If you have curly hair I'm sure you already know the difference between mousse curls and gel curls, or maybe you’re like me and you’ve been styling your curls a certain way since you were 13! Today, I’ll showing you 2 different ways to add curls to your hair using a blow dryer diffuser!

I decided to split my hair right down the middle, so you could really see the difference in curl and wave pattern as my hair dries! Now for the mousse curls, and I'm sure I'm not alone, I've been doing this since I was a young teen. It’s more casual, quick, and more long lasting! I’m using Hairitage "Sky's The Limit" Volume Mousse on my left side. I like to get my hair a little dry before adding product, so that the mousse really holds in my hair... and just let the diffuser run through my hair like I'd normally dry my hair. And voilà - MOUSSE CURLS!

Now for more voluminous diffused curls, I recently learned to style my hair this way using curling créme! I love how more full and effortless my curls look using this method! The biggest difference in this style to start with, is that your hair has to be very damp, essentially still soaked, for this method to really work. TRUST ME ON THIS! It take way longer to diffuse the curls, but the restyle are AMAZING! (Be sure to keep all the curls enacted as you diffuse. This allows the curls to really bounce once the hair dries.)

These 2 curly hairstyles are both VERY EASY methods to learn, yet produce such different results! Which do you like better, and WHY? Comment below!

( upbeat music playing ), Hey everyone, I'm Mindy from Cute Girls, Hairstyles and today we are going to talk all things curls and hair routine.. So I'm seeing a trend on TikTok and Instagram going around where it kind of compares like 2018-19 hair curl routines to 2022, and I thought it would be fun. Just for the record. I don't think there's a wrong or a right., It's just very different styling and it produces different results.. So I thought it would be fun to do literally a side-by-side of, like you know, five years ago, how to do a curl routine to today, curl routine. For some women and show you what it looks like on their hair and why it's working differently.. So if you guys haven't already followed my channel, you can do that by clicking the button right here and let's get into the video. Okay.. So I have parted my hair down the middle.. I am going to take this side and just put it out of the way for right now.. We will come back to it later., And this side is what I'm going to work with. And I'm going to show you basically on this side what you would've done. I mean honestly what I've been doing with my hair since pretty much. I was a kid.. First and foremost, I used a microfiber towel on my hair on both sides and dried it on this side. It's damp, but it's not drippy wet.. You can see it's like damp, but not drippy wet.. I don't call'em curls. I call'em more. Like waves, but when I diffuse my hair and do it right and add the right products, I can get it to really bounce and look curlier.. This is pretty much damp And what I would do normally is take a mousse. Today, I'm using the Hairitage by Mindy mousse, and I would spray a good amount in my hands, and I would just I would probably even use more than that kind of coat, not Like that not like that much at one spot, but I would kind of just put it in my hair and you can see that while I'm doing this, I am scrunching my hair and just kinda scrunching scrunching scrunching and you can see I'm just scrunching. And I Kind of use the raking method to put it in my hair., Some people use the pray hands method, but I just kind of rake it in and you can see I'm starting to get a little more definition in my curl. And now I would take my blow. Dryer., I would add a diffuser. Voila Snap, it on., And then I would start diffusing. My hair. Now you're gon na see before I start diffusing. It cause it's gon na get louder. What I'm going to do is just basically be doing this motion kind of trying to get it up into the roots. Diffuse diffuse diffuse like this, and I'm also gon na, be using this hand to kind of scrunch and lift, as I'm diffusing. With this method. I'M not too worried about disrupting the curls themselves.. I'M just kind of you know diffusing as I go, using the teeth to keep it off of my scalp. Okay.. So that's what I'm gon na do: now. ( upbeat music playing ) Okay. So finished. Basically, on this side. For the record, I used the high speed, but I used medium heat.. You can use high heat if you want, but I don't recommend it. And you can see the curls I got. So they're, still pretty bouncy. They're light. They're little bit like not uniform.. You can see that it's a little more. I don't wan na use. The word disheveled, because that makes it sound negative.. It'S just not sleek., It's more of a beachy wave or curl look., And I would use it like this for day one. And then on day. Two. I would probably use a hair refresher like this one to just spritz after I sleep on the curls and kind of just re-scrunch and refresh the curls., Or you could even use something like this Hairitage vitamin, A sugar spray to spritz a little more on and it's Gon na give you a little bit of grit and a little texture to the curls to just kind of keep'em, looking what I call beachy.. So that's what you're going for on this side. Okay. Now I'm gon na show you what I would do on this side. If I were doing curls today and what people are doing now to do their hair a little bit differently., So the first thing I would do is start with my hair wet. And when I mean wet, I mean wet drippy wet., And the reason is that there Are three main bonds in your hair holding them together: disulfide bonds, water bonds and salt bonds and, if you're, having wet water lots of water in your hair? It allows your hair a lot more flexibility and a lot more where you can maneuver your hair and you can create those curls and it reformulates those curl patterns. And then as it dries it stays in there.. This would be too dry. Okay.. So I have my Hairitage by Mindy spray bottle and I'm gon na spritz until it's wet., Okay., Okay. ( upbeat music playing ), Okay, and this is wet-wet. So you can see it's drippy., So I have stuck my towel under my shoulder and we are just letting kind of our natural wave and curl hit.. I'M going to take a little tiny bit of curl cream.. This is the Hairitage by Mindy curl cream and I'm going to put a little blob of it and I'm going to just kind of pray hands it on. Okay.. We are trying not to disrupt the curls a ton.. We want the curls to just sort of do their thing.. We want them to form.. Can you see how that chunk is forming? That'S what we want. ( upbeat music playing, ) Rake it if you have to, but try not to disrupt the curls too much. Okay.. Once we got that going, then we are going to add a little bit of gel.. I'M gon na use the Hairitage by Mindy gel and, at the end, we're just gon na kind of lightly scrunch big hand, fulls letting the natural curl kind of form. And what you're looking for is this.. You see how these are just sort of naturally forming themselves. Once you get to this point, there's two things that I've seen people doing. One is some people take a brush or a comb and run it through and try to kind of form a little bit of a curl with their combs or their brushes., Like especially if It'S like a like a curl-forming brush., So you can do that. Or you can just go with what you naturally get.. In this case, you can see my curls.. I want you to listen, though cause I want you to hear how much moisture there still is. In my hair. ( squishing sound ), Can you hear how much water there's still is in my hair, And you can see like this? Look to me it just what happens? Is it forms more? I call'em chunks., Okay, It's more chunky pieces of curls and the goal is to do as little disruption of those as humanly possible.. So on this side I was a little more like whatever diffuse, diffuse, diffuse and this side, I'm gon na be a lot more gentle.. I'M going to use the diffuser again on my hair dryer, but I am going to be doing it in a low heat and a low air speed.. It'S gon na take longer. And you'll, see that I'm going to be very gentle in, like just the lifting and letting the hair dryer sit and then releasing trying not to break and disrupt these clumps. ( hair dryer blowing ) ( upbeat music playing ) Okay. Done.. That'S definitely not the faster method. Um that took probably three times the amount of time to dry, my hair, because I was being so particular and careful, but you can see the difference. If you look especially on my underneath hairs, I have these intact like more ringlety. Looking curls, which is really unusual for me, because that's not typically, my curl pattern is more wavy, remember Not like corks screw curls.. So typically, my hair looks more like this on its own.. So, by doing this, I get a lot more of that corks screw curl shape.. You definitely have to just sort of allow your hair to do its thing. When this dries a little bit more up in my roots, it's gon na be even puffier up on top and more luminous.. This side will actually dry a little bit flatter just because it's nearly dry now., So the volume I'm gon na get is there.. This side ends ends up being a little bit shorter. I think than this side because it's pulling more of that lift up into the curl and it will get even puffer. Now remember. My hair typically is like a 2B, maybe a 2C.. So if you have like 3A hair a 3B hair, like even a 3C hair, I mean doing this version is gon na really get that curl in those little corkscrews going crazy.. The gel is gon na help set the hair, which is gon na, leave it lasting a little bit longer. This side. I can just refresh it in the morning and it will spruce back up., But mostly I do it for what am I doing for the day? Like if I'm going to the beach, where I know the wind's gon na blow my hair like crazy anyway, I probably would do this style, because this looks a little more beachy like breezy., I'm not as worried about the curls getting messed up.. This side is definitely more like placed look.. So if I know I'm going somewhere nicer or wanting to go for three days and I'm just gon na be at home running around this side is more what I would tend to do. And then you know just let it live and get more lived in. As the week goes, on., Like I said in my opinion, there's not a wrong answer., It's just depending on your hair type, how much time you have where you're going, what you wan na style, with what products your hair reacts well to, and you can see two Very different, looks., Okay, I wanted to come into some better lighting and show you here is just the beachy side.. You can see it right there. And here is the more curled side. You see the more like defined curls. And there's definitely like more puff on this side. Now, where this site is kind of falling flatter., So that's it., Okay, guys.. I hope you found that informative. Hope that helped. Definitely send me pictures of you guys, trying out both versions on your hair. I'd love to see'em.. And if you have more questions you can leave'em in the comments. Below., Don't forget if you wan na see other videos of mine, you can click any of these buttons over here. And otherwise we will see you guys next week, Bye, guys ( upbeat music playing )

Mindy McKnight: Which curl style do you like the most, and why? COMMENT BELOW! ✅ Also, shop my NEWLY LAUNCHED Hairitage hair care products, including heat styling tools and hair accessories, in stores exclusively at Walmart, or online HERE: https://shopstyle.it/l/btxSQ ❤'s -Mindy

Kate W: I started using a Denman brush with a “curl training” method and my curls last so much longer! I usually go about 7-10 days with my 3b/c hair and I currently still have defined enough curls to wear a significant amount of it down at the very end now! I can even run a brush through it and they’ll still reform as curls, it’s amazing.

Liya Mathews: Im a curly hair girl. And i think the curl creme suits best for me. The curl creme method is part of the curly girl method which is very popular these days. So glad that you took am effort to show us a comparison that helps other hair types. Truly shows your dedication Looking forward to more such videos. ❤️

Liya Mathews: Love the rebranding. ❤️Also love all the hair tips tricks hacks that you have been teaching us. Very informative. Cant wait for the new products. U guys really listen to the audience and lauch products that satisfy our wants. Wishing you all the success for your business. ❤️

Charu Shekhar: Hey Mindy! I wanted to tell you that last week, I did a really cool hairstyle inspired by you and Princess Hairstyles: headband twist into a side ponytail using a gold braided headband :D I've been working from home and we all need easy and quick hairstyles! Thanks for the inspiration <3

Charu Shekhar: I personally think the side where you used curl cream looks a bit better :) But both are fab!

Marleen G.: Mindy, your natural texture is *so* pretty. My waves are about that when I want them to be really "alive". I went natural in my 30s and just wish I had done it sooner. Such low maintenance hair. No having to blow dry it straight, straighten it. My routine was a curl cream + gel + a serum, but I have recently gone back to a curl mousse (there is a difference between a volume mousse and a curl mousse believe it or not) and it's so much fun! I think you barely see a difference between both sides, to be fair. All that effort for the other side? Why? I just scrunch my product in on hair that comes out the towel, and call it a day. Whatever product I use!

Charu Shekhar: I love mousse! Even though I don’t use it often , I really love the Hairitage and Suave volumizing mousses ❤

Crystal Navis: Would love to see more curly hair styling!

Jessica Harrington: Some amazing tips Mindy, I will definitely be trying this soon!

amyart89: Hey Mindy, first of all, I love your hair both ways. I’ve got a question to the “more defined” style. I’m a new mom and I wash my hair at night, because I just have more time then. How should I “wear” my hair at night and how refresh it in the morning so that it looks nice? My hair is shoulder length and I also have wavy hair. I’m thankful for advice ☺️ greetings from Germany!

kayla russell: I definitely need more videos of curly hair tips and tricks

Cindy: I love both sides. Your hair looks great!

Carly Chetlain: I can't afford to constantly get your products. But I did get the dry conditioner you make and sell. I love it and it smells so good too. I sprayed some in my hair and brushed my hair out. I had a few people ask me what I did to make my hair smell good and I showed them. They got it too and they love it as well

Lola Weatherly: Hi Mindy! This hair looks really good on you Mindy. Does Brooklyn have a similar hair texture as you Mindy? If not, could you do a tutorial with her natural hair since her seems to be similar to yours since Baileys seems straight and Kamri and Ryan’s seems like all straight. Congratulations once again with another marriage in you’re family! Are you and Dakotas mom planning on a conjoined party for both Brooklyn and Dakota so the siblings could meet each other? I hope y’all had a great Easter! Love y’all !! ❤️

Elizabeth's Life and Craziness: Love the video Mindy ❤️❤️❤️❤️hope you and the family are doing well and staying safe

Chloe Jackson 💙💚: I use mousse to do my hair everytime because I have very curly hair and it helps define my curls

Maisie Le Poidevin: I love your videos! I’m not the best at doing my hair so you help me sooo much! I also love how you rebranded :) Love from Scotland

bella price: I’m curious to hear what your thoughts are on Innersense. I have curly hair and I use this product. The shampoo, conditioner, curl cream, and gel. Are you going to come out with a curly hair line? It’s so hard to find good products that are good for your hair and help keep it clean. I have used Innersense for a year now and I like it so far

Karen Rademacher: This will date me but my go to hairdo was a Farrah Fawcett style! Full on blow and curling iron! Speed was important. Now I am wash and wear. My haircut styles my hair. I've been blessed with healthy hair with lots of body. My mom used to call it springs when she tried to put it up in pink foam curlers. With Dipity Do, it would stay curled for days. Now I am trying to figure out how to do my daughters' hair. My 10 year old has curly, but very fragile hair that looks rather unhealthy. It knots up like crazy and even taking out the Hairitage bands can cause breakage. ‍ The 11 year old has fairly straight, thick, healthy looking hair that gets a lot of knots in it when it is longer. They are adopted full siblings and tax my haircare abilities to the max!! My 35 year old daughter has extremely curly hair. It was straight with body until she hit puberty. ‍♀️Thick and healthy looking. My 23 year old son is wash and wear, but would benefit from more frequent haircuts. Everyone's hair is so different and can be difficult to figure them all out.

𝚔𝚎𝚗𝚣𝚒𝚎: Mindy, you look absolutely GORGEOUS in this! I hope your day is well ❤️❤️

E A Lowe: Hey Mindy I really love your Hairitage curl cream it’s my mom favorite lol she gone through like 3 or 4 bottles she loves it so much lol I really like it too and the shampoo it’s so nice makes my hair so soft I’ve been using it a lot I have short hair so make it’s feel soft .i love you hair products especially my mom she loves the curl cream lol Elizabeth

Audrey Curry: this is actually really helpful thank you!

lori craven: I like the beachy side more. My hair is straight but it can hold a curl a little bit

neva marie :): I love your videos so much! Your family is the best!

olivia claire: love your videos mindy! and i’m also excited and happy for you about the rebranding of your channelhope your fam is doing well and i’m so excited for brooklyn + dakota’s wedding! i cannot believe how fast the time has gone. i also started my own channel if ya want to check it out!!

Jan And Jar: Yess! I wanna try a new product on my new hair

Adwita RK: Love this so much! And your videos!:) I have super thick and slightly wavy hair, anything you recommend?!:)

Jamie Bolanos: Hey mindy quick question does this work on straight hair ! I have like kamri’s type of hair texture

alayna labar: Love you and your family !

Rebecca Burns: Would this work on someone with 2A hair?

arehall: Do you still sell the Day 2 Refresher? I can't find it online or In store anymore.

Lindsey Daly: Love you, love how you are posting so much now.

Sera Katkowski: Hi Mindy McKnight I love your vlogs and I love your channel

Ava Heggie: You have pretty hair. I have straight hair and do have any videos of prom hairstyles? I have prom this Friday and I don’t know what to do with my hair.

Special K: You’re so beautiful!

Lindsey Daly: Love you, can’t wait for wedding bts

Donavan Johnson: Hope yall had a great Easter yesterday

Syniah Thomas: I have 4c hair and it's so thick

Lindsey Daly: What to do, because my hair is super frizzy

Heather Astbury: Love you

ashley burk: good one

Aaron Villatoro Luna: Hi Mindy!

Sydni Ausberry: Romans 10:9-10- If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Accept Jesus into your life today He is loving and everything you need in this life and the life after! He loves you immensely, open up Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in your Bible and read about Him. Get to know who He is :). John 14:6- Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."✝️❤ Being a Christian will not always be easy, and does not mean that you won't experience temptation and sin; we are humans after all. Furthermore, we must ask for forgiveness for all of our sins. You may lay your burdens at His feet. Forgiving others for their sins is also very important. Jesus said- "14For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." (Matthew 6:14-15) "8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us." (1 John 1:8-10) “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28). We are cleansed by the blood of Jesus because of His great sacrifice on the cross. " 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." (John 3:16-18) "6If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." (1 John 1:6-7) If you seek God, you are seeking eternity with Him! God bless you all, seek Him and you WILL find Him❤
