DISCLAIMER: This video was made in partnership with Aveda to share my experience, tips & review of the Nutriplenish Hair masks. I have been testing out the masks for over 1 month and using the entire line since it first launched last year. As always, all opinions are honest and my own. The description may also contain affiliate links. This helps support the channel and allows us to continue to make videos like this. Thank you for your support!

I got called out, or rather commented, somebody commented on one of my videos saying curly hair is a full-time job and that inspired today's video and a whole new series out of me episode, one of the how much series presents what's good everybody welcome to yet another Remains by mel wash day in today's video you're gon na see how i manage my hair throughout the week morning night and everything in between and we'll be calculating the time. Every time i touch my head, we're gon na set a timer. Oh time is already on the clock. I got ta get started so without further ado. Let'S get to it. I am not going to be skipping any steps today. Okay, so this is going to be very realistic. It might be a little rustic might be a little crustic right now we're starting a little bit crusty uh, i'm on day nine of wash before washing, and so is that something i recommend not necessarily, but for me, if i can stretch my hair, i will, if I can't because my scalp says no, then i won't. However, i do feel very blessed that i can do this. That does just mean that today i need to go extra crazy. So, like i said, we're not skipping corners, i'm going to take you through a full routine, and i am strategically going to pick my products that are going to do the work for me, products that will deeply condition and nourish my hair, as well as protect my Hair from the harmful effects of the sun, this video is in partnership with aveda i've loved the veda for so many years. If you've been following me for some time, because you are subscribed, then you know that the aveda neutral, punish line is some of my essentials, especially in the summer time for heat and uv protection, as well as deep conditioning. These are the new light, moisture and deep moisture conditioning masks, which i am excited to share with you and put on my head, so we're gon na go ahead and get washing. My hair definitely feels very build. Uppy she's built like this she's built up she's built the crust up. All right time is on the clock and that's if you are ready or not we're gon na start with cleansing and i'm gon na go in with the promisona scalp cleanser this treatment. I used to do this in salon and they kept everyone coming back for more. I love this stuff and i personally don't use it enough. Then i'm going to go in with my second wash. The first shampoo took care of my scalp. This is just going to be nourishing for my ends and nourishing it is the nutribullet deep moisture shampoo is one of my absolute favorites. I almost would consider it a coat wash, but the best part is it still lathers it still subs up and makes me feel. Like i'm getting the clean that i need distributes evenly throughout the hair, while still conditioning and rinsing beautifully now, here's where i would recommend going in with your regular conditioner to help detangle first, because it will save you on product like these are deep treatments that will Better penetrate and nourish your hair, when it's already detangled without having to use too much, but i do want to show you how these detangle, because a lot of the times we are just detangling with our deep conditioner for deep conditioning and there's there's water. In my eyes, there's water in my eye, but there's no time there's no time to worry about that so going in with our light moisture. This is for fine to medium textures, which is what i resonate with there. She is compared to the deep moisture look, how thick light moisture deep moisture. Both of these masks have the same key ingredients, as does the rest of the nutraplenish lime. These are plants powered by pomegranate oil, coconut oil mango seed butter. The difference is the concentration of ingredients. The moisture mask is more buttery. You can tell that she's thicker like me, and just how conditioning this is going to be for more normal to coarser hair types. Coarser, hair extra frizzy hair extra dry hair is going to benefit more from the deep moisture line because it's going to help to give the extra coating of protection to keep that moisture in i reach for these products. When i need my wash days to last me because they give me the long, lasting moisture and are also multi-benefit you could they say that you could leave these deep conditioners in for just two to five minutes, which is what i'm aiming for, because i love a Fast-Acting product, but you can also leave these in overnight as per their instructions. Now, what i will advise when you are doing a deep conditioner overnight is usually not too, but that's because it's not good to soak your hair, keep your hair soaking, wet and water overnight. But if you were looking to do a treatment overnight, you could lightly mist your hair, and then you can apply this and keep it on your hair overnight for an extra treatment wash it out the next morning. This will be great if you have extra extra fine hair that is easily weighed down. But honestly, the light moisture mask is a light, moisture mask. It doesn't weigh the hair down, even if you have fine hair. So if you have fine hair, but it is very dry - then give this a try. I wish i started a whole new timer for detangling, but you know what it's only happening within a couple of minutes. Considering this is like day nine hair throughout the week, i'm gon na share with you how i keep my hair as minimally tangly as possible, so stay tuned, i'm gon na rinse and i'll see you out there right now we're here. It was 26 minutes to fully wash and do all my business in there detangling included not too bad. Now we're going to go in and start styling, which we've got the nutraplenish leave-in conditioner for all hair types. This is my prep product in the styling process, and while this is gon na help me with detangling and slip as i go in with my brush styling, this is also going to provide me with heat and uv protection, heat protection up to 450 degrees, which is Huge for me, i'm just gon na keep using the same tool. I was keeping it simple silly. This is what i would be doing with my typical routine. Besides sectioning, which is non-negotiable. The next step is i'm going to be layering another cream over my hair, because, while the leave-in conditioner is good for all hair types, it's not enough on its own for me to style my hair, i always need a cream now, usually my realistic routine is a Little bit longer because i'm always trying new things, and so you know i'm reading the bottles, i'm discovering i'm feeling things out. I could try something new today, but i'm just going to follow the steps that i know are tried and true. If you saw last year's aveda summer routine, this is what i was using. It'S the daily moisturizing treatment, deep moisture, which also provides uv protection. So if you feel like the leave-in conditioner spray is not enough, for you then go on with this now i did say this is realistic, right um, in the middle of doing my hair routine, i'm also filming and i'm gon na film, another clip of a tic Toc right now, this really prolongs everything, but not by that much, but actually it can be a lot. It'S fine it'll have to do 40 minutes. Damn it anyways we're going to go on top of these juicy defined curls with the curl jalet. I got a good like quarter, maybe a looney size amount. I am applying generously and that's going to give me the longevity you may be like mel, that's so many products, but i do this once a week and she lasts me and i'm just smoothing now. I could just smooth if i wanted to really emphasize elongation, but i do like my curls to have a lot of bounce, so after smoothing it over, we will scrunch and now i'm going to go ahead and diffuse dry. I do always naturally diffuse on high speed and high heat for efficiency, not having to worry about heat damage. So i'm going to do that and i'll hit you with the final wash day time. Okay, the hair is almost dry, so i outfit changed into my final form. There is a nice crunch on the hair and i can begin to really just scrunch to diffuse dry, with maximum volume and bounce. Take a look at the cast. It'S a nice flexible hold, but it is nice and strong. That'S going to keep the definition in my hair all week long, but i am going to finish this routine with the nutraplenish multi-use hair oil just to pump and that's going to help me soften things up and really bring out the volume look at it. Look at our juicy day, one curls and i will be back tonight for the night routine. I just did my skincare i'm turning the timer back on and we're gon na do a night routine. I actually discovered something recently if you struggle with a little flat crown. I got a hack for us and it doesn't take much i'm turning the timer on. We are going to need one of these comb clips all of the hair. That'S around the crown here, just to make sure that i kind of flip it up. I want to make sure that it's gathered and i'm going to stick the comb clip against my scalp. This is not uncomfortable, actually very comfortable. It feels secure i'm going to flip the rest of my hair over and i've got my trusty vegan silk bonnet here. Put that on, i tuck in my ends. So now my hair is majorly sitting at the top here. Everything is up but not pulled into a scrunchie. This is how i go to bed every single night with the new edition of the comb clip, but i have a few other tricks that i'll share later on in the week. Let'S end this day, one so far, i have spent an hour and 45 minutes we're gon na round up. This is me realizing i've spent under two hours on my hair today, but not an hour more. We may have to do a little refreshing throughout the week. We'Ll cross that bridge when we get there, i will see you in the morning good morning: it's 902 staff meeting stopping this is our staff meeting and the timer starts okay. Well, let's take off the bonnet hello, we're gon na take her out and we'll flip up. Can you see the movement in my crown? I actually placed it a little bit low, but it did still keep all of that hair lifted off of my scalp. It was very refreshing to take it down. Gave me no issues when i slept no tangling issues either and we'll continue to sleep this way for updates. As for the curls, this is day two you think i'm touching these. I have to try not to touch these. That'S that's where the challenge comes in the hair is touchable. It'S super soft. The curls are chunky shiny. So while i try not to touch them, i have a lot to do today. So what i will do is keep a satin scarf on me fold. It in half flip it up and tie it in the back, and mainly besides this looking cube, i'm wearing it to help act as an umbrella, a defense mechanism, because today, let's hope not directly on me, but we shall see i'm on my way to cc a Lovely day to rain, i'm going back inside and today we're going to get ready for bed doing a bit of a different sleep style. So i will be using this and just shoving this in there and then you're going to want to take your satin scarf, but preferably this one's too small, preferably a big one, this one's 30 inches by 30 inches or 90 centimeters by 90 centimeters. So, with the shiny side facing my hair, i'm going to flip forward and i'm going to tie two of these corners at the top of my forehead. So this is a great option if you don't have a bonnet or your bonnet's in the wash tie knot at the top. Take your whole scarf you're gon na tuck, your hair into the scarf. Now i've got my other two corners and i'm going to criss-cross here. Tuck these in as well she's all tucked in and i have spent 10 minutes on my hair today. Realistically, it was less than that because i'm talking to you i'm filming day three coming up next good morning, happy day three, i just spent 30 seconds flipping off the hair scarf taking out the clip, and this is it now. I really don't need much refreshing here. So i'm going to stop my timer for now, but there's a couple things that we could do. First, i'm going to be taking a shower covering my hair with my bonnet. That way my hair doesn't get wet while i'm in there and the water droplets will ruin. My hair, however, the steam, the moisture that accumulates in the air can help to refresh my hair. That is if your hair likes humidity, so it's not like. I need any more moisture, but if you are in dry climates, then that moisture is going to help infuse. Your hair, with a little bit of hydration one last thing that i would personally do is add a little bit more oil on top to reinforce shine and kind of seal. The cuticle keep in all that moisture that just got infused into my hair, but if you have a softer and the circle pattern, oils might not do it for you. You may just want to reach for your hydrating gel to help tuck in the frizz and give a little bit more hold and refreshing. Tomorrow is going to be the day where we will be doing more refreshing, because well, i've got a very busy day. I'M going to an amusement park in the morning and a wedding in the evening, so i'm sure we're going to have to spend some more time on my hair. But i'm telling you day three 30 seconds until the evening and after a very busy day. Three that nearly finished me, i can happily say that hardly any time was spent on my hair. Today we are under a very modest minute and i am going to put my hair back where it belongs tucking. My comb clip back underneath this time a little higher up and i'm gon na slip on my bonnet, because it's even quicker now day four day, four we're gon na have to do more good morning. It'S day four, i already slipped off the bonnet, so i could gauge what i'm gon na be wearing tonight and uh. This clip is still in so let's just pull that bad boy out. The hair is still looking really good, however, in between now and the wedding tonight i am going to an amusement park. Let'S do my hair first, let me get dressed there. We go i'm just going to keep my hair in a little scrunchy, very likely that i will do an updo tonight. So i'm not too worried about putting my hair up. We shall see, but i don't want to stretch out the bangs, so i'm going to leave those out, i'm just going to finesse these bad boys and i think that's it we're down two minutes. Let'S hope it's not too many more midday check-in. I'M glad i have uv protection because it has been a sunny day. That'S okay! The hair is holding up really well now. Not only is it time to get ready for this wedding, but it's crunch time. I have about 45 minutes to do my hair makeup and get dressed, and i'm gon na start this refresh in the shower with a little steam fresh okay and it's the moment of truth, please! Oh, oh my! This is what i was afraid of honestly. This is what i was afraid of we're over 72 hours since my last wash. I have a wedding tonight and i wanted to do a cute hairstyle salvaging what i still had and the whole thing is fantastic. The whole thing, if i want to add some extra shine and hold, i can take some gel - i can take some water mix that concoction up and just smooth it over my hair. This is a good gel to do this with because it's hydrating all. I need to do is spot treat a couple of the curls that are a little bit wonky. Maybe around my face a couple in this overhead. The outer sort of canopy of my curls. Maybe tomorrow will be a day where we'll have to do some more refreshing, but this is one of the routines that my hair lasts so beautifully with i'm gon na. Let those pieces dry on their own do my makeup and then we'll come back to finish the style. Why do i look so pale on the camera? We'Re gon na be fine. We'Re just gon na ignore that the hair looks good and when the hair looks this good, i'm just gon na take our hair oil, a couple pumps smooth it over for shine, and i have this gorgeous clip with some blue. That'S in my dress, i'm just going to add a little pin right there i mean, i think it looks beautiful under 10 minutes on my hair today, which left more time for me to do my makeup, which i needed. Thank you very much. We'Re back we're on. I'M gon na remove these pins. The kicker to all of this is, i don't think i mean i'm gon na jump the gun here. I really don't think that having straight hair saves you all that much time i mean people with straight hair still have a night routine as well. They have to brush their hair out. I hope where are the strategies out there? Let us know what your night routine is. If you have one and maybe calculate how much time you're spending on your hair, because really all we've spent here is a very modest minute, or at least that's all. I'Ve spent here, obviously everyone's routine, is going to be different. Some people have to wash their hair more frequently. I tend to be very lucky, but what i'm most lucky for is the fact that you are still watching this video. You must be thinking now. What are you gon na give us? What can you give us? That'S different. Well, i'm sorry, i'm low maintenance with my hair, but i want you to consider that i'm gon na stop the timer right now, because my my routine, my hair, is done. I want you to consider that these very low maintenance, as well as low manipulation styles to my hair and your hair, prevent damage prevent split ends, encourages growth. That is truly one of my best, not so secret hair tips, the less you do with your hair, the better, but i mean i'm sure i'll - do something with it soon stay tuned. This mascara is blinding this time day. Five i've got my workout fit on. I'M gon na be exercising a little bit so we're going to remove the bonnet and i could exercise in this, but because it's all enclosed, sometimes it can just make my head really hot. So i'm just going to pop in this satin scrunchie to a loose very loose ponytail at the top of my head and at the very end of my workout and we're out. Okay, i want to let this breathe as i breathe deep breaths deep breaths before my sweat can dry. I'M gon na remove my hair. Now the post workout refresh just like pretty much all of my refreshes - starts with a steam fresh. So back on the bonnet, and at least i'm not stretching out my hair pulling it into a scrunchie. My hair is going to float in the bonnet. While i take a shower no, i did not start the timer because i'm not actually spending any time on my hair right now. All right, i'm showered, i'm dressed, there's a lot less sweat. I am going out tonight and let's take a look at the hair. I'M doing something very casual. My hair honestly looks good enough that i could leave it down, but here's the thing if you're working out a lot - and you are feeling a little self-confident about the smell of your hair, then putting it up may be best all night. I'M gon na be outside it's a really windy day, and so i'm gon na put it up for multiple reasons which, if i don't take care of now or prevent from happening, then my next wash day is gon na, be a lot longer than i intended. So i'm gon na take some more oil. Okay. This is just what i do just smooth it over i'll leave. My bangs out for some face frame gather my hair in a mid to high ponytail, give her a good twist like so, and then i'm just going to take a claw clip. I'Ve never actually used this one. Oh, she is high, she is high and she is perky. So now that my hair is contained, the wind blowing won't kind of blow any stink, which sounds gross but we're being real here, and it will help protect my hair from getting really knotted and just like that, we're just about out of time. So we are going to stop the clock and stop collaborate and listen, but tomorrow i do have another event. Yes, we are a socialite, but i will have to do a lot tomorrow and even tonight, because i have not yet dry detangled, my hair and since it's been five days, there is going to be a lot of build up in there, which we will have to Take care later i am late, so i'm gon na go now. I got home very tired, but that does not stop me from doing my night routine, which consists of oiling and gently finger. Detangling, i'm separating the curl clumps and tangles just a little bit before, calling it a night putting the bonnet on and that's it. We'Ve gone through many days and today may be the last we may be on our last limb. Still looking, you know good, i was trying to rhyme that anyways and she smells like a bonfire, which you know kind of really sucks and i've got places to go people to see. So, let's get styling. I want to do a slick back situation, and so i'm going to wet down all of my roots just the roots. I don't want to disturb the curls on the ends until maybe later, if i have to do a little bit of refreshing, just massaging that down the mids of my hair. Now i'm going to use some of my leave-in conditioner to help with the you know the brushing of the back. This will help me start to detangle my hair and i'm just first using my fingers to direct my hair, where it's going to go. So i don't have to do too much work with the brush and cause too much stress on my strands. Part of the hair. I am ever so gently brushing this hair back. The teeth of my brush aren't even touching my scalp and it's already looking so slick and smooth because of all of the prepping we've done. I am going to take out a couple tendrils scoop and pull. I might actually want to just do a half up situation. Yeah, i'm feeling, like the curls, look good. Underneath still, let's see what amanda says: she's facetiming me ma'am very nice. Now remember the dress that you had bought that looks great sweetie how's, my hair look. The back is still looking really good, but yeah. Okay gon na go because i'm on the clock, bye, bye, see you soon, she's checking on me to make sure i'm not taking too much time on my hair because we do have to go. This is snatched okay, i'm not hating it. Let'S take some delay refresh the bangs okay, that's cute! That'S cute! That'S cute! It'S giving i'm gon na add a little bit more just to make the rest look fresh. My hair is clean. It'S clean girl, aesthetic, all right, i'm pretty happy with that. While these pieces dry i'm going to be taking these no crease pins, i'm going to be doing my makeup, so this is going to help to hold my hair out of my face, but i also want to lay these down flatter, so they're not poofy, and so I don't have to apply a ton of gel to my scalp to do that. The rest will do itself we're gon na stop the timer for now and here perfect, remove the clips, and that is the look okay and total time today. So far is 19 minutes. I did this hairstyle in in under 20 minutes, and i was talking in between so i could have even done it a little bit faster, all right, it's night, and it is time to prepare my hair for wash day. There'S a lot going on here and in preparation for my wash day. If i'm really being lazy, i will do nothing besides, where my bonnet. Yes, i still wear my bonnet the night before i'm washing, because my hair is dirty and i don't want my dirty hair. Touching my pillowcase, i'm gon na protect it and that's pretty much all. I would do right now, but let's say i'm doing the most. I'M gon na give myself a good scalp massage, which will lift up a lot of the flakes or any product build up off of my scalp, which you know is perfect to do the night before wash day. So it's going to be easy to wash away. Oh yeah, she is not looking pretty and then just to finish things off to pre-treat my hair before shampooing, and also help to remove a lot of that build up, fallen hair. That'S in my hair! We'Re going to do some hair oiling. I can take a hefty amount of the nutraplenish multi-use oil i'll, smooth that over my hair, like you saw me doing the night before i'm taking some more hair oil. But this time, i'm being a little bit more thorough with my detangling, i'm not afraid to mess up the curls, because they're already messed up and i'm going to be washing the next day. What i'm really focusing on is getting rid of some of the bigger knots and mostly trying to pull out any of those fallen strands that if i don't get rid of them now, they will cause a lot of issues when i'm detangling. So this saves me time on my next wash day and then i slip my bonnet on, which will also have a wash day tomorrow and we're done six days down. This would be a full wash week for me, starting the whole process over tomorrow to spend another. Approximately are you ready, the time has come and i have spent two hours 41 minutes and 19 seconds on my hair. I wouldn't say that that qualifies for the full-time job salary. But what do you think and in comparison, how much time do you spend on your hair a week and what should you maybe spend a little bit more time on? I hope that this video gave you some insight on a week of my life realistically and what some of my go-to long wearing products are. As i have mentioned about a million times, the invaded neutral plenish line is some of my go-to's, especially throughout the summer, and i have absolutely been really loving the new treatment masks. If you want to look more into these, i will have the link for them in the description box below. Thank you so much to aveda again for working with me on this video. I genuinely love these and i know you will too and i will let you know how much perhaps product amount, perhaps money i spend on my hair throughout the week coming up next in uh the how much series that is, if you liked this type of video, Give it a thumbs up if you did make sure you subscribe to see the next one we'll see you then peace, my little chef hat my little chapeau a little um, take me to paris, musty, crusty and dusty. This is the how much slash how many cherries much and many are basically synonyms. That'S the word for it any housers. Why does it sound so echo in here hello? Over? Did i mess up my no makeup makeup? Hey graham, oh, i got a handcraft me. The way to go back like this, we go back like this. I pioneered my own career in the hair industry with the baby and i love them, and i love you for loving me wow today's energy. I am starting to melt. I should have done light moisture on this side, because fine goodnight, these lights are bright. Oh

Manes by Mell: NEW SERIES ALERT!!! HOW MUCH ________________ ! Stay tuned for more and thank you so much for watching! We sincerely hope you enjoyed this week in my hair's life!<3

mcd: Would love to see how your sister’s week is different! As a wavy-curly with low porosity hair, I can stretch it to a once a week wash if I’m mostly at home, but if I have to make it look nice I have to wash by day 3 :(

Phoenix, About Everything And Nothing: Thank you for starting and continuing this channel. It's changed my hair life, my sister's, my Mom's, my friends, my daughter's (she doesn't care as much, buuuut). You're making curly hairs everywhere happy every day.

Lissa Sue: Just wanted to stop in and say Thank you! ♥️ I am 32 years old and have NEVER, not even for 1 day, worn my hair down curly. Since the 5th grade I have been straightening my hair almost every single day. No one ever taught me how to take care of my curly hair so I just tried to hide it. I came across one of your videos while scrolling through YouTube and decided since I didn’t have anything else to do that I would to spend my afternoon trying your tips. 1 week later and I have not only, not straightened my hair, but I have worn it down curly every single day!!! I am now in love with my curls and watching all of your videos to learn more :) Thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Elizabeth Bennett: Would love to see a "how much" conditioner you use per wash Every curly knows, the conditioner to shampoo ratio is NOT 1:1

Amine Ninja: I used to think that curly hair was a full time job, until I simplified my routine.

Gabrielle Goubran Sprinkle: Love this series idea!! And we appreciate the dedication, especially when you filmed the night after the wedding I just kept thinking I'd hit the pillow before filming

Samantha Lynch: Love this video! If the smell of your hair is an issue post workout or sweat, I love the not your mothers mint scalp and hair refresh mist. It’s helped me so much with this!!

Ruth Kuder: It's amazing what you can do to make your hair last. I had been trying to go for long periods of time between washes but my scalp just couldn't take it. I actually started to have significant scalp pain. Love your videos. Thanks for all of the great advice!

brieri1: Your hair is so beautiful. Even though we don't have the same hair type, I really enjoy your scientific approach and knowledge base. I have very wavy fine hair mixed with some curls. It seems like no matter what products I use and no matter how much, my hair is weighed down a lot and my waves and curls largely disappear. I've watched a lot of your videos and can't seem to find anything that works for me.

Nikki Shafer: YES YOU ARE OUT HERE CHANGING LIVES! we all appreciate you and your sees thank you for all you do to educate us

PermAnently Jaime: My perms have never lasted so long or looked so good before watching your vids and using all your amazing advice. Thanks for being hair for us!

Heba Maher: I shall definitely time myself! I know for a fact I take around 2 hrs on washday but I wanna see how much time I exactly during each washday!

Maria Knopp: You tell it girl! It may seem like curly hair is a full time job, but it really isnt. The first day takes me the longest because I want it to last as long as possible which helps me to spend less time during the week. Watching you girls has saved me more time and boosted my self esteem. I have been able to realize the beauty of my curls that I always knew were there but never knew how to take care of. The seesters have saved me countless hours of tears and frustration. Wish you were around 20 years ago in high-school. Keep doing you!

Sharon Rolls: THIS VIDEO IS SO HELPFUL! This whole time I've been wondering why my hair is so tangled on wash day when I spend exactly 0 minutes during the week on my hair lol Thanks Mell for being our Hair Guru! ❤️

Ari Jay: During last weeks texture Tuesday, I peeped the clarifying shampoo bottle looking just like my olaplex product packaging . I thought to myself, Mell is testing an Olaplex clarifying shampoo. Today I saw Olaplex post about their new clarifying shampoo the 4C? Dang I was right for once!

nicole miranda: For those with thicker 3c hair, I preepoo 30 min, washing would be another 30 min, plus deep conditioning (can go from 10 to 30 min) depending on the treatment. Defining my hair is a good 40 min to an hr. (Fair to say I do have some color damage in my ends, but still). I wash my hair every 5/6 days. I use Argan oil in my hair every other day before I go to sleep. But I love wash day, while it is time consuming I feel it’s quite relaxing. Love your show.

Blair🦋: Loved the video!! Those weekly type of videos always relieve my stress and it's great to have someone out there that has beautiful hair while also low-maintaince! Keep going girl!!

Elianis Valle: I agree, curly hair is a full time job!! but the love for the curls is worth it I enjoyed your video Mell

Teresa Folan: YESSS FULL ROUTINEEEE LET’S SEEE ITTTT love the nutriplenish leave in for the heat protection (it smells bombbb too), gotta try a masque now hehe

Lyana Gonzalez: 50% of my week is spent on my hair , would love to see more drugstore brand reviews like garnier fructis , suave, ogx, ecostyler gel , Loreal….. would be real nice to see an in depth review if a drugstore brand under 9.99 and that hopefully around 5.99 you guys recomend twist but is hard to get for me i have to oder it online and it can be pricey since each product is 10$ two products =20$

𝙸𝚝𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚒☯︎︎: ur the reason i define my curls and dont brush it out, ive always been insecure of how tight my curls are and i always used to wish i had straight hair but when i saw ur channel i was like wow we have the same curl type and shes rocking them and now my hair has never been healthier thank u so much mell!

Anne Josephine: When mel was saying "oh no, this is what I was afraid of", i was so confused at first because her hair looked wonderful.

Christina: This was great! So many amazing tips!! I’m struggling with the post-gym and summer humidity frizz ‍

Monica Arencibia: I used to have a very complicated routine and honestly never did my hair I just put it up in a bun or ponytail with a braid because I don’t want to take the time and watching your videos have taught me less is more and what proper techniques and correct products I needed to get the results I wanted

Bori Michels: I love this! I always time myself, because I am always late when I wash my hair! and I try to cut time in every step

EA Sko: Mel you have amazed me with pushing your hair that long. I’m working on mine and I’ve barely made it to five days. You are so helpful.

Gracious Grit: Curly hair routines are so much easier & healthier than straight. When I straighten my curls I have to brush it daily, actually style it each day, use a flat iron or wand to fix any wild pieces. Straight hair also gets greasy/oilier way faster so then your hairstyles looks gross and slick. Each time I straighten mine I think to myself wow how do straight haired people do this on a daily/weekly basis lol… way too much work! Curly hair can just wake up and go! No need to brush it nor style it, unless you want to of course. Plus curly hair can go way longer before washing, usually a week.

Addy Grubb: Thank you for teaching me so much about how to take care of my curls, they are in need of some TLC tonight for sure You are always giving me helpful ways to keep the curls going all week!

rinny59: Love the video Mel! I like the realistic view of what you actually do with you hair each week :) My questions is, if you have a looser hair pattern and workout almost daily, what can you do to elongate the time between washes? My hair does not do great with refreshing, my hair pattern loosens as the day goes on, whatever curls I refresh will look totally different that the rest of my hair. I don't need it to look perfect or uniform, but it looks like a mess after refreshing, so it's up in a bun day 2 and/or day 3. It's been trial and error for over a year now, but it's more error haha!

Jennifer Stevens: I love Aveda. It's the only high end brand that I invest in. Never dissapoints. I spend way less time on my hair now that I no longer straighten my hair. I too only wash my hair about once per week. When I used to straighten, I had to wash my hair almost every day cause my scalp produced way more oils than it does now.

Wandy Gonzalez: Great video. When I started with a routine, thanks to you Mell . Yes it took me a while. But now I do it in no time. Like a pro lol. And I am loving my hair all over again. Took me years. But thanks to you my hair is growing beautiful.

Rocio Logy: Love this concept! Definitely will try this on my own routine.

Rachelle P: Happy texture Tuesday, thanks for another great one seestas! . You guys have made me come to appreciate each and every Tuesday's a little bit more lol .

Virgene Andelin: Always such good info. You and your Sees are my hair inspiration! Even though I am more of a wavy curly, all your tips and tricks work for me too!!

Yasmine Yaiche: Love this vid Mell thank you for posting! This gives me hope for my routine + transitioning hair. For the day 1, did you end up brush styling your whole hair? I dont know if I missed but I noticed you scrunched after so I wasn’t sure if we were supposed to do that after brush styling

Bekah Robertson: This is a great video. I feel like for my thin hair I have to use water everyday - everything else weighs it down. Any advise? Also, what much eye patches are you wearing? Thanks Mell!

Ambrosia Cupp: I have to say because of (and thanks to) you Mel, I may spend about 2-3 hours on my hair on the weekend, I literally spend less than 5 minutes on it throughout the week. Take the silk off, fluff MAYBE add some oil but otherwise no time. I'm in love. I straightened my hair one weekend for a wedding and due to humidity I Co washed and wore it curly after day 2 because it was too much work in comparison can't believe I used to do that every day.

Kayla Charisse: So grateful for these videos and I absolutely love how close you and your sister are—my sister and I are super close too, and I had to laugh when you were on FaceTime because we do that kind of stuff all the time :) Anyway, not sure if you’ll see this but I have a hair routine logistics issue—my hot water heater is really only good for a 10 min shower—how would you go about your wash routine with such limited time? Any advice would be appreciated!!

Katelyn: Watching this video knowing full well I have to wash my extremely fine hair every day (I’ve tried to go every other day and my hair can’t handle it), do the scrunching upside down method whether using conditioner or leave in and in the morning wetting my hair and putting mousse on it, scrunching it and heading out the door. I have 2c/3a hair

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! Love the early videos!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Yelitza: “You can tell that she’s thicker, like me”…. Me too girl, me too! love you humor.

imaginefun: I'm definitely wondering how long I spend on my hair now....although usually days 2-4 I don't do a single thing to my hair besides fluff a little at the roots . I'd like to petition that even when you aren't actively working on your hair, it's most likely always stuck in the back of your mind. Like that one video you did ages ago about the natural curly girl instinct to pull your hair away from potential squish damage. And I definitely have spent some time looking in reflections to see if my hair was poofy. So while it isn't a full time job, it will always be on your mind like the slice of cake waiting for you back home

Marisa Hendricks: Mel, I have very fine, loose curls (2a-3a) and spend almost a full style time on my hair every day to get it to bounce back. Spritzing (which takes forever to get it wet enough) then re-scrunching which often requires additional product, then diffusing. Any tips on how to shorten this time but still get good results?

Wendy: I love Aveda products. The leave in conditioner spray is amazing.

C. C.: I crack up at how little time you spend on your hair each day. The bonnet shrinks my hair so bad so I don’t use it. I have the refresh everyday with cream or gel, and water, finger combing. Your day 6 routine is my everyday routine.

Mimie N.: I would say this is pretty accurate, depending on the type of wash day I'm having... I personally like to sit under the dryer or steamer when I DC, so my full wash day is closer to 2 hrs

BSeie: Love you babe - you are da bomb! And that took a lot of work to take us thru a whole week. Hugely helpful. Most helpful i have seen to date (and i have seen alot)!

𝙸𝚝𝚊𝚌𝚑𝚒☯︎︎: i loved the day 6 curls that hairstyle and outift was everything

Sara Nicholas: Loved this video! I’ve no idea how long I spend on mine ‍♀️. I have to wash more often though as it doesn’t last, I’m more wavy/curly so wonder if that’s why it doesn’t last aswell. Was actually surprised how little time you spent though! ❤️

WavyHairCareBlog: This made me curious how much time I really spend! Definitely more than you do, but I wash my hair 2-3 times a week. I don't brush-style so my styling process is quick but diffusing takes me 40 minutes or so, and I don't usually do any refreshing on non-wash days. So I'd guess I spend around 3 hours a week on my hair.

Rowan Rosmalen: Hi Mell, When you've said you took less than a half hour to wash your hair I was shocked. My hair always get's so tangled during washing with a shampoo it becomes one big knot. Also the detangling proces takes me a half hour. Do you may have some tips to put in less time in my washday? I would love to do it as quick as you do.

BatN1ppl3s: I really liked this video, I'd love if this became an ongoing series. Mell, I have a question. I'm going to a waterpark next week and this will be the first time swimming since going curly. In as much detail as you can spare, please let me know if I need to wash my hair every night after swimming? And if yes are we talking regular shampoo or clarifying? Should I coat my hair in a little oil every time before getting in? And if I missed anything else, please let me know! Thank you so much ❤️

Dayness Vázquez Cintrón: And here I’m thinking of washing my hair (it’s been a week and 1 day) but I don’t find myself motivated to do it (as always). I wanted to go with a simple wash day to not take that much time but after watching this, I really don’t think I take that much time so LETS GOOO Thank you! As always, I love your videos and appreciate the hard work you and your sister put on this channel! ❤️

Fatimah Ibrahim: Wash day for me is anywhere from 2 - 6 hours depending on the style and maybe 15 - 20 minutes for the rest of the week. I'm lazy and rarely refresh so minimum effort is like 2 and a half hours for me Since I braided my hair this wash week, I've already spent 5 hours on my hair and I'll need another hour to take it out

Olivia Hite: Love your videos! They’ve really helped me with styling my curly hair! Could you do a video on Aveda’s botanical repair line or ivanti line? I would love to see some different Aveda products since they’re my favorite brand!

Iman Johnson: I am down to wash hour with K18! it makes my life so much easier, but even without, I am still doing no more than an hour and a half on wash day. I tend to wash my hair once every 5-7 days depending on how lazy I am. but since the girl is about to be braided up, I'm going to do a 6 hour "day" and then practically nothing for 5 weeks!

Aimee Mitchell: Loved the "like me" moment your beautiful @manesbymell!! I Love your makeup in this video! Your skin is glowing!!!

Alanis Pineda: I loved this video super excited for this series

grace: It takes me roughly 2 hours per wash day and I have to wash twice a week, so that's 4 hours for me. But! I managed to not touch up because I listen to your priceless tips! Thank you for saving my time. <3

Bobbie Combs: Your hair is always amazing!!!!! You give me goals to work towards

lily mcintyre: I love your videos so much ❤ you taught me how to look after my hair properly

MaryAnn: I enjoyed this video immensely. My wash days can be an hit or miss. Today turned out half ok. Top of my head was frizzing as I started drying it. Ugh I used the curlsmith heat spray and curlsmith shower fixer. Not sure what I did wrong. I ended up spraying it with water and loading products to save my hair day. My hair is similar to your hair Mel. I think I messed up by not putting creams in. Any ideas?

Gabriela: I don't know how Mell does that, I spent a minimum of 3 hours on my wash day, plus the refreshing it may be 4 hours per week. I wonder how much time does Amanda spent on it, since she has longer hair...

Vero Alcalde: I feel like this video it’s about the time you spend in the operation part of the job, what about all the office work/time we spend worrying about our hair or choosing the right products, buying the right products, watching a 26min video that is teaching us how to take care of our hair and a lot more things! I definitely agree curly hair it’s a FULL TIME JOB! Love you girls

damayia: I want to see a curly hair routine with no edits like no cuts full thing lol

nicole condor: I have tingly wavy hair and untangling my hair all the time and fighting the frizz takes me so long

Junior Chaves o Picasso de Yahushua: 0:03 Omg Stunning from head to toes!! Seriously, you are really a beautiful woman. You're beautiful anyway, Mel ❤️❤️

Kassie Greeley: You are the best and changed my curly hair forever!!!

Deanna: Never clicked a notification so fast lol!! Absolutely love aveda products!!

Anna Komnatna: I spend 30min to 1hour for washing and styling (depends if I blow-dry or not) and 5 min for refresh, making "greek style" for the shower (I feel like scarf covers my face a bit, so my scincare routine became problematic) and putting silk scarf on.

Chloe Jayde: Honestly, when I used to wear my hair straight it'd take longer to manage than it took you accross the span of a week. Because I wasn't moisturing it enough, it'd take me 30 minutes at night each night just to detangle it. I'd need to wash it about 3 times as often, so that takes time too. Unless you have perfectly straight hair (that's thick too because thin hair needs washing super often), I think most people are spending a decent chunk of time on their hair.

imyourhappydrug: Ok wavy 2b/2c girl, balayaged on natural blonde, medium porosity with some UV damage and halo frizz. My routine is as follows: day 1: dry detangle half and plait it, do same on other half, apply a couple of pumps of cleansing oil to scalp and massage in to dissolve build up from dry shampoo if necessary. Jump in shower, take hair ties out, get hair wet. Use a mix of a squirt of clarifying shampoo with a gentler shampoo, massage in and use scalp rubbing tool. Then rinse, apply toning conditioner mask for 5 mins while doing other shower things like bodywash, shaving, face wash etc. Get hair wet again and detangle, add hair food for extra slip if necessary, squish to condish with head tipped to side, add in cantu curl activator same way, plop in several microfibre turbans then air dry or apply heat protectant and diffuse. I use a silk pillowcase. Hair looks great until day 3 where I may dry detangle and have it in braids for a bit to settle frizz from brushing. On day 4 I add in some dry shampoo, by day 5 or 6 it is time for a wash. Once or twice per month I do an olaplex and deep conditioning treatment. Time per week on my hair is probably 3 hours as it is long and dense.

Patrick Hanschen-Saldi: He mell, as a up coming hairdresser I really injoy watching your channel on YouTube, it's funny but very educational. Keep it up .

Emily B.: Okay you totally sparked my interest. I have pin straight hair that's pretty long for me. For reference, It gets stuck in my arm pits now if I don't put it in some form of bun, braid or clip Today I washed my hair and it took 4 minutes to shampoo and apply conditioner, I let the conditioner sit for 3 minutes, then 3 minutes of rinsing everything out and wrapping it up in a microfiber towel. Then 2 minutes blow drying just my bangs (I air dry the rest). For bed I put it in the most generic 3 strand braid or rope braid. I haven't timed that yet but I'm sure it only takes a minute or two, then in the morning I brush it out quick and throw it up in a clip or use a French pin for a super easy 30 second hair style. Soooo if my calculations are correct, I don't spend a lot of time on my hair but I don't tend to put much effort towards my hair and my hair really only requires a brushing and a washing every so often, unless I feel like getting fancy and using a deep conditioner or styling it some type of way my brother on the other hand has VERY long, thick, and curly hair. I think I may need to ask him how long it takes him to do his hair. I really enjoyed this video!!

Tanairi Mastarreno: I love this! But why do I feel like I take 2 hours on my wash and prep day , what am I doing wrong . I love how juicy and shiny your hair looks!

Maha Abdelkhalek: I still have a lot of damaged hair, and I work out everyday, so I definitely spend way more time on my hair every week :')

November S: Wow, Mel. I have 2c/3a long hair. It takes me 20 minutes to blow dry, then flat iron my hair straight and I am DONE. Hair looks great. At night I use a scrunchy to put my hair up in a ponytail at the top of my head. In the morning I remove the scrunchy, comb my hair straight, and I am DONE! When I go curly I take HOURS with all the stuff I put in my hair, then scrunching, then at night I use the ponytail, but the next morning my hair looks like crap and I have to refresh my entire head because the curls get flat and frizzy. I showed my mother the curly hair process and she said if she had to do all that to her hair she would shave her head!!! I am starting to think that way, too. :)

Sophia Aloeristok: One of my biggest time commitments with my hair is definitely wash day. Unfortunately I am one of the unlucky ones who have to wash twice-ish a week. Balancing a teaching job that has its own time commitments is challenging to say the least lol. Ill definitely try some of these times saving tips though because I definitely felt that one comment!

Kellz Willz: 9 days!! Your hair is AMAZING!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Mel, I ENJOY washing my hair … so after 3 days…even if it isn’t dirty, I wash it. Is that bad? Should I let it get dirty and wait til I see product buildup or flakes?

Samantha Davis: My hair is naturally blonde, thick, and wavy, so of course I destroyed it and wore it bleached and straight for a decade which took 45 minutes a day to shower, dry, and straighten. When I stopped bleaching it and using no heat appliances whatsoever it was 30 minutes a day just to comb it, and up to four or five HOURS for it to get dry enough to comb. Now, thanks to your videos, I'm using curly hair products and a diffuser to dry and it's 5 minutes every day to shake and style it, with 1.5 hours on wash day. I'll still lighten it a few levels sometimes to switch things up, but I had no idea I'd ever be able to have hair that didn't need several hours to make it look good.

Loraine Mcgillivray: Hi Mel I wash my hair once a week, but I have a very dry/eczema prone scalp and dry/course hair (2c/3a). I'm disabled (so I'm not really exercising) and as I live in Scotland it's only warm for a small portion of the year. I use clips, satin scrunchies, scarves and other hair accessories to keep refreshing to a minimum, but I do apply a bit of mist and oil some days if it's a bit dry looking on the ends. I have a t bar of high lift tint highlights to blend in the white threads I'm naturally producing at 50, but I'm a medium blonde base colour naturally. My scalp can get a little dry during the week, so I apply a hydrating scalp serum overnight when I need it. I think those with finer hair or an oilier scalp may struggle to wash once a week only, but it works fine for me. Best wishes.

Manta Raye: damn i wish my wavy hair was this easy to maintain from day to day. i have to work SO HARD every morning.

Tanya Klein: I haven’t tried any of those products yet…. Looks like I’m gonna have to go shopping again soon! Love your adorableness!

Emily: “I just spent 30 seconds flipping off the hair scarf.” Took me a few to realize you meant taking off the scarf, but making a particular hand gesture.

Mylady Figueroa: Okay, loved this video series! And I would for the next episode to be about Amanda and how much time she spends on her hair.

Stesanie82: Would love a series with a wavy hair guest and some of your tips for wavy hair.

JoAnne Hutt: Great video! I have thick coarse hair amd can maybe stretch 3 days before its so dry and frizzy. Any tips to Extend wash days? Im in the fifty club and love ur hairstyles but feel like maybe they might be too young for me? Secondly, will using an oil overnight make me greasy the next day?! Thanks for the curly wisdom all the years! You both are amazing!!

Katryna Raye: okay I might need to try that satin wrap technique. Maybe then my hair will last I don’t have naturally straight hair but when I did straighten it all the time I spent no time on my hair wash one day of the week and maybe if I needed it redo some parts. imo definitely easier than wavy/curly hair

Kaylee Yates: I just got a perm and would love to see a tutorial on how to care for straight to curly permed hair :) I feel like I’m afraid to treat it like natural curls because they don’t naturally bounce back like someone with natural curly hair so I I get nervous about combing it and using products properly. I’d appreciate any tips<3

Ataume: I find it tricky, because I train 3 times a week where I Dutch braid my hair and shove it inside a fencing mask. Not great for your curls. So I *have* to wash my hair three times a week... But I take what I can from your channel to get my curls as good as possible. I just have to have realistic standards. But any tips you have for a "quick wash" (if something like that is even possible) would be great.

Kim Gossling: When I worked in an office 5 days/wk, I'd probably spend about 5 hours on my hair. I have textured, very thick hair (usually arlund shoulder length ) that I would always straighten or curl, never wore it natural. Every other day washing. I spent A LOT of time on my hair! LOL

Gizette Edis: That comment is spot on . I have literally been rocking some form of cornrow/braided style for 2 weeks because I know I just don't have time to do the most right now.

ATM: straight hair girly here, i spend so much time on my hair every week so i dont understand this whole "straight hair is easier" stuff lol. I have A LOT of hair so it takes forever to wash, condition, detangle, and dry. i have to spend like 10 minutes brushing it every morning, and another 5-20 minutes styling it depending on the day because i hate wearing it down. so, yeah, i think i'd probably spend more time than mell did lol

piki4862: I've been on my curly hair journey for 10 years and I feel like it's a full time job. That's why I live in a bun/pony. I can't get second day hair. I can count the number of good hair days I've had in that time on 1 hand. I can't refresh, wet or dry. ‍♀️ I have a weak curl pattern. Easily disputed. On a great day I have juicy spirals. 99% it's stringy loose waves. My hair would never survive all the handling your hair does. I love your hair

4 Love, by Sara: I never knew I was curly/wavy so I grew up thinking my hair was straight. And I promise I used to spend more time on my hair than I do now. And I don't have great curls like you do so I feel like I need more refreshing. AND, even when I don't do my curls (which means it lays straight once dry), since my hair is 100% healthier than it's ever been so it always looks better now than when I had "straight" hair!

Carlis Sunny Vlogs: Your such a vibe you always make me laugh ❤️❤️

katie Schnackenberg: The outfits were really cute as well. ❤

Ambar González: Yup! We need more of this series!!!!

16ShiningUmbreon: Bruh, it takes 45 minutes JUST to detangle my hair, and that's if I only wait like three days. HOWEVER, my hair is down to my ass....so I have an excuse. :) Loved the vid!!
