This is what my hair looked like two years ago. I had recently gotten my hair permanently straightened in Vietnam and The Roots were starting to grow out, and you can see how different the texture of my roots in the bottom of my hair was now. It was a very weird time, but when 19 happened we all stayed at home and I was going through something very personal, but anyway that was the start of my self-love Journey learning how to care for my hair - and so I remember when my hair, like grew Out and I was like you know what, since we're all at home, I'm going to learn how to care for it. I remember going on YouTube and I would see people's hair journey and a lot of their hair looked like mine in the beginning, where it's poofy and Frizzy, and then they transformed it into this gorgeous curls and waves. I remember showing it to my now fiance Kyle and I will show them do you think my hair can be like that and he would look at me very questionably and be like um. I don't know for fear of saying something wrong. It'S also because the stereotype that most Asians have straight hair. So not a lot of people know that Asians could have you know beautiful waves and curls, and now that we're in 20 22 I've seen a lot of people have it. But before I did not see a lot of people have it and when I would search on YouTube and things like that, I didn't see any Asian person with wavy hair like mine. I was very curious, so I kept researching and try different things. Two years. Almost three years have passed, and this is what it looks like today: The Stereotype of all agents having straight hair. That is not true, even though I still get comments where people are like. Is that your actual hair? Does it look like that? Yes, it is, and it's really interesting to think about, because I think in our culture, not a lot of us were taught how to care for this type of hair. I'Ve learned so much and I'm excited to teach you how to care for your hair. When you are a beginner and you're trying to search up hair care routines, it can be very overwhelming. Today, I'm going to break all of that down five simple tips that I would do if I was getting started on my wavy hair Journey today, number one get a Moisturizing Conditioner and leave-in. That is the biggest game changer. If you have textured hair chances, are your hair is very, very thirsty and just naturally very dry, a moisturizing, conditioner and leave-in conditioner will do major changes to your hair. Trust me when I started my wavy hair care routine. Those were the two that I started with and just a conditioner alone. It really changed. My hair is when I started seeing my baby hairs curl up in a way my favorite one is shea moisture, so absolute must-have number two get a haircut or trim. If you see breakage or dead ends, preferably if you can find a curly hair stylist, I recommend going to them because they will understand your hair a lot more and give you the shape that you want. I have layers in my hair, so you can see that it helps with volume. Whenever I used to have one length of hair, my hair was too heavy, so it would be like puffy, but straight. You know what I mean. Number three reduce the use of heat, and I know that it can be very very hard, especially if you've used heat for a majority of your life. You don't have to totally get rid of it, but I would say if you're going to do a heat style, do it just once a week don't put heat in your hair every single day, because that's very damaging, also use heat protection. People say not avoid it completely and it's just a little bit too impossible like even when my hair is like this now I still get to enjoy blowout hairstyles, like I just did a blowout three days ago, and then now I washed it, and it still looks Really good number: four: there are two very very simple, wavy hair techniques that you can add into your routine right now, so after you get out of the shower and your hair is soaking wet, add in your leave-in conditioner after that brush your hair, preferably with a Denman brush, but if you don't have that it's totally fine use whatever you have once you brush it out, use a t-shirt towel or a microfiber towel gently slunch, your hair scrunching. Your hair will encourage the whey powder, but the more you do this, the more you will see your hair, get more defined and really set into that pattern that it was meant to be another thing to really encourage. It is to do the plopping method. That'S where you put all of your hair down into a t-shirt number five. You want to watch a lot of people's wavy hair care routine. I think hair is really really unique, so one hair care routine isn't going to fit everybody. Once you watch a lot of people's, you can and kind of find people who you relate to and then see what products they're using for that specific need. And then you can use that same thing and then create your own, unique, hair care routine. So, if you're watching my videos, how I would describe my hair is it's very dense, which is, I have a lot of hair, it's thick, naturally very, very coarse and rough and dry. It'S not like that. Now, it's very soft. If you want to watch my full hair care routine, I have a video up that you can check out here.

Rossette: Great tips! I can definitely relate to you with being Asian and having wavy hair. I just started to embrace my waves this year and now I’m in love with it. I still have a long way to go to get my hair back to a healthy state, but very happy with the progress so far. Thank you for sharing your journey!

May Saetern: Love these tips! Having a moisturizing conditioner and leave in changed the game. I’m also Asian with 2a-2c waves. I started my wavy journey fall 2021 and committed to a wavy routine for one year. I just hit it and my hair has never looked and felt better! The wavy journey really taught me how to care for my hair with deep conditioners to how I comb my hair to protective styles. It’s wild how culturally we were kept from this wonderful side. Thanks for sharing your journey! I love seeing your natural hair journey and content. ❤

Sarah 仁子: I’m mixed but my hair is like yours! I’ve always straightened my hair but you make me want to try going natural!

AddiTank: Love your wavy hair videos so much. It’s so hard to find people with the same texture and I’m so grateful that I found you!!

Dara Aguiar: are great tips! and apart from the plopping one (which I only recommend for those people with wavy or slightly curly hair, as it can cause a lot of frizz), the rest is equally suitable for everyone. Enjoy!!

Lucy Ma: So glad you made this, I have curls near my roots and my hair is always out of control. I’m def gonna try this

Pranathi🌙: Great tips Can you please do video on how to maintain the curls until next hair wash , cause I'm a beginner, and should I braid hair or not ?

Ayanna Banana's Artwork : This is super helpful ❤

Rebecca Hansson: My problem is that my hair is curly/wavy when it’s wet and once it starts to dry it slowly loses the curls. Blow dry, air dry, gel, no gel etc, does not matter. Also when I use curly hair products my hair becomes frizzy once it’s dry. Let’s just say that I’m lost af

Charlotte Pearson: hey can you do a video on how you straighten your curly hair? whenever I want to straighten my hair it always ends up poofy and takes hours to get it straight

lavinia: Hi, thank you so much for the tips but I have a question so my hair looks like yours when I get out of the shower and stays curly for maybe 3 hours? But then it just becomes straight I wonder if you know the reason or some tips to help me.

Christine: Thanks for sharing this!!! :)

iloveyou: i’m half asian and i have waves but yes i agree people don’t know that asians can have curls and waves <3
