What is up beauties? It'S lindsay welcome back to my channel and happy march girl. We are kicking off this month with trying something new with my hair. If you've been subscribed to my channel forever, you know that my hair reviews and tutorials are normally with wigs or with clip and extensions, but in this video i'm trying something totally new. We are installing tape in extensions for the first time in my life. So if you would like to see how i did it and learned some tips, some pros and cons a few failures along the way and everything else to achieve this, look keep on watching today's hair is from curls queen. You all have seen them on my channel before i've tried their straight clip-ins they're curly clip-ins and i absolutely love how they blend with natural black hair. So that's why i love this brand, so much um, but we are going in with tapens. Today i have three bundles: each bundle has 42 wefts and two f's make up one little tape and set so that's 21 sets per bundle. I have three bundles, like i said so, that's 63 sets. I have to work with now. I actually only ended up using about two bundles, but, as you guys know, my hair is naturally thinner on the finer side. So if you do have thicker hair, i definitely recommend using a full three bundles. As for the hair quality perfect, as always, i literally have zero complaints when it comes to the quality and texture. Excuse me of this hair uh. It feels incredible. It'S not overly shiny or silky. Looking there's zero shedding and my favorite part is that it smells like nothing. There'S no factory smell plasticky smoky smell, nothing, it's perfect and i love the fullness and the ends. Now, let's get into a few more goodies that they sent over with the hair everything came stored in this satin bag. That also doubles as a bonnet. So if you want to protect your hair at night, you've got a bonnet right here. We'Ve got this gorgeous detangling brush the gold brush, which i actually didn't use, but i do love brushes like this. They also threw in three sectioning clips that i do use some extra tape that i ended up not using not needing, but if you are going to reuse your tape, ins and wash them and want to add some more tape, you can do that um. They also do in a rat tail comb with a little sectioning part at the top. Now, if you're new to tape - and it's a pretty simple concept, it's the application part itself - that's a little bit tricky starting out. But, as for the concept, it's simple all you're going to do is take small sections of your hair and sandwich it in between two wefts. The adhesive locks everything in place. So you can just go about your business without having that heavy and like irritating feeling of clippings on your head now i was supposed to get these professionally installed at a salon in glendale, but by the time i received the hair the stylus was already booked out, Like a month and a half i'm impatient, so i was like you know what we're just gon na do it at home. So i watched the tutorials and tried to figure it out best. I could first people were saying to just wash your hair with shampoo only and while i understand the reasoning, my hair is just way too dry to do that, so i did go in with shampoo and conditioner. This is my favorite duo from vegamore. You guys have seen it on my channel before and after that i went in with my bellamy blow dryer. This one is a little pricey, not gon na lie it's like 300, but i'ma stick beside it. Okay, i love that there's so many different speeds and temperatures and everything you can control um with this blow dryer. So the hair is all blown out, but before we go in with our flat iron, we need my favorite magic mist. Can y'all tell i'm out of breath right now all right girl? I took a breather, but this is my favorite magic mist from in common are y'all sick of hearing me talk about this stuff. I'M sorry! I won't stop because this is some true, life-changing elixir and you all need it in your life because you want to achieve the salon quality. Look at home right, okay, i filmed a real on instagram with this stuff and someone was like girl. That'S just the flat iron, i did it, but it's not. These are the times i wish you could like reach through the screen and feel the difference the product makes because you can use it on damp, hair or dry hair and it functions as everything. A heat, protectant, hydrator, de-frizzer, detangler, repair gloss. You know, you name it. This stuff can do it. So i swear by this stuff. I think everyone needs it if you are applying any type of heat to your hair and your hair will look feel and smell. Like you just walked out of a salon and i'm obsessed with it, okay, so moving on, we are moving into the parting. This is when i started to get a wee bit nervous. Okay, no seriously! You know that meme of the aliens said like oh we're up next, i'm nervous, that's how i was feeling um. So this is my first time doing this. Like i said, i had zero practice and i'm just winging it like most things in my adulthood, so i sectioned off the front area because we'll be working with that area last and then i sectioned off the. Why did i say like that? Sectioned off the very bottom section of my hair, because that's where we would normally go in with like our first clip and weft, but i want to avoid this area because in the event that i put my hair up into a ponytail, you won't see the tape In so i next parted a teeny, tiny section and we're going to start working right here. Pull the film off apply that right there on the hair. If you don't like the placement, you can go ahead and lift it and move the placement before sandwiching it together, because once you sandwich it girl, it's stuck so i found a placement that was comfortable. I flipped that with weft over and you can see my natural hair is there on the tape and then i went in with the second weft. Where am i i'm sorry um? I went in with the second weft to adhere the two together. Congratulations. You'Ve completed your first taping, but unfortunately you failed, sis cause girl. Look at that a mess um yeah. So clearly you can see that my first one looks a disaster. The wefts aren't aligned perfectly it's a little crooked too. This whole, like first row that i did um honestly looks a mess, but thankfully it's just the first row and no one will see it. So we can afford to mess up a little bit right here um. So you can see how we're looking so far and how much we have left to go to blend this, like blunt cut that i have going on um now, a few things, a few tips. If this is your first time doing this yourself, i would recommend keeping your nails short. I have some press-on nails on in this video. Keep your nails short if you're doing it on yourself, if you're doing it on someone else's like head the nail shouldn't, be that much of an interference, because you can see what you're doing on someone else's head. But when you can't see the back of your head and you just kind of got ta feel around and hope for the best you'll get a better outcome and probably be done a lot faster. If you just didn't, have lung nails so yeah don't be like me. The next thing is, there are a handful of different methods that professional use professionals use when it comes to their application process and how they stagger the wefts. So that's just so that you're not seeing like gaps in the hair. Obviously, but again, if i was working on someone else's head, i'd most likely have a better stagger, brick position layout going on um but girl. For me i was just taping them where i saw fit. I was turning around every so often to make sure that there were no large gaps and it was fine um. I will say some of my wefts especi, especially on that front row. We'Re way too close together, they're like bumping each other playing bumper cars. But it's a learning process: okay, we're figuring it out um, but another tip is to make sure that you don't take these too close to your scalp as well, because it will be uncomfortable. I learned the hard way you don't want to take them too low, because you'll obviously see the tape, but if you tape it too high, it can cause irritation. So you want to make sure you can comfortably flip that weft up and down before adhering the sandwich together. Now, as i move further up my head, it was getting a lot easier to do. I also love that these tape ins aren't heavy, so i could barely feel them. Sometimes i forgot i had them on which is like a dream, and once i reach that top section, i made sure not to tape any more rows similar to how we started um. Just so that you won't see the tapes and it looks like it's just growing straight out of my head now on the front sections. That is where i can actually finally see at this time. I think i was like 35 to 45 minutes in maybe um. I didn't time this, but i feel like the whole process, took about an hour and 15 minutes, maybe hour. I don't really know, but over an hour um. So these front sections. Yes, it's easier to see where you're applying the tape ins, but you know your head and you should be mindful of like your sensitive spots, your nose zones. I know some of you may not have sensitive spots at all. You could just tape or clip or braid any area of your head and you're fine with no problems, but not i okay. I made the mistake of sandwiching a weft that was not only in a sensitive spot on my head, but it was also way too close to my scalp and girl within like a week a little bump had formed, so just be mindful of that. If there's areas you typically wouldn't put a clip in or you know that you don't like tracks in a certain area based on how you like to part your hair or how you like to sleep, just take all those things into consideration when applying these tape ins. So i went ahead and applied the remaining tapes to the other side of my head, and this is how we are looking girl. The hair came out, beautiful it wasn't heavy. My scalp could still breathe. So i see why people get tape, ins for traveling and vacation, because they're comfortable and easy to manage. Now i had these in for just like about a week and a half before i decided to actually style it guys. Please excuse this angle. I know my camera should have been a little bit further back for y'all to see, but i was having a day this day. A lot was going on. My hair was getting a little bit greasier. I was filming a lot of back-to-back content and i had an eye infection from some lash glue to top it all off, so we were just kind of going through it, but um. Let'S get this hand together, so my grease wasn't like out of this world crazy, but a little bit of dry shampoo would have tackled that real quick. I just didn't use it, but i did go in with some more of my in common magic mist and i used that all over the hair. I gave it a little bit of a trim because it was down to my waist like waistband area prior to cutting it um. So i gave it a little trim and i went in with my foxy bag curling wand to give it a little bit of life and that's what we did. That'S all. We did. I like brushed through it and did a little vow of foam and it was looking cute um. I had these tapens in for about three weeks total. I know a lot of people wear them so much longer um and if i didn't have other hair content i had to film, i probably would have left them in a little bit longer. I didn't experience any irritation besides that one weft that was like way too close to my scalp other than that, like it was good. It was smooth sailing. It felt comfortable. I loved the look of it. As for the removal process, i didn't film it, but i just saturated my hair, the tape ins and my natural hair, both of them um at the root with the whey rose, hair and body oil um, i love the stuff i just had it laying around. I know they have actual remover, you can use for tape ins, but that oil worked. It didn't pull out my natural hair or anything like that. It was pretty smooth sailing. It was easy, so i loved that um, but that is all for this video. So i hope you guys enjoyed it. I hope you picked up a few tips and tricks. Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below i've got all of curls, queen's links and other products. Pitts Twins: This was definitely a sign for me to finally get tape ins they look amazing !!! So gorg

EmpireOnEighteenth: I’m not about to try with this because I’m not that talented but you killed it!!! It came out SO good! And seeing your hair after you flat ironed it has me TOO excited to get my hair flat ironed and trimmed on Friday. It looks sooo healthy and nice!

JaiChanellie: Your natural hair looks silky smooth! The bundles blend really well

Dawana Abdi Kahin: I’ve been going back and forth trying to decide between tape ins or clip ins this turned out so beautiful!!!!

jakia: This vid is right on time! I have very fine hair and I notice that clip ins rip my hair out, but I've been thinking of doing tape ins on myself instead.

Jhazzmin Rose: Thank you for this tutorial. I’ll definitely be doing some tape-ins on my own.

shortbutsweet25: You make it look so easy ❤️

Ronda S: Do the underline weft first, then the top - it helps so much girl

M K: I used to wear tape ins all the time until I found nano ring extensions. They were so easy to install, flat and if you took care and placed them right they totally lasted. I hated the take down though always a mess and I got so impatient. If I ever cut my long hair I would try them again.

itsTawanza: These are so beautiful. I’ve been wanting something in between a sew in and clips in so I searched for micro links and this video popped up. I didn’t know you could do tape ins on yourself and even reuse them. Sorry if I missed this at the end, but did you film yourself taking them down after the 3 weeks? And do you plan to reuse this set?

Belgian Mermaid: After watching this amazing video , I’m definitely influenced to get tape in extensions like the blend legit looks like your hair

MsVoluptuousBeauty: Just subscribed and loving it! I was always curious about how this technique was done. I have a question tho: I'm at the age of having summer heat year round, is this something that would be good for me? I'm a sweater and my hair is the one place that gets a lot of it. Secondly, how do you remove the hair? You mentioned oil but a video on how to remove the hair would be very helpful. Other than that, you made the technique workable for the everyday layman. Keep those informative videos coming gurl!
