Hair Tutorial: How I Do My High Ponytail & Slick Back Bun

Foreign, so today I'm here to finally share with everybody how I be doing that little ponytail. I don't really know what I'm gon na name this video, but the whole premise is for y'all to kind of get off of my back and to stop asking me these questions. So I'm just here to show and really not too my name is Melina and thank you for tuning in to the show ah wait. I forgot how many hairstyles, I'm gon na show three hairstyles first hairstyle we're gon na show. Is this one I'll just put a picture? Second hairstyle, I'm gon na show you how to do is well. I already kind of like showed you how to do my Afro. I guess it's just two. I only got two things to show y'all. Unless something comes up and then I'm gon na show y'all how to do my slick back little bun in the back and then I think if I'm feeling generous, I'm gon na give like an updated hair routine. I gave one like four years ago, but it's just much more entertaining now that my hair is blonde because a common question that I get asked basically anything that has to do with my hair, because it is just uh. You know interesting, color and uh. It'S just intriguing for some people, some people anyway, first hairstyle, I'm going to show you is this ponytail, so the products that you're gon na need for this hairstyle you're going to need edge control. This is the type of edge control that I use. I had to go, buy a new one and I was pissed. I just wanted to tell y'all that then we we need Eco styling gel, then we're going to need hair ties. I just lost the one that I actually need to use, I'm a little nervous right now. This isn't going good already. Oh it's right here and I need at least two of these man bobby pins. I don't always use bobby pins, but um you should you. Should I'm just gon na tell you you should, or I mean have fun because I mean trying to do this without bobby pins. Don'T I think I might have put way too much on, but my skin is really dry, so I'm gon na take whatever I can get. I'M not gon na complain anyway. Right now, yeah, don't try to do this without bobby pins. It'S just not gon na. Be fine, it's it's just like it's. It'S not a possibility. I can do it without bobby pins, but I would never, in my life tell y'all to do that because that's the worst advice. The last time I wore this, I had to do a thought about the pen. It'S not fun, anxiety, attack, panic, attack, motion, sickness, nausea, your knowledge, the nah, you're nauseous. You are experiencing nausea the whole time, because the anxiety is just too much get a bobby pin. We'Re going to need brush Edge brush and a scarf okay. This honestly isn't complicated at all, I'm just in a really talkative mood today. So it might take me a while to do this and it's actually not going to take you this long, but me personally, I'm gon na take a longest time. First, we're going to untwist our hair. I like to just have my hair Twisted out to start this hairstyle off. I don't know why I'm saying so much my skin, my hair is really dry. My hair has been in these twists for, like a week, can't even lie untwist untwist again untwist. All these. When you untwist all of them, let me know this is literally. I can't believe when you untwist this, I like to not too much I like to on on. Do this. You saw that what I just did do it okay, but only do it one time not too much. This is kind of how we start off the high afro. If you watch my little morning routine video, this is kind of how we start that off we're just starting off normal way like you're supposed to do one, don't do too much, I mean, but you know I will say: everybody's hair is different and for my I'm Just going to go ahead and do it like once, oh once you do that now we're going to get us some sort of stick, some sort of uh. What'S the proper word that I should use, I'm sort of like red tooth comb, we're gon na line it up? Oh hold up, I'm showing out a raw hairstyle once you do that we're going to just grip this all up grip! It up get your ponytail right on top of your head now some people, Lord Hummers, I need to dye my hair. I don't like to dye my hair on camera. Now, though, because people will give me anxiety, everybody just be talking to him. Projecting on to me. Your hair's gon na fall out. You you, why are you doing this? Why you? Why and it's just like it's just crazy. Everybody turned into a professional hairstylist when it's time for Melania to dye her hair. Sometimes it's not needed. Sometimes it's just hate. Sometimes it's just people who just weird Okay, so once you do that, I like mine to be at the top of my head personally for the type of head shape that I have. I feel like it looks best on me if we can get it as high as it possibly can go without it being a damn hairline. Sometimes, if mine is too far, it looks absolutely crazy, even though, like I'm, the only one that notices this type stuff, but whatever let me notice it, it's my business brush a little bit of the green hold up. Let me scoop some now a little bit scarce. It'S a little scary out. I hope y'all could keep up with it. I hope I'm not explaining this like really slow, evenly, spread we're gon na go ahead. Brush up Perfection, I just put a little bit too much we don't have to like. I don't even know what we're gon na do. I just put too much on what the hell we gon na do now ever since I'm here, texture is a little bit different than what I've been used to my whole life. Sometimes I don't require as much product. Then, before I dyed my hair, it's very weird so sometimes like I'll be having a portion controller. I just put too much sometimes so, don't even like talk about me when it comes to how much I'm putting on, because I'm still trying to figure it out. I honestly just freestyle so um, just you're gon na have to too so after I do that we're gon na have to brush up the back. Please guys brush up the back. Please you can't not do this step brush up the back and spread it out. Some! Don'T walk out the house when you don't got the back brushed up? Okay and if the back ain't brushed up y'all please brush up the back. Now I will say I don't always put like a heavy amount of edge control in the back all the time, but I do put a little bit of the Green and brush it up brush up the back. Don'T come out the house with the back not brushed up talking about like Elena taught me this? No, I didn't. I don't know who taught you that one wasn't Milan as you're doing this and you gather your hair up make sure you kind of. Like keep mental note on where you want your ponytails to be brush it in the direction, this is dead, serious, stuff guys. This is life or death, pay attention, classes and say now we're going to need because we're going to get edge control. I just like to use a little amount. You know I'm just the type of chick that, like mine, just slicked up and smooth just like slipped up and stable, you get what I'm saying just like uh, you know in place. I just like mine to be just a whoosh I like to just spread out the edge control, try to make it even don't be alarmed if this is your first time doing this and, like you feel as though it's not looking well enough, just keep trying okay, When I first started doing this ponytail, I I couldn't get it and I cried. I cried on camera, but I took the video down, so don't go looking for that anyway, but now I do it so well that I could do this in like five minutes. Obviously, I'm not doing it in five minutes right now, because I'm talking to you guys, of course this is a little bit in slow motion, because I'm talking to y'all but yeah here we go. We just sort of have a just just look it up y'all, just a little bit too much. I'M only doing way too much right now. I just kind of messed this up. Oh Jinky, what we finna do, I'm gripping it too much just like it's coming all out of place, causing a rocket grip it up rip it all around. My arms are starting to hurt because I'm doing too much, I'm not gon na do the back just because uh I just I really should do the back though, but I'm not going to I'll do the back burning it out. First brushing it up. Second, see that wasn't so hard foreign after that we're going to get your placement right, put it in a ponytail when you put this in a ponytail, make sure that it is tight. Make sure that you don't make yourself bald, though, don't do too much, don't grip! It in too much unless you want a bald spot, unless you want your head to hurt, don't ever put no damn ponytail on your head and it hurts we're not going go ahead. Make sure it's in the place you want it to be. This is like the most important step. In my opinion, I don't think I have this exactly where I wanted to go. This just pissing me off. Okay, I'm about to move this a little bit more. This ain't gon na make it more. I don't really like breathe during this stuff and I don't really like speak or talk, because it's that much pressure to me. It'S that important to me get a little tight grip of your ponytail, that's still kind of not where I want to feel. But let me focus on positives, okay, we're all live at breathing today, and that should be enough you're going to need to just put it in a little bun, but don't make the bun bit make it very scared, make it very, very scarce as scarce as you Can this is the tricky part as well, because everybody's hair is different, so I'm sorry, why did I say that, like so concerned, like I said that, like so deep, I'm sorry, okay, I'm gon na somehow try to like put this? Usually, I don't leave this much hair out. I'M gon na just somehow whip it around there's a lot of different ways to get this. I'Ve never actually tried this way, but my heart is telling me to do it this way, so I'm gon na try to do it this way as small as you possibly can squeeze it in do what you have to do. This little bunny goes guys once you do that we're going to get some hair. I literally just have freaking Beauty Supply, braiding, hair that we're gon na use. Today you can get like a clip-in ponytail, but we don't have that today, maybe one day I'll show you how to do it with a clip in a ponytail. I feel like this. Ponytail is just for emergencies, sometimes like when you use the braiding hair. It should be for emergency always have braiding hair in my house. So that's why we have it. We already have a little strip open, we're gon na. Do two strips get a ponytail holder. You need a very tight ponytail holder like brand new. Basically, this is a brand new hair tie. It'S just much easier to do this. If you guys all listen to me and do exactly what I said, life is just way better. I want not everybody do that. I tried doing this with a hair tie. That'S not brand new and it's just not fun. It'S not fun. It'S really hard! Good luck! That'S all! I'M gon na say eyeball. It'S glitching! I might glitchy right now. Oh my God. I just threw all this crazy. Okay, once you do that there she is rip. It in the middle hang tight, don't let it Loose get the hair tie the brand new hair top the way that you do. This you're gon na put the hair tie right here, you're going to somehow you're gon na somehow do this you're gon na somehow go like this and you're gon na somehow go like that. That'S for y'all to discuss in the comments um, because I just can't explain. I don't know how to say that out loud. I hope everybody is visual Learners here today. That'S all I got that's all that I can do once you do that grip it in visual learning time. This is definitely visual learning time for everybody you're going to go and do this uh whatever you call, this step is whatever you know, you're going to somehow go like this twist it around and you're, going to tie it into the baby ponytail you just made. It'S simple: as that you're going to go like this, get you a little slight, don't make it too big if you make it too big, good luck, don't make it too small. I feel like this is another step where it's like. It'S very detrimental detrimental. It'S very detrimental that you do this stuff right. Okay, take your time, you know, don't breathe, don't talk, do whatever you have to do to get your earrings, because I don't want you to walk out the house and say I sent you out like that. It'S too much it's too much responsibility, I'm doing my part, but don't put it on me. If you can't do yours you're, going to twist this around your little baby, bun that you just made oh [, __ ], I'm messing it up. I'M in here talking [ __, ], okay, yeah. Let me get my techniques right: okay, yeah! I'M definitely messing this up a lot. Let me make this more like okay, some ponytails some days, you might not got ta like that. Some days you might but all days we need to just take our time and just still try our best on your little ponytail. Okay, just push through y'all just push just keep trying do what you need to do. I think my ponytail is too damn big. My little baby one, sometimes if the baby ponytail is just too poofy. This can be very difficult. Yeah, the same day twin, got ta saying it this ain't it. Let me try to go back and redo a couple stuff. I really messed up making this little ponytail a little bit too poofy. Let'S go back to drawing board I'm going to have to somehow. If I be pin this a little bit more flat, don't be alarmed guys. This has happened to me before learn from the best. Okay, there's too much air on this ponytail. I don't want to take this damn ponytail off now, what the hell we gon na do now. This much needs to be taken off like this much. What if we try to use this to twist this on? Oh, my God, this thing keep playing with me. You keep playing it keep playing like I'm done. We'Re gon na get this because now they don't piss me off. We ain't stopping till. I get this now because now I'm pleased they shouldn't have did that yeah. They shouldn't have did that to me this dumb ass, [, __, ], okay, I got it way way way way way. Three months, I got it, I got it. Everybody calm down, we still not doing them boom boom. Once you do that, we're going to get an edge brush and we're going to just smooth everything up lick everything back. You know just lay everything just secure everything, a lot more, do what you need to do. I need a light like right here boom. Take it all the way up, okay, oops dang, this one came all the way out. This is perfection literally, I don't know what all the mishaps I don't know why they're happening, but if I have to be honest with you, my horoscope did say expect. Like the mishaps today, let me show you my horoscope did say that I'm like yeah, like I knew they wasn't lying but like it, hadn't happened yet because I took it to the beginning of the day. Here we go one thing about co-star they're, not gon na lie to me. That'S what I do know. What does that say, mishap be prepared for unexpected mishaps. Your routine was due for a Shaker anyway yeah. So I'm not surprised. This is happening right now, see that's. Why you have to check your horoscope at the beginning of the day, you're, not in shock to stress when, like something happens or like surprised, when something happens, this really got me out of breath. I got y'all to be honest. Okay, we're almost done. I have to finish up the side Hank just one little piece. It'S gritty didn't want to. Let me loose, oh my God. This will not stay up. I want this to be a little taller, but it keeps playing with me today probably needs to be tightened. Every ponytail is different. That'S why I like to kind of just take my time and figure out which one I'm doing with this time once you figure that out, I think you could really know your game plan. This is that serious perfection - okay, so I'm gon na go ahead and go and I'll see you uh for another one. Let me go this next. Hairstyle has also been asked a lot. I don't get why. I think it's because, when I put my hair in a high ponytail, like my hair, is so big that people just don't understand that, like the geometry of like the possibility of my hair being able to somehow get so flat. But I'm gon na show you guys how I do it did. I ever say the next hairstyle. The next hairstyle is a slick back we're going to start off with uh undoing a twist out. Okay, I'm going to undo the twist out we're gon na go ahead and separate it usually like I'll. Like move my hair I'll kind of pick it out a little bit on my normal day basis. I do do that stuff, but I'm not going to teach y'all, because, oh my God, my shirt, I'm not gon na teach you all that stuff, though, because it's just politically not correct, okay and I'm not trying to spread false information, so we're gon na. Do it like this, I just like to do a little one. This one right here could do like another one. If you wouldn't want everybody's hair is different. Now we're going to need Edge brush, we need some sort of racial comb. I'M gon na do it in the middle. I just personally feel like middle parts, look good on me. So that's what we're going to do today, line it up. Put it in half! Do what you need to do, I'm just doing middle part. If you want to do that side, do the side. I'Ve never tried to do a side part because foreign half of my hair in the back grip it put it in a pony in the back. I know some people like go ahead and you know put product on that back part, but I just don't because my hair is just sliding and I feel like it doesn't need it. So I'm not gon na do that. Make you tired, I'm gon na hit. One of these okay, once you get one of these, what you're gon na do go ahead with this, I like to take this chunk: go ahead place it in half, hang on. Let'S all acknowledge the fact that I am light. Speed explaining this we're going to take half of this split in half boom hit one of these visually I mean. Obviously my ponytail is gon na, be like this. I will say sometimes I, like my ponytail, to be a little bit higher. Lately I've been having it pretty low. I don't like my ponytail too low because, like the back of my neck, Beast grip - and I don't like that so just visually - let your brain know! This is going to be right here once I visually let my brain know that we're going to get some green, get your green open it up. Brush put some green in there. Don'T do too much I like to just start off with a decent amount and if I want to add more add more later, don't do too much and put too much because I mean good luck. You could potentially mess up your ponytail doing too much. You never want to do too much. Never so, okay, we're going to undo the back ponytail I'm gon na. Let it go, I will admit: okay, just because I'm a little bit Reckless! I am a little bit. I have just gone ahead and just freestyled just straight. Just it I have, but I'm not gon na teach you guys that, because that's just Reckless but I will say like I have there's very many ways to get it precise, but I'm going to show you guys the easy beginner way now you know I'm just mean I just really like to test the water still. I do know how to just go ahead and just boom without the separation, but we're not gon na do it. So you see how I got this gripped it in added it into the ponytail. You can go ahead and re-brush it down if you want, but I'm not going to Celeste, like my sister, she put green and actually I don't know if so, let's put that edge control too on these little pieces, but I only put edge control at the top Of my head, but if your hair needs edge control and the green go ahead, and do that that's cool, but my hair, doesn't I mean it could so once you do, that, put it all in a ponytail, this hairstyle really is not that hard guys. I feel like the black community, especially if you have four Sierra. It'S just always promoted that, like certain hairstyles, don't work out hair because of your hair type, and it's just really all BS so do not even be alarmed I'm telling the first time I ever did this hairstyle. It was not even as hard as everybody was making the scene do not even like you know so you're just going to want to do the same thing on the other side, linen half boom boom, and you know I visually know I kind of get my placement When you get your face, man get some gel. Whatever amount works on your hair. Do that amount I like to spread it out a bit brush it into the ponytail in the same direction that you want it, and I also like kind of get in the middle. Like you see, I'm like kind of brushing this too, there have been times where I didn't brush this part and I had a little okay make sure you get every part laid okay grip, it undo the ponytail grip it off ponytail in the back boom. Now this is the real Moment of Truth. This is the top of your hair everybody's gon na see this your wife's gon na see what's going on, get it right, get it right take your time. This is a sport. This is a sport right now, foreign. Okay, now we're gon na go ahead with this now I kind of want mine to be like you saw that boom. That'S kind of how I want mine to be now these top pieces, we're going to use the green and we're going to use edge control. This is a type of extra Twilight, too Edge. Booster pink current get some gel get. However much you think that you're gon na need - and if you don't end up having enough it's cool, it's nothing in the world. Just put some more on now brush. I, like a little swoop boom boom boom. Hold it down, keep it secure. Okay, boom Perfection, it's literally, this is probably one of the best ones. I'Ve ever done, thank God, because we don't feel okay, we're on Candy Camera right now, that's a little decent amount. We'Re gon na do the same exact thing, but with edge control I like to be a little a bit heavy on the edge control at certain times. Sometimes my ponytail don't need a heavy edge control. Every ponytails are different. So honestly, let's just see what this one will be. Spread it out same exact thing: perfect, it's perfect undo the back Willow jammed up. Okay, okay, so we'll be jammed. Don'T do don't don't do it like how I'm doing I'm doing it kind of Reckless okay, but that's because, like I actually got mine a little bit jammed up be a little bit more neat with you. Okay, you're a little bit stuck ain't no way. I just got: we need silence, complete silence, nobody even breathe. Okay, okay, see, I was being Reckless. That'S why I got in this move. Okay act like I didn't rip this all in the back, I'm just gon na re-brush this a little bit just because my placement got a little messed up, get it in the back. Put your ponytail wherever you want it in the back. I want this to be a little bit low. Okay, ponytail in the back, everyone see do the same exact thing on this side boom. Why does my part not look in the middle? I don't know why this happens to me, but it's ridiculous. It'S in the middle! I think my eyesight might be going out, so I'm not gon na get some green lay this down a bit boom boom boom boom boom boom, spread it out. Everybody Seena got groceries down this part too. Don'T forget about this section of your head. I will say I've done that a couple times and the same exact thing with edge control. I'Ve got about this much edge. Control in here this brush is really dirty. I can never be no bleeding group, because why this ain't working this not about this much edge control, not too much, that's just the amount that works on my hair. If you need more, then just put more, I'm just telling y'all how I do my brush. It back undo the ponytail in the back we're a little Tangled back here. Okay put it in a ponytail in the back, make sure it's tight, but don't put it so freaking tight that your your mouth, okay, don't put it so tight that it hurts. That'S absolutely obscure I like to just halfway boom sort of spread. It out make it a little messy place it around hold up, because I don't really it's like in the back like right here, this little section right underneath the ponytail I like to pull at the hair right here and sort of pull it out of the ponytail, Because sometimes it'll be a little bit too tight, you have to pull out the hair back here and loosen it up, so your neck literally doesn't break and you're not like in pain. When you try to look down at your home, look every direction, move your head! Every direction it's a little bit tightness right here when I move my head this way, so I'm gon na like undo a little bit and it's a little bit like tight right here, so I'm gon na undo it. But you need to move your head in every direction, we're good. This is the last step. This is the most important step, oh, and I also want to say before. Actually the last step always have bobby pins, just in case, you need last step most important step. We'Re gon na get some edge control, get an edge brush, put some edge control on this brow. We'Re going to put. Let me get closer put some right here, we're going to just brush it down boom, and I like to do that like for the whole top part of my head. Sometimes I like to put on a heavy amount of edge control. This time, I'm not going to just because I feel, like my hair, don't really need it, but I like to just go ahead and put it at the top. Just put it everywhere. We need more put it back here. Just to lay this down exactly do the same thing. On the other side, this is the most important part. As we can see, we need complete silence for this step. Foreign. Let me look yeah see these two sides. They both look good, but they don't look identical to me. So I'm going to go ahead and try to swoosh this a little bit this one's a little bit too stale. It'S just a little bit too plain for me. So we're just gon na sort of like push this down, get some personality yeah. I was just a little bit too plain Jane for me: okay, okay, that's interesting! Sometimes you! You really got to take your time with this part, because you will look [, __, ] up you don't do it right. Just have to be completely honest, don't walk out of the house and go flick back, look bad and somebody asks you how you learn. How you say me don't do that. I will deny you okay, see I'm overthinking it. That literally looks fine. Don'T ever think too much, you will literally sabotage yourself overthinking it too much. So this side is just always it's always a challenge for me. It always wants to get on my nerves. Basically, it just stresses me out sometimes push it down. Yeah me, and this front part are literally about to box if it doesn't get right. We'Re literally gon na have problems even on this act together, and this is the side. This is how it was what it's looking like. This is what we're working with now after you do that we're going to get a scarf we're going to tie our hair back. We'Re gon na make my scarf about this size go ahead and tie it. We'Re going to leave this here for 15 minutes. I'M gon na set a timer and we will be back untie this perfect.
