Foreign, quite scary, intro. This has nothing to do with Halloween, but it does have a lot to do with your curly hair. How on Earth are we supposed to maintain our curls throughout the week without having to wash them all the time, because nobody's got time for that? This video is going to be part of my wider series, curly hair 101, where we get back to the basics of curly hair, I'm not a hair professional, I'm not qualified in hair, but I do have curly hair myself, of course, and I have brought my hair Back from serious damage and I've learned a lot along the way, if you want a video specifically on that, I do have one on that already so go to this video you see at the top, and this will give you a thorough explanation on what I did To bring my curls back, this is going to be episode, one of curly hair 101. My series refreshing, I think we are all collectively just sick of having to just shove our hair in a bun. Don'T get me wrong. I do love a good bun. I do love a good bun, but I don't want my hair to be like this all the time. I want options. So if you want options, keep watching the rest of this video, we all have different heads of hair and we don't all need the same refresh. It'S a matter of looking at your hair on that day on that morning and working out. What do I need right now? Is my hair feeling really overly soft and not holding the curl? Is my hair feeling overly dry and really crying for some moisture? Is my hair feeling frizzy? Is my hair feeling limp flat and like no volume at all, what is it that you are experiencing and wanting to actually rejuvenate? And then you can decide what form of refresh you go for without seeing you in person and feeling or looking at your hair. It'S going to be really difficult for me to understand exactly what you need, but I am going to talk through what you most likely need based on how your hair feels. So your hair is feeling overly dry. There is a high chance. You need some moisture. Obviously, there's a lot of different reasons why your hair could be dry like your hair could be very damaged. It could be just because we're in the winter months, you could have some protein overload. There are many causes, but for the most part, if your hair is overly dry, you most likely need moisture so like a curl cream or a leave-in conditioner as part of your refresh. If your hair is feeling overly soft, there is a high chance. Your hair is also dropping the curl or feeling very limp and lacking volume, so you most likely need some sort of grit or Texture or product. That'S going to give you some hold. These sorts of products could be volume, Foams or mousses, or your favorite gel, where you're just putting in your hand and spritzing it with some water and glazing it over your hair, and if your hair is feeling quite greasy, the most obvious solution I can think of Is a dry shampoo or something to absorb that grease, and if it's beyond repair at this point - and you just need a quick fix but no product is working, then opt for a hairstyle. What products and what method do we use? There are products out there that market themselves as actual Refreshers in a bottle I'll share with you, some of my favorites. So we have the Umberto giannini curl jelly refreshing spray and we have the Amica Power Hour. Curl refreshing spray. These specific products are marketed. As you know, a one and done just use this or just use this they're, both quite different, the Umberto giannini curl, refreshing spray. If I spray that into my hand, this feels this is starting to feel a little bit like tacky like a tiny bit, sticky, meaning this is almost acting like a gel or something that's going to add texture and grip back into your hair. So a product like this is the sort of thing you would want to use when you are lucky hold or the grit, your hair is falling soft flat. This is the kind of thing that you would want to use. The Amica curl refreshing spray, however, is very light, but this one is like quite soft. It'S moisturizing this feels more like a leave-in, conditioner, curl cream type product. This is the sort of product you would want to use if your hair is feeling overly dry. To add that moisture back into your hair, for your refresh so before just going and purchasing a refresh spray, just because it says refresh actually look into the ingredients a little bit and have a look at what are they saying that they offer? Are they offering definition back into your hair? Are they offering moisture back into your hair? What are these products doing, and please note what I'm telling you is just an indication. Everyone'S hair is very different. You may find that the refresh products were perfectly well on your hair, whether it's Dry, soft frizzy or anything in between the main message here is that you're understanding, the type of refresh you need and that you're paying attention to the ingredients and description on the bottle And matching it up with your hair needs. Now, if you don't want to go out there and buy a refresh product you don't have to, you can most likely use what you already have so have a look at your favorite products, the products you perhaps used on your previous wash day and let's see what We can do with them if your hair is feeling overly soft lacking hold needs a bit of grit a bit of texture. I would take the gel that you use on wash day put a little bit in your hands depending on the amount of hair. You have. What this is going to do is dilute the product a little bit and it's going to be easier to distribute and you can just sort of smooth it over the hair, like that. It'S scrunch it in and dry it, and if your hair is feeling overly dry and a bit brittle, you can go and use your leave-in conditioner or curl cream. You use in your previous routine and if it's really thick, you can water it down a little bit mix it in your hands and do what I did with the gel or if you have a very lightweight leave-in conditioner spray, something like this, then you could just Simply spray that all over with water or without, if your hair is lacking volume and it's just feeling very flat - I just use a volume, foam or volume mousse to add some texture and volume back into your roots. You could just use this on dry hair. I have done before, but if you want to use it with a bit of water, you can as well. It will just take longer to dry if your hair is lacking shine and is looking, maybe a bit dull for a quick fix. You can just put some oil into your hair or a shine spray. This is one of my favorites and very easy to use. It'S the Amica top gloss shine spray, just spraying that all over once I've already done one of my Refreshers and then putting this on at the end, if my hair's looking extra dull or using an oil or a serum to kind of seal that moisture back in This is also obviously going to add that shine, but also protect your hair when you're about to go outside, as you may or may not know, not all products work with other products. So, for example, if you use specific products on your wash day and then refresh with totally different products, there is a chance that these products might not mix a good way to do. It is to actually put them in your hands and mix them together. So a tiny bit of the spray from your wash day, the tiny bit the refresh spray mix them together. If your product mixture starts to like bubble up and go a bit like bitty, then you know that that's going to happen on your hair and that's going to cause a lot of product. Um residue may not have heard that steam is a brilliant way to refresh your curly hair quickly. It doesn't work for everyone, but it is worth trying. You can actually go and buy a steamer like a facial steamer or like a clothes, steamer and use that or you could simply after your shower. Once it's turned off stand in your bathroom with your hair, you know just out and let it absorb the Steam, and you might see that your hair does start springing up a little bit. This is one of my favorite ways to refresh foreign. Let'S talk about tailoring our refresh to different parts of our head, you might have parts of your hair. I have this that your curls drop in those areas first, before all the other curls these bits near my ear. They just drop so quickly, and I think it's because I put them behind my ears a lot and I sort of play with my hair and I'm doing this and like stretching it up. So these parts you may want to tailor - and you might want to just use a refresh spray, for example, on the rest of your hair, and then you might want to actually completely wet these parts down and almost wash these bits of hair. But obviously that's going to take way less time than washing your whole head of hair. So this is future me with refreshed hair and it's looking so much better, so much bounce as you can see, it feels softer less dry.
