So i removed all my extensions last week and i'm also about four months postpartum so dealing with hair shedding and all of that, so this is me in my natural hair. I'Ve actually been kind of liking it. It'S really low maintenance. Super easy to just do a quick blowout in the morning, so yeah. If this is your first time here, my name is sylvia. I'M a hairdresser. I'Ve been doing hair for over 10 years and i also love to preach and teach here on youtube. All things hair. I also have a beauty online course that you can join and take today called live and look lux. It'S all about becoming your own beauty expert in your own beauty. You will learn what your skin tone is, what skin type you have, what hair color wet hair tone. It'S also going to help. You live a more luxurious life, and this has made a huge impact on my life, and i was definitely one of those people that thought luxury meant an expensive handbag and luxury is all about it feeling good on the inside um, rather than something that you necessarily Just see on the outside, i really do think this course can be life-changing in the best way, but it's also not something that is hours and hours long, that you're going to have to commit a ton of time and effort to this is really like a love Letter to my subscribers and my friends - and this is basically the information that i would have encapsulated um from my 15 years of being in the industry and basically what i would want to deliver to my friends. I will leave a link in the description box down below so, let's get into today's video today we are going to be talking about the five hair styling mistakes that you are probably doing now on my channel. We talk a lot about hair care, hair, color and styling is obviously the cherry. On top of all of that, and i feel like we don't talk about it enough on this channel. I'M gon na be going over five styling issues, and this video is sponsored by igk. I'Ve been using their products for years now. It is just fun, cool, modern, hair care that i feel like all the it girls are using, and that brings me to my first tip, which is dry shampoo. If you've been on my channel long enough, you have known that i've always loved a good dry shampoo. But, more importantly, i have a tip on how you use the dry. Shampoo, that's really going to maximize not only the potential of the product, but also of your style, and that is to apply the dry shampoo on clean hair. I'Ve personally made this mistake of waiting until my hair looks not so nice and then wanting to refresh it and revamp it and then whipping out the dry. Shampoo. The correct way is to apply all the hairs clean in an aim to prevent that oil from starting and therefore you are getting two things out of this. You are obviously postponing the oil starting at the roots, but you are also maintaining that volume that you created from that blowout and from the style you've just created, and so today the dry shampoo i am featuring is the first class igk dry shampoo. I absolutely love the way this smells. I'Ve definitely used other dry shampoos in the past that i love the way they work. I don't like the way they smell. I'Ve tried other products where i love the way they smell, but i feel like they don't work. This is a combination of both of those things, and so i've washed my hair this morning and gave myself a light blowout. So i'm going to go ahead and add the dry shampoo. Now another thing and another tip i want to give you i've seen other people apply dry shampoo in an incorrect way, and that is to apply it on the hair and not the scalp. So when i pull the hair up like this, i'm applying it here at the roots and avoiding the actual scalp so again coming on this side, you can also see the added volume that i get from the dry shampoo, which is an added bonus, but, most importantly, To me, when i apply a dry shampoo, i, like still being able to run my fingers through my hair and feeling like i have that fresh blown out feeling. I hate it when it feels textury and powdery and just really dry and it says deep, cleanse level. Detoxifying and oil erasing, which you definitely feel that it doesn't feel like a cover-up. It feels like it's helping the cleanliness you already have in your hair and just multiplying that. So, obviously, now that i'm a new mom time is everything and a product that is going to prolong my blowout and my style is an absolute must for me, but also for the fact that the more heat that i'm putting on my hair, the drier it is Making my hair so if i can prolong a style, that's not only saving my roots, but it's also saving the rest of my hair so i'll be leaving a link to all the igk products that i'm sharing here today in the description box down below. So you can go ahead and click that and the sephora oh harriet event is happening for one day only may 5th, and the igk first class dry, shampoo is only 16. Okay, next tip is for frizz, and this is probably one of the issues that probably affects most people, so whether you have straight hair, whether you have curly hair, most of us are combating some sort of frizz. My tip here is that it actually starts in your shower and with your blowout. So if you have a ton of frizz having a good quality like frizz, control, shampoo and conditioner is a must and then going in with a good quality brush. It gives me a little bit of those beveled ends and it gives me shine and kind of smoothness throughout my mid length. But now, if i do that alone, it'll look beautiful, but the second i step out in about half an hour. My hair will frizz up. So it is very important to go in with an oil or a frizz balm and the igk good behavior is an amazing amazing, frizz balm, it's going to give you a like keratin, like treatment finish. So if you know what a keratin treatment is it's an actual chemical process to the hair that coats every strand of hair and will make your hair dry in that same shape that you got done in the salon. So once you have a keratin treatment, you can, you know be out in humidity and your hair will remain a frizz free, so the good behavior by igk will give you that same effect for 72 hours of frizz free hair. I also love that it's one of those like twist bottoms and you can just grab a little bit of product and i feel like now. We all know the importance of packaging. It'S not just a visual thing, but the the way the product dispenses. The way you going to use the product daily again goes back to my living. A luxurious life is having those simple steps during the day, things that just make your life better easier, more enjoyable, and so i love packaging and tubing that just works so well and, as you can see, the shine is absolutely incredible all right. The next issue is a volume and, and typically my clients that had a ton of frizz would normally have a ton of natural volume and then vice versa. The girls that had less frizz sometimes lacked volume. The most difficult issue i think to kind of work around is when you don't have a lot of natural volume, and you have frizz and you're, probably using products on your hair that are going to be trying to eliminate the frizz and then they're going to be Too heavy and then you're left with even less volume than you had before so similar to the frizz issue. You want to start in the shower so using a weightless. Clarifying shampoo is key here and after you've cleansed your hair. You absolutely want to go in with a volumizing product on the hair, while it is still wet the reason why you want to apply it while the hair is still wet is because that the hair is still moldable and you're going to be training the shape you Want into the hair and if you apply the product first, whatever style, you end up, creating it's going to lock in that volume anytime, you see texturizing spray. That means it can also be applied on dry. So say your hair is already dry or you let it air dry and now you want to go in and add some volume. You can even do a little bit of light teasing and then go in and spray that texture spray and it's going to lock in that ton of volume that you just created now, if you're, applying it on dry hair. My best bet for low heat and high volume is to go in with velcro rollers, so the hair is damp. You'Ve sprayed your volumizing spray at the roots and you apply large velcro rollers and you go about your day and you let your hair completely air dry. You'Re going to be left with the most natural bouncy, beautiful volume that you have ever experienced and having that product in there is going to lock it in because i myself have given myself blowouts or done. You know even velcro, rollers myself. If i don't have a product to really support that shape, it is most likely going to fall through the day. All right next tip is when you should wash your hair. Now i have to say as a new mom, especially in my last trimester i washed my hair every night i had 22 inch extensions. I had a lot of hair and i couldn't even imagine shampooing my hair in the morning and having to do that. Crazy blowout um, so i would wash my hair at night. Let it air dry to about 70 80 percent go to sleep and then in the morning i would go in and give myself a blowout. Now, when the hair is nearly dry, when you are blowing out the hair, you can definitely smooth out your mid length. There'S not much you're actually going to be retraining or changing at the roots, and the reason for that is that follicle or that hair has already kind of dried in that angle. So, even if you add heat and try to like manipulate it to a different side, it's going to want to naturally fall to that side that it's naturally dried in. So you can absolutely get a ton of shine, a ton of frizz free. You know styling, you can get some more like bevel dense. You can still do that but, like i said, the roots are kind of locked in so now that i've removed my extensions and it's just my natural hair, it's so much easier to go in with the blow up, and so my tip here is, if say, you Are going to be going on a trip, and you know for 24 hours, and you don't want to wash your hair. The best tip is to wash your hair in the morning and because that way, you're maximizing that style, one because you are experiencing the cleanest part of your hair in that first day, number two, the hair has that time to really lock in that style all day. Long so that means by the time you go to bed that night. That style is so established. It is not going anywhere so you're not going to wake up with like a weird cowlick or like the hair, completely messy, as you would, when going to bed with hair, is still a little bit damp. So my tip here isn't that one is better than the other. It'S really about you know what fits your lifestyle best if you are going for having tip top beautiful hair washing hair in the morning is key all right. This next tip, i debated not putting it in because it seems kind of straightforward um, but that is to on days that you're, not washing your hair. You still have to kind of style and revamp it in the morning. Now it's going to take a lot less time and a lot less effort, but you still have to put in a little bit of effort, and i can't tell you how my clients lives have changed with this simple tip. I'Ve had clients that come in and say like. Oh, like i love the way my hair like looks when i leave here from the salon. My hair will like look great for like two days and then it like starts to like look awful and then i just put it up in a bun, and i would hear this over and over again and finally, one client was like yeah. Like i mean it just, it starts to like look awful like when i do my own hair the next morning. It just always looks awful, and so i was like well walk me through the steps like what do you do and she's like? Well, nothing. So it already looks bad and i was like, oh so you're saying it looks bad like from the moment you wake up, not after you've tried to put in some effort, and so a lot of my clients were like. Oh no, i just i kind of give up because it just looks bad, so there's nothing i'll like run a brush through and that's about it or i put it up in a bun again like these are things that, like i feel like, are so important to Hear from my clients, because i think sometimes as a hairdresser, we think that a lot of things are very intuitive and obviously this is my passion, and this is something that i read about and learn about constantly. So it's obvious that i know what to do and i can't expect clients to to think that way. So my tip here is even on days you're, not washing your hair. I still go in with a blow dryer and a round brush, and i just do like two to three sections on top kid. You not sometimes that's all. I need it just refreshes the roots and then from there. It'S say you waved your hair the day before. If the waves are still there, you can just kind of brush the rest out and you should be good to go um. If you like, a more straight look or say you did have waves yesterday and today, you want a more straight look i'll go in with my straightener and just going through a few strands of hair. It just gives me that polished, look and again, yes, you're still putting some heat on the hair, but you're, putting probably less than a tenth than you would when you're doing a fresh blowout. So these little things i know it might sound excessive and who has time for that. But to me those like five to seven minutes of like revamping my hair can completely change my outlook for the day and my confidence and even my mood. So it might sound like a silly tip but you'd be surprised at how many people are not doing this step. So if you're, not, i highly recommend you try doing this and see i've had days where i wake up and it's like okay. This is really bad. Like i, i should just jump in the shower and start from scratch, and then i do my little trick with you know just blowing out the the top part, and i end up having a great hair day and that's happened multiple times so give it a try And also, let me know if, in the future, you would like to see a kind of like a revamp of like slept in hair, basically that next day, hair kind of routine. Let me know if you would like to see that in the comments and yeah. That is it for today. Thank you again for igk for sponsoring this video. I love working with brands that i just think are cool and amazing and where i've already been using them for years and i've worked with igk before you guys. Tara Fazio: Your hair honestly looks great with no extensions!

streamoconsciousness: I'd love to see a day 2+ refresh process. I only recently thought to briefly use my blow-dryer on day 2 and wasn't thrilled with the result.

Kelly Louise: Another tried and tested tip is to apply dry shampoo on clean dry hair BUT before bed. Oils forming when you sleep will be immediately zapped by the dry shampoo. Works 4 me

Rubi Potter: It is NOT a silly tip! Thank you! I was one of those people who didn’t know what to do the next day. And yes, I’d love a video about what to do the next day after a blow out ❤️.

Rochelle Ricks: Yes, day 2, 3, 4 + help is definitely a good topic to address! I am 56 years old and shampoo 1-2 times a week. 25 years ago I shampooed daily due to oily hair. I am no longer oily. There is definitely a learning curve to having good hair days without shampooing.

T M H: Sometimes hair that frizzes is actually wavy or textured hair begging for care.

Truthful22: YESSSS please do a day 2/3 of refreshing hair. Thank you!!

Sometimes on day 4 I will wash the front of my hair in the sink while I wash my face in the morning, then dry and I can get another day of hair down… I would LOVE a next day routine! Thanks

Marie St-Pierre: Thanks for the tips and all the info. Next we need a video on hot rollers and on how to place them to avoir crease !

I also have thyroid issues so my hair & everything is dry. I have a lot of breakage, dry, frizzy hair. What would work best for it or what can I do since my texture has changed so much? Thanks

Amethyst fire: Yes I would like to see you do your 2nd day hair routine.

Dolly De Leon: I just want to thank you so very much for your videos!! I love them!! Not only because of what you teach but because you really care !!

Plus even at over age 60 it is still very oily. I can’t stand the way it feels and I can smell the oil.

Estella Nowe: Yes please to 2nd day revival video

Frogenius W.: Yes, revamp video!! ♡

Marisol Gonzales: Thank you.

Tara Fazio: I’m interested in trying the IGK purple toning drops. Not sure that’s the exact name, but has anyone tried them? I also bought 3 packs of those IGK hair wipes. I’ve always used dryer sheets to take the static out of my fly aways and lay them flat. I found out IGK makes a hair wipe that is suppose to do the same, but is designed for the hair. They work, but they only keep my fly aways tamed down for a very short time.

Sabine Kreuz: Sylvia, you look wonderful without extensions. Sylvia, I also have a question: I suffer from Pollenallergie, so normally I should wash my hair every nigth, but that would rouine my hair and I do not have that time. Is there something you know what would help to get rid of the Pollen bevore I go to bed?

Grace Ahern: How do I do the course I love to be a hairdresser is 37 to old to start

Makeup By Allie Ann: Shacket!!! Where is it from?!

Grammy Girls: I’d love to see a video on what you do to revamp. Especially when you don’t have your extensions in. I’m in awe of your natural hair. The length really is perfect for you. You’re stunning. And boy do I need more tips on thinning hair and suggestions on if we should suggest colouring thinning hair on ladies that are truly struggling with hair loss. Maybe styling tips. Some ways to wear the hair that’s easy to do at home and will still look beautiful. I’d love to see a couple “bun” or messy bun tutorial types. It’s NOT commonly known how to make a fashionable messy bun. SOOOOO many people aren’t aware! Or how to use the bun makers. Thanks for sharing. I admire your natural beauty and your generosity in sharing your wisdom. Happy Mother’s Day

Sunny Day: I'm so sad I just wish I could get a good haircut but I keep getting a bad ones over and over and over again and I'm to blame for sure but the stylists are to blame as well unfortunately and I'm about ready to just shave it off I'm suffer with an OCD it's trichotillomania and it's too much for me I just want my hair the way it used to be full and beautiful now I'm miserable and it's not just hair I suffer with PTSD and autoimmune diseases they really take a toll on me it's another reason why I cut my hair I think and then check and recheck and recheck and cut and cut and it's not a lot but enough and then I get cut and it's a nightmare I'm so sick of it and it's consumed me it's EVIL.. I'm a Bob Girl for the most part and I have done a Bixie but never a short short pixie I like it full on the top and sides and for some reason so many stylists can not do Bob's right especially when you tell them you don't want layers or texturizing which to me is absolutely absurd it's an even cut for goodness sake why can't they do an even BOB...‍ I'm all about precision and I'm sorry but if the stylist doesn't section the hair right then they'll never get it right this I BELIEVE especially when your client has colicks they have truly gutted me out it's like I have no hair in the back of my head cuz they cut all the way up to occipital bone and then my side are jacked up to angled to much and heavy on one side and light on the other and my hair grows upwards at the cowlicks and so it feels like my hair is getting shorter when it's growing out needless to say I'm in tears all the time.. I'm just so upset this has consumed my life I've even gone to multiple salons only to have them mess it up even more it's like I'm cursed and I think I have the hardest head of hair to cut I have straight fine hair but a lot of it with colicks that can cause a ripple if the hair isn't cut right and it seems to never be cut right.... And the stylists I go to never seem to get how to evenly distribute the hair so I wind up with uneven hair cuts to heavy on one side and barely hair on the other side I'm ready to just give up on my hair and just wear my WIGS forever and then this EVIL mental disorder WINS and the hairstylists that KEEP messing it up as well WIN .. I'm so done with hair thank you so much for listening you are truly blessed..

Nancy Hagan: Sylvia. How am I just now knowing this!!!

Lucia Moreno: Much much much better without extensions!!!! Natural always best

Donald Harris: Good morning♥️♥️♥️
