Protein is stronger. The closer your hair is to your scalp, believe it or not: hey baddies, welcome to hairsprays by bevy it's your girl bevy with hair scripts. Whatever this is the channel where you come to find out the signs of hair growth, blah blah blah and then a whole bunch of other stuff. Okay, i teach you effective strategies on how to regrow your hair that actually works, and it doesn't include throwing the whole kitchen sink on your scalp, hoping that something is going to work okay anyway, so long story, short um. I did a video and i don't know which one i i'm gon na post. First, whichever but long story short you know, listen it's summertime is that season for black girls to be wearing their braids, okay and brown, girls and everybody everybody else in between etc. Okay, so this is braid season. Everybody want to be out here with a knotless braids. Looking cute, you know i mean, and i did i did, that i did the thing but like with everybody like with anyone and like everyone else when it's time to take them. Braids down, you know what i'm saying like you know, you get a little bit of shed a lot, a bit of shed um in fact, extra shedding and the fallacy is that that extra shedding is normal. Well, not so says you know, and so i'm not sure which video i i'm sure that the other one is going to go up first, which is how to nurse your scalp and your hair follicle back to health after you just live your best life listen. I am for everybody doing what makes them happy. I am not the scout follicle or hair police. Okay, you never gon na. Hear me be like. Oh, don't do this because i'm gon na say i don't recommend it but go at your own risk, but girl live your best, damn life, okay, do it and be happy doing it? No, i mean anyway, so my point was and is that i'm definitely going to be one of the people that if i want to straighten my hair honey, i'm going to straighten my hair. If i'm going to do braids, i'm going to do braids i'll do twists. I'M going to do them, but i know how to protect my scalp and follicle in between before in between, during and after now i mean so. This is after you take down your braids. What do you do to basically get your bounce back with your hair? Okay? So my last video was how to nurse your scalp and your follicle back to health, and this one is how to get that bounce back. Because, let's just be honest, when you take down your braids, your hair feels limp okay and the number one thing that is going to bring your hair back to life when it feels limp, and it's kind of like this is protein. Y'All already know how i feel about protein. I did a video about protein and i don't know if it's about. I can't even remember if it was about the foods. You eat bloody, blase blase, but this is about topical protein treatments. Okay, now disclaimer. If you already have a bad diet, if you already have hair loss right, if you're dealing with hair loss, if you have underlying conditions, autoimmune problems, um, alopecia, etc, this is not going to magically restore your hair right. This is just one strategy in our whole. To this one tool from our toolbox - and this is specific to you - are for the most part you have you're healthy. Your hair is pretty decent and everything all of that no underlying hair loss conditions, but you put braids or you thought protective styles, which is not like. I said before throw the whole concept away and now it's just time to basically restore your hair and the simplest thing that you're gon na do is up your protein. Okay, now, for me, like i always say, hair loss or hair growth is a multifactorial approach. It takes several different strategies to get the the results that you want, so i don't so. Yes, this is about protein treatments. Stick to the end, i'm going to tell you which protein treatments i recommend. Now i have a video on protein treatments, but i like to mix it up and update stuff because there's new things that come out in the market and there's new, like studies that come out and new things that i learned. So i start changing things up all right. So stick to the end, if you want the name of products anyway, so let's talk about protein, okay, oh and then, of course you want to eat more protein. You want to up your protein intake. I'M telling you there's nothing! That'S going to make your hair bounce! That'S going to restructure your hair, make your hair look better! That'S going to give it a snack back and all of the stuff that your hair needs like um. What'S that thingamajig protein, oh my gosh! So i got ta come close. Excuse me, so you guys see my little cute face. Okay, i'm not gon na speak negatively with myself. You'Re gon na see my cute face, because i look at my notes um when we're talking about this protein thing now, all right. Um, oh my gosh, okay, hey baddies is your girl baby with hair scripts, and i have some great news: if you are experiencing hair loss, meaning it's shedding, it's thinning. You have bald spots, it's breaking, you don't know what the problem is and you don't know how to treat it and how to fix it. Do me a favor and go to the hairscripts.com go to our website. The link is down below and use our scalp evaluation to where you can upload up to six photos of your scalp and your problem area and one of our hair scripts hair loss. Experts will get back to you not only with the full evaluation, but a treatment plan on how you can personally regrow your hair back based on your hair growth concerns. But that's not all you'll also get product recommendations that are going to be better for you and not for your neighbor, okay, so personalized hair care girl, that's where he's at and if that's not good and that's not reason enough for you to go it's free. Okay, don't sign tell you bye, okay, everybody! So in this video i'm going to talk about the benefits of protein, how to know if your hair basically needs protein, how often you should use it the best products, and basically just overall just to take away all this and for the record y'all like the one Thing i wish i knew how to do was edges like i just i don't know what to do about my edges, y'all and i have them. You know what i'm saying and i just i just need somebody to come here and bless me with edges. I wish i had like a little sister somebody around me. I could just come just spit on spit on a toothbrush, real, quick and just give me some edges, but anyway, so the benefits of protein okay, so, like i've mentioned before, let me not assume that you've guys seen any of my videos. This could be the first video welcome, hey, what's up, okay, welcome to the family! Betty subscribe like okay, this video all right, because i'm looking out for you, because i'm talking about things that is affecting me and if it's affecting me, then it's affecting you. Okay, bottom line is um. Your hair is made up of 95 protein. Okay, specifically, the amino acid that it's built up is called keratin for those of you who never heard me say that before that's what it is, it's built up a protein, so the best way to fortify protein is with more protein. In other words, the best way to iron to sharpen iron and and stuff like that is by you, utilizing iron right to strengthen your protein. You want to um add more protein, not only that, but protein is something just like collagen that it just it dissipates over time. It weakens over time. Protein is stronger. The closer your hair is to your scalp believe it or not, because it's getting all the the different amino acids from your follicles and your scalp because of the whole gut scalp connection, which i'm not talking about in this video. It'S all scientific but the further. Your hair leaves the scalp and the follicle the less protein that it's exposed to and the less protein that it has that's one right, but then two over time, your protein just weakens over time right with styling chemicals, blah blah blah manipulation. It'S just like you're just stretching out the elasticity constantly constantly constantly right. So keratin is an amino acid aka. You know it's an amino acid. It'S a protein that builds the structure like the whole structure, the shape of your hair. So what that means, if your hair is limp, if it's, if it's like, think about plants like when plants start to like slouch over, like you know, you, like the form ain't good, you ain't got good form. I mean like, if you ain't got all of that going on your hair is just looking lifeless or which is a problem that we all have right, not a problem right. It'S a good thing when you have shrinkage shrinkage is amazing right, it's a good thing. We hate it because it just like it really just be odin when it takes away from our length. It'S like yo. You really got ta shrink like that, though, but when you have that type of shrinkage, cis is good. That means that your protein is tight. Your amino acids are intact. You got that snapback, okay, but unfortunately, when it stretches and it don't it don't shrink anymore. It don't move when it don't move yeah. That'S the sign that you need protein and it's a sign that your bonds are broken. Okay, yeah. The bond is broken and we know that's not good. We want to rebuild our our bonds so um, so basically it repairs damaged hair. That'S one benefit. It helps with hair retention, because if your hair is lifeless and limp more than likely it's weak right, it can't carry anything. God forbid. You have protein list, not that that's a word, but i just coined it. Protein-Less, hair. Okay, your hair, weak ain't got no protein, and then you go slap on some knotless braids six before you do any. What'S that called protective styles, which ain't protective at all, but before you go slapping extensions and stuff on your hair, make sure, of course, that your scalp and follicles are intact, but make sure that your hair is strong enough to carry it like girl. Your hair is a bad lady and her i'm about to break like why. But why are you doing that to her? I'M sorry, i'm really annoyed because y'all happy week and y'all just be wanting to throw everything on top of it, because you want to cover up and you're just making it worse. But anyway, we're not going to talk about we're not going to talk about that. That whole the what was the broad commercial, i can't get a job because i can't get my degree and i can't get it done anyway. So going back to the point, because this is what i do um going back to the point. It helps with hair retention, because if your hair is weak, it can't it's gon na break eventually, so protein is going to strengthen the hair, strengthen the bond, make it strong again right, it's doing on lifts and whatever, obviously i lift weights right and it's going to Be stronger and then it's going to improve your hair appearance. Like i just said you know it, it's a structure right. So if your hearing got body okay, if you're, if your hearing got legs hips and body yada yada, then your hair is it's not that it's dead right! It'S just that it's weak! It could be that it's weak right and i don't know why some of us run to to add moisture when we see that and it's like. Oh and here's another thing, here's another thing: here's a quick little uh like fun fact right a lot of times. People think dry and brittle hair is a sign of moisture. Your lack of moisture, sometimes dry, most times dry and brittle hair is a lack of a nutrient deficiency and that nutrients that nutrient is protein. It'S protein that macronutrient is protein. So a lot of times you need to up your protein intake. That'S going to make your hair wet, wet! It'S going to turn your hair into a whop from within okay, that dry and brutal hair, and then it's funny because then you overload with moisture and then you're, making it weaker and weaker and weaker because it keeps expanding and expanding and expanding. And it doesn't have the strength so when you see dry and brittle hair, that don't mean run and add moisture to it. You need a good protein and moisture ratio. Okay and i'll talk about, if you have low porosity and all that stuff going on what your ratio should be at the end, so that i don't skip this video? Okay, yes, okay! Yes, it's blackmail all right! So let's continue. Okay, yeah! I mean wait. It'S so. I lost my place in my notes. I i'm sure i could tell i'm like wait what's coming up next, so you need to you know what yeah i'm gon na wait to the end to say that so um yeah. So you need a good protein. A moisture mix and most of the time um when you have dry brittle hair. It'S not that you lack moisture is that you like protein um once you improve that protein, and i don't talk about mostly from within, not just slap and protein on top, which obviously topically you're gon na add as well. Um you'll start to see the structure, repair itself and then you'll know the amount of moisture that you need that you need, because i'm telling you too much moisture is no good for your hair. Just so you know, but let's move on okay, so i want to talk about um and i think i talked about what i was supposed to talk about. I talked about the benefits and all that stuff like that um, you know you know, how do you use protein treatments? It'S a protein treatment, you know most likely it's a mask. You can make them i'll. Tell you i'll. Tell you one diy that i make it's now. We know all. We all know black rice water right, but i give you one better. We gon na go with quinoa over here, so i do quinoa because quinoa um and i'm going to tell you how much protein is in quinoa. I just want to give you the numbers, and this is this - is off the off the dome. So that's why i'm looking so there's 8 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber in quinoa, so the protein is important here, so how much protein is in um rice holds on so rice has about um right. So rice has about four grams. Okay, so quinoa has twice the amount of protein than white rice. Okay, now black is a little bit better. I, if you're going to do a a rice, water treatment - and i have it back in the day in my oh or old videos when i was trying to figure out who i was on these uh youtube streets, and i was trying to do diys like the Rurals, okay, but i was giving you diys that actually were like proven right. I was still in that vein, but now i figured out who i am and i'm not feeling about - i'm not about to do that. Okay, i'm not about to okay but um yeah, but i'm just gon na tell you, okay and maybe i'll whatever anyway, so so eight grams of protein. So i have a video on here that i still keep keep up. You can go watch it when it's a black rice, water, rinse, whatever black, rice, water, okay, if you're gon na do rice, water do black, but i particularly care for quinoa. It'S just it. Quinoa is just the goat when it comes to protein, like it's just a stronger, more intense protein. So what i do you can do it two ways, if you're being lazy like me, i boil it and then i take all of it and then throw it in the um in a in a dishwasher in a blender, i blend the quinoa with the water. That was extracted from me boiling it, and then i mix it with greek, yogurt, okay and then avocado, which is the cream base and literally put that in my hair, sit in it for like 25 45 minutes, you want to open up the follicles, so you're just Going to set it under heat - and i said 25 45 minutes because you can go up to 45, okay and usually me - i usually go to the max because i i set it forget it and forget like set it and forget um. Sorry to pick me down in the back, okay, if i hear something and then the other thing that you um or the other way you could do the quinoa. Is you just just like the rice, water, you let it sit and ferment um for 24 hours and then you come and you can use it as a rinse. You know what i'm saying stuff like that. Like i said, i do the lazy version because that's just me like i just i'm sending homemade, i got ta hurry up and get it done like i don't got time adhd, you know what i mean and things to do. Kids. You know what i'm saying so anyway, um so back to the point um yeah, so i think i talked about for the most part like the benefits, so we just gon na bypass. All of that, we know the benefits. We know why we need it. We know that we need protein and we even talked about the fact that you need a good protein ratio. Okay, let me talk about that and then i'll go into um and then i'll talk about um i'll. Tell you the products that i like. Okay, then, where i'm at today in 2022 of of june okay. So if you have low to medium porosity, you're going to use your protein you're going to do the protein treatment right - and this is according to dermatologists according to like you know, specialist, they say if you have low to medium porosity hair. You want to use your protein treatment at least once a month, and you want to moisturize at least three up to three times a month right. So that's like, if you wash your hair every week, that's literally you're gon na moisturize every wash day. That'S that's the standard right um for high porosity, hair you're gon na use your protein treatment twice a month right and you're gon na moisturize the same amount of time after during every wash day and for damaged hair, and this is what we're talking about your hair - Is not damaged but we're going to treat it like it's damaged after you take down the braids um you're, going to use your protein treatment three times for that month. So what that means is all right. Today'S day, one you took down your braids go watch my other video, where i talk about how to treat your scalp right, how to nurse your scalp back to health, but i'll give you a little insight here. You'Re gon na wash your hair with a medicated shampoo, not with any shampoo or medicated, because we want to we want to groove into. We want to kill the bacteria, the fungus we want to mitigate that get our ph balance right back to where it needs to be and bring down the inflammation and the irritation on our scalp. So we're going to use the medicated um shampoo go to that other video, so that you can find out what i was talking about. Okay, then, after that, you are going to um to treat your hair you're going to do the protein treatment that day you're going to do the moisture treatment that day and you're going to make sure that um you're doing your protein treatment. That once you take down your braids every wash day for that month, okay, that makes sense, makes sense, we're here we're here so you're gon na. Do it every wash day. You'Re gon na do protein and moisture okay, protein and moisture. So now let's go into the product so right boom and, like i said, pick me them so okay, so forgive me all right, so i'm gon na say my honor honorable mention and then these are some mentions um from an article um from dermatologists. My honorable mention is olaplex number three and zero okay, this combination, i love i'm out of it and you know she. Ain'T had money to go buy some more. So i made my my diy one at home. Okay, inflation got me messed up, y'all, but anyway, okay and then anyway, so you want to use um, zero and three. I believe those are the numbers right. Zero is like the little it comes in. It'S like the the liquid, like the clear liquid that comes in the i'm gon na post it somewhere, and then you do that, put it in for ten minutes, then you're going to use this as a pre-poo, but it's a pre-poo and protein treatment in one. I loved it: okay because it makes your hair manageable to for wash day so you're going to do that. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then you're going to add number three. Then let number three sit for 10 minutes. Okay, so you're letting them sit for 10 minutes. Okay, so that's a 20 minute. Stick then you're detangling finger detangling and it's gon na it's gon na your fingers are just gon na go through your hair like butter. I don't care what your three a abcdefg. What 4c, whatever you are, your fingers are going to run through your hair like butter, because this is just really going to just make it malleable and manageable right and then you're going to wash you're going to wash your hair with the medicated shampoo okay. So this is what we're doing. This is what we're doing okay um. So i love olaplex zero and three um. I was really pissed that i didn't have it okay, i was really pissed. I didn't have it and so, if you're like me, you're gon na give it a double double whammy: you're gon na do the olaplex, zero and three as a pre-poo, but it's also a protein treatment, but then you're still gon na add a protein treatment. No, it's not too much, because your hair is mad weak right now, okay, it could get all the all the uh cpr. It needs right now, all right. So this one is my one of my personal favorites, um, honestly um and, as you can see, it's empty is done like. I also need to buy this, but, like girl, like i said, like girls guys, you know yo inflation. You know mortgage all of that stuff, like i just like products right now, it's kind of crazy so, like you know how to do my diys, i already told you that, but this one is one of my favorites um, it's all in whatever language. This is, i mean um. I i'm gon na try to post the description, the amazon description up, but this one is just powerful. It works and it's affordable. It'S like, i think it's under 25 bucks um. This is a really good protein treatment. I have another video where i go into debt about this one, i'm so sorry that i can't go into debt because i don't have it in my notes. I just had it in my thing and i just want to show you that i actually use it. Okay and see it all right next, one, okay, olaplex number, eight bond, intense moisture mask. We dare you to find, and this is what they wrote a beauty. Basically, this one is we dare you to find something that has better praises of olaplex um. This one has the patented bond building technology which all olaplex has the treatment, helps strengthen fragile strands and replenish the hair structure and yeah. This is just really good for it. It'S a moisture mask, that's what it is and it's number eight from olaplex the next one is briogeo: don't respare or briogeo: sorry, ryogio, riozio or briogeo; okay, don't despair, repair, rice, water, protein plus moisture, strengthening treatment. So, like i said when it comes to protein, you want to have the good protein moisture balance right. You want to have that, so this is kind of like two in one, so this has rice protein, it's commonly naturally sourced ingredient of protein treatments like rice, um and rice. Of course, like we all know, it has amino acids that helps to strengthen the strands. We all know this um. It also includes an active ingredient called inositol, which has been shown to help mend and repair hair. So you know me: i am a sucker for anything that has an active ingredient with clinical studies to back it up. That means it's been studied, okay, whether it's been studied in a lab, it's been studied amongst people and it has proven efficacious results. I am a sucker for that. Okay, that is where i come from. That is what i'm for and i'm about so i'm always gon na be like active. Oh there's, an active in that so yeah rio gio. I ain't! Try it personally, but i'm gon na try it okay, um. The formula also has um algae algae extracts b. Vitamins for hydration antioxidant support and a healthy shine, and why is antioxidants, important class if you're subscribed to my channel? You will know the answer to this question. If you're not subscribed to the channel okay and you want to load your hair up with antioxidants because antioxidants kill, free radicals, free radicals kill hair follicles. So if you have a crap ton of free radicals, you best believe that your hair is thinning ma'am or sir. Welcome all right that was my quick, quick synopsis. All right. This one um is a recommendation. I'Ve personally never tried, but i did like what it said. This one is the odell or odelle. Forgive me guys if i'm mispronouncing it moisture mask. It, has hydrolyzed rice, protein and quinoa, and that's why i liked it: okay, basically um it delivers a lot of hydration. It has glycerin argan oil and jojoba, so this is also a moisture protein mix. So it's not just going to make your hair strong, but it's moisturizing and you need that great ratio and balance of moisture and protein. So it sounds good. This one um k, 18 bio, mimetic, hair science, leave-in molecular repair hair mask now. I'M going to tell you, like, i said, i'm a sucker for science, okay, i love active ingredients and i love anything that sounds so scientific, okay, um, because i know that it's gon na have everything in it to be effective and powerful boom. Okay. So this one is powered by the brand's k18 peptide, okay, a peptide for those of you who don't know is a smaller form of a protein. So it's a protein, that's broken down into a smaller form so that it's easily absorbed by the hair. Okay. So whenever you see a product, a hair product that has a peptide in it, that's a good thing, because that means that they took the time to break it down, so that the hair can actually absorb the protein okay um. So a unique amino acid sequence. That'S just the right size to reach the innermost layers of the hair. This treatment will leave your locs impossibly soft and shiny. Of course, i'm reading off their stuff um just know that it functions as a leave-in, not a mask after you step out the shower. You basically apply whatever you're going to apply and you leave it in. We know how to do the loc lco and whatever other methods that we do with our leave-in conditioners. Okay, so that's why i would absolutely get this one in addition to everything else: okay, because it's a leave-in now let me see if it says anything about how often you should use it not here, but i'm actually, i'm very um. Let'S do this little research together. I'M trying to stay under a certain amount of time y'all, but i just want to see if it gives um some information and you can find this one by the way at sephora, and it is on the bougier side at 75 duels, okay um. So you know i would reserve this leave-in if you do decide to buy it, for when you know your hair is really at its worst like when you know you just took down them: knotless beautiful, knotless, braids, okay, um, the lemonade braids that you had for the Summertime you took that you took down that tape in that micro link and your hair is a little. This is when you want it. You want to use this okay, but i'm trying to see if it gives me um okay, how to use any information on how to use it um. Obviously you leave it in um. You leave it in style, as usual use for the first four to six washes. Then swap to maintenance mode as you right, okay, exactly what i was thinking, because it's protein, you can't just use this leave-in every single day, like you, would all the leave-ins that we learn to love that we all use right. This is specific to damaged hair. This is specific to when your hair is weak, and so it says here, you're going to use it for the first four to six washes so the first month right or more, depending on the level of damage, and then after that, you only use it when you Need it as needed? Okay, so please y'all take my word for it. I ain't getting no credit for this. I ain't getting nothing. In fact. I'M gon na start changing that, because i'm tired of promoting telling y'all, but these people and these people don't even know i exist. Okay, we need to change that and that's my fault, because i ain't turned this into a business. Yet i'm really doing this because i care like for real for real okay um anyway um yeah. I should definitely get this one, especially for after your braid take down your protective style take down or whatever your hair is weak, because you just wanted to be batty. It was your birthday, you didn't care, you was over it. You color bleach, your hair. You said yo, i'm tired of walking around here. Looking like my hair ain't, never dead. Kay Gee: Hi Bev! I appreciate all the information that you provide to us, I currently have in Knotless braids and this video is right on time, I am a little confused as to the moisture/protein balance, would I need a protein treatment and then apply moisture as a leave in afterwards or do I just invest in a product that is both, I’ve always been confused as to that? Thank you so much. Keep up the great work sis
