shea butter, and then do something leave-in and that leave-in conditioner, whatever you choose, whatever non-toxic thing that you desire the next day, you can do a little refresh. So if you have a few pieces of your hair that you feel are a little bit more frizzy the next day, you can just take a little bit of that homemade or non-toxic leave-in conditioner and just go over those pieces. And you can do that for a couple days in a row and it'll just give your curls a nice refresh. So what I'm going to do today is, I am going to do a little bit of uh Castile soap. Just on the upper part of my hair, then I'm going to take my apple cider, vinegar, I'm going to do a couple of tablespoons of apple cider, vinegar with water, and I'm going to pour that over my hair rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse rinse. All of these oils, out of my hair, that's really important, especially if you have the finer hair. You want to really get all of those oils out and no matter what type of hair you have. You want to make sure that your scalp is nice and cleansed. So you're going to rinse rinse your insurance rinse and then I am going to use something nourishing for the ends of my good morning. Friends. It is time to take out our hair to summarize and recap, the hair care routine and have some final thoughts. So I have my hair up here in these this little heatless curls band, so a pre-oil or a scalp oil. You could use any combination of oils and carrier oils that you choose, so I scrub that into my scalp and down my hair again, depending on the type of hair that you have you're going to want to adapt that, and then I do some sort of a Cleansing again, you could find a non, a more non-toxic shampoo of your choice. You could make shampoo bars, you could do the old-fashioned clay and aloe or clay and water mixture. You could do a Castile soap again, whatever works for your hair and then, if you're feeling fancy you could do a rinse, so you can do an herbal rinse, which is basically a herbal infused water. You could also add some herbal powders to that. If you want to - or you could just do - a simple apple, cider, vinegar, hair rinse and I poured that over my hair after I washed out my cleanser - I used Castile soap this time with a tiny bit of shampoo. So after I washed that out, I did my apple cider, vinegar, rinse right over my hair and over my scalp, which for me helps make my hair, nice and shiny when it's all done. And then I did a conditioning from about right here down to the ends of my hair, with a heavier amount on the ends, and you could do this with a homemade conditioning bar homemade conditioner or like a butter that you make a bomb or you could just Get yourself a more non-toxic conditioner, just use whatever seems to be working with your hair, and then I rinse that out nice and thoroughly and really made sure that I didn't feel any of that initial oil that I put in my hair in there anymore, because you Don'T want residue, sometimes I will hit my head and my hair with a blast of cold water right before I get out of the shower, and then I did a light Spritz. When my hair was damp with a leave-in conditioner. I have the Kalia leave-in conditioner. It'S nice and light for my hair. If you have like the type one hair, you might want to skip, putting anything in your hair at all at that point and just allowing it to dry. If you have a Type 4 hair, you might want to put a deep leave-in conditioner in. I would just suggest trying to get things that aren't going to leave a heavy residue behind things that again are free of some of that list of chemicals that we mentioned before. You could again do a very, very light oil, sometimes I'll. Just do that over the very ends of my hair. Nothing up here, you could do a rose, water and aloe spray, and again I will link these. This is a leave-in Styler treatment that Smooths the hair that Smooths the hair. This one is free of silicone. Parabens phthalates, propylene glycol mineral oil and petroleum. If you do need to use a little dry shampoo in between washes when you're trying to stretch things out. I did find again. Beauty by Earth has a dry, shampoo volume powder and it has some of the again the better ingredients of the dry shampoos that I've seen so that basically sums it up and then, during the week and right after my hair, is dry and finished like this. I will put a drop just a drop or two of an essential oil on my hand, because I know a lot of people like making their hair smell nice and spraying something in their hair. But perfumes have a lot of chemicals in them and alcohol. Heavy alcohols, and so I'll just put a drop or two of an essential oil that my husband likes. He likes vanilla, sweeter smells. I typically will not brush my hair when it's wet. I know some people with much curlier hair prefer to detangle their hair. While it is wet with a deep conditioner on it, I prefer to let it dry do what it's going to do and then I will give it a little bit of a brush after it has they leave-in conditioning treatment. This is my brush of choice, so there you go, you can see it in the light. Just go step by step. Take it easy on yourself work on maybe putting more nourishing foods in your diet, taking out some of the things that cause chronic inflammation. If I could give one piece of advice to younger women, it is that, if you want to have nice hair, as you get older and older, leave your hair alone as much as possible. If you want to use a little bit of heat like one of those wands to do the waves or you use a straightener, just try to use it less, try to use it less days a week, maybe one day and then let your hair kind of fall Into more of its natural texture, as the week goes on, when we are always fighting against the hair that we've been given, that's when the most damage is going to be done. So when we're fighting against the color and we're bleaching our hair, we're heavily dyeing our hair, we are putting tons of chemicals in our hair to change the texture. We are going to have some negative results, so I just think it's good for well, it's good for our hair, but it's also good for our heart to work on that journey of contentment and enhancing what we have learning to really work with what we have learning The things that God's put on the earth, the oils and things that work the best with our particular hair - and I really do think that it's deeper than just the hair in the skin. It is a these things are a healing Journey where we're healing relationships with ourselves, and I think that that's a beautiful thing just think about it. Your scalp, what's right under here your precious, precious brain, that you need to think all the good thoughts that you're going to start thinking about your hair. So I hope that you guys enjoyed this video that you got something out of it. Maybe some tips or encouragement or little things that you're thinking about maybe changing in your hair routine. I hope you enjoyed seeing a little piece of my natural hair routine, and I just wanted to tell you that I am so appreciative that you took the time today to choose to click on this video watch our Channel. Beauty Among Ashes: As a hairstylist for the last 20 years, thank you for putting out this video! All your advice is sound and so good for all hair types. I will add that if you have very fun, very thin hair, you’re not necessarily doing something wrong, genetics do play a major role, but if you follow this advice, your hair can be it’s best version. God made you the way he did on purpose ♥️

twinklytea: I have 4C hair type! May seem weird but it warms my heart that you touched on all the types and textures.

Elocin: In a world of craziness, it is beautiful to see a peaceful, kind person talking about things that are decent. My foster daughter loves your gentle heart too. Blessings, love from Canadaland.

Mare Ephrathah: Loved this dear sister, especially the wisdom at the end. I've been growing my hair since 2020. It takes so much patience and self love. I feel like there is a spiritual element to our hair, especially when you look at scripture.

Melissa Burst: Love you so much sis and appreciate your content, especially that you mentioned all hair types, as a 4C woman, it's been a life long struggle and slow untraining of my brain to love and appreciate the hair the good Lord gave me which is the polar opposite of your lovely long strands :). Some people might be confused by the term "natural hair" as it's been coined in recent years towards women in the black community in an effort to get more of us to stop chemically straightening our hair or wearing wigs and weaves. You might not have known that, and I totally understand, not offended at all, just wanted to share :) All of this information is beneficial, being 5'10" it would be really unique and awesome too if you did a video with tips for clothing and other things for those of us taller than the average man! LOL!!! God bless you!!!

Sarah Ann: So inspiring! I am on the path to natural living. Would you be willing to do a video on your diet, how it influences your health today, how it healed you, as well as how your faith influences your diet (i.e. kosher, etc)? BTW, loving the Tea with Lea podcast!!!

Changed: I stopped using conventional shampoo 5 months ago and started eating better, my hair has gotten fuller, stronger and longer. I'm still trying to find a routine that works for my hair. I use sage and lavender essential oil with olive oil for my hair about twice a month. It smells amazing and helps my hair so much! This was a very good informative video!

Hanney: "...healing relationships with ourselves." That hit home with me. Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us

Humbled Roots Homestead: I am so happy you put this video out! I'm also on the journey and have the same hair type as you. Normally I do no-poo method using chickpea flour, but in the winter my hair has been so dry and literally breaking off recently. I'm learning more about hard water and thinking this might be the problem, since we moved somewhat recently and have never had the problem before. I love the oil prewash routine you do, and I am going to be trying it. I feel like it really will make a good difference. Thank you so much!

TheAntiFeministWoman: This is so encouraging. I shaved my head a couple years back, and now I'm trying to get back to where I need to be as a Christian woman. Hair and all. It's just below my shoulders now, but a little thin and getting dry. This video is right on time.

Aya Adams: Its like all of us are on a hair journey this year! Thank you for such a great tutorial along with some great tips and tricks and products you recommended! I am definitely going to start trying some of this out for myself

Laura LovesJesus: Thanks for sharing these great tips, Lea! I’m going to put some of them into practice. I’ve had collagen sitting in my cupboard but forgot about it so this was a good reminder to take it!

Sheeva: I macerate plants in my apple cider vinegar during a month and half. The plants I use are : rosemary, sage, thyme, lavender, neetle and mint. It made a huge difference to add these plants in the vinegar for the health of my scalp and my hair. They help with hair grow, hair loss, dandruff, dermatitis, itching, etc.

daughter-of Zion: Thank you thank you thank you! Loved this! I knew some of what you talked about already but you broke it down into a doable routine. Was looking forward to this. Even the Bible says a woman's hair is her glory.

Ashley LeBeau: Thank you for your video, it was so encouraging! I watched it at least 3x!! Loved what you said about what's inside will come out, and about the way we eat affecting our health and looks and inflammation playing a part as well!

SweetlyBrokenWhollySurrendered: Thank you so much for this holistic approach sister. I'm in the 4 range and found all these points applicable to my journey to natural, healthy and length retention. I'm going to type some notes.

Diana Han Fernandez: I loved this video ❤ I’m striving for a more natural life ❤️ you’re an inspiration, I’m glad to see you in these videos where you talk and give advice

Kristie Cox: I’m a hairdresser and have been for 30 years. You did a great job! ❤

Danielle DeGeorge: I've been using Viori rice shampoo bar and conditioner bar and my hair has been so much more healthy. I was getting it right from Viori's website but I just found out Amazon carries it too. They use the same rice water from that Japanese village where all the women have beautiful long hair

Kaylee L: Love this video. I wish more people had this information. You did a beautiful job explaining. Diet is so important! We also eat a more ancestral nourishing tradition diet. I do the castile soap for me and my 3 girls and the ACV rinse and then each of the girls get to pick their essential oil after the hair is air dried...usually honeysuckle, lavender, or another floral scent. This is also very cost effective we all have very long hair so buying any type of premade shampoo and conditioner could get rather expensive. Natural products are much more effective and you need much less. I love that you gave knowledge of all hair types not just yours. Your a so very gracious with your words. Our bodies are a temple and a very precious gift. Thanks for the beautiful video.

Brooke Haybel: Be Kind ✝️ i’m between 2b and 3b hair type’s definitely a mix for me! i’m in early almost mid 20’s this video is everything!!! i honestly was lost for a small second whwn i cut all heat tools !! i knew i did the right thing whwn my first hair straightener broke for good! i did rebuy a new one for any friends in my life or if my future husband needs it ! but for now it’s brand new just chilling!! i actually do a historic hairstyle i do rag curls or a form of them!!! i found few videos on you tube here and i haven’t looked back also i don’t use a brush like normal anymore sense then!!! i also finger comb/brush my hair before using a brush or comb ever!!! also if i buy any new hair care products i research then go to god before i even think of buying anything!! it’s helped me find one amazing thing and that’s self-instinct buying with these in mind have changed my view of the hair care world!! also i’ll probably have always order my haircare products sense todays world just cares about the opposite!

Johanna Fernandez: Thank you so much for this, Lea! It came right on time, what a coincidence. I really needed this. My hair started to break or fall and I'm in need of some strength. Not sure what caused it yet, but God willing I will soon. My hair is very oily and I barely use any product, sometimes I would skip conditioner on my ends all together, but I think that was not a good idea. I used to do homemade hair treatments every other week with olive oil, coconut oil or avocado oil and added either honey or and egg, and all of a sudden I just stopped doing it all together. This video was so great! I prayed to God to teach me and guide me on what to eat and how to take care of my hair. Thank you, Lea. I believe this was the Holy Spirit. ❤God bless you.

Graceful& humble: Love this video lea, I know I always say this but you look so beautiful. My hair is in the 4 range, I have recently started using rhassoul clay instead of my organic shampoo and so far I am loving it. My hair it just passed my waist but because its curly it shrinks so you would never know. By the way I am sure I have told you before but I could watch you all day xo

JordanAlmond: This was so helpful! I’m transitioning into more holistic products (cleaning, beauty, and body care) and although Im much improved, it still is very much a process. I have quite curly hair but can’t go very long without washing otherwise I have lots of fallout. I suspect it may be due to the creams and mousses I use on it so Im just trying to use them up and then invest in more natural products to see if that makes a difference. It’s kind of fun to see what works and try new things out! Most of the time, Ive found the simpler, the more effective.

Kimberly M: Thank you so much for doing this. I need to take notes! Lol! So good and true about nourishing the inside. My journey is ongoing to better the vessel God has given me, and so I thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom and experience. One step at a time.❤

veronica mast: Thank you Lea, for sharing your hair care routine. I loved every second of it. Sadly, I don't have long hair, as I wish I had, because it is part of my genetic make-up. However, I am/have been using all natural shampoo and conditioner for a little while now. I want to give the oil a try in my hair. ❤

LindyTN: Thank you so much for this. I could not have more different hair than you. I am older with some gray (blonde in my younger years), wavey to curls depending on the humidity. Fine, soft and often frizzy. lol So helpful for all of this info and I will check out some of the products for sure.

Momma red 6: Thank you Lea, I enjoyed this video. I use rose water on my skin everyday, didn’t know I could use it on my hair. I love my all natural shampoo bar but I’ve never done the oil soak first. Going to have to give it a whirl. Thank you again!

Elyesse J: How long does it take for your hair to dry in the heat less curler? My hair is very long and I have wanted to try it but my hair takes forever to air dry. I have a similar texture as you do so I am so grateful for this video! I have already transitioned from daily washing a long time ago, I am hoping to add in more natural hair care as that’s the last stand for me of unnatural chemically things going in or on my body. So thank you!!! I already have some of this stuff too so that’s exciting!

Blah: I've been using Calia hair products for 12 years now!! LOVE THEM. My hair is down below my waist and healthy!

Taylor Nicole: Thank you for educating us! Also I work in a middle school library so I add tea tree and all the oils you recommend in a spray bottle with water. Tea tree is supposed to repel lice! I thought I would share just in case someone didn’t know about it! You are beautiful inside and out! What you are doing for Christ is incredible! ❤ thank you for sharing the long awaited video!

Eden Elston: Yesssss! Nutrition is SOOOOO important when talking about hair, skin, and nails. It's a barometer for gut health and nutrient deficiencies

Courtney Cheek: Hey Lea- I’ve been vegetarian for about 15 years now but I’m curious what prompted you to start eating meat? Did you notice any effects on your digestion at first? It seems like when I turned 30 my body was like “everything you thought you knew about taking care of me is wrong now” and I’m trying to find a new routine for my skin and hair (which is why I loved this video). Unfortunately my digestion also seemed to do a 180 as well and I’m wondering if vegetarianism is still right for my body

courtney evers: Thank you so much for this! After I had my 8th baby, terrible things happens to my hair and skin. Dry brittle, falling out, thin and frizzy. I had hair like yours ( straighter though) so it was a devastating blow to my emotional state. And it’s impossible to find good advice on clean effective hair care. Everywhere I looked and everyone I spoke with just suggested chemicals. Thank goodness I knew better. I cannot stomach organ meats so I started taking grass fed organ meat supplements, and I believe they helped quite a bit. But the process is a slow one. I really, really appreciated all this Information. It’s worth it’s weight in gold.

Living Psalms: I researched a lot about Madam C.J. Walker and she was one of the first African-American women to create natural, hair-care products for Black women with curly, thick or hard to manage hair. I suggest looking into her products. Thanks for sharing, I love your videos <3

Chelsea Christen: I love watching hair videos. I myself have 4c hair & ive noticed that women with long hair all care for their hair similarly: using oil before washing and in scalp care, trying to extend between wash days (for their hair type), deep conditioning, using clays, braiding hair & low manipulation & caring for ends, many having a long layer look or blunt cut. Has definitely helped me on my journey. Currently at bra strap & it’s the longest it’s even been so excited for this journey. I also love clays & ACV. Funny enough our hair to wash day is pretty similar I just wash every 2-4weeks as my hair loves it. Thanks for your content ❤

Lina Kツ: A timely video, Lea. Covid changed my hair from curly to almost nappy. I have been trying to infuse some life into it. I had found an article that discusses the different hair types. A young Canadian lady I watch ocassionally speaks about using a boar bristled brush. Sulphur was another suggestion.I will need to buy the castor oil you adviced for hair loss. I have recently been using jojoba oil (doesn't smell so good). What do you think of talking sulphur orally?

Sara Thomas: My hair is growing beautifully and I put oil *usually* both in the morning and at night (coconut and caster oil mix) and brush it with a boar bristle brush. Luckily my hair never got oily in my life I actually followed the hair advice from Katherine Sewing on YouTube. - And I also only wash *Once* a month and my hair looks good every day :) Can't wait to have waist-length hair Anyways, great video!

Noel carter: I had to train my hair. When I was a teenager , I was naturally oily . I washed my hair everyday and now I can wash my hair once a week ❤

Meg McGinnis: Thank you. You answered a lot of my questions...filled in the blanks and explained the order. I have been infusing rose and calendulas in the ACV for my hair. I just hadn't figured out what to shampoo with and when to use the oil. I'm 58 and have always had hair that was longer, but it becomes unmanageable. What you shared I think will help. I don't dye my hair as it is turning white. Hopefully I can get it longer now. God bless.

Naomi May - Sustainable Prepper: Thank you for this video!!! THIS is a video I had really been hoping you would do. I currently wash my hair once a week. I have fine hair that is wavy and at times even curly. With autoimmune issues and thyroid issues, my hair has gotten thinner. I keep it long and use a non-toxic shampoo from the health food store. I use oils on my hair; jojoba or apricot seed oil or hemp seed oil. I add essential oils also sometimes.

Estefania Mitchell: This has to be the absolute best, clear and comprehensive at the same time- hair care video

Billy 🦋: Alaffia is a really cleansing and GENTLE brand that is basically the same as castille somehow it doesnt damage my hair though. Alaffia is excellent AND costs the same as pantene. around 30-50 cents an ounce! ALSO My 32 oz bottle of alaffia lasted almost 6 months!!! I have a bob though and I cleanse my hair twice in the shower but only wash every 3rd day. So wash one day unwashed for two days then wash again. I also started oiling my hair too and my hair is exceptionally healthy it's never been this healthy.

Cool Mom and Collected: I've been trying to grow my hair healthily and educate myself more! Thank you!

Erin: Thank you for doing this video Lea! My hair right now has never been healthier. I'm assuming it's from the prenatal vitamins I'm taking. They are the brand New Chapter. Of course I've decided to let it grow out long right when I'm about to have a baby LOL.

Ellie Moore: This has been so helpful. Thank you. I am curious exactly what you had to change up to banish dandruff? I have the same hair type and dandruff problem in the fall and winter months. Also, I think it’s contributing to hair loss now!

known stranger: Your videos are always aesthetic and genuine! Thankyou

☮️peacefulpennycook ☮️: Thank you for all of this good information! Any suggestions for hair styling when the back of my hair is super curly and the front hangs just slightly wavy? I’ve been using flat and curing irons for years to match up my uneven hair textures, but I’d rather not.

Lisa G.: Lea, it was interesting to hear about your hair care practices. I'm really intrigued about the use of castile soap for washing the hair. I tried it a few times and was surprised at the waxy feeling while washing - do you know what I mean? It felt like it was leaving a coating on my hair, which I didn't expect. I expected just a gentle cleaning. Anyway, I also used a ACV rinse, half with water, afterward, but it wasn't enough to remove that feeling. Because of the coating, I thought I'd use the stuff only once a month, although one time I washed my hair that way twice in a row. It just seemed like it was leaving something in my hair which I didn't want. Do you know what I mean? Obviously, this doesn't bother your hair, but can you comment on this? Thanks. I was disappointed because I thought it'd be a very economical way to wash my hair, and use the castile soap for other things, too. :)

Michelle Nelson: This is what I needed. I have to push myself through the greasy day 3...so hard.

Patricia Elmore: This was an amazing video! I enjoyed the instruction very much Simply explained. Easy to follow. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video of your routine. One question I do have …. Do you curl your hair just when you do this routine or do you curl everyday? ❤

Umarah: it makes me so happy to see you talking about diet in a hair care routine! so important and not spoken about near enough

Kaycie Schaffer: Thanks for this Lea! like how you touched on foods that nourish your body. I'm 2 months postpartum and trying to heal the tissue and help regrow healthy hair. Also just watched a great haircare video from KatherineSewing on YT. Blessings to you

Darlene Battle: Thank you sis for chiming in on all hair types. You really seem to care about people. Blessings.

Stephanie Kirkland: I can relate to only washing once a week because I worked up to that point and I can tell my hair is not as oily as it was when I was washing more frequently. So I know it does work. I do struggle though with my 6 year old daughters hair. She loves having long hair but it’s fine and tangles easy. And she’s very active and is outdoors a lot with her animals so I feel I have to wash hers more often. But it’s very drying. Right now we are using shea moisture shampoo and conditioner and their detangler I also use shea butter in her hair. After we wash I put it in two braids and she sleeps like that but the next day she wants her hair down and it gets so tangled I don’t want to comb or brush it and cause breakage. So I have to go through the whole process again to be able to get through it. Do you have any suggestions so I can get her to a once a week wash and still be able to get the tangles out without breaking her hair? Thank you for your taking the time to share your life choices with us!!

Aya Fresh: Oh thank you! I was just thinking how nice it would be if you discussed a hair growth diet as well as care! Your hair is certainly thick, long, and shiny!

Judy Willis: Do you dilute the Castile soap at all? How much do you use? Thanks for this helpful and inspiring hair video! It was so refreshing. My hair is in an oiled bun right now!

Jam: It's fun to strive for natural ways of caring for ourselves. Thank you!

Teshuvah: This is a wonderful video! I have not used shampoo or conditioner for about 15 or 16 years now and I would never go back! I love the idea of the homemade hair oil and I will be adding that into my routine. I live in a damp area, so when I started my “no poo” journey I didn’t need anything but the vinegar, but I’m finding that as I get older, it needs something more. I’m curious; is your beautiful hair all one length? I have one of the heatless curlers that you use here, but haven’t mastered it yet. I would love to see a video of how you get your hair all wrapped up in it. And you look so cute with the curler in too!

Michelle M: Thanks for the video. I’ve been doing this type of hair rotten for about six weeks now and have been thrilled with it .l also have been loving my bore bristle brushing.

Catherine Kelly: Thankyou for sharing, I have been on this journey towards natural hair the last couple of years and truly what a difference in its condition. Picked up some great tips from you so thanks.

Tulsi Bloom: What a thorough video! the diet plugs at the beginning are great. I'm happy you touched on all hair types (I'm 3b/c )

LuluMarie: I'm new to your channel and website. You're living the simple life I've always dreamed of. It's very inspirational. Thank you for this video and all of the wonderful information. I'm trying to get more natural and whole in all areas of my life and body. About how many drops of essential oils do you use in your pre-wash oil blend? I'm working on putting one together myself. I've never tried pre-wash oils, but I'm excited and hopeful. Thanks again!

Amanda Johns: Thank you for all of this information! My Josh cuts my hair too and I love that. It was nice to learn what type I have and how to feed it lol! ♥️

Blanca Estela: I have hair loss and sometimes feels so discouraging, I just want to give up, Thank you for the encouraging words.

brightpurpleviking: Invaluable! Thank you. I have hair loss from “that one virus” I got last spring and am hoping this serum helps. I just mixed some up but added some pumpkin seed oil as well. Thank you! I didn’t jab but I know others who did and still got it several times with hair loss etc as a side effect. My best friend is a doc for a C clinic and she said there are many ongoing support groups specifically for people who have lost hair because of cvid and jabs. So horrible!!

Fran Ricardo Demianczyk: Thanks so much for this informative video, I truly appreciate it!! You’re absolutely spot on!!!! ❤️❌⭕️

Mabl O: What great advice. I too have very long hair and love keeping it simple and natural. I love like minded content. Would you please consider doing a makeup/beauty regimen. Thanks so much. ❤Blessings.

Anna Lynn: I had soapy residue from my shampoo bar. So I’ve been cleansing my hair every 2 weeks using an egg whisked with 3 Tbs of vodka (to prevent it coagulating in the hair). Rinse with cool water and ACV. Only problem is when I tried oiling my scalp, my egg shampoo left a lot of oil behind :(

Daughter Of His Word: Thank you, Sister! I was just watching videos in this last month. I hadn’t decided how I was going to attack it! Thank you for sharing!!

Moonhunter: It took me 2 years to go shampoo free. It was a horrible journey. I was just so fed-up with the constant washing. My hair never seemed to look good for more than half a day. And eventually ALL shampoos caused sores on my scalp. I now only wash my hair once a week (on occasion I leave it longer). NEVER use any kind of shampoo anymore. I found an old-fashioned kind of basic glycerine soap bar. That's all I use. No more problems. My daughter is 12. I luckily never started washing her hair with (adult) shampoos. I did use some gentle baby shampoos when she was younger. Now we just wash with this soap once in a while, otherwise just water. She's never had any oily hair or sores etc. Her hair grows super strong and long.

Bonnie T: Oooh thank you for this! The hair oil feels so doable for me, I'm going to make some! I actually use that same almond oil for my skin. I don't even buy lotion anymore, I just put almond oil on after my showers and my skin has never been happier. My skin doesn't dry out in the winter anymore. I hadn't thought about putting it in my hair! I'm excited about that. I do use a clean, natural face lotion that has worked wonders for me, I've used it for about 8 years.. that's the most committed to a product I've ever been. Lots of sun and salt water exposure for me, but almond oil and my face lotion seem to be keeping me on track to NOT looking like an old sailor by the time in 40. My skin feels happy. I've been upping my hair care game, this video came just in time for me. I've always used clean shampoos and conditioners but my hair needs more, especially the ends. I keep a leave in conditioner in my backpack and put it in right after surfing and just doing that has started helping. I'm going to look into trying the Calia one you have. Using things with clean ingredients and working with your body by eating well, like you said, is key. You're hair is amazing and very inspiring. I always think how beautiful it is and that it's definitely an outward reflection of the care you are taking of your body. Our bodies are the temple of the precious Holy Spirit after all and we should treat it well in all the ways. P.S. Ironically, my children's 8 week old puppy is currently trying to eat the ends of my hair.. she always tries, I don't know what the draw is.

Ann King: I too have been on a journey to healthier hair. My mom would never let me have long hair because it was so curly she couldn’t do anything with it. I’m 63 now and it is down to my hips but very dry, very fine and fly-away. Thank you for sharing your routine. It gives me some direction to move toward. Blessings.

charity holt: Another thing to consider is the hard vs soft water. I’ve tried Castile soap but because of the hard water, it leaves my hair feeling like straw.

princess_urama: Very true about most people in the 4 range going long periods without washing, but nowadays, most of us have started weekly or biweekly washing as we noticed it contributes alot to hair and scalp heath

Jesus is the greatest Love there is :): You are so beautiful inside and out sister Leah! :) Thank you for these videos

SandraD: Great video! I have 1A - 1Bish hair, right in between. I can’t imagine having no perm or color in my hair because the damage gives my hair volume. I would love to wear it longer so that I could put it up more or wear it in a loose braid or pony tail. But I can’t imagine it would look like anything but seaweed. Lol. Anyone else use these methods with type 1A hair? Fine, stick-straight hair that tends to be oily and doesn’t hold any curl or style for very long.

T. Ruth T: Thanks, for sharing. Your hair is beautiful :) I often use less toxic shampoo( I check EWG. 1st) that I can get locally(Renpure or Herbal Essence). I do think (at least for me) that the scalp brush helps & your washing water often makes a difference... I didn't see much difference with using expensive Calia or Griffin Remedy.

Niki L: Just a note on the formaldehyde that I found super interesting. I am taking the Master Herbalist Course from School of Natural Healing- in one of the radio show videos that they had us listen to David Christopher talked about how a Mortician was talking about how they have to use less formaldehyde now then when he began his career 40+ years earlier (this was recorded in the early 2000s) and he was contributing it to the amount of formaldehyde in all the stuff people use and take. I just found that really interesting and sad. Anyways- thanks for the video, one of my goals this year is to completely adapt a natural hair care routine. I already go 7 days between washings but I have a lot of scalp issues and had to transition back to using a shampoo and conditioner (as natural as I could get) but now I realize I was skipping all the oils- I was just washing was castile soap and rinsing with AVC- Im going to add in all the oils and hopefully that will help with the scalp issues. Anyways blessings and Shalom to you!

Kimberly M: I meant to also ask would you consider doing a video about what natural makeup( if you use any) you may use/ skin care routine? Your skin is radiant and this hair video was so informative!❤

Tammmy: I assumed there wouldn’t be as much “products” like store bought type stuff in your route! I was actually surprised seeing some of the products you use. Such a great video! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Hagit Ben Abu: I usually wash my hair with apple cider vinegar with rosemary, recently I use kefir whey instead of vinegar and it works great as well

Jasmin Plagge: Thank you so much, this is encouraging me. I changed about two years ago first to natural shampoos and today I use my homemade bars in wich are only good ingredients and only a few of them. Same for conditioner and sometimes oils, how I learnt it from my mother and her grandpa. My hair is very thin but fortunately quiet a lot of. Now I try to have it long again like when I was young. It will take time. And I try to eat healthy and wholegrain and organic as often as possible. Makes me feel good and balanced. Sometimes I like wearing headcovers. I love your beautiful long, shiny and wavey hair, your modest cloth and your path with the lord.

Andreia de Távora: Fantastic video <3 you have such beautiful stunning strong hair!!!! Gorgous!!! This was very inspiring!! I did a no poo for a year, but i used milk as a conditioner. And i was allergic to it and didn't knew (as i am with coconnut oil, which i loved). That said, i use a little bit of shampoo (like the size of a coin) once every two weeks, and i wash my hair with oat flour+rice water (everything strained) in the week in between. I don't use conditioner, but i also use minth/rosemary rinse and almond/argan oil, just a little bit :) it really do wonders. Oh, for my dry shampoo i use a teaspoon of: a) cacao powder plus corn starch, or b) corn starch with lavander or rosemary (but i protect my hair from the sun, when i use lavander ;) ). One tip for the no poo: clean the brush everyday, with some cloth or something. I adore your videos and now you inspired me to grow my own hair <3 I will try the vinegar for the rinse!! Thank you <3 May God Bless you and your family <3

Yeshua's Way / Biblical Lifestyle: Loved this thank you. I too have long hair and I always need lovely natural tips. Going to buy the shampoo and conditioner from Canada then. The postage to Australia may be eye watering ha ha, but worth it no doubt. Investing in looking after ourselves and what the Father has blessed us with is important. So, thank you.

April Friend: Loved this Lea. Can you do a beauty routine as well? What about toothpaste?

Aya Fresh: Your advice is sound! I also love a super clean brand called 100% Pure or any brand of simple, natural olive oil soap bar (a/k/a nablusi soap, an ancient, healing, traditional, very cleansing, cost-effective soap that does not hurt the hair or scalp at all)!

Linda Steinbrenner: Such an informative video with plenty of good advice and suggestions. You do have beautiful hair. Thank you!

Diane B: Thank you Lea for a very informative video!

Daughter of THE King: Hey!! I'm not the only one putting eggs in my hair sometimes!!! Haha. It really works for me but indeed.. the smell.. :) thanks for the lovely video and focus on foods. So important.

Maya: Thank you so much for this video! After having a baby, I had a lot of hair loss, and the texture of my hair changed. I cut a lot of it off and am looking forward to growing it long again. I want to stop using heat all together and try the headless curls. Quick question - do you put the band on to your wet hair or after it has dried? Thanks!

L’esprit de l’escalier: I have very long thick hair and have never really properly taken care of it, mostly shampoo and conditioner. Now, I’m going to take care of it like I take care of my skin!

Shannon Turney: I love this! I will say I have no thyroid and have suffered in the past with dry and thinning hair. I am also in peri menopause. I take vital proteins collagen peptides in my coffee every morning. My hair looks so much better and has growed so much. I am also eating healthier. The collagen peptides is a game changer for me.

The Farm Sparrow: Thank you for putting together this lovely video Lea …. a lot of useful info and ideas. Have a blessed weekend .

Nthabiseng Mohane: Thank you Lee … I’m more In -love with slow living everytime I watch your videos. Stay blessed.

Roxanne Hernandez: Thank you so much in sharing some really good advice for making your own scalp oil. i really appreciate your mentality in not using a bunch of products to create a scalp oil in nourishing your hair because we are on a strict budget to afford our first home in a couple years. i was actually wondering if you could make a video showing the conditioners and leave-in homemade conditioners? i have curly-ish fine hair. it's usually always dull looking in the mid section, dry at the ends, and super oily at top. i do tend to have a lot of tangles. i've been using hair oil for my hair (for mid section and the ends but im still learning how much to use to avoid my hair being too oily), i've gotten my hair up to almost a week with no washing except for using a detangle brush to massage my scalp in the shower to avoid dead skin or oil build up. i'll typically use an apple cider vinegar wash every couple days and i'll follow that up with a no poo powder that i've gotten from Lush YEARS ago that i STILL have. i'll apply any of the hair oil if i need it to help detangle and try to finger detangle to avoid breakage. i don't always have the time to finger detangle so whe i do have to brush my hair i wll use the same gentle detangle brush that i use in the shower. my goal is to grow it LONG, have it be healthy and nourished so if you have any tips or advice on the conditioning aspect that would be wonderful. enjoy this beautiful day =]

Hillary Johnson: You did wonderful explaining this! I am so encouraged by what I have seen on your website and videos!!

hope: I have one question, I have nordic, fine, straight hair and I have tried all this things to get rid of oily scalp. The raussul clay was too rough for my fine hair and broke it. I now go for a natural schampoo and conditioner because it is easier and use homemade dry schampoo the third day and wash it the fourth. Does the oil treatment of the hair before washing helps to reduce the development of grease hair? I really like your advices, I changed my face routine after listening to you and am very pleased with the result. It helped reduce overproducing grease in the T-zone and live without pimples after 40 years ( very seldom). I still want less greasy hair.

Faiza Faheem: Hi! Loved the video! I noticed that I already do most of the hair care steps, but was wondering how long do you keep the hair oil in?
