This is my sister and her hair is a little flat, especially at the root. Recently we have been hearing a lot about korean root, perms all over tik tok. So we decided to give it a try. They are checking out a salon called haruha in new york city. First, let's start by washing her hair. My sister also wanted a trim, so they did that as well before starting the perm okay, i thought this was so cute. They gave her an armrest now on to the perming, her lovely hairstylist, nicole, section her hair before applying tiny rods or rollers near her roots. She secured the rods with clips and elastics. This is done all over her roots, unlike other perms root. Perms only perm about two to three inches of hair from the roots solution is then applied all over the rods. It is not recommended to do a root perm at home, since the chemicals from the pyramid solutions are so close to your roots. After the solution is applied, they put her hair under this futuristic, looking machine, which is supposed to heat up and process firms. It was working its magic for about 20 minutes, then spray her hair with water and stole her bangs. That smoke is a little scary, not gon na lie. Finally, they removed the rods they place. Her hair under the butterfly processor again to dry for about 20 minutes. Then her hair is filled with some gel and it's done. This is nicole, explaining so thoroughly how to maintain the style and take care of her hair. Overall, the process took about two hours. The results are subtle, but that's the benefit of this root perm. It looks very natural, her hair definitely had more volume than before, and it will continue to stay like this for a couple months without needing to be stalled for volume every day.
Comments
rainbow fish: some people may think it's a waste of money since it's a subtle difference but that's what i personally like about korean/japanese hair salons, they make these subtle changes (cut and perm) that are more catered to framing the face or add movement to the hair since for most asian hair (dark and straight) it's really hard to make your hair appear lively without coloring your hair
Cheri: Being a black girl and gottem many relaxers (some ppl call them perms also, just depends on where your from). I was freaking out over her hair getting washed first cause relaxers you want non clean hair...or you burn your scalp. But i was like "wait wait...its in anothwr country, they know what they are doing " an dam that looks lovly.
Nessa Ahmad: A hair powder will give you much more volume and it super easy to apply, you just sprinkle it on top of your hair after styling (plus it absorbs oils too and doesn't have that crunchiness of hairspray).
Vanessa Van Sickle: The haircut made her hair look more voluminous.
igot7-lu: How much was this? I don't see much difference except that it's been blow dried at a salon and patted differently so the roots dont show ss much
mcheddadi: - "the results are subtle but this is the benefit of this root perm, it looks very natural" I hope the price tag is also very subtle and thats the benefit of this "SUBTLE" perm...
bre_stl: what exactly would this look like as the hair grows out though a random dent in the hair?
Jisoo in your area: why did they style the bangs if they were gonna wet the hair to rinse out the perm after anyways.
PaulieF: What makes a root perm Korean? It looks exactly like the root perms I used to get nearly 20 years ago. They have been around for ages. Seems it got to Korea 20 plus years behind the UK. Her hair would have been loads better at the beginning if it had been washed. It was mostly the greasiness that was making it look flat
lyoness: 2 hours and who knows how much $ for a perm with less volume than you'd get from a regular blow out. Seems like a waste of money.
BriannaB: The haircut is cute on her but the root perm is a no. It's TOO subtle. A shampoo and blow dry would be more voluminous.
Melissa Cowan: What's the tool she used to roll the rods called? I've been looking for something like that for foreverrrr
Tia: I love this!
R Pitt: We did these in the mid 1980's.
humming74: But what will it look like when it grows out
海月: I think after a few months u'll start to have these weird bumps mid hair cus u permed it when it grow out likw --^-----
trblessed1020: Very cute!!
Sara Tecle: Excited to watch this!
Wynter Breeze: Her hair looked damaged B4 the perm. Issa no for me only because the integrity of her hair was compromised before a chemical was applied AND no deep conditioner was applied to the hair before or after the "Perm".
Sophie W: 2.29 it still looks as thin & flat as a pancake ever after the perm?
Frost Queen: Looks good
Phoenix Beauté: What is that tool called?
Trevor Simon: I see a ton of racism in these comments.
Gajen Bungaroo: I see no difference...
Mike Mills: What is this song?
worm • 10 years ago: OMG FIRST
Merin Mathew: Hii
BeeBee Motsumi: It is very voluminous
