Hairdresser goes shopping for a full hair routine. Both at Target for drug store, affordable products as well as Sephora for Salon quality finds! Then compares which is worth their price tag.

Good quality shouldn’t be defined by the price of the product but rather the ingredients in them. SO I put my pro skills to work and compared ingredients, shopped both ends of the price scale and tried each product to help you understand which products are in fact actually better! I had a lot of fun filming this video I hope you found it helpful, if you did please don’t forget to share, like and subscribe! Thank you for watching!

Come along with me as i shop for a full hair, routine with only drugstore products and then compare them to more high-end salon products. So this is actually one of the first sulfate free drugstore shampoos like at least 10 years ago, and i've actually really been wanting to try this one. So i was hoping they had it in stock. It'S an in-shower glaze, that's just one product. I still need to create basically a full hair routine with drugstore products, so aussie is actually the first brand of like hair products that i actually bought myself. I was probably like 11 or 12, and this one i wrenched out and wasn't using what was just in the shower and if you've tried aussie products. It'S so incredible. Everyone talks about their three minute miracle mask, so we need a good mask. So these two so far are all about like nourishing and like hydrating, the hair. So next we definitely need to find some shampoo and conditioner all right. Now we arrive at hair color. This is actually kind of a sad small aisle for color, but they have included some more high-end colors. So that's pretty nice. So i've made a video in the past talking about if you're going to use a box dye which one i would use um this kristen s is actually incredible, and this is a hair gloss. We already have a gloss in our cart, but if you're looking for like a salon, quality gloss, this one is great for root touch-up. I think this is just as great as the rita hussain one from sephora, but yeah we're not going to be doing hair color. Today, but just kind of wanted to show you um just this is also a new line. Um packaging is really amazing because the products are already in here, so you take this off and it all blends and you can just disperse the product and apply straight to your hair, and you can see the undertone in the color by the bottle. So really good feature, and i would say this is the funnest aisle. I think this is a drugstore, but it's kind of elevated and has like literally salon products which is really exciting, and so this more high-end aisle at target is signed or designated as a clean hair care aisle which, if there's one thing that like. If you don't know where to start, i think that's one of the best ways. Shampoo is actually one of those things that, when you're washing your hair, it runs and touches all of your skin. So it is really really important to actually use good quality ingredients. So we've got all the nexus insulin, treatments we've got the kristen s and then function of beauty which we've all heard of. They are more like customizable hair treatment. So i figured i would get my shampoo and conditioner in this aisle and then maybe one styling product. All right, i've also heard a lot of good things about. It looks like a salon product um, it's clear, beautiful packaging, one thing that i think most non-hairdressers like when looking at products. They just will look at an aisle like this and feel completely overwhelmed and with a brand like this, you can tell this is their whole range and it says smooth, moisture volume, gentle, it's right off the bat. I always look for moisture, so that would be like an easy, shampoo and conditioner. Well, since we're here, i figured i would touch on heat styling and blow dryers. If there's one thing that i would not recommend getting at a drugstore would be heat or any hair. Styling tools, another favorite of mine from target - are these dry shampoos batiste we've all heard of them. I feel like they're, like one of the best smelling ones like best dry shampoo smells out there, so i currently am using the dark hair one. Now that i have a darker roots, so i did say i was going to get one styling item and one product that i think is incredible, especially if you're, just after a good good stronghold. So, whether you're doing your hair up or you're wanting that like slick ponytail tresemme, does do great, so their number here is obviously how strong the hold is. Maybe adam will try this one out all right, so i just grabbed the last product here at target tomorrow. We'Re going to go to sephora and do the same thing and get products that are a little bit more high-end and then we're going to try out both and compare convinced him to give me a what's your verdict better without cream, the cream is very creamy. All right guys, we are here, let's go in and do the same thing we did at target and get four all right, so we're at sephora and they display their products very similarly to a drugstore except there's a little bit more distinction between the brands. Each brand has kind of its own little space and they have more visuals and kind of posters to really explain what brand is all about and what it's for, making it a little bit easier to shop. So, of course, oldplex has its own shelf. It'S naturally what i gravitated towards, and even their new clarifying shampoo, also gon na grab the number eight the mask and, of course we have the moroccan oil corner and also amica. This brand here pattern is actually incredible for curly hair, it's a huge range which i love to see sometimes for curly, hair type, there's like one or two products. So i love that there is a dedicated line just for the specific hair type, all right guys. We did it, we shopped at two different stores and we got two full hair routines. So i've used each hair routine from the two different stores individually to see how i like the products and so i'll, share with you. What i learned all right so from the salon quality line, i use the oplex shampoo number four conditioner number five. I also tried the clarifying uh shampoo by opex the 4c and then the old plex number 8 bond intense mask so from this line. The only product new to me was a clarifying one i actually did enjoy that more than just their regular shampoo. I will be incorporating that into my um, more usual hair routine and then the oplex number eight. This is a great mask, so overall, really good, hair routine here and then one new product that i found at sephora. That actually excited me was this: a vegamore grow, and this is a scalp treatment that you put on your hair before you jump in the shower and then just shampoo and condition, and with my postpartum hair stage that i'm in right now, i'm looking for anything. That'S going to be amazing like this, so i love the way it felt. I love the way it cleansed out of the hair. Obviously i haven't seen any full-time results, yet i would be happy to let you know what i think about long-term all right so now, moving on into our drugstore products, i really really loved this monday line of shampoo and conditioner. I got the moisture line overall. It smelled great it instantly made the hair feel good, which is something that i do remember. I always felt that my hair, like if it was a moisturizing line it instantly my hair, felt moisturized, which used to scare me, because typically that means that there are silicones and parabens, and this was actually taken from the clean hair aisle. So if you were wanting to kind of clean up your hair routine, but without spending a ton of money on products, that is the aisle that i would start so overall, these two were great um, the glossing in shower acidic glaze. Now i have really high hopes for this, and red can make something almost exactly the same. It'S only an insulin treatment and i think in the back of my mind, i was comparing it to that. It wasn't as nice. This was probably the one product. I was the most excited about didn't, deliver too much. I didn't really it like in the shower. It didn't feel like anything special and once it was rinsed out of the hair, and i blow dried, my hair. I didn't notice like intense gloss results as it's advertised, but it is a ph balancing which that i really appreciate in the hair. I do feel like my hair, had definitely more volume. I am definitely attributing that to this the next product i wanted to try, even though i already had a shampoo and conditioner, i wanted to try a purple line from the drugstore. I tried this line, eva nyc. This actually looks really like a salon product. I like the size i like that it came with a pump smelled nice. This actually for a purple. Shampoo felt really nice. So as i was using it really impressed um did it have a ton of tonal benefits? I don't think so. I would say i left it on a good three to four minutes, which is pretty long for a purple shampoo, normally my purple shampoos. I leave on like 30 seconds to a minute, and i just i didn't see much of a difference um. I again, i think what i do love about. It was that it wasn't a drying and then the three minute miracle mask by ozzy. This is the one product that that second, it touches your hair. Your hair just feels like absolutely glossy buttery and just incredible so um, i think in the shower. This is the most wowing product because it just it instantly. Your hair is like no damage whatsoever. This hair has been you know, treated like a princess, its whole life. That'S what the hair feels like in the shower now, in order to test a good product, it is far more important to how the hair feels once it's dry than how it feels in the shower. Overall, i think my hair blow-dried actually quite nicely the only thing where my ends where they are highlighted: um or balayaged, so anytime, that i've washed my hair in years. I have not felt that like gummy or kind of stringy like ends where, like they're so dry, they almost want to connect. It makes the hair really tangly at the ends and like hard to brush out. I haven't felt that my hair in years. I'Ve also, of course, been so much more careful when i do lighten my hair. My hair hadn't felt like that in a really long time. That was the only thing, and it's kind of strange, because up here my hair felt glossy felt great um. I actually got way more volume than i have been getting with my salon products, so that was kind of a plus. But it was interesting to me that with something that's so like luscious and hydrating, how it could feel like that in the shower and then once i'm blow drying my hair an hour later, how my ends can feel just so icky then. Lastly, i said i wanted to get a styling product. I did get the tresemme hairspray, i don't use a ton of hairspray, but if i do have like a weird flyaway or like a weird piece of hair that sticks out in the front, i still feel like. Hairspray is like the best way i actually had adam. Try this he thought it was the hold was absolutely magnificent. So conclusion to everything is: if you are on the market for good quality, hair products and your budget doesn't allow for salon products, but you are looking for something that is still going to be good for the hair, i would say: stick to clean products and avoid These more, i feel like these two were a little bit more gimmicky. It'S like three minute miracle moist i mean that just sounds like it's going to heal your hair, no matter what this one too, even as a hairdresser, this one got me um glossing glaze in shower acidic glaze, ph, balancing four to five pa. I mean like this sounds like it was. You know, designed by a hairdresser chemist someone that really like knows their stuff, so i can see how it seems so promising. So my deal would be get all the clean products you can if the specific product you're looking for does not exist in the clean aisle, and it sounds too good to be true. I almost feel like you're, actually wasting your money, even if it's only three to five dollars. Another thing i was actually really surprised was the price of drugstore products have really gone up. I think i remember the last time i don't know like in my early 20s and buying drugstore products i feel like i remember i could get like a shampoo for five six dollars. Am i insane i feel like everything was ten dollars plus now so anyway, that's my spiel. I hope you learned a thing or two um. I hope you enjoyed shopping along with me. This video is actually really fun to film. So if you like this type of video, please give it a thumbs up. Sara Rose: Can you do a video like this with drugstore makeup and high end makeup? Thanks Sylvia ❤️ always love your content and appreciate it from a fellow cosmetologist

Sarah Buchanan: I've been using the 3 minute miracle mask for years! Definitely one of my favorites. Makes my hair super soft.

KT: I remember when Nexxus sold out and went mainstream. They discontinued some really awesome products and changed the formulation of others. One that’s been consistent for me has been Paul Mitchell. Mostly my issue with product is smell. When they get perfumey I’m out.

German Shepherd Daphne Channel: I heard that drug store brand that carry’s high end products such as those bed head , nexus etc aren’t really the same ingredients as if they were sold in a salon? Have you heard this?

Mrs. Anderson: I believe the ph gloss spray is supposed to be used between the shampoo and conditioner so that may be why it didn't do anything. Although I like the bond strengthening version better

Aeon Flux: Ok, you had a baby? You look amazing and cannot tell what so ever. You are drop dead gorgeous and I have wanted your look forever. From your cloths to make up to hair. The best part, you do it all skillfully and never skimping on quality. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You have taught me so much. I can't wait until I've saved enough to do a beauty consultation with you (I hope your still doing them). I think the content of what you teach on your channel is hard to find. Your perfect proof of what I think most women want to look like. Congratulations on having your first child, there is no greater treasure then family and yours like you is beautiful.

starsunmoon: Love it !!! Cant wait to try the shampoo n condtioner!

jwilk: Love these type of videos. Can you tell if it’s ok to put oils on dry hair then use a curling iron?

KT: I also want to add…speak with your dollars. If you buy something and it doesn’t work, take it back! I save all my receipts until I know I’m keeping the product.

Michal Fryar: For the Aussie mask you don’t have to take off the white cap, you just peel the sticker off and squeeze it! So convenient

Raelen Novak: Great video! I will be trying the Monday next!

Frances Keller: That No.8 mask is amazing

Samantha Mills: OGX is around $6 depending on the size. Do you have a review of them?

Blooming Accents: SYLVIA, can you please share your make up brands? Thanks so much

Simple Nail Designs: Great tips!

luv2garden1: Too many silicones. I didn't realize Olapex, except No 3, had silicones. So mine sits collecting dust. I can't stand the feeling of silicones on my hair. Have you tried JVN? I'm hooked! I was using Davines, JVN blows them out of the water! Congratulations on the baby, he's a cutie!

Ben Prosser: Can you do hair wash tutorial?x

HermitThefrog.: are you still using a level 7 on your ends they look lighter? i love your hair colour so much i just toned my level 9 ends with shades eq 9vg but think i want to go darker blonde at the ends like your hair should i use and 8 or 7?
