Hi awesome ones, so today, let's tackle our hair, do you remember when you were younger how you could buy like any shampoo and didn't matter if it had detergent in it? It just always worked well these days. I find - and you probably do too that, especially if we have gray hair or if we're still coloring it just any shampoo, it won't do and we also need to use some products to kind of get the frizzies out. So I have tips today and I'm going to show you some great products that I use that will really help to de-frizz your hair and make it look smoother and shinier. But first I have to show you my hair. Just after I wash it and it's dried. Oh all, right now it would look a lot worse if I was using, you know a cheaper kind of detergent based shampoo, but using the right kind of shampoos, there's a certain kind of silkiness to it. So let me just show you what I mean: here's my favorite shampoo and it's by a company called davines. I like the new new shampoo and shall we say it comes in different flavors for different types of hair. Anyway, this brand was an Allure best in Beauty. Pick and it has lots of natural products in it, I've been using it for years, and it also comes in jumbo sizes that I usually buy, and then I can just kind of fill up these smaller containers. Now, if you have silver or gray hair, they also have a special. You know the purple shampoo and by davines of course - and this is called Heart of Glass and it is a silkening shampoo, it's absolutely lovely, but you only use it. Every four washes so remember that now my hair stylist actually introduced me to the davines products and I love each and every one of them and by the way I will have links for these products underneath the video description and also in the comments for you all Right now that my hair has been washed, I need to tame it and I've got two products for that. First is the John Frieda frizzies, and that's really going to help to tame that fly away. Hair and next is the John Frieda perfect finish serum great products. Now, I'm going to pretend that my hair is damp right now, and this is where I'm going to use the John Frieda, frizzies and I'll just sort of show you I use about that much on my hair for my length and of course you can use this On shorter lengths as well - and I just kind of blend it in like this kind of like finger painting but anyway and then what I'm going to do, is I'm going to distribute it through my hair? Now I don't put it into the scalp, but I do put it all through my hair and especially especially onto the frizzy parts. Next I want to do some styling and my preference for having straight hair is well. This is a straightening brush and, as you can see, it looks like a brush, but it actually straightens the hair and I'm going to show that to you in just a second. But when I want curly hair now, this is going to look a little retro, but I love the newer product by Conair electric rollers. Remember those oh, my gosh. It is so fabulous and, of course, if you've got one from like the 1980s, it's probably time to throw it out, but these new products they work on, amazingly well, alright. So moving on, I'm going to show you how I do Style with that styling brush and I don't really like to use curling, irons or flat irons, because whenever I'm using them, I don't know I get distracted or something and I start seeing smoke and I know That'S not a good idea for my hair all right now. Let me show you how I style with this straightening brush. This actually doesn't take very long, and what I usually do is I just start out. I find my part and I like to push the top of my hair back. I usually go above and below the sections of hair to get a really smooth. Look. I also like to curl my sides in slightly which I can actually do with a straightening brush. I'M going to fast forward a little bit now, so this video doesn't take too long, but you'll really see how it Smooths my hair out foreign. Now I'm not finished yet. But if you like videos like this, for let's say a more mature woman, there's a button down there somewhere, where you can subscribe and also don't forget to click on the bell and that way, you'll be notified about my videos and by the way, are you you Joining me every Wednesday at 8pm, I am live at amazon.com shop, slash awesomeover50, where I browse and chat about well makeup and skin care and hair care. We also get into some housewares as well, and you know what it's a lot of fun. We kind of hang out like girlfriends and chat, and I would love love love for you to join me there. Okay. So where was I oh yeah time for the John Frieda? What is it called again? It'S called um, perfect, finish, perfect, finish serum and I just put a little squirt like that on my maybe a little bit more on my hands, and I rub it in like this all right again kind of reminding me of when I used to be a little Kid, but anyway, and what we do is we just smooth our hair down with this serum, and you can really see the difference between this side and this side. Also it I'm just looking in the mirror here. It really does add a little shine to the hair as well, but let's not leave this side over here, we're going to smooth it down again and so that it all looks absolutely smooth, non-frizzy and beautiful. Now I mentioned how you could make your hair curly with those Conair rollers, but did you know that there's a product out, it looks like real hair and it's a great product for making up the messy buns. I love to use these for my Glam days and let's take a look at how it works now, unless your hair is really super short, this messy bun will work on hair shorter than mine, and here I have an elastic hair bun that I can apply in A matter of minutes, I've been wearing this look to quite a few events, and it looks so tray Chic. It'S super easy to attach, and it comes in lots of different hair shades. Now I actually did a full video on this Glam messy bun for you, and what I'm going to do is I'm going to put it on the end screen of this video, and you know I was also thinking to myself. A lot of you might want to grow out into your you know, gray or silver hair, and I did a video on my process, so I'm going to put that at the end screen of this video as well. Now one thing I really really wanted to address here and that is be authentically you. If you really love a short little, pixie cut well, go for it and if you like longer locks like I just love my longer locks, I think you should go for that too. I personally believe that there are no rules for hair, and you know whatever makes you authentically you not just for hair, but you know maybe for what you're wearing or other things. I just think that it's so important to be true to yourself, and that also goes for growing out your gray hair too. Now I've had many many women mention to me in the comments that their hairdressers have told them that they have to cut off all their hair and also they should never go gray. They need to keep on coloring it, and you know when your hair is coming in Gray or silver like mine, you have to color it every four weeks, so you know what I've had my silver hair now for about five years and I don't have to color It I don't have to spend all that money and I absolutely love it, and I just it's my signature. Look. I really really truly believe that to be the best version of yourself, you have to be authentic and you have to be comfortable in your own skin, and you know I always like to listen to my heart before I listen to others, and I think that way You really have a lot less regrets and you know what it's just another way to keep it awesome.

jackie reinstedler: Long hair, yes!! Grew my hair long and love it!! I just encourage natural curls:)

Teresa Keough: Hi Heather, Love your straightening brush. It does a great styling technique and doesn’t take long to do your hair. The hairpiece you use when doing your messy bun matches your hair perfectly. Love your signature look. Love and kindness, Teresa

Andrea Migliore: Thanks for mentioning the Davines products. My stylist turned me on to their Love shampoo and condition for curls. My hair is not thin, but it is very fine. A little product goes a long way. I only use the shampoo about once a week, but I use the conditioner a few times per week. The fragrance for the Love curl products is beautiful. These are pricey, but the products I purchased in mid-Summer are still more than half full. Thanks for this video. You not only keep it awesome, you keep it fresh! Wishing you a wonderful holiday season.

Regina Gurganus: Clearly I relate to this video and was thinking that I might need to do something drastic to my hair. But I don't want to cut it all off. It is naturally wavey, and I don't really like straightening it but sometimes I just let it curl on it's own and then tame the frizz with something like what you use...a taming creme and a serum and I blend those 2 together and run it through my hair. You are an inspiration and I'm glad I just saw this video. So, thank you!

Teresa Tillery: Thanks, Heather! I have been using something similar to the styler/drier wand and it is a game changer when taming frizzy hair!

REIKI WITH CARY: Beautiful YOU! Thanks for showing us the how to! Have a wonderful weekend! See you over on IG!

Bonnie Spruin: I don't use shampoo at all. I use an inexpensive conditioner. I wet the scalp and hair well and apply the conditioner to the scalp. I scrub the scalp with this and then rinse. I scrub while I rinse until I feel resistance/squeak. If you are worried it's not clean enough, you can do this step again. You will feel the hair be very different than the first application, this is because the hair is clean/cleaner. The hair will feel less resistive on the second application. When I am done cleaning the scalp, I apply purple conditioner (Brass Off) to the rest of the hair and leave on while washing the body, then rinse off. I read this technique in Curly Girl. I haven't used shampoo in years. I also use a bit of hair putty after I'm done styling. I find it takes away the frizz and adds shine.

Yvonne Pace: I have never found a frizz product that works for me including the ones you mention. My hair used to naturally curly and to some extent still is on the very ends. The top is totally flat and thinning due to medical issues. I keep a medium length because I have always looked awful in shorter styles. Have you had an issue with finding really thick kinky hairs since going gray/silver ? Not all over just one or two here or there. So weird. I have not found a shampoo or hair product I like now for years. I try sample/travel sizes when I find them.

gaetane theriault: I wish I could post before and after photos…just had an haircut…well I have to say it was the best haircut for me in so many years. I am 77…very blessed to have these natural hairs with a bit of grey streaks…its my God given hair…I can still style it, put it up and leave it down…he had to take a few inches off….i can tie it in a small pony…its lovely. I am very pleased! Au Naturel is the best way to go! Embrace it ladies!

Lisa Harr1: I love your hair and I think it is so beautiful ! Sadly my hair is fine and straight and still oily so I can’t use these rich super moisturizing products. However I did stop using the cheaper detergent based shampoos and now use better quality ingredient shampoos and my hair is loving it ! I just wish my hair would stop being so oily ! Maybe one day !!! Kiss little Hurricane for me !! See ya Wednesday !!

Atha Karnes: Thanks for these tips it was just what I needed.

hair dresser: One of the most aging things I find is....frizzy hair...esp. grey frizzy hair,no matter the length

Pam B: My hair isn’t completely gray. But it will be soon, I think. And my hair is frizzy too. I have a set of hot rollers. I have everything. I’m thinking I might need a new blow dryer. I’ve had short hair for years. And I don’t want it really long. Just something different.

sherry Pettit: Thanks for the tips

Jackie O: Looking awesome for Christmas

gaetane theriault: Has anyone tried ‘ olive oil?’…it will definitely look healthier.

Patricia Caruolo: I don't own a hairdryer bad for your hair. Natural dry

Patricia Caruolo: Girl
