#curlyhair

My name is Renee and I have very curly hair, very, very curly, hair. I told you all in a recent video that I've been playing around with some styling tricks. I haven't changed my hair products. It'S just the way and the method that I'm styling my hair, and I want to share that with you in today's video, because I have discovered a few super simple, such small techniques that have made a drastic difference in My Curls I have less frizz. I have more defined curls around my face. My Curls are not hanging in my eyes and I have some volume and lift up at the top. So today's video is my tips and tricks and new techniques about how I'm styling my curly hair. So I'm gon na walk you through how I style my hair from just fresh out of the shower when it's wet. Until now and along the way, I'm going to show you the hair products that I use for my very fine hair. I have lots of hair, but every strand is very fine, and so I have specific products that I use they're the same products I've been using for years and years. I love them. They work great with my hair, I'm going to show you my styling tips and two brand new styling products tools that have been absolute game. Changers one gives me very defined curls if I need it or if I have a crazy, wonky curl somewhere, and I have no way to fix it. This tool will fix it for me and the other tool gives me lift and volume right up here in the root and in the back and in places where I tend to get very flat. So this is going to be a fun hair, tutorial video. So, let's get going so after I take my hair down from my trusty microfiber hair turban, I wrap it around my shoulders and Spritz my hair. I want my hair to be pretty wet when I put the product in not dry and my first product is Bounce. Curl light cream gel. I do one squirt, along with one squirt of paw Mitchell, skinny serum squish it around in my hands, and I want to flip my head over and just kind of crunch it into my hair. Just a light quick Crunch - and you can see here - I'm raking my fingers through the very very bottom layer of my hair. Only then I'm going to stand upright and do another pump of each of those products and I'm going to do each side of my head. Very carefully doing praying hands to pull the product through my hair, I'm not putting pressure on my hands and pulling my hair straight. I want to Crunch in that product really. Well, then, I'm going to use my very favorite product, which is curls Rock amplifier. This is the one product I cannot do without rub it around my hands and basically I'm just going to repeat, but on this product I am not going to run my fingers through the bottom layer of my hair, run it through generously scrunching my hair throughout and Again, paying attention to the crown and the front of my hair, the crown of my hair is where I tend to get less volume and I get frizz. So I want to make sure that I get the product evenly distributed in that area. Then around my face. I want to do a little bit of finger coiling to give my hair the direction that it needs. I want to tell my hair where to go instead of letting my hair just kind of make its own decision, so I do wrap it around my finger. A couple of times, just in the crown where I part my hair and I do have a thin spot on one side, so the finger coiling helps to disguise that thin area. On the other side, I have a wonky curl pattern, so I want to get those curls going in the right direction and tell them where to go. Plus my hair tends to get frizzy around my face and when I do a little bit of finger coiling, it makes the hair Clump together and I have definitely less frizz. I also have a frizzy section at the nape of my neck, so I do the same thing in that area. Scrunch it one more time to get everything Blended in really well and then we're good. So I'm going to take off my microfiber towel and I am going to very gently soak up any of the excess water that is in my hair. I'M not disturbing the curls, I'm not messing up the curls, I'm just very gently taking that microfiber towel and removing any excess, drippy water. Now it's time to dry, so my favorite hair dryer, absolutely with the diffuser and instead of flipping my head upside down, which I had been doing at this point, I'm going to stay upright. I don't want to mess up the curl pattern, but I want to take my hair dryer and just run it around the outskirts of my hair to dry the hair. Let it kind of get set, let it get a curl cast and let the curls get defined on their own. Before I start to flip my head and do the roots, so I'm going to do this for a couple minutes. Just not disturbing anything, and I just run the hair dryer all over the perimeter of my head, making sure that the outer layer of my hair and My Curls is getting dry before I start to flip. Now, I'm going to start drying The Roots. The underneath of my hair, using my fingers to kind of lift the hair up and using the diffuser to get into the root area. This is really when my hair is going to start to dry and you're going to see the defined curls start to form. So I just work my way around my head constantly moving my head flipping my head from side to side doing the crown lifting up my hair at the root so that I can dry The Underneath and my hair is still really wet at this point and I'm Not flipping it upside down, I want to stay upright or kind of bent over to the side so that I can draw the roots of my hair and then look how much volume my hair really explodes. When I do this, you can see the volume I don't have any frizz, but I'm starting to get defined curls, and I want to make sure that I dry the hair at the nape of my neck. When I'm standing upright. I don't want to dry the hair at the nape of my neck, when my head is flipped over, because I found that it creates a lot of frizz. When I do that and it's teaching the hair to go in the wrong direction and it takes away the length of that hair, so I really want to draw it with the weight of the hair pulling it down and it's hanging straight. So I do dry. My hair for about eight to ten minutes this way flipping and moving the entire time. It seems that the length of my hair, the bottom of my hair, is the very last thing to get dry, and so I work on that last and when my hair is about 75 percent dry, that's when I'm going to turn off the hair dryer the area Around my ears always takes so long to dry. It'S the last thing to get dry for some strange reason, and I really have to work on those areas to make sure that it catches up with the rest of my head and now that my hair is 75 percent dry and I've turned off the hair dryer. I just want to let my hair fall into place, and this is where I'm going to go about gaining volume. I discovered the new coolest tool it's available on Amazon. I don't know how to pronounce the name of it. It'S something a little crazy, but it is designed specifically for curly hair. It will give your curls lift and volume without disturbing your curl pattern. It'S a strange little device. It has these long prongs, but it worked Wonders on my hair. I tend to get really flat. Hair in the part area, and so I'm using this tool to give me lift and volume the front curl in my face, always wants to go in a weird Direction. So I use this tool to tell that curl where to go to get it back off. Of my face and look at that, it does exactly what I want it to do. I'M going to do it once more back in the crown of my head, which is where my hair is always so flat, and it's going to give me lift so slide it in give it a slight twist put your heat on it for just a couple seconds. Just enough to get it warm and then let it cool before pulling it out of your hair and boom. Look at that lift it's amazing. So you slide it into your hair. Where you want the volume give it a very slight twist, and then I dry it with my diffuser for about five to ten seconds just until it's hot and then I want to remove the Heat and let the tools stay in my hair for a couple seconds Before I remove it, now don't get freaked out if the curls are weird or the angle is weird, because it's gon na fall as I continue to style my hair, I'm just concerned about the volume and the direction I am loving this little tool, I'm so glad. I bought it, it was a bit on the pricey side and I always knew that. I could return it if I ended up, not loving it, but I truly love it and I use it every time I style my hair. So if you have curls, I highly recommend, so my hair is still wet. Don'T forget that I want to dry it 100 at this point, so I'm not going to flip my head upside down anymore. I'M just going to use my diffuser, concentrating it in the areas that are still wet setting in that lift and the volume that I just gave myself around my face and in the crown area. I just want to make sure that my hair is completely dry before I put away my hair dryer and the underneath the nape of my neck, I'm drying it from the outside in I'm not flipping my head upside down. I want to keep the hair elongated with some weight on it from the other hair around it and I'm going to dry it from the outside in so my hair is now 100 dry and look at the curl. The shape isn't great. We'Re going to get to that yet, but it's completely dry, I have volume, I have lift and I'm going to let it sit. I'M gon na go put on my makeup. I'M going to let my hair cool I'm going to, let it chill out for a little bit. Then I'm going to come back and I'm going to style my hair, so about 30 minutes has passed and I'm going to take dry hands and I'm going to scrunch out the crunch from my product. This is the first step in styling, My Curls. I want to make sure the product is loose. My hair is free-flowing, it's soft, and this is when I really can begin to see the shape of my hair, which curls are crazy, which curls are looking real good. Is my hair going in the right direction? Did I end up with the flat spot? This is when everything starts to take shape. I love to give a little finger, lift to my hair up in the crown and pull on the nape of my neck to just get the hair loose, because when I was drying it curls can tend to get stuck together and I just want to free it Up at this point, yep around my face is just still a little weird. I get some crazy corkscrewy curls that have no definition to them. They have straight sections, they have curly sections and I need to fix them. So so my half inch barrel, curling iron. Does the trick, I love this little curling iron. It is super small, the perfect size for My Curls and I just take one small section at a time - put the curling iron in at the root very close to my scalp turn and twist turn and twist. I'M never letting the heat sit on my hair and you just quickly turn and twist turn and twist keeping your finger on that lever so that your hair slides freely through that curling iron watch this. This is crazy. I give curl definition to the curls that don't have a very good curl if you're a curly hair girl. You know exactly what I mean so grab the curl, put it Loosely in curl, twist always pressing on that button. So there's no tension on my hair and I do have the curling iron set on a medium heat. So it's not burning my hair, I'm not going to have heat damage and I only do a couple of curls around my face when it's needed, and it really just gives some great looking curls, where I need them, but turn and twist very quickly and look at How much better those curls look, then I just take my fingers work them in uh. Oh got ta got a crazy one. Take my fingers work in the curls, give it a little bit of lift, get everything situated where I want it to be, and my hair is always really big right after I have just styled it, but throughout the day it's going to settle it's going to calm Down a little bit, but this is when it's at its biggest then I'm going to take my favorite hairspray. Do a teeny, teeny Spritz and I just kind of run my fingers into the root to set the hair. Where I want it to stay, I'm not spraying. My whole entire head - it's really not for hold. It is just a styling trick to keep the curls in their current position. So that is how I am now styling, my very curly, fine hair, my favorite hair products. This little Gadget right here, which gives me lift and style up in the top in the areas that I tend to get flat and then a handy dandy, half inch curling iron. This is what gives me definition and curl when I have wonky Pieces Just Like You All saw. I use this super quick, not a lot of heat and boom and I hope the tips and tricks I showed you in today's video will help you with your curls. If you're interested in how I take care of my gray hair, because you got to keep your gray hair, shiny and bright, you don't want it to be dingy and dull. I have a video all about how I do that and my favorite purple shampoo I'll link that in the description box and I'll see you in the next video

WELCOME TO MY CURLS: The styling tool I'm using is AMAZING...a must-have for curly hair gals. And Conair recently updated the look of the half inch barrel curling iron (my version apparently has been discontinued) but the link I've provided is for the updated new version

Lisa Dearing: I have blonde hair that is so straight it’s ridiculous! Yet I watch your curly haired styling videos like it applies to me! I just enjoy watching you Renee no matter what the topic is! I hope you are healing well!

Sharon Selfridge: Hi Renée, hope you’re healing well after your surgery. I cannot believe the difference in my hair since I began using the Curls Rock Amplifier I’m using far less of my curl cream and serum and refresh is as simple as a quick spray with water ‍♀️ LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! I definitely need to buy a curling tong for the wonky curls though.

1StellarGirl: Your hair always looks beautiful, but I have noticed the added volume in your last couple of videos and it looks amazing! I have some spots in my naturally curly hair that have start to “split” near my crown - I thought my hair was thinning, but my stylist says it’s normal to get weird “parting” with age. I’m going to try the volume tool to see if it helps!

Anne Bridgforth: Thank you for sharing your new tips, tricks, and tools. I just recently had a lot of length taken off my curls and I am getting used to my new style. Great to see what other curly girls do to rock their curls! ❤

Cheryl Hartl: Your hair looks amazing and I’m so jealous. I shaved my head 3yrs ago (@ 46) and decided to never dye it again and I am also embracing my curls for the first time in my life. I did not know how much work went into styling your hair curly, so much more then I ever did before since I’ve always been a hair care minimalist. I just have a question for you, why did you apply the gel before your other product (I haven’t tried the Catwalk product yet)? I’ve always understood that your gel is supposed to go last so you can get a cast….

Elizabeth🌸: Thank you Renee. This is a new world for me. I let my hair go gray during the pandemic, and discovered that my hair went from “pin straight” to curly…it seems like overnight! This is a brand new world for me and I am lost! Thank you for your tips…I need to figure this out! I hope you are healing well…blessings to you and your family.

Jo Anne McKinley: Hi Renee, I love your videos and your curly hair! Thanks for this curly hair styling tips video. My hair is straight, not curly, from the top of my head to the top of my ear, and then curls galore below that to my shoulders. I appreciate your tips for the curls.

Kathy Girlygirl: Love that new weird tool to lift the hair! Hope you are healing well Renee! Have a great and relaxing day!

cindy edmonds: Hi Renee! Love that you found the new secret for those trouble spots. It looks great, but then to me it has always looked great. I have wavy, baby fine hair that I've been straightening for years because the waves/curls had a mind of their own. Recently I went back to scrunching and I like it except that flat crown and some straight pieces around my face. I believe you solved my problems! I bought that same hair dryer after you showed it a while back. Have fun with the kitties! Did B go to the east coast?

Sandra Currie: Renee, your hair looks wonderful. I will definitely consider buying the new curl gadget you have. I have curly hair. Not as tight as your curls. My hair has been thinning out as I age and more greys come. Always willing to try something new. Hope you are feeling better since the surgery. Have a blessed day!

Melissa Morgan: I feel like you described my hair. Very thin, lots of curls, the same thin spot near my temple. Thank you for your videos!

All the Best: Your hair is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to have naturally curly hair! I like your tips on how to build volume.

Linda Sgambati: Renee, your hair looks great!! I will definitely look into those tools. Have never seen that one tool before, but it's a great idea.

Linda Ferrill: I love curly hair so much that I get perms (I know, so 80's), I use a vent brush in the same way you use that prong tool and it gives me volume at the root as well. I also took your advise a couple of years ago and bought the Bed Head diffuser and really love it, interested in why you switched to this diffuser, what makes it better?

kanona0115: I have that funky tool as well! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! Thank you for sharing!

Bree White: Fab!! And yep I have that same issue with going flat in back at crown…I have not known about that lil gadget—definitely checking it out! ❤

Michell Ervin: Hi Renee I am a Curly hair gal too. My hair is a lot longer than yours and I have long layers. I use Curls Rock and I put biosilkin to the mix, then I run it through my hair. Sometimes I will use a small amount of mousse by Paul Mitchell to add into the mix. Also I do us a diffuser or let it dry on its own. Thanks for sharing. Have a Great weekend ☀️

Debbie Buchanan: I bought the tool for my crown and I love it, too! It is so worth it. I have very thick, coarse hair and it really works.

Carol Fisher: Thank you, Renee! a few more tools, lol! your hair looks just beautiful !!!

Maggie's Life Is A Wild Ride: I have curly/wavy hair and I always fight the crown when drying because the weight of my hair pulls out the curl up there. Plus in order to direct my wavy curls I've been using a vented brush lightly with my defuser but we curly-tops know that curls and a brush just don't go together. I'm ordering the AUBONACCI CURLER and can't wait to try it! Thanks for all the tips! Hope you're doing well post-op and I hope you won't have any post anesthesia hair issues.

SunLovingLady: Your hair is the best. It just gets prettier and prettier. I'm loving your techniques. I wish I could finger coil! My hair just ends up wrapped tightly around my finger! :(

Carmen Salomé: Its beautiful!! I have very curly hair but not as fine. Great tips.

AidaJof: Good morning Renee, wow - your hair looks wonderful. That multi-prongued gadget really does the trick.

Jeanne zimmerman: Wow you have alot of work to do to get your curls looking good! I had no idea. I have blonde hair with body but fine. I also use a volumizer to keep it looking good.

Sylvie Dionne: Ohhhhh Renee, I have colour and curl envy! Thanks for tips

Terry Looper: Your hair is SO pretty just like you! Hope your feeling better after surgery every day

Jan Hankins: Wow! You certainly put me to shame. I don't do make-up (because I look like a poor child with a crayon got a hold of my face and had a seizure on it). I don' do hair (because the harder I try, the worse it looks). I wrap my hair in your hair wraps (which I love) and let it sit for quite a while and then take it off, put a little anti-frizz stuff on (which does absolutely nothing to stop my hair from frizzing), and off I go. I don't dry my hair as heat damages my hair (even with a diffuser). My hair is thick and coarse and it can take it 3 hours to dry completely. I envy women who have the ability to do hair and make-up. I certainly didn't get any of that talent at all. So I quit trying. I'd love to have someone who could do my make-up and style my hair for me!!

Leslie H: Thank you for sharing, Renee! The proof is in the pudding-or should I say hair and yours is amazing!

Grace Kelly: I absolutely love your beautiful silver/grey hair and the curls are awesome!! My Mom and brother have beautiful white hair and I am being blessed with the white hair coming in. Do you have any suggestions that I would ask a color specialist to make my greys mix better with very light brown and white hair I have coming in? I love that curly styling brush - that will help me with all the cowlicks I have at my crown. You are awesome!!! Thanks so much for this video. So helpful! Sending you prayers for fast & healthy healing. I had a complete hysterectomy and I have to admit - I felt fantastic. I know that is weird, but it is so true.

Lucinda Ortega - Garcia: Your hair looks amazing. I have curly/wavy hair but not as curly as yours. I’m wondering if you have to style your hair like this every day? If not, how do you keep it looking great between shampoos ?

silvana vivas: Wow...I thought your hair was just like that ha ha ha ha! Now that I know I admire you for your effort and willingness hahaha. I hope you don't feel bad after the surgery

Blessed 2B Curly: How often do you wash your hair and do you have a video that shows how you fresh your curls? Great video!

Lisa Malwitz: Super beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Ursula Mullikin: Good morning Renee! What a difference a week makes you're looking healthy you got the most gorgeous hair, I got straight sauerkraut for hair, maybe it's because I'm from Germany give the boys a hug for me

Cherel Brenner: Many of the products you recommend do not apply to my lifestyle. That being said, any product I have purchased after watching your pitch, have been fantastic. Hopefully, you made this video before your surgery and your recovery is going well.

Kat: Beautiful!

Laurie Davies: I always wanted curly hair…my favourite pic of me is in Alicante with tge children and I had a perm and my hair looked just like yours Renee but I was a natural blonde…wen I went grey just like you I had dark grey and light grey but no curls niw…your hair looks fabulous

Beth Elaine: How often do you do this process & how long does it take?

Kathy Naus: Stunning!!!❤️

Lori Brooks: Love your channel!

Y: thank you. you have beautiful hair. mine is also very curly and big hair. this video helps a whole lot.

Susan Bowen: Beautiful! ❤

Benita Jones: You have beautiful curls. You have done a great job figuring out how to deal with any problem areas with your hair. You are very fortunate. I was just wondering how your hair would look with hot rollers just to change it up if you wanted to. I am just curious to see how it would respond. I have some curl, body and waves. I lack volume in my crown also. I am not that great with styling my hair. I do use hot rollers if I’m going out and my hair really holds the curl. My hair dresser blows it out and it will go straight. Straight is fine ,but I still want volume at the roots and in my crown. Hope you are feeling better after surgery. Take care of yourself.

Donn: BEAUTIFUL!❤️

Froggal B: Is the TIGI bed head curls rock amplifier the same as the one you use? We have a very large Ulta salon/store here in town & one of the staff told me that the one you use has been discontinued & was replaced by the TIGI bedhead version. Can you only get the Matrix product on Amazon? I hope your recovery is going well!

Laura Mckinnon: Beautiful ❤

Let's Go Sew with Joanne Banko: Wondering what your time frame is from washed and wet to totally finished Renee.

EstherLion: Thank you! Do you live in a humid or dry climate? Cold or warm location? I know that also has alot to do with how products perform.

Donna S: Ok, I need all of these products....my hair is about the same length and shape as yours...(only my curls are not quite as tight).... I usually tell my girl at the salon to give me short layers all over... Lately I've been having a lot of frizz... So Im going to try these products ( I have used the catwalk amplifier and do love it) definitely need the new tool and I have never used s curling iron...but going to give that a try too..(can't wait ) Thanks so much for the tips Rene❤️❤️

M Alba: Your hair color is just fabulous...

Deb Meder: Forgive me I have always loved your hair but I would like to know what makeup you apply by brush to your face PLE,ASE! Thank you so much for sharing all details. Especially during you recent surgery ! Bless you and your family !

Cecil Hudson: Do you ever let your hair air dry and then finish with hair dryer?

Dehun Ludwig: How often do you wash your hair ? Scratch pups ears for me!

Diane Wristen: THANK YOU

biba: Your hair beautiful Renee are you still using purple shampoo if yes ow many time would you use your this shampoo

Stacie Brown: Hello! Love your videos! I can't find the 2 Dot Pantene airspray...

Donna Bittner: Why don't you use clips as you dry?

Susie Davis: Good morning! That curler product looks amazing! You’ve definitely got it down pat as your hair looks great! Have a good day!
