Today, we're going over fine hair tips to help you avoid damage, add volume and go longer between washes. If you have fine hair, you need to be super careful about the products that you pick if they aren't a good match for fine hair they're, going to throw your entire routine off, and you won't be able to make any progress here in my salon. We test out every new product from the major brands we get super excited whenever a new one comes out a lot of the time. My stylists want to try them out on themselves and for the ones with fine hair. Sometimes that's an absolute disaster. When this Amica product first came out, we were excited and tried it right away, you're supposed to be able to put it on your hair, leave it on overnight, and while you sleep it perfects your hair. It makes it look amazing for when you wake up in the morning, one of my fine haired stylists took this home. The first day tried it out on yourself and when she came in the next morning she was like you can have this back. She usually goes three to four days between washes, which is really good for fine hair. That'S right where you want to be, but with this she had to wash her hair on the first day, because it was so greasy and heavy, and when you have to wash on the first day, you can't really get a good hair routine, going because you're constantly Traumatizing, your hair by adding product stripping it out adding product stripping it out your hair, never has a chance to recover. The moral of this story is the one heavy product will ruin your entire hair routine, even if you're doing everything else completely perfectly. So if you're, one of those people stuck washing every day and you're like oh, I could never go days between washes. My hair would get so gross, there's a good chance that you're using a product, that's too heavy and throwing everything off. So how do you figure out if one of the products that you're using is way too heavy for your hair? I'M glad you asked: let's go into it. You are going to perform what I have cleverly named and I'm really proud of this. The heavy product test, the way that you're going to do this is to do your exact, normal hair, routine, except you're, going to leave out one product doesn't matter which product just leave out one product over the next 24 hours, you're going to keep an eye on Your hair to see if it feels fresher and lighter and if you're able to go an extra day or two between washes and if it does stay, fresher and cleaner and you're able to extend your wash out they're going to take that product stop using it completely. Stop using it now, what you're going to do instead is replace that with a lighter version, and the problem here is: how do you know which one's a lighter version, and how do you know if that version's better than what you're using right now to figure that Out you'd have to buy, buy and test a whole bunch of products and, honestly, who has time for that? The answer is that I do I have time for that, because I own a salon and I love testing hair products. I actually keep a running list of the best hair products in each category for each hair type. I call it my recommended product list and you can easily get it in the description of this video all right, so long story short you're, going to do this heavy product test for each one of your products, you're going to replace all the ones that were too Heavy for you that way, you can have healthy hair because you aren't stripping it of the natural healthy oil by washing it every day. Another common problem with fine hair is that it wants to be limp and flat instead of having all this body and movement to it, and that's actually not that big of a deal because we can easily fix it. The first step towards getting lasting volume is understanding how volume actually works. You'Ll see a lot of videos where they're flashing tools and flashing products and volume, this volume that, but they never actually take the time to explain it in a way that makes sense. So you can recreate it. Here'S how it works. Volume comes from the way the hair lays on top of itself when the hair is really straight, like this paper is straight right. Now, there's no height or volume it's just flat, but when I crinkle these papers, like this, all of a sudden they're not laying flat anymore and that's when you get the height and the volume and your hair is the exact same way. All we have to do is figure out a way to Crick through your hair, the way we did with the paper and then we'll get plenty of volume and body. It turns out that the hair equivalent of crinkly paper is actually getting your hair to be frizzy. When hair is Frizzy, it Stacks high on top of itself instead of being flat, and that gives you height and volume and we typically think of frizz as a bad thing, and it is, but for fine hair that usually has a pretty straight texture, which is why It lays so flat it can actually be a decent way to get volume. I would never recommend this for most hair types, but for fine hair, that's straight and struggles to get volume. I would recommend that you use a blow dry brush without ions when you're doing your hair. It'S an easy way to introduce just a little bit of frizz, not too much, which gives you extra volume for most hair types. Ions are absolutely amazing because they make the hair come out, super straight super sleek and super shiny, but if you struggle to get volume you already naturally have that. So this is a really good option for you. It'S totally fine to use a cheap blow dry brush like the Revlon, because you don't need the top of the line that has the ions, but you are going to need something else. Getting lasting volume requires products trying to get volume to last without products like skydiving. Without a parachute, my favorite category of volume products is actually a root lifter, because it's almost like you're cheating, let me show you how it works. Instead of making the hair frizzy, they actually coat the roots with an invisible barrier that creates space between the hairs and that's what gives you the volume you can kind of see this in the paper example here, the hair is still straight. Just like the paper is still straight, but the root lifter puts little gaps between the hairs, which gives it much more volume. This gives you the best of both worlds. You don't have to go crazy. Frizzy. You can just do a little bit of frizz with your blow dry brush from not having ions put the root Lifter on, and then the hair is nice and sleek and shiny and straight here's how you can use it in less than 30 seconds. The goal is to coat The Roots of your hair, all around the crown, which is this top part right here, and you want to remember that you don't want to get it all over your hair. You only want it on the roots of your crown up here. The best way to do that is to almost do a whole bunch of mini Parts in your hair. When you start on one side, pull it apart, spray, the roots there after you get that go over a little bit, create another mini part spray that you're going to keep doing that all the way across your crown. Until you get to the other side of your head, so all the roots are coated and just a quick note, if you're not used to styling like this and using these types of products, the first couple times you do this, it's going to come out absolutely terribly And that's totally okay! I want you to think back to the first time that you ever walked. You may not remember, but I'm gon na guess you probably weren't that good at it it took you a couple tries and then you got good and now you're amazing. So I want you to remember, go easier on yourself. If the first time you only get a little bit of volume as you do it over and over you'll get more volume and more volume and it'll look better and better. Styling is a skill. It'S totally fine for it to take time all right, so that gives you plenty of volume up top and that's great. But if you have fine hair, it's not enough just to have volume up top. You want movement and body all the way down your hair on the length of your hair too, and if you air dry, there's really no way around that. That'S why I recommend people with fine hair style, their hair with heat. It breaks my heart that there's so many people out there like. No, I can't use heat in my hair. I need to protect it and keep it safe. So it looks good one day, but that's not the way you should be looking at this there's no magical thing: that's going to come along and transform your hair, it's almost like being that Mom who won't let her kids go outside and play because she's afraid that The World's Gon na Hurt them or damage them, don't be that weird mom unlock the door and let your hair come out and play, and the only way to really do that is to use heat and to learn how to use heat safely. Heat is completely safe for your hair. If you know a couple basic things: I'm not acting. I'M begging, begging you to please give this a shot. I have a tutorial right up here, give it a chance alright, so we talked about volume on top and then we talked about body and movement on the bottom. Let me show you which products are best to get that one of the best on the planet. One of my favorites is redken's Big blowout. What this does is it's going to fluff up your hair, almost like a pillow to give it more body and volume, so it looks bigger than it actually is, but without any frizz a lot of people like to overuse this and for fine hair. That'S a really bad thing to do. Like we said, fine hair is very sensitive to products. So all that you're going to do is take a little bit of this. Put a pea sized amount in your palm, rub it together and start working it up from your ends. Up to your mids from there. All you have to do is use a wet brush to brush it through your hair, apply it evenly. Detangles, your hair as well, and then you're ready for your blow dryer or blow dry brush, but you need to use the right amount of heat. It'S important to understand the different hair types need different amounts of heat. Coarse frizzy hair needs a ton of heat to make it behave, but firing hair is typically relatively straight and you don't need to go crazy, the heat. So when you're using your blow dryer or your blow dry brush, you don't need to use the hottest heat setting. Yes, it will save you time, but it's not really necessary if you're not super experienced, don't use the highest heat setting and when it comes to irons. You also don't need to use that much heat. I would recommend for something like this go 375 to 400. Yes, that's a little bit higher than most people say, but remember your hair, probably struggles to hold the curl so 375 to 400 is perfect for fine hair. Just make sure you don't leave it on your hair for more than six seconds and if you're, one of my fine hair people who really struggles to hold a curl, it's too much for this video, but I have an entire tutorial right up here, check it out. It'S pretty cool and please, whatever you do remember, to use a heat. Protectant fine hair tends to be a little bit more on the delicate side, so you must use a heat protectant. Really everybody should, but fine hair is especially prone to heat damage. You might think I don't want another product weighing my hair down, but you should really rethink that because number one, if you don't use it you're, not going to have any hair left to even way down in the first place and second of all key protectants have Come a really long way over the years, heat protects and scare a lot of people because they think of it like Hairspray, and they think it's going to be sticky and gooey and producty. But these water-based ones today are absolutely amazing. 100, weightless and you'll never know. They'Re in your hair, as long as you use the right amount and on top of just protecting your hair, they're heat activated to add a shiny layer on the outside, so your hair looks healthier and whatever style you use. This for the style is going to last longer because it has hold you're, really mistreating your hair, if you're using an iron without one of these, I am not asking I'm begging, begging. You please use this. If you were using an iron on your hair, oil is an absolutely central part of hair care. It takes your hair, especially your ends to a completely different level, but, like we said, fine hair is extremely sensitive and you need to watch out how you use it. If you use too much you're going to get this grease bucket effect, where your hair looks like it's actually wet, even though it's not people are going to ask like oh did you just wash your hair, so let me show you how I apply oil to fine Hair - and the first thing that you need to understand is that all oil is not the same. You need to use a light formulation, otherwise it's going to weigh your hair down and make it limp and go against all that volume that we got you. This Moroccan oil is actually way too heavy and you're going to lose. If you use this, moroccano actually has a light version. This is a lighter version of the same thing way too heavy don't use a sealer. Instead, you want to use something like my favorite oplex 7 bonding oil, because it's so much lighter it's so much more forgiving. It'Ll give you much better results. One thing I recommend, especially for fine hair, is to only use this on dry hair if you use it on wet hair. It'S really hard to tell what's oil and what's water, makes it really easy to use too much so instead we're going to use this on dry hair. Hopefully you just blow dried. It like we went over in the last section and you're only going to take like one or two Taps. That'S really all you need you're, then going to spread it in your palms and start running it over your ends and they're, going to start getting shiny and drinking that oil right up and when all you have left is a tiny little film of oil on your Hands then you can start running it over your mids, but no matter what you do under no circumstances. Do you ever put it on the top of your head. That'S going to make your hair Wilt and melt like the wizard Witch of the West. If you're picking out hair products, especially shampoos and conditioners - and you see the words moisturizing or hydrating - really big on the label, I want you to run the other way and do not buy that product products with those labels. Are the heaviest possible formulations they're going to mess everything up for you, they're, going to weigh your hair down? You do not want that. Instead, a much better idea is to look for shampoos and conditioners that say volumizing on them really big on the label. But one thing I want you to keep in mind is that volumizing shampoos and conditioners do not actually create volume. They do not style your hair, for you, volume formulations are just meant to be very, very light and that allows you to get volume. So that way, when you style your hair, you don't have a heavy conditioner, pulling everything down, ruining your volume. So if you're struggling to keep your hair, hydrated and moisturized there's really only three products, you should be looking for to do that. Number one is the conditioner duh number two is a hair mask and number three is a leave-in conditioners. Those are the only three products that you need to have super hydrated hair. So now you know that you're supposed to go days between washes, but what you're probably going to notice is your style only lasts you for one day and so on day, two you're gon na look and say hey. I need to touch up my hair with some heat. Whatever you do, please do not do that if you use heat to touch up your hair, all the time you're going to cause damage instead, what you want to do is get your style to last for days. Instead of touching it up all the time, it's easier on your hair and it's much easier on you and that's really hard to do for fine hair, because fine hair tends to lose a style. The quickest so there's two times a day that you really need to protect your style. Here'S how it's done the absolute most dangerous time for your style is when you're taking a shower. It sounds kind of weird, but if you think about it, there's a lot of humidity even with cold water and water is splashing off your shoulders and stuff up into your hair, destroying your style. There'S a cheap, simple, easy solution for this, and it's called a terry cloth shower cap. It'S like eight dollars on Amazon super easy. Any brand will work just make sure it has a terry cloth lining instead of a plastic lining the second most dangerous time for your hair is when you're going to sleep and you toss and turn and roll all over it. Usually, I just tell people to tie their hair up in a bun with like a scrunchie or something loose like that, but fine hair needs more than that. There'S another really cheap solution here. All you have to do is go on Amazon and get a silk Bonnet to protect your hair. Super easy doesn't need to be expensive. Sleep with it makes life much easier, alright, so that is your crash course for taking care of fine hair. Remember again, that's really important. You match your products to your hair type for fine hair. That applies more than any other hair type. If you want to do that, it's really easy check out my recommended product list in the description have a good one guys thanks

Blowout Professor: My Recommended Product List -> https://blowoutprofessor.tiny.us/2p853etf

Blair Kosela: Chris, I can't thank you enough for your advice. I purchased your recommended products for hair trinity routine and you saved my hair's life. I'll use the redken volume shampoo/conditioner in the shower with the occasional dose of clarifying shampoo first for when a deep clean is needed. Then I'll spray the pureology leave in formula and gently brush through. Recently I bought the big blowout gel and I'll brush that in next right before blow drying. It just took it to the next level even more. I finish with only a little bit of the #7 bonding oil on the ends. I can tell that bottle will last me a long time. It is my choice to forego the blow dry brush or style because I work remote and there's no point if I'm not going anywhere much. I hardly ever use my straightener anymore. Plus I simply prefer my hair out of my face by using one of those phone cord hair ties or a claw clip. For anyone reading this, it may seem time consuming but it really isn't when your products are actually right for you. My brush now pretty much runs right through the hair and basic things don't waste time anymore. Also, I consider myself a minimalist and I don't like a ton of things on my counters. I love that each of your recommendations actually has a purpose. With that all summing up the happy ending, before I found your videos I was beyond discouraged. I had invested in the Aveda shampoos for a couple of years. While at first it helped with obvious dryness, overtime it would be a nightmare rinsing it out. I was very uncomfortable and I felt like it was permanently stuck to my head. Additionally I had a scary amount of hair shedding occurring. By getting rid of my Aveda stuff and adopting your suggestions, I was able to confidently schedule an appointment with my new stylist and take a much needed break from being blonde. The switch never would have been surprisingly good if not for you. I am exceptionally grateful. Thanks again.

dldl: The silk bonnet has made such a difference to the hydration in the ends of my hair when I wake up on days 2 and 3. Sure the roots are oily, so I definitely need dry shampoo but the ends used to always be frizzy and lose the waves I’d produced so neatly with my flat iron on day one. What I usually do is: day 1 wear my hair completely down and wave it with heat, Day 2 wear it half up half down and use dry shampoo, day 3 wear it completely up in a pony or bun again with dry shampoo and sometimes hair spray to tame the baby hairs. It feels sooo good to wash it the following day and start day 1 again with clean roots. I’m hoping my scalp will start to get used to this new routine and I won’t get so oily but I guess it’s something us fine hair girls have to put up with. I get oily on my tzone of my face too and it’s helped with keeping my skin youthful and looking younger than 35 so it’s pros and cons to everything!

AliceintheRabbitHole: I love so much that you encourage us to push through that first “not cute” style. It’s easy to feel discouraged, but you’re right: practice makes perfect!!

Marisa Scifres: Chris, I have been following you for about 3 weeks now. I purchased the hair products you recommended for fine hair, even the wet brush and the difference in my hair is amazing. I went from dull and frizzy to sleek and shiny. My hair takes forever to get oily, so I only wash 2 times per week. I have lost a tremendous amount of hair in the past 1.5 years due to excessive shedding (most likely stress) and I am hoping by doing what you recommend, it slows up. My question for you is: What about women like me that wear their hair up in a ponytail or clip the majority of the time? I work in the medical field. I have hair past my shoulders and tie or clip it up 90% of the time. Is there anything special we need to do to make sure we are not damaging our hair with ties to clips?

Skeeli: Thanks so much for your advice Chris! After one day of following your advice , my hair has changed soooo much! It's "fine", "relaxed", "African-american", "ombre blond" hair! I would never in a million years have thought that your advice would apply to my hair type! A million thanks! Looking forward to my fabulous February hair thanks to you!

AMO: You have literally saved my hair!!!! Ever since the trinity method my hair has never looked better!!! This fine hair girl is getting volumizing shampoo and conditioner ASAP; thank you Chris, you're THE best!!!

Hannah Haugen: Thank you for these tips! I also wanted to say that your other videos have been incredibly helpful; both my mom and I have completely revolutionized our hair routines, and can now understand WHY certain things happen with our hair, when it was a complete mystery before, and what to do about it.

Lau L: I am nearing the end of a 5-year flare up of alopecia, and your tips have made a spectacular difference on the health, look and feel of my shoulder-length hair. Soooo grateful for this miracle. I always say my success is 60% having found a good dermatologist and 40% the Professor . My main challenge is that I got paranoid about chemicals, fearing that they might have been the cause of my hairloss. You and my dermatologist really helped me gain confidence again that (a) What happens in your blood, immune system and scalp is not the same as styling the dead part of the hair (b) I don’t need to buy the 250$ miracle hairloss product and the crazy expensive vitamins, but instead a targeted blood test and suitable prescription from a dermatologist (c) I don’t need to chop off the limp ends during regrowth because bad hairdressers tell me « it will help with hairloss ». All I needed was a reasoned, expert view on how to find the right routine with simple, quality products. Your channel did just that. And oh: all products smell fantastic! I can never thank you enough for speaking honestly and sharing your expertise

meg lily: Hi Chris, I’d love to ask if we could get a hair care routine for swimmers? I know that chlorine can be damaging to the hair but sometimes a swimming cap can’t always be 100% effective or used

SuzL: Awesome information!! I am 74, and have Lupus etc. My hair used to be thick, but now it's super thin, loosing hair esp at my hairline on my forehead. I have spent SOOO much money trying everything, and nothing helps.Your information is what I've needed to hear and products I need to try. I can't thank you enough!! And thanks for the Written information-you're a blessing!

MissDuke2012: I found your channel two weeks ago and have watched ALL of your videos. You have a gift. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. You understand hair and make it so easy to understand. And fun! For 33 years, I’ve been desperate to find a solution to my crappy hair. Hairstylists never show off my hair on their social media :( and yet I try and try and have spent plenty of money at their salons doing exactly what they told me! :( Thank goodness for you. I’m so excited for wash day to practice my Blowout Professor hair routine. My hair is looking GOOD. (Currently chilling on the couch with my Olaplex 3 in!) I am confident with my hair for the first time in my life. Hair day is no longer a “gamble.” People can really look down on you sometimes if your hair is damaged. They’ll unconsciously infer negative connotation with you - like you don’t take care of yourself or maybe some even deeper is wrong with you :(. Wellllll, thanks to YOU, Chris, that is no more. Here’s a big hug from central NC. ❤‍♀️

Katrina Kerr: I did your leave out technique with the big blow out, even tried less and it still made my hair greasy within 2 days where normally I can go 3-4 days with your routine :)

Karlee read: Your videos always help me up my hair game. I’d love to see a video all about split ends! Myths, advice, possibly best products and methods for prevent them specifically. I know following your advice generally probably prevents them but knowing specifics would be great! Currently trying to grow my hair to my waist! Those are my biggest culprit

Levi: Hey professor B, could you please, please, PLEASE do a vid on hygral fatigue! My hair had been struggling even though I’m using really nourishing and hydrating products and I can’t find out if it’s bc my hair is taking its sweet time to heal from dehydration or if it’s actually over hydrated . Thanks for all your vids! ❤

Hallie McLean: hey chris! i have fine hair and i’ve always had to wash my hair everyday. i’ve started using redken volume shampoo and double washing as you recommended but my hair still gets oily pretty much immediately. i also just got the olaplex oil and the ouai leave in conditioner. i don’t think the products i’m using are the problem as this happens even when i don’t use anything other than shampoo and conditioner in the shower. i’m not sure if i’m doing anything wrong or if it’s just how my hair is. any suggestions?

Shawna Somers: The Revlon drying brush has been a game changer for me! I have very fine frizzy hair. I use smoothing products also. Most times I don’t need to use a flat iron after drying. Use the Moroccan oil heat protectant as well.

Rach: Chris, I can't thank you enough for this video. I finally understand what I've been doing wrong all these years

Disaster Fan: This is great advice. One contention, though: I have fine hair and I get amazing body and volume when I let my hair air-dry. If I try to heat style it, it looks good initially, but falls flat within an hour. Air-drying can be the right choice for fine hair.

BethAnn Fischberg: Chris, awesome video! I’ve been taking your advice and seeing great progress. Only thing as another person commented, there is no way I can’t touch up my bangs a bit in morning. I’ve been spraying with a bit of Pureology and reshaping with blow dryer. As you know, this is the most vulnerable part of hair to damage and I’m trying to be super careful. Do you thing what I’m doing is okay, or what do you suggest?

Lea Hren Strah: Hello Chris, what do you think about KMS leave-in-conditioner? Pureology one is not available in my country… Apart from that I am using almost everything else you are suggesting (I have naturally blonde fine hair): - Olaplex 0 and 3 every 2-3 weeks since my hair is so much better at the moment - Redken Acid bonding shampoo and conditioner or Redken Volume injection shammpo+conditioner - KMS leave-in - Hair oil I am also sleeping with silk bonnet. I must say that condition of my hair has drastically improved in the last 4 months since I first found out your channel. Thank you for all your advice!!

Polite Reminder:: Me, and my 4C Afro watching this like it applies to me. Love your content. It's a nice way to get an education. I enjoy hair science, even when it doesn't apply to me.

Yeri: Hey professor! I've been following your advice and products for a while and I can definitely see the difference! I have coarse hair type. However I'm still getting some breakage. Would I benefit from Olaplex if I've never dyed or bleached my hair?

Caroline Thompson: I have all these products and have been using them for a few months now. My hair has never looked better! I decided last month to chop my damaged ends off and start from scratch using all of these products and it’s made a huge difference! I am so much happier with my hair now

Denise A.: Thank you so much for all your tips, especially for fine hair!! Since starting your trinity system, I noticed a big difference in my fine, frizzy hair in high humidity Okinawa. I couldn't easily get your recommended volume products here so I bought some volumizing/amplifying products from Biolage and Bumble & Bumble, and unfortunately they both caused a lot of breakage in my hair, so now I'm dealing with the damage from that. I am hopeful though that eventually my hair will look good again now that I have this knowledge. Thanks again!!

Nicole: Your content gets better and better! Keep it up! Also, thank you for putting so much effort in your work! It means a lot to me, and perhaps to all of us who want to care for our hair correctly! You are amazing!

notahamster: So true. Fine hair is a lot more susceptible to breakage because of the diameter of each hair as well. I have fine hair and no issues with the light Moroccan oil. But I use it sparingly on my ends when needed. I noticed the Olaplex 7 would sometimes leave my ends feeling like straw. So I like to switch it up. Also, there are microfiber and silk lined shower caps that are nicer to the cuticle of the hair than terry cloth. Sally Beauty used to carry satin lined shower caps for those on a budget. I always look forward to your new content! Keep up the great work!

Megan Maxey: I would love product recommendations for days 2 and 3 when I wake up and want to re-amp up my volume, even if just a little. I already do everything in the video and my hair has been sooooooo much better for it, but I still find that I want to add more volume to my hair without needing to use dry shampoo, especially on day 3.

Fab, Female and over Forty: Hi Chis! First I would like to thank you for your content, so useful!! I have some question about using products with alcohol, since you mentioned root lifters. Do you recommend products with alcohol, and if so, what is the best way to apply/use them? My hair dries out horribly with products with alcohol, but I could use a root lifter for a bit of volume. I tried the Redken Big Blowout, and Pureology leave in conditioner combination, but it left my hair just full of static. Thank you again!

Kera Lindsay: I'd love a video on how to avoid dry scalp. I have it pretty bad, and it just seems to get worse the longer I go without washing it. Also, I have very fine thin hair that tends to look greasy after not washing it for a day.

Michelle Romz: Chris, what would you recommend for someone with super fine hair, who lost about 60% of my hair from being in the ICU for 2 seeks with covid pneumonia, sepsis, and ARDS. I have about 4” of outgrowth, but it seems to have stalled out. I want to protect my regrowth….but the regrowth is curly and the hair that didnt fall out is stick straight!!

Candi Mayes: I started using the olaplex oil in my fine hair after watching one of your videos & it had made a big, positive difference for my hair. Thank you!! ❤️

Nadiia Bodnarchuk: Chris, thank you for your advice, finally I have a healthy hair and now I feel more confident!! Using all the products from the recommended list for fine hair, and learning each time to find my perfect amount of product etc. thank you very much! Greetings from Ukraine

Diane V: I recently found your videos. Your suggestions for fine hair have really helped me a lot. I can’t believe how much better my hair looks. Thank you so much for doing your videos.

Suzanne Fisher: I have been waiting for this video my entire life! Fine, shoulder-length, oily hair here. I tried the heavy product test and removed Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Scalp Care Anti-Thinning Root Lift Foam. My roots felt better with it, actually. Without it my roots felt sticky to my scalp. Is this product similiar to the Kenra 13? My stylist recommended it, and then I discovered Chris's channel. I've never liked how my fine hair looks longer than shoulder length, it gets straggly and looks bad. Maybe I need to try heat styling with an iron. I have never experienced frizz, my hair probably has too much self-made oil. Love this channel so much! PS I'm in Pennsylvania, we get all 4 seasons.

Tiziana Comensoli Cuter: Thank you Chris, very inspiring as usual. May I ask you a styling routine for fine naturally curly hair? I am struggling for hold and shine.

MsAqua: Another amazing video chock block full of helpful and professional advice! I can’t tell you how much my hair has improved since following your hair care advice. Thank you from the bottom of my ends, up ❤

Michelle: I’ve been using the brand head & shoulders basically since i was a child, I got this from my mom since from her perspective its the only shampoo that actually works and doesn’t make her get dandruff - she has straight hair and I do not, I have a kind of wavy type of hair - The thing is that I’ve noticed the last couple of years that my hair is really itchy and weird but didn’t bother me until a couple of months ago… I started looking up on tiktok or whatever social media trying to find an actually good hair routine that could work for me instead of just guessing with every brand since taking care of yourself here in the USA is pretty expensive, plus I never tried any other brand besides the one that I mentioned before so it’s kind of scary getting out of your comfort zone, and social media isn’t really helping, but confusing me more with every video I watch because most of them tend to differ and I think that getting influenced by advices I’ll actually regret or I just don’t understand like using detox/clarifying shampoos could end up making my hair worst than it is now, so if you please could try making a video for all us people with oily itchy scalp and dry frizzy ends could be really helpful, thank you!

cherry-insomnia: The kerastase elixir line is wonderful for fine hair if it’s not excessively dry or oily! It’s made such a huge difference. I’m excited to implement more of these tips!

Vickie Harrington: I have a question about products. I have fine, thin, very dry, naturally wavy hair - curlier as I get older. I used the Redkin Volume Injection you recommended and it seemed to weigh my hair down. I had been using a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner from the drug store with honey in it. I read dry hair needs humectants such as honey. I absolutely loved the way it made my hair feel and look but one of your earlier videos said stay away from drug store shampoos and esp ones with things like food products - honey, avocado, etc. I also use the Pureology leave in and Redkin Big Blow Out as well as the heat protectant you recommended. So what would you recommend I use or do differently?

Cola P: I have fine hair that is very curly, frizzy, and tends to get dry on the ends. No problem with volume though. I wish you would do a video specifically for curly and damaged hair.

Susan Marie: Appreciate the info! I have fine, curl-resistant hair and I try to avoid heat as much as possible. So, I'll sometimes lightly mist my dry hair and set it in pin curls or use "bendy rollers" to get some curl. Would it work best to go ahead and blow-dry it first, then curl it using these heatless methods? Additionally, do you have any recommendations for a setting spray for heatless curls that won't feel crunchy?

lsmall1009: Hello! I switched all of my hair products to the ones recommended for course hair. I am African American mixed, the longest point of my hair is to the bottom of my back, however, with a combination of using substandard products coupled with heat damage my ends have split halfway up to the middle of my back. My ends do not tangle as you mentioned is an indication of needing a trim. My question is in your opinion based on the photo provided should I cut my hair where the yellow arrow points or should I allow the products time to stop the damaged and wait for my hair to catch up

angie blackman: Just found your channel .. and want to say you explain things so well! you have a very genuine presentation style that simplifies techniques and the types of products available .. I have learned a great deal from your tutorials .. thank you Chris!

Kamila C: Should you proceed to heat styling when your hair are still wet (after applying leavein cond and heat protection) or first you can dry them, apply oil on ends, then proceed to heat protection, "crown-volumising" and heat styling? Thanks !

Marion: Thanks you so much, Chris. Do you have any recommendations for curly hair (permed)? Or does the blow out cream also work there? Greetings from Germany Marion

Karen Seay: Hi Chris and thank you for another great video! I want to know if I need to wait for the heat protectant spray to dry before I use my curling iron? Thank you for the knowledge you share with all of us!

Lizzy Sunday: I got all the products you recommend, took notes on application and have washed and dried my hair a few times just like you taught. It looks amazing and has stayed so soft and is SO shiny. But I’m dealing with some itchy scalp- I’ve never had itchy scalp before. Thoughts? Could I just need a little time to get used to it?!

K E L K A Y: I love ALL of your advice and recommendations. It has changed my hair for the better! I am curious if you have any travel size recommendations of aerosol sprays for different hair types. I travel a lot with a carry-on and can't bring my bigger aerosol bottles. I couldn't bring my hair spray or dry shampoo on my last trip and it was so annoying. Thanks for everything you all do at your salon! Have a phenomenal day!

Natasha D: Would you recommend using both the blow dry serum and the thermal spray for heat protectant or is just one okay? They both offer heat protection up to 450 degrees.

Lindsay Ros: Question about root lifters… spray on dry hair or wet hair? Also will it make me need to wash my hair sooner? I have started doing the trinity routine (& olaplex 3 on wash days) and have been amazed at how good/non greasy my hair looks day two. Literally shook. I can go 4-5 days before washing again now, adding in dry shampoo day 3 and a head band to disguise greasy roots day 4/5. My hair is so fine and prone to damage so I want to maintain this routine. Thanks Chris, you’re amazing!

elnails323: Love watching all your videos! I would love to see a hair drying video for thin fine hair, mine is actually curly although I pull it straight. You usually show how to run products through long locks, even drying and curling irons.

Melissa Barrera: I absolutely appreciate ur advice I always had very thick long hair after having my kids my hair was not the same I lost so much I ended up cutting it so short it’s been forever and it hasn’t grown like before I’ve definitely seen improvement following ur advice thank u so much

Jessica Jane: Love! Love! Love this video!!!! Thank you Chris - so much great info for my fine hair!❤

madonnella: I’d love to know how you feel about Maria Nila products. I recently bought there eco renew shampoo and conditioner and loved how they made my hair feel and look. But it’s already pretty oily now on day two, even though it says it’s extra cleansing and for oily hair. I’d love some more recommendations for products by vegan and cruelity free brands.

helene creteur: Chris, thank you for all your advices that i follow religiously with success! One question: i am now able to wash my hair only 2 times a week, but on the third day, roots are ok, ends are mehh… is it possible to curl those hairs on the third day? I blowout the first day , keep them straight 2 days , and then, would like to curl them for 2 days before shampoo. Is it a good routine?

Little Bear: I've been sleeping with a heatless curl rod to maintain my style/curls for days. It's so good and gentle on the hair. You should try it out with your clients!

Sonia RM: Hello! I appreciate all your classes ! I’m learning every time! I’m waiting my Olaplex oil and and iron heat protectant to arrive… I’m fine hair, guess I will use this last one less after this video XD Waited for you to mention what you think in the light oil of Moroccan for fine hair vs. olaplex!❤

AngL: I have learned so much from you! I feel like this video was custom made for me...super fine, fragile, frizzy hair, even though I take really good care of it. Thank you!!

andrea mastrangelo: Your videos and product suggestions have been super helpful. I have fine hair and like to air dry. I use heat to dry for more special occasions and otherwise have found great success with satin pillow rollers. I let my hair semi dry and then put the pillow rollers just at the crown. They are comfortable and easy to wear while my hair fully drys. It gives nice lift to the roots and some wave through the ends.

Terry Kobrenski: My hair is fine and thin and it is frizzy so I have loads of volume. People think I have a lot of hair but it is just an illusion. I could go for a bit less frizz and volume. I live in SW FL and so far nothing I have tried will tame the frizz if the dew point rises above 60.

Kate Rusch: I also find that if your scalp and roots are too dry or don’t have the proper moisture balance it will go flat. A lot of volume or products meant for fine hair are extremely drying thinking moisture will weigh it down. This is especially important if you live in colder or drier climates. The redkin volume shampoo/conditioner that Chris recommends for fine hair are pretty good but I do have to go in one or twice a week and gently touch my scalp with the conditioner. Along with the Kenra root lift, these both work well in hot humid and cold dry environment. I also prefer using the regular volume mouse meant for the lower part of hair on my roots rather than the root lift version as I feel there is less hair fallout and scalp irritation with the mouse versions. Root lifters tend to make my scalp super itchy and fall out like crazy. Edit: just fyi I have straight fine very dark brown hair for reference. I find the color of hair somewhat determines the porosity of hair also

DebbieTDP: I have very short thinning hair, I had heavy shedding too I'm using the Redken Volume Injection shampoo and conditioner, then the Redken One United leave in, as he suggests. In the evening I alternate Redken and L'anza products for thinning hair. It's been a month and a half that I follow this routine. No more shedding since 3 days.

Raquel T: Love the video as always! I just purchased a couple of the products you suggested. Mainly the styling ones...I would love to know your recommendations for some clean non toxic options..just for what touches the scalp as so many of us have sensitive scalps and can use whatever on mid shaft to ends but shampoo and volumizing products with direct contact is a whole different story

Seralynn: My order recently came with some of the hair products you recommended for fine hair. I hate using a blowdryer or any sort of heat, so I chose the shampoos you said were better for air drying. I think I must have used way too much leave-in conditioner and/or hair oil though, because I got the effect you described. Although I didn't put either product on my roots, my hair for two days looked like I just washed it, and then on the third day, it was all greasy again lol. I guess I need to dial it down. My hair just felt so tangled and knotted though even after my shower with the new shampoo and conditioner, so I felt like I needed to use more of the leave-in conditioner so I could get through it without anything breaking. As a side note too, the shampoo smells amazing and lasts for about a day after the shower :). I've never had that happen before -- usually it dissipates within an hour or two.

Xtina: Also the redken volume injection i bought, used once and put away with the rest of the hair products that don't get used. Really dried my hair like crazy. I like the redken extreme strength and joico moisture recovery. Can't be without a good leave in conditioner and kerastase hair oil. The De Lorenzo defence heat protector is really good too.

Rebecca ART. AKA ClayFeathers: Thank again Chris. My hair is better than it has been for years!

Bobbee Weitman - Walker: Very informative. Thank you. Will you do a video about very fine hair and minoxidil? I have extremely fine hair and I also deal with hereditary hairloss. This has been ongoing for about 15 years. I use 5% minoxidil once a day and finally my hair loss has almost stopped. The issue is, minoxidils carrier is alcohol and no matter how much you try and keep it only on the scalp, it gets everywhere and causes bad breakage. I went from having long hair to above the shoulders because my hair broke itself off. If I don't shampoo every two days, the minoxidil builds up and makes my scalp feel gross. I use the Redkin Volume line. If i use mosurizing products, my hair gets weighed down. I need some advice.

Arunima Goel: Hi Chris, I have fine thin hair. I notice my hair starts itching just one day after wash. I try my best to remove all the shampoo and conditioner from my hair. It’s troubling me a lot. I would some help on this. My scalp gets itchy and flaky

Rachel L: Hey Chris, can do talk a bit more about how much product to use? I read the label on my products and it says to use like three pumps but I never know if that’s the recommended amount for say pixiecuts, for shoulder length hair, or butt length. I have long hair so I usually use about twice than they recommend, and I’m a bit worried it’s too much.

Kelly Maisonet: I do not subscribe to many channels but recently added yours. I appreciate the honest advise without looking for a sale. One thing I would ask, when holding a product please hold it still and not across the name. I’m steady trying to read the name of this pink bottle but can’t. Thank you for helping me realize the changes I need to make to better my hair! Love your channel! ❤

TiffiT.: What advice would you give for highlighting fine somewhat thin hair? Thank you. Loved this video!

Gupshi Mupshi: Dear Chris Wenzel, I recently discovered your channel & memorized each n every one of your advices. I do feel difference in my hair but it all goes down the drain when I step out. At home it feels soft, frizz free, shinny & outside it's just a heated mess. I'm from Bangladesh and buying expensive/professional hair products in current dollar rate is beyond difficult. But I do my best. Can you please help me??

Barbie Pompa: Love your videos and have used your recommended products. I have fine wavy/curly hair- I don’t always want to blow dry- any tips on styling & keeping natural waves/curls?

Lanie Slyter: Love this video chris!! Please make a series on fine hair. I feel like it's almost opp

L L: I AM SO THANKFUL Chris! My hair is so much better because of you! I can't get my hands on the kenra product in my country.. Can I use the redken root lifting spray as well for my fine hair? Does any wet brush the job or do I have to buy a "special one" for my fine hair? I would love to get a "blowout" look. Does the "one one step dryer and round styler work as well ? AGAIN: THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE! I learn to understand how my hair works!

Saviourr: hey man, im a guy and i started following you and i noticed all these tips are for women.. can you make a video on how to style "boy" length hair with a blow-dryer or make a video specifically for the male audience, thank you so much you transformed my hair (btw is olaplex 6 as good as big blowout for fine/medium hair?)

eli_ssa: hii comment section!! hope youre doing well loves<33 anyway skip to my point, my hair has never been SOOO healthy, until i discovered this channel. I've taken every recommendation, every advice, anything this guy says that's healthy for hair, and my hair is SOOO HEALTHY! LIKE WHAT?! anyway, i really do recommend this channel, my hair has never been so silky, shiny, smooth. 100% approved by me, but REMEMBER: hair type DIFFERS!! make sure you listen closely to each step for each typa hair, it could be different routines for curly hair, straight hair, wavy hair, oily scalp, dry hair, etc... enjoy your day/night lovely people<33 hope you can benefit from these reviews

Punkydoodle: I recently discovered you on YouTube and started binge watching all your videos. You are full of wonderful no nonsense information. I do have a question though. I have fine gray hair but I have always heard that I should use moisturizing shampoo because gray hair tends to be more dry. This video says never to use moisturizing shampoo because it's too heavy. What do you suggest I use?

Elizabeth Dominis: I use mulberry silk pillowcases instead of the bonnet, plus they’re beautiful on the bed.

Chele1985: I have long fine thin hair- I bought that Redken- didn't work for my hair, now I use Innersence products- PERFECTION! Now with a little dry shampoo- I wash my hair only on Sundays. So I agree- the less is more with fine thin hair.

Caroline Castenda: Random question: is this applicable to super bleach blonde (level 10, platinum) fine hair or do the products change since hair tends to be REALLY dry?

Xtina: Olaplex has ruined my hair, all thin, dry as straw etc. I've been looking into it and others have had the exact same problem. The only thing that's changed is using olaplex. I've stopped using it and my hair is in recovery

Flashlightficklampa: My hair is fine and thin, but I have waves/curls. I've seen so many techniques and tutorials of curly hair, and the CGM, but there aren't many who talk about fine curly hair. I don't know what to do to get the volume

Michelle Mullard: Brilliant. Thank you. I'm now going to watch all the rest of your videos. My hair is fine and I needed this advice.

Bella Puell: Hi Chris! I was wondering if your advice works for really short hair? My husband has coarse hair and his hair is pretty short but very voluminous. He wants to take better care of his hair. Could your advice be of use to him?

korat757: Yes! Styling is like walking. Practice makes perfect. Proceeds to trip over my own feet.

Jen Xer: It's crazy that the new stylist I went to just told me to use moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and avoid volumizing. She claims volumizing is more drying. I have very fine thin hair but it tends to be dry. I could actually go an entire week without washing it before it starts looking oily (I don't go that long because my scalp starts getting itchy after 3-4 days).

nj: Thanks for the videos, they have been really useful. I have very fine, wavy/curly hair which i air dry. I am using the redken and pureology products u suggested. However, I don't seem able to maintain my curls with this routine - by end of the first day, my curls have straightened and its all frizzy. I was doing cgm before, which gave me nice shiner curls - what r ur thoughts on cmg, wud be good to see video on that. I also need to wear helmet/head cover most days, so scalp gets greasy and hair flat - any suggestions, because I am forced to wash daily. We don't have pulp riot dry shampoo here - so alternative suggestions wud be useful. Thanks again

AnneLindsey1: Love your advice but it is always for long hair. I have a shoulder length all the same length bob. Would love to see a tutorial on shoulder length fine hair. I have no color in it. Thank you. I am using your recommendations up to this point. I get my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks and it is healthy for fine hair. I use a Lange blow dry brush that I really like. Thank you!

Freaky Peep: I have super fine wavy hair. I have AA, and need to use minoxidil every second day. I also tend to work out 4-5 days per week, so much so that my hair is soaked in sweat. So I tend to wash twice a week, and cowash every other day. My hair is curly at the front, and nearly dead straight at the back. I use a dyson once-twice per week for days when I want to look a bit sleek. I use K18, but other protein treatments dry out my hair a lot - once I had protein overload and my hair started shattering. I found Aveda moisture line is great. I went silicone free, and I am dipping back in with amodimethicone leave in product. Do you have any other protective styling products for fine hair that are okay with frequent washing? Is there a particular brand I should explore?

Jadie Lee: Thanks Chris! I have fine hair and straight across bangs. Can you do a video on how to keep bangs fresh? Mine get oilier so much faster than the rest of my hair.

Elle_from_ca Wa-li: Would love a video on fine wavy or curly hair

Little Bear: You're the best hair professional ever! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep up with these amazing videos!

Sabrina S.: Hi, how abt haircuts for thin hair? I love layers - is there a way to get layers on thin hair and not make it look like there’s even less hair?

Cynthia Cole: My fine thin natural blonde hair does best when I condition only the ends just to prevent tangling. Also need to use blonde shampoo in winter to avoid dull looking blonde. Helps it look clean without over washing.

F Earless: great video as always!!! would love to see a video analysing the curly girl method and a curly haircare video !!

Gina Troyer: Needed this video in my life. Thank you Chris!

: I love how you get straight to the point

Trish2013: I have been able to go 2-3 days by curling hair with redken 22. A lot of volumizing products make my hair really dry and tangled. Prose seems to doing well for me. Another oil that may be good for thin hair is verb ghost oil and it’s not too expensive.
