Foreign we've had a very slow, easy kind of get into the groove of the New Year. I hope you have as well. I'M excited I'm inspired. I feel like happy to share that energy with you. I'M really excited for the things we have coming this year and yeah. I feel like it's going to be the biggest year yet for L Banks. So thank you for continuing to trust me with your hair and let's get into learning a new technique. Oh, if this is your first time here, my name is Sylvia, not L. If you've been here for a while, you know that on this channel I as a professional, give you DIY hair techniques so that you can perfect your color, your cut your style, but I've. Never shown you how I actually apply my own extensions. The reason for that is, I've always left it. Someone else I feel like I can color the back of my head, like I would any other client I do feel like extensions, does, require a little bit more visual in the back, rather than just doing it by feeling and a couple months ago. I did it for the very first time on myself. Normally I have one of my amazing colleagues do it for me, but I have this incredible hair. I really wanted to try out now. I knew that it would be difficult to do in the studio here. I know there's better lighting and they know that you could probably see it better, but there is no way that I could just do it without having like mirrors around. So I was like you know what I'm just going to film it. The way I applied it. The first time and to show you that it's a much more realistic way. This is probably how you're going to be doing it at home. If you do decide to do this, obviously there are various methods of extension application. I went the tape in route. I think tapins is one of like the most comfortable now in terms of like movement of the hair. I do think a weft gives more of that natural kind of look without any Gap. Ups of where there's no extensions and we're going to get into that. With extension, application, especially with the tapin method, there are a few things that you need to look out for, so that you get a beautiful full result, but that still, of course, looks really natural. So when you think of the back of the head from the neck towards say middle of the ears, the width gets bigger, so you have to think of the the row at the bottom is going to be your most narrow. So there I went in with two tape ends and then the following row. I went with three and the following row: you can go up to four everyone's head shape and size is a little bit different. So obviously, you can kind of go accordingly, but the most important thing to remember when doing tapings is you always bricklay? What that means is think of, like the pattern of how you would lay bricks, you never just Place one on top of the other. You always offset it in extensions. It makes sure that there's no gout starts kind of slightly in the middle of that tape. Pen, it's just going to give a much better flow and movement to the hair. Another really important thing to think about is the layers, so the more extensions you want to fit on your hair, the closer you will have to do those rows. Obviously the less weight you put on your hair, the better, so I always say, put as little extensions as possible to where you still have a good look and a good result. So, for me, three to four rows is absolutely plenty and then a few tapings on the sides. The other thing you want to think about is as you're getting closer to the top of the head. I feel like most extensionists to get a really like beautiful hair ends. Result they'll come up really high, because that gives you more space to include more hair. I personally love it when my hair back here is really loose and I can volumize it. I just feel like it has better movement again completely personal preference, but even when I do extensions on clients, I typically like to leave this area here from here up with no extensions in it. Another important key point when getting extensions is, of course the color. The color of the extensions of course needs to match the color of the hair, never the other way around the fact that we have extensions available to us to add fullness and volume to the hair. You can also add them with like a different texture to the hair to kind of play up. The texture you you already have another key benefit is adding color, so say: you've been bleaching, your hair, your hair, is fatigued. You can't seem to get lighter than you know where you're currently at, but you want some brightness extensions are great at that and now, when you're picking extension colors, I always see people like if they have a Swatch or something they always compare it to a you Know kind of up here what you want to do is compare the ends of your natural hair to the extensions and that's how it's going to blend beautifully, because this way you're able to normally get away with a much lighter end color. Then you currently have up here. So if you're looking at a Swatch, always compare it to the Natural ends of your hair, then we move to the sides of the head, and this to me is the exciting part. This is where you can. You know put your signature touch. Thank you, foreign. So again, I don't like a ton of hair in the front I feel like it makes it really easy for me to pull my hair back this way and I personally like a little bit of pieciness around the face so around the face. I definitely prefer having more of my natural layers kind of a shine through, so I personally only like to do one just slightly above and behind the ear so that it connects to that last row that I did and then possibly one appear just so that there's Not a complete disconnect from the length I added with the extensions and then my existing layering, and then I went ahead and styled my hair. I would love to see how the hair looks after it's curled, how I'm going to be living in it, and this just helps me see whether I need to add another piece here or there. Foreign foreign was helpful and, if not, I hope you at least learned something about tape and extensions if it's something that you've been thinking about. Obviously, the point of my videos has always been to teach you a technique with your hair that maybe you didn't before know how to do, but also to really inspire you. I think that was always just. My ultimate goal is to inspire you to learn more about hair and with that maybe was watching this video you're going to be like. Oh, that's how it works. I want my hairdresser to do that to me, but anyway happy New Year. Thank you for being here. Thank you for continuing to trust me with your hair. I hope you had an amazing start to the year and I'm wishing you a year of love and abundance ahead. Thank you. So much for being here, I love you and I'll. See you in the next one. Bye guys, foreign

Lorelei Carlson: Stunning. I think I could put in my own tape ins successfully.. removal not so much. Your makeup is gorgeous! I love so much that you don’t go over board with anything.. you allow your actual beauty to shine and just enhance ❤️

Lisa Hall: Your hair is so lovely, I could never do this myself but interesting to watch and good info, ❤️

Hicel Quinonez: Happy New Year . I'm so glad that you did this video. I have always followed you and started doing my own hair following your recommendation. I have always wanted to do my own extension but I am on the fence because of the after care. I blowdry my own hair an take care of it and I'm scared of breakage if I do the extension. But after looking at your video I might try it. Thanks so much keep giving is your content. Love you.

Jacki: Love This,, I agree less is more, it's too heavy with 2 many rows. I started doing them myself and I Love to create the different shades of tones in my hair thanks for Sharing!!!!

Alejandra Hopwood: Great video like always!! Is there a tape you can recommend? The one's i have tried just slide off after a wash

Lisa Rast: I tried tape ins a few months back for the first time and really liked them. I would love to try them again but I had the hardest time removing them. The hair would remove fairly easily however the tape was left behind. I tried several different products but still the tape remained. Do you have any suggestions? Was my hair maybe too clean when I put them in? All I did was wash my hair and blow dried not using conditioner or products before I applied. I then set it with a hot iron. Did I maybe hot iron it too hot?

Robin Dusch: Love, love this!!

Simple Nail Designs: Looks beautiful.

xTriinuux: I used to have tape ins but they went so damaged after 1-1.5 months that I had to buy new everytime. And I protected them, treated them well, curled with natural methods, even bought special silk hair band. I guess I couldn't find really good quality hair... So I quit and have clip ins now, they live longer as I don't sleep in them, don't wash or curl them as much as the others and the price is the same ‍♀️

Maxine 96: I put in tape ins myself years ago. The install wasn't that difficult. But removing the tapes and especially the left over glue was very difficult. I don't think I would do it again.

Victoria Raney: Elle I have a quick question, my stylist accidentally put a 5NN goldwell color on top of some of my blonde that I wanted to keep in the front of my hair. I’m really missing my blonde but it’s been bleached and toned and then dark on top ( didn’t understand that at all) I’m wondering if I did a vitamin c and head and shoulders shampoo method if it would take out my dark and go back to blonde? Idk what to do

Teresa Sawyers: hi u did inspire me i'm having surgery on the 13th to remove a mass on my bladder so they can find out what it is. i'm 61 and living with my mom who is completely bedfast and i'm her main caregiver. she promised me she'd buy me a wig if i need it but i know nothing about them except that i want a short pixie is there any chance u would make a video about wigs?

Angela Jane Lomax: What colour is your hair . I want my hair this kind of colour. I let my grey grow totally out. But brunette to that it's to harsh. Thankyou Angela ❤ ❤ ❤ hope you are all well. Love from Uk xxx ❤❤❤‍ Happy New year

Navjot Kaur: I have long long hair. I’m wanting to get them cut .. should I save my cut hair , is there a way to make extensions out of my own hair

Jana F.: Which extensions you are using?

Laura Bianca Dragomir: ❤️❤️❤️

Marissa Grilli: I’m not so sure non-trained people should attempt it. If your lines are straight, sections sandwiched aren’t precise with the correct amount of hair, and the type of extension is too heavy for the type of hair it’s being attached too, they could run the risk of A LOT of damage. Don’t you think, Sylvia?

cosmo_Girl: How to take care of them wash, blowdry

Brenda Natividad: What kind of hair extensions are they ?
