The hot comb on the stove, the most dangerous weapon of real life, is scary. I like to have chills right now. This is how you know you're getting it done by a professional, not your mom girl. I remember my mom would have paper towel and she would like put it on the paper towel and it would burn the paper towel, and then she put it right in like what the parts that I hated the most with this hot comb was when they would Get to the edge before they even touched you you were like yeah

Delly Tancyl: I like how we're now raising a generation of young black girls who will now have "Crown Act" stories and hot combs stories. Be beautiful without the trauma.

QuirkyViper: We need a hair therapist for some of these memories but look how far we've come!

AshleyBcookin: I feel like we all have PTSD with that daggone hot comb. I’m sitting over here agreeing with everything. Those edges were the absolute scariest and you couldn’t move. Looks like it damaged more than just our hair. God I can smell my hair cooking with that grease.

Cheeks217: "hold your ear down" the trauma

I’mMeHi👋🏽: My mother still does this, sitting in a chair, with a mirror propped up. Her hair is so long she sits on it. She has to bun it up after. She’s in her 70’s. Edit: remember the thickass folded paper towel being used to help grip the underside for a straighter press?

pockahantiss: ….Anybody remember how the “blue grease” would be just as hot as the hot comb heat? How about the sizzle when the hot comb is applied to the roots? Did anybody else physically react just by SEEING the hot comb? Did you wince? Duck, or draw in a breath? How about the smell of burning hair? Were you in the kitchen sitting between your mothers legs on a bucket, or small chair? How about sweatin’ your hair out before she’s even finished? All of those memories came back after watching this. ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Liyah Liy: I always fall asleep when I’m getting my hair done and when I would be sleeping as a little kid…..my soul would literally jump out of my dreams when that hot comb burned my scalp

Danielle Lake: The burns I'd have on my ears and the back of my neck

Sleepy Dawn ASMR: Still got that burn mark on my forehead

ItsMiiViibe Bre: ❤ the paper towel yes like why do I still do that to this day.

Krystle Krys: The press of the paper towel with the burn marks...

Aurmazl Zudeh: Poor girls. That looks dangerous

Melodramatic: The hot comb is not 90’s ….

Missy stewart: TRAUMA

Stormy Weather: My mom wouldn’t detangle the ends of my hair so she’d just pull out clumps of burnt hair and claim she was getting the kinks out.
