Hi love bugs it's jen and welcome to today's video, so we're gon na do a hair video but something a little bit different a couple of years ago, a lot of you guys know i had red hair and i decided i'm going to grow it out. So i chopped it all off, i bleached it out and then throughout the process of the last two years as it grew out, i cut it really short to get my natural color, but i absolutely love long hair. I didn't want short hair. I just did it to be able to grow up my natural color, so now my natural color is here - and i want to put in extensions, but extensions typically don't come in my color and then the other thing i found out is in the sides and back I actually still have quite a bit of that kind of dishwater blonde. It'S almost like a gold is green kind of dishwatery, really ashy dark blonde, which is the color that i was in. Like my mid-20s before i started going gray in the front, so the back has quite a bit of that pigment. Now i'm gon na do beaded wefts in my hair, but i wanted to reverse fill it, and what do i mean so because everything i looked at nothing comes in my color, so what i decided to do was get the lightest blonde. What happens with hair this light is that you put color on it down my permanent or permanent, with 10 volume, and it just washes out so hairdressers out there. You know we fill the hair, meaning we put pigment back into the hair to give it some depth. So that when we color it, it holds a little bit better and then, as it fades out, there's some undertone in the hair. So it doesn't just fade back out to this color again it fades out to whatever the undertone is that you put in the hair. So without further hesitation, i'm going to give you the formulas everything i use, you don't have to use any of this hair color, i'm just showing you what i used and i will link all the formulas down in the description box below that way. If you want to do something similar, if you've grown your hair out to silver and you're like i really want extensions, but i can't find it at least there's a formula that you can reverse fill and then you can color over it, and you know that it's Gon na wash out and be just a nice silvery um or like a taupey, you know very cool toned, dark blonde to light brown so without further hesitation, let's get into it. So this is the color i'm trying to match right here. So, throughout my hair the front is very white silver, but these sides in the back have this mousy dark blonde, and this is the color i want to match because that's the color i want my ends to be right. I have gone ahead and laid out a sanitary maintenance area and i just used some cling wrap and totally covered my counter so that i don't get anything on it. I already pre-cut the hair because i know i'm not going to need the full bundle. I ordered one bundle from donna bella hair and it is the lightest color i could find. I knew i was going to have to color it. So i've got my nine volume, camera color developer and i'm going to do more of a root. Smudge i'll show you exactly the formula so on the roots. I'M gon na do 23 grams of 8sm. I actually wanted to do 20 grams, but it went to 23.. So, let's just say: 20 grams of 8sm, 10 to 13 grams of the 8 nua and then 15 grams of the 7a. I'M gon na mix this one to one with the nine volume the nice thing about the kenra color demi permanent is you can do two to one if you want to make it a little more sheared out, but i want this to really hold and i don't Mind if the root is a little darker than when i actually need it to be, because it will fade out. So i'm gon na do a one-to-one ratio for the mids and ends i'm going to mix up 10 sm, 20 grams, 10 grams of diamond frost and 15 grams of the 10a. So first thing i did is i washed these extensions with a clarifying shampoo and then i sprayed the kenra color porosity equalizing spray on them, so that the color really took evenly. It'S really important when coloring extensions that you wash the hair first, because it typically has like a coating over it that i want removed prior to trying to put pigment back into this type of hair. Next, i'm going to go ahead and lay out the big pop-up oils from framar, so that i can keep everything nice and clean and organized i'm gon na go ahead and do the root, smudge and color the ends of the wefts now, typically filling the hair use. Reds and golds and try to get back the warmth that is now gone from the hair because it's been bleached, but i don't want to do that because then it's going to wash out and it's going to look red and warm meaning. I fill it. But i fill it with the pigment, that's more silver gray, so that when i color it, which i end up coloring using the 10 volume, it ends up being this beautiful, just dishwa. Well, i say beautiful beautiful to me because i really like my hair color, but it ends up being this dish. Watery dark blonde that matches the back of my hair, but as it's washed out, it's not going warm, it's not going red. So so it's really important to note right here that not only am i taking the extensions and placing them flat on the foils and really working first, the darker color up at the you know where the band of the extension is and kind of smudging it down. I'M also, then picking the extensions up and really working through with my hands and with the other end of the from our brush, which has this like little comb. And i want to like really smush through and comb through, to make sure that there's, no splotchiness or blotchiness of the extensions extensions are notorious for getting kind of blotchy. And so it's really important to work that color really saturate through and make sure that it is fully covered. So it doesn't get weird blotchy things. So then, when i mush that through - and i really saturate that coming through, then i put it back down and i take the lighter color and do the same thing so making sure that it's like a color meld where it goes from darker to lighter, with both The silver tones on these extensions, but i do want to make sure that there's no blotchiness and uneven color, so i just wanted to point that out how important that is to work it through and really make sure that every single hair is saturated. So so i let these process 20 full minutes. I did open them up kind of mid process when i was finally done with the last ones i opened up the first ones and then went through them and just smudged them made sure there was no um and like spotty pieces, you can really see as the Color processes, if there's areas of the extension that haven't taken yet so i can go through smudge them, make sure everything is nice and even and then wash them and condition them all right. I washed these. I conditioned them and dried them and you can see they're just such a beautiful silver color. So what i wanted to do was actually install these and these are sew in beaded wefts. I'Ve been doing extensions for years and years, but i've done individual beads. I'Ve done tape, ins, but beaded wefts are newer to me, so i wanted to do them to myself. I'Ve been practicing for a while on like a doll head, but i wanted to do my own before i started doing these on customers and even though i've been doing extensions for you know, 20 something years. These are a little bit different of a technique for me. So i wanted to put them in before i did the final color, the reason being is. I knew that this color right here would match like the front really really well, especially the ones that kind of have the lighter silver on the bottom, and so i installed them once i installed them. I used permanent hair color. Now i use the agora color 10, which is from schwarzkopf, but i only used 10 volume. I did not use anything stronger than 10 volume and i never use anything stronger on 10 volume on extensions because that hair is already processed. Typically, they recommend semi-permanent or demi-permanent color on extensions, but i noticed for color to really hold permanent color with 10 volume works so well. The color holds so so good and color that really lasts. You know if someone's gon na wear these for a good year. I want them to last without fading, maybe have to do a color gloss on them a couple times a year, but for the most part not fade out. You know so that someone can really have use of this hair, so 10 volume. For me, my experience of doing hair for 25 years is the way to go so filling it first with the demi and then doing the permanent with 10 volume over. It is so good. Just remember you don't want to use 20, 30 or 40 volume or any kind of bleach or any type of keratin treatment on these, because again this hair is processed. This hair has been bleached and toned, and you know all kinds of treatments on it to make it sanitary for customers, so you don't want to do anything higher than 10 volume. So i installed these and i did very careful placement in like real large foils, mostly in the back, but in the front i really just left it. What um this silver color is maybe in a different video i'll show application, but um they're not perfect. I did this on myself but they're in and they feel really good and the color looks so natural, so good, and it's been about two weeks since i put these in when i'm editing this video and the color has not faded. Oh, my gosh, the color literally looks so good. I get so many compliments. People cannot believe these are extensions, but i think the key is is that, as this is washing out, it's not washing out red or orange. It'S washing out. Just like a nice, like, i said, dishwater taupey dark blonde, which is exactly what my natural color is in the back. It'S funny. When i grim my hair out, i thought it was going to be 100 gray and i am in the front like the hairline and around the face, but in the back still holds a ton of this dishwater blonde in my hair. So i think this just matched absolutely perfectly. I couldn't be happier so i hope you enjoyed this video, whether you're a hairdresser or not. I think that this is educational for anyone out there, and i have a lot of diy-ers out there. So we have diyers who love to do our skincare stuff, but i have a sense that you love to do diy hair stuff as well. So i did end up putting all the extensions in. I absolutely love my long hair. You will be seeing more hair tutorials with this hair in i do beaded wefts in my salon.
