Symptoms

In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.

Male-pattern baldness

Women tend to lose hair along the part.

Female-pattern baldness

Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.

Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)

Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.

Traction alopecia

t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.

Frontal fibrosing alopecia

Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.

Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:

Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).

Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.

Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.

Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.

Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.

When to see a doctor

See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.

Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.

People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

What'S going on everybody today, i'm going to teach you how to get this hairstyle right here, not the haircut of course, but what my shampoo conditioning and then styling routine is because i've discovered something that i feel has really really helped me in styling, my hair in New ways - and it's something i can't believe after, like having hair my whole life and even after going through this hair system thing, i still hadn't discovered it until just right now. So with that being said, we're gon na start. I'M gon na hop into the shower. Walk you through the process, styling process, all that fun stuff and then we'll talk about it at the end and we're in the shower now and i'm shirtless, oh no, i'm shirtless! Back! In the early days of the channel people, i made a couple videos or a shirtless like most of the time in the shower, trying to show you some things and uh people were were trolling me for it. So i had to throw back to that. So there's a couple products we're going to use in the shower, so one is a shampoo, so you can use this one. Potentially this is a maxim moisturizing shampoo. You don't have to use it, that's actually from hair club. They gave it to me to try, but actually i really like it uh this matrix biology is something i've been using for a long time. This works really really well as well. There'S also, if you have a hard water filter um, there is a product that i don't have in this shower right now, but that's absolutely great. I really recommend you use that as far as conditioners, i'm going to use this maxim, moisturizing conditioner, it's really good and then the third is this maxim: hair, reconstructor it deposits proteins. Now you don't have to use these, but i really do recommend that you get high quality shampoos conditioners or protein treatments. It'S just like it's vital that you get a good quality product that sets up everything else and will make your hair feel like new. It really will so i'm gon na start applying these i'm gon na turn on the shower and i'll see you in a second now. The first thing that i do is, i actually wet my hair and i start to use a tangle tuber like so as this gets a ton of the nods out. This is something i absolutely love. You'Ve got to get a tangle teaser or something like that. So once your hair is nice and straightened out, you've got all the knots out after you can apply the shampoo all right. We just used the shampoo now for the conditioner that i'm going to use um. I want to talk about something before i actually put it in now with long hair, especially it's really easy to miss parts of your hair with conditioner, because it kind of binds and it's it's not as like. It doesn't spread it, and so it is as easy as the shampoo. It'S really important to get the ends. So what i actually do is i kind of push up my hair like this right here, so that way, it's easier to get it into the ends of the hair itself, as opposed to just being down on my face and having to work every strand like that. Um you are going to want to sit in your hair for like two or three minutes at least so. Spend the time make sure that it's sitting in your hair, it's depositing all the goodness all right uh. We just got done with the conditioner, so this uh, this hair reconstructor, is something you really want to use, maybe like once a week a lot of protein treatments. You don't want to use this every single time and it just takes more time, but this can really repair your hair. It has silk amino acids, things that just make the hair healthier shine better after you're done with the conditioner. You should already feel that your hair is like smoother silkier, so this is just one extra step: leave it in your hair for a couple minutes and then, after we're going to jump out of the shower and we're going to talk about product and setting up for The final look all right, so we are out of the shower now the hair feels it already feels amazing, and yours should too, if you follow those steps that we just went through uh now we're going to basically blot dry, the hair um, as it is right Now, before we even touch it, so blot drying is, when you take a towel like this right here and just press in you're, not shaking you're, not doing anything aggressive with the hair. This is one of the differences with the hair system. Is you've got to be careful? You know that you're not pulling out hairs. It'S something early. In my my hair system career, i used to do pretty aggressively and i'd say that it definitely affected the longevity of my hair systems. But at this point you know just kind of towel blot just hold it press, it hold it press it, and this right here should get a lot of the wetness out of your hair, okay cool! So now that we're here uh, what i recommend you do is you can take a couple different types of brushes here: uh just for the purpose of this right here, i'm actually going to use another type of tangle teezer right here, but you could use a regular Brush what i'm going to do is i'm actually going to start brushing the hair back. So i kind of work from the back like this right here. Brush it back brush it back push it back, push it back and then now we're kind of like this right here. This is when the magic begins. Okay, cool, so we're going to use two different products right here. First, is i'm going to actually use this bio lodge, uh heat, styling primer and we're also going to use some argan oil? This is from maxim. Uh hair club gave me a lot of free products. That'S why i'm using it, but you can get this. You can get argan oil somewhere else, it doesn't really matter. So what we're going to do is we're actually going to mix up the products, and this is something i didn't know anything about. I had never tried before until recently, and i actually really liked the way it affected. My hair, you i used to do products in phases so like argan oil, then the second product and the third product now uh. What i've been doing is combining them. So i'm taking a squeeze of this heat, styling primer put it in my palm. You can see it's kind of like a little bit bigger than a dime. What i'm using - and i take one two - maybe three squeezes of argan oil and i'm actually mixing it up right here and now. What i'm gon na do is i'm gon na start working it through the hair run my hands through my hair. Sometimes i hit it from a different angle, like shipment shift wax all this kind of stuff, and what i'm trying to get is some even coverage around the hair. If i feel like, i need a little bit more product because i didn't evenly distribute it, i might take a little bit more just just a little bit like uh, a third of the size. Only one dash bam, kick it up a notch, emerald style and i'll work it back through the areas where i feel like i missed it like so, and what i'm going to do right now is i'm actually just going to set this hair all back and the Reason i'm going to do this because it'll it'll change. The final result we're letting it dry like this to get a little bit of volume. So right now it's going to look like this. I'M not going to use the hair dryer! All it's just going to completely air dry and you'll, see what the final result is and what we have to do at the end. So we have just stepped out of the shower right: we've, let our hair dry! This is where we are, after, i don't know. Probably like 40 minutes, so the hair is dry but in my opinion, it's still not the right look, but the beautiful thing is now that we have our hair like this right here. There'S a ton of volume because it's pushed back so all you have to do is just kind of like this right here and then take a look. We have a really nice look that frames our face, so we have some kind of curtain bangs going on uh, and i i really like this look. I feel like it's something that complements my face. Well, it's stylish. We have a fade going on and uh overall, i think it's one of the most fashionable looks that i've ever done, and here you go here's the final result right. So we have a good amount of volume. The hair feels fresh like when it was first installed and that's due really to the conditioning and to the protein treatment. It has a level of bounce to it, not an unnatural level like when you first get a cut, but it has a level of bounce. It has a silky softness to it, which is very, very nice, and it just has like structure which is really nice, so that kind of comes from one. The the setting of the hair, which uh i've, used a lot of hair blowers in the past or hair dryers. I can, i never know what to call those things. I use a lot of hair dryers in the past to speed up my hair like drying, so that way i can get on with my day quicker. But when i let this just sit and air dry with my hair pushed back and then i kind of mess it up forward, it really gives really good structure. But i have done the same thing before without using the combination of the argan oil with that particular styling product from biologe, and i haven't gotten that same result. In fact, i feel so here's the thing. The combination of the two provides like the silkiness and smoothness to the hair, but it also helps it bind and create some some texture that i haven't really been able to achieve before. So the combination of all those things together has really really helped, and i feel it's gotten me pretty good results. This is something that i've actually found is repeatable. I'Ve done this probably 10 times over the past little bit. Every time i wash my hair, i get this result. I don't always film after i do this a lot of times, i'm filming after i come out of a workout all this kind of stuff, but hey you know, i'm showing you what your hair is going to. Look like on a day-to-day basis in real life, not just when it's at its best when it's optimized, when you just step out of the shower, i'm showing you my hair all the time, but this is what you can get by just following the protocol that i Described inside this video, that's that

jeff: Hey Jake, I found a hair specialist saying that it is a must to follow up protein treatments with lots of moisture. If you condition after the protein treatment rather than before and then hit it with a leave-in conditioner, you should get even better results. I just tried this, and my hair feels so fresh.

SweetBeatJinx: How often do you have to replace your hair system?

Mori: Hey Jake, I have a full head of hair with some recession. But I know I'll be bald in a few years time. Fin and min doesn't do anything to me. So I figure a hair system is the only thing out there for me. But right now I got some problem where when I wear hats for long periods of time. My scalp becomes dry, flaky and itchy. I guess this is due to lack of breathability of my scalp. What would be the case if I wore a hair system? Doesn't that reduce breathability quite heavily?

Josh gates: Great stuff Jake. I'm going into poly again after hybrid and surprisingly so far so good on day 3! I think it's because I worked my way around from lace, to poly all around with lace middle, to poly all around with cross section, to now finally full lace. And crazy thing is, today I went for the haircut of the full poly that's vlooped all around, and asked for longer sides but barber did his thing, and I have like the same exact haircut as you rn lmao. I like how it let's us cover any thinning sides and also is not flat up top. Yup mixing product is a thing, alchol free moose and hair serum are suppose to work really good together. Right now I did a styling potion and Mitch texturizer reformer mix. Works pretty good too. Imma have to look into those shampoos. Right now I use the shea moisture wig and weave shampoo, it's a special collection they came out with just for weaves, that I sometimes switch up with Deva curl No poo shampoo moisturezer( no foaming,so doesn't Tanger hair) and for conditioner I use the deep conditioner 3 minute from Aussie once a while, and just a Garnier one(because there's a thing like over conditioning, that can cause hair fall in system) and sometimes just the bio lace conditioner. Thank you!

jeff: This is your best tutorial yet! Love the look. It's similar to my style. I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks for sharing!

WHOTHAFUCK: hi jake, as im losing my side hair as well (or at least very thinned out sides from temples to even behind my ears) would this type of system and hairstyle (curtains) work? im still not ready to make the jump yet as i still have "too much hair" as a whole. i wear it longer right now and by letting my hair from the top region grow to a length that reaches about the middle of the ear and sideburn area, i can see how the hair from the top covers the thinning sides quite well. with a little styling i can give the long hair from the top more structure and it seems as if my sides are actually not really visible at this point, while still looking fine. its not much different from your current style in this video. As i wanna plan ahead how to handle my future situation in the upcoming years, i just wanna know what is possible for people with really thin sides (meaning almost everything from sideburn/temples, behind ears and even slightly in the back). When it comes to fashion and looking around, many different and sometimes rather "extreme" styles seem to be very accepted. i know actual guys from business with undercuts and so on. The thing is, i dont really want this kind of "extreme" look (it fits the best on really physically fit dudes), but more of a softer middle ground. I hope im not confusing you, i just wanna know your take on shaving the thinning sides down to a minimum and letting the hairsystem hair from the top come down more. Or is it even possible to go for something like a 3/4 cap, where you have even more system hair added to the sides and not just top, adding more natural structure? Anyways, all these ideas came to my mind by seeing this curtain style become more and more in now - and the way you have it in your video is already very similar to what i mean. So would it work for you if you shaved down your sides even more? Cheers

Heart Square Music: this is your most realistic unit/cut-in yet.

Jimbo: These sort of videos are fantastic. Would you not use the tangle teaser after conditioning?

Noor: Love your content Jake and I smiled at how great this looks on you. Truly amazing! To be completely honest though, do you not think the hairline in the center looks somewhat unnatural being so straight and quite dense as it is?

paul nerval: Jake, this is the best, I think, your hair has looked. Avoiding the hairdryer was a good move. The only thing you may want to consider adding is a little sea salt spray for added texture.

Esteban Rico: I've been avoiding the hair dryer for a while now, it makes my hair look all big and poofy.

Lost Without Her: Looks very good, right style and everything. If you decide at some point you're looking for another style inspo, I think Juan Martin del Potro (tennis star) has a look that could look good on you. He was on the cover of Tennis Magazine September/October 2018 issue.

Joe Yogurt: Hey man, you promised a man bun.

Fernando Ariza Abascal: Definetly, this style is an improvement! Good work! :-)

Maria Pauley: Son unos GIRLS18.Uno de los mejoresz conciertos Mañas no 8 se l

David: Would be interesting to see exactly how your bio-hair is cut now .... how the system is blended into the bio-hair. I really can't tell which is which!

shane morris: Are you getting close to the same results on the in between days of washing / conditioning?

Moment of Truth: Curtains are on their way back !! : ))

F L: Who do recommend in nyc for hair piece and styling

Isaac bsm: One of your top 2 best haircuts

Sensational Planet: This hair style suits you a lot brother

Sensational Planet: Great look
