Easy No Heat Curls And Ringlets - How To Curl Your Hair With A Nylon Sock

For more hair ideas, please visit our site: http://princesshairstyles.com

This "no heat curling" method is very similar to the technique used in creating "rag curls." We prefer using nylons (or tights) since they are stretchy and soft. We've been saving nylon socks and using this method to curl our hair for years and the curls turn out great every time! When we get snags or holes in our nylons, we cut them up into strips and add them to our curling stash! We love that this method is easy, cheap, and non damaging to the hair. We will use curling irons, flat irons and other heat sources to create curls occasionally.... especially when we don't have time to wait for curlers to dry. But, we like to avoid heat whenever possible.

PS We have a fun updo recorded using these curls which we hope to upload soon. Keep an eye out!

We would love to see you on facebook: http://facebook.com/princesshairstyles...

Today, we're going to be showing you a method to curl the hair, and this is one that we've been using for a while, and all you're going to need is some nylons. And if your house is like mine, we get holes in our nylons pretty much. Every time we use them, and so we just save them and cut them up. Some of these are like toddler nylons. You can just cut one leg for each curler, but you want to make them about six to eight inches long and her hair is damp here. It'S not like soaking wet, but it is damp so that the curl will hold. If you do, it super wet it's going to take a long time to dry, so you just want it damp, but grab a section and you can roll these up horizontally or vertically. Whichever way you prefer, but all you're going to do is just stick the nylon on the end of the hair and then fold the end over the top and just roll it up. Just like you would a curler and then, when you get to the top of her head, you're just going to tie a knot with the ends, and so this is why you want the strip's fairly long. You just need enough that you can tie a knot and I usually just do a half of a knot, and it holds great just like that. If you want to fold a full knot, you can do that as well. If you think it's going to hold better I'll, just show you one more time we really like these curls, because you don't need to buy anything. I think pretty much. Everybody has nylons hanging around their house that have been ruined, and these are also pretty comfortable to sleep on they're, soft and stretchy and like some rollers that hurt your head and then the bigger sections of hair you take the more loose the curls are going to Be if you take tiny sections you're going to have really tight curls, you, okay, so I'm just going to finish going around her head and then we'll show you what it looks like when they're all in so we've got all of these in here's. What it looks like with them all rolled, we only use seven socks on her whole head. You could use more if you want tighter curls, but we're kind of going for looser ringlets here. So we're going to let these dry and then we'll show you what it looks like when we take them out. Okay, so here we are the next morning she slept on these overnight and gave them time to dry. To take these out. All you need to do is just loosen up that knot and then unroll them. I do love how easy these are to take out. They don't snag or pull the hair. Like some curlers we've tried since they're stretchy. The knot usually just comes right out without any trouble, as you can see, it's making some pretty cute curls, you, okay, so that's what the curls look like at this point. You'D probably want to separate them a little bit with your fingers, maybe spray with some hairspray. We are actually going to make an updo, so I'm just going to leave them just like this, so that the curls will be in tact for that, and I will link the video of the updo on this one when we get it uploaded.

summer m: My mom used to do this to me when I was a girl, I've done it for my girls too. I love how cute it comes out! Never thought of using old tights/nylons...would be better than cutting strips out of a old t-shirt or towel.

Ingrid19850: i find that heatless curls hold form much longer. Also, if you wait until the hair is JUST dry, i think it forms better curls, there is still moisture in the core of the hair.

LisaFreemontStreet: As a vintage stylist, I just want to thank you for this video. I have lots of these left over tights around my house and never thought about using them as my rag rollers. I would think the stretchiness and the texture would make them ideal! Granted, I won't be doing this on my daughter...thinking only of myself. haha. But my fellow vintage enthusiasts will be MORE than happy to use this tips as well...

Elia Limon: This is awesome!! Thank you so much I really needed this for my granddaughter's photoshoot today and I forgot to buy curlers.

pvredevoogd: Love it! You can use almost anything...I've done a plastic bag, socks, old shirts....etc. All of them produce amazing curls!

hairs2trish: Wow! That worked so perfectly :)

grace shin: This is soooooo easy!! I might try it!!

Natalie De Pablo: Woww this is awesome. Thanks for all the help on the styles !

Princess Hairstyles: @TheEndeavoringFamily Yes, this is very similar to rag curls. It's the same technique. ;) We prefer the nylon material because it is stretchy and the knots seem to come out easier when we are taking them out. You can definitely acheive the same cute curls with rags though.

JeN S: THANKS SO MUCH !!! LOVE IT !!! This would be so easy to curl my 4 year olds hair, as she gets scared everytime I come near her with a iron as I burnt her ear one time LOL haha!

jzprincesslub: omg your daughters hair is so healthy and shiny love it take care !

Princess Hairstyles: @joannalcm Yes, you could definitely start wrapping at the base if you wanted to. When you get to the ends of her hair, just tie the nylons up the same way as shown in the video while keeping the ends tucked in.

utatoners: Love the curls they make!

Emmabby Reborns: my girls have long hair....down to their waist. I used this method, wrapping each hair section up to their shoulders. try it.....it really does work, especially with longer hair. the results are amazing.

D Hart: This looks awesome:)

Meraida Cruz: NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING WORKED ON MY HAIR EXCEPT FOR THIS THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!

chatwithchika: Great idea, thanks!

JosieXS: awesome idea. will definately try on my daughter. luv ur videos. ☆☆

Morgan Gaddy: Wow , really pretty curls !

Joanna May: is there a way to do this that adds volume to the roots? for instance, can you start wrapping at the base and if so, how do you secure the ends? thanks!

briana manselle: this is the way I did my curls to do a pin up look for sprit week at school

Princess Hairstyles: @justjoyfuljen It would depend on the thickness of your hair and how wet your hair is when you roll it up. If you have fairly thin hair and only dampen it slightly, I would say 3 or so hours might work. Overnight would be best though for a curl that lasts longer.

Anna Toepfer: GENIUS!!! I Love this so much.

Virginia Alexander: This is the only way I curl my hair! I have such think long hair that I find it easier to wet my hair with a spray bottle before rolling them. if I start with a whole head of damp hair they'll still be wet when I unroll them.

Zee Iman: Yeah this is great for people who have perfect silky hair with no split ends and little bits of hair coming out when I tried all the hair just came out

Dylan Oakes: how does her hair stay so perfect and doesnt get fly aways overnight?! her her is gorgeous!

Mikhala: your daughter is so good. She is patient and folds her hands daintily, I also like how you pull tight for the braids and such but she never pulls away or says ouch! What a joy, it's like every mom's dream!

Rafiq Raja: i've tried this..it was pretry cool.and worked well

Alana Wagoner: The ends of my hair always turn out weird and awkward, any tips to prevent that?

Annie Francesca: Lovely!!!

Heyvadhaa Rajan: Can we use paper towels

Beth Hubbs: That is some SHINY hair! Beautiful!

Jennie Will: how long does the curl take to form with this method? would 2-3 hours be enough time or does it have to be overnight?

Natalya Roberts: step 1: be blessed with naturally perfect hair.

Hello World: her hair is so perfect... not damaged at all!

Shu: Very smart idea!

Hello World: Unfortunately, this doesn't work on me... I am 'blessed' with very thick, straight hair as Korean... and it doesn't get rolled on nylon!!! I just cut three of my tights (damaged ones though) for nothing... It works on actual socks though

Emilia Haszard: You could also use a cloth, it works just as well

Whimsical living: I'm doing this now :)

Indoorflame…。: That’s Beautiful

ellieyan: Beautiful copper hair ! :O

Kimberly Curiel: Can you please upload a no heat curl for a toddler tutorial please

Emily Nicole: You're a great Mommy for doing this to your beautiful daughter! Merry (Christ)mas! God Loves You! Emily

林小妞: How long does the curl stay up

Declan Osterhaus: They look really pretty

5hillfam <3: (Giggle) well, now I know how to see what my hair looks like shoulder length!

Kirsten Tilley: Her hair is a beautiful color!

Angela Zheng: @hair4myprincess Do the socks have to be nylon?

Nikomi Lewis: wow i so have to try this!

Kayla: you should do a tutorial on how to curl hair with a straightener

Petra Šantavá: beautiful hair

diana: do we have to use nylon socks?

Ilya: wait... so you basically can use anything right? doesnt have to specifically be socks tights or even a nylon material to achieve better results?

tolulope akindele: can you curl your hair with any kind of cloth or is it just socks

mya talaga: super cute!

Danielle Paat: @mistybabb doesn't matter what socks you use, for example I'm using knee highs, so yeah any sock, though the measurements still count.... :)

Cora Lodger: I already have curly hair. Will this still work?

Dimitri Doni: You’ve taken them off in the worst way possible ! The curls came out so messy but she has lovely shiny hair ! ❤️

addie marie: This is so hard for me to do by myself D:

DMPL20 cutesy: you can use paper and then tie the paper with elastics i already do that and it was cute curls.you can do that in long hair my hair is long

Amber88d: I just have to say" You are the Bomb" Best mom ever

Elizabeth Carlson: Can I do this with knee-high socks?

Kamryn Swartwout: omg it's so curly

Amber Clark: if you want them longer try curling smaller peices it will end up a little longer also if you want you could pin it up no matter how short the hair you can always pin it up XD

Princess Hairstyles: @biebergurl234 It would be more difficult to wrap up the hair, but it can be done. Good luck!

Ruby Parchment: I think my late Mom had a sock drawer in this house .... might be some therein!

holloway7285: should you put a hair net or something similar over your head as you sleep to keep these from getting fuzzy?

Taylor Lord: Thats amazing, but my hair doesnt go like that.

Lyndsey Tran: WOW!!!!!
