Goddess Braids Tutorial | No Added Hair

Hi guys what's up and welcome back to my channel, so if you're new here my name is afrolicia and over here natural hair is the topic. So i just did like my perfect winter wash day. I did a pre-poo just with some carrot, oil and then i use the aphrodite organics shampoo and conditioner left mine, amazing. I saw i can't remember what her name is, but i saw this picture of her with a tongue with like straight braids, and i was like. Let me try this with curls, but the last time i did it. I didn't like it that much so. I'M gon na change a few things. Hopefully i like it more and as i do it i'll tell you what those things are. I added a little bit of this. My natural hair, leave-in, conditioner loki. Actually one of my favorites. Now i actually went out. This is my second one. I went out to go find this and i have a newer line which they selling clicks, which i wasn't that sure about. But i'm really sure i like this one. So i actually went to go pick it up with eckerman's, because i know that they sell the older line so yeah. I definitely do want to try the newer ones, but i just know that this is like one of my staples. So so this is kind of like braids with curls long story short yeah. Let'S start i'm not the best at partying. I don't really care for parting. It'S not like i'm going anywhere special but yeah. We'Ll try don't judge my party because i already added like say about five pumps. All over my ear, i'm just gon na add one pump to the whole back section that i probably will be splitting into like a few braids. I'M just gon na part. It in three parts, so first up, is if you wan na, do this: okay um my a puffs up a lot when it's dry much more than it like the volume is times 1000 compared to now in its weight. So, to kind of minimize that i'm gon na use a nice and strong shoulder gel, i'm gon na go in with a dark and ugly 48 hour gel it's kind of my last little bit, i'm going to be using so yeah, but this should carry me through My laser, i would definitely recommend a gel per section. Okay, let me just show you how i do it. I added my gel now make sure it's nicely smoothed out. Then we just start braiding as normal i'll kind of try to feel out of one bigger section. A singular further on down the line and then break down so because i want my curls to kind of bling, so you can see it's like that two pieces out, because i want my braids to kind of blink. I will stop kind of sooner than i normally would and just encourage a curl over here at the bottom. If you want to, you can add a rubber band, i don't feel like i need to my. It will just coil up on its own, so there you see now we have our braid with our two pieces of curls out. So this is the thing i did. This before - and i left out about like five curls per braid, okay - and that was too much it's almost like my braids - got lost in all the colds. I left out. Also the curls do become a little bit frizzy. That'S why i suggest for the gel um. So yeah, so i feel like lease calls just looks better. In other words, it's just harder to maintain the hairstyle, because you really need to smooth out these girls when these girls get frizzy. The whole hairstyle looks super frizzy, so i would stick to less curls and also a nice strong gel to actually keep that color intact, because you don't want it to get frizzy and yeah that's kind of the first one and that's what you continue to do. Let me show you on this one again i'll go in with some gel. Let me smooth out the hair and start braiding. You can decide how far you want to start taking the clothes out. It'S really and also what you can also do. Is you don't need to leave curls out in every braid? If you don't want to you can kind of decide, but the thing is i kind of had to do it to see how it looks before i actually knew what i wanted. So that's how i know i don't want to leave out like too too many clothes, but just enough, my hair is extremely coily, it's more coily than it is curly. So my coils like do that. It doesn't really do that without a strong gel stronghold. Gel can kind of elongate that coil for me, and i feel like this is what i need otherwise, my braids in the ear and my curls all in the yellow, i feel a stronger gel will really help with that and make the curls just a bit less Coily and a bit more elongated, that's why it also doesn't hide your braids. So what i would kind of suggest is, with these curls i kind of smooth the gel just down the sections, i'm not really coiling it. It is going to coil on its own. Doesn'T matter how straight it is, my hair is curly so but like shingle, your clothes down, so that it doesn't like get super coiled up and it's way shorter than your braid. So so, okay guys. So this is what we have so far. It doesn't look like much, but don't worry it's not supposed to yet. I'M just gon na go continue with my back and everything and then i'll come back to show you when i'm almost done and when we are done just want to come and give you guys. Like a few pointers, i've picked up along the way you want to make sure your hair is not dry when you're doing this, because getting these curls that come out. Okay, like you see those curls, you want them to be able to clamp on their own, but you don't want to take different strands. They don't want to curl together. You want them to model this curl on their own and water helps with clumping. So i'll just make sure i just missed my water make sure when you're also doing it like, i always need to check that. I'M not adding these small little pieces of curls into the new braids that i'm doing it's just like loose pieces over here. That could get caught up in the brain okay, so you can see that if you don't, if you're, not getting nice cold definition to see what colors you want, you can add maybe a little bit more water but like, as you can see. If i separate it like that, i kind of see clothes that are cramping together, so i'll kind of look for one. That'S a nice size that i don't mind taking out and keep that aside and then i just smooth it out with the extra product. That'S on my hand, okay, guys, i'm just gon na go finish. These two do my edges and just wait for this product to kind of like soak in my hair and then i'm gon na come and show you the final result. Okay, guys we are done. I'M done with my hair um, the side kind of install the product is still pretty soaking in, as you can see a few white spots, but don't worry it's definitely gon na dry and disappear. This side is mostly dry um, but tell me what you guys think it doesn't look that much different to my normal braids and i, like the amount of curls i left in it just like, adds some texture and volume to the braids. I like it. One thing i will do is i'll actually take these braids and maybe tie it to the back like that i'll, maybe do something like that on both sides, but anyway, guys that is my hair. For today, i kind of really actually like it. What i still want to do is just one more thing: this is a just a finishing oil. I'M actually testing the products for this brand, so this is like not how it comes. This is just like a sample for me to test out um. This is the finishing oil and it smells so divine. So i'm just gon na put this between my hands and maybe one and how you refresh this every day is. I will just do my edges and then, if i see of these curls or getting a bit frizzy or maybe whisk them a bit and edge out shingle it down like that, let it dry to get kind of like not as coily as my normal curls would Be even though it is quite curly, but yeah so yeah guys. I don't like my hair that much actually, i don't like water on my hair that much so i like doing quick styles like this, that i can keep in for a few days, even though i might not even keep any days but yo. If you watch this far, you probably do still care about natural hair, but i want to ask you: do you think that the natural hair topic has like fallen off, because i personally do i feel like it's like, probably compared to a few years ago, when naturally, It was like at 100, i feel like now it's like 35 and it's steadily going down like interest-wise and even the naturally content creators. I used to watch that make a lot of other type of content even me, but yeah. Just let me know how you feel about it. This is, i was wearing it now. I just tied the front to the top and yeah i like the tying up, because it's like clothes and braids, you don't really know. What'S going on. One thing i want to come tell you is, if you are doing this, try and do it as early as possible like during the day, because you don't want to sleep on it while it's still wet because braids, when you sleep on it and it's still wet Or it just dries up in uh, not hanging position, then it dries up very quickly and in all different shapes and stuff, so yeah i would rather just leave it and let it dry on its own, but that is my hairstyle.
