Extra Long Hairstyles | Step By Step How-To Tutorial

My name is catherine, and today i'm going to show you how to achieve the extra long hairstyles that you're, seeing all over social media, whether you've spotted this hairstyle on your favorite, celebrity an influencer on instagram or a hairstylist. Achieving a hairstyle that you just look at and you think how did they get their hair to be so long? I have some tips and tricks that are going to show you how you can achieve those at home by yourself. The first look that i'll be doing today is this beautiful half up half down hairstyle, so let's not waste any more time and go ahead and get into it quick disclaimer! Before we get into our first look. My hair has been suffering from the summer heat in the summer sun, so yesterday i took some time with our hair mask and our hair oil and really worked it into the roots. So it's a little bit oily today, but that's okay, because it actually works a lot better for these hairstyles for our first look today i'll be doing a half up half down hairstyle. Now i will show you what it looks like without the hair extensions, and then i will show you how to achieve that extra length that you're looking for. So when we go in to add that extra length i will be using our 20 inch seamless set in sandy blonde. I keep them in our carrier, it hangs in my closet. It keeps them safe and super accessible. Whenever i need them, i will also be using our 20 inch straight ponytail. I will be curling this, but this is also in the shade sandy blonde. I'M brushing my hair up to the place. I want it for the half up, half down ponytail the great thing about this brush. Is it actually gives you a pretty smooth finish? This is the half up half down, look without extensions in it now to achieve that extra length, i'm going to start going in with my 20 inch seamless set, so i'm going to be sectioning off my hair, just as i would if i was putting my extensions In in a regular down hairstyle, but to make sure that the hair in my ponytail or any other hairs are not in the way of those clips, i'm going to be using an alligator clip from our application set. So you get two in here as well as a comb, so to start out, i'm going to use a two clip weft. What an amazing look, i'm actually going to curl this as i go to ensure i'm getting all the pieces and it's all blending. Well, my signature curler has been sitting over here on waiting heating up and it's ready to go so i'm going to literally just take this entire side and curl it away from my face and, as you can see, i was able to fit all the hair on The barrel there that is not because i'm super talented i am, but it is because the barrel is actually extra long for the extra length of your hair extensions, i'm going to go ahead and continue this process all the way up, my head, so i'm going to Now spray these and leave, as is as i tackle the ponytail, so i actually threw the ponytail up with a little bobby pin. I didn't want any hair mixing in so i put it up into a little bun, because now what we're going to do is put our ponytail extension in and curl our natural hair. With this now, let's just take a minute to look at the difference of this thickness of this ponytail. Beside this, like it's an entire ponytail as you're half up, this has three prongs on it, so i just take this. I start with the middle prong as my base and i put that right at the middle of my hair elastic. I secure that in and then i go around and make sure the other two are secured in as well, and then this is where i take the velcro and loop it around. Now we secure it with the bobby pin that came with the ponytail, and now we get to curl. So one thing i will do is i'll take all of my bottom half and put it on one side so that i can make sure that i'm curling the ponytail with the ponytail and i like to brush it through holding on to it just to make sure That my natural hair is being mixed in with the extension as well, so i'm going to go ahead and do that and you will see the finished product when i'm done. Everything is all curled. So this is again where i take my hairspray make sure everything is set in place and then i brush it out, and that is the first look of our extra long hairstyles. I'M sorry, but tell me this is not chef's kiss compared to my hair. Naturally, half up half down after experiencing this, i never want to wear my hair half up half down without extensions again, so warning that might happen to you all right. As you can see, i've taken my hair out of the half up half down and i've brushed. My hair into a sleek mid pony, so something we need for this extra long ponytail is a little hair elastic. You can get them at the drugstore, you can get them at the dollar store, any hair supply store really, and these are the fun little ones that you probably had when you were a little kid i'm going to actually take my natural pony and braid it. Alright. Now that we have our little braid, what we are actually going to do is attach our seamless set to our braid sideways. So, depending on your braid, your hair thickness the length of your braid. It depends completely and it's totally up to you of what works for your hair, but we are trying to achieve that length and that coverage with our seamless pieces. So i'm just taking a three clip weft and starting with that and then i'll go in with. Maybe a four clip weft a couple, two clip wefts and then i will scatter my one clip wefts downwards, so that that blend is how we want it all right now that our hair is clipped in, we are going to be putting our ponytail in and it's Actually going to just cover up that braid and all the wefts clipped onto it, and now our ponytail is long, but it's not quite blended. So i'm actually going to go back in with my signature curler and make sure all the pieces are curled together. Both the ponytail and the seamless clip-ins all right, it's pretty much all curled there. So what else i like to do is set some hairspray just around the ponytail that is covering the braid, because obviously we don't want our braid of wefts to be peeking out once that hairspray is set a little bit. I will take my brush and once again go through and brush it out, ensuring we are not yanking on the braid. That is how we get our extremely long ponytail all right. Now. I'Ve obviously taken the extra long ponytail out, so we can get into the extra long braid. So we are going to be using our seamless set for this, but if you have a classic set, you can totally use that as well. I just have my seamless set on hand with all the different hairstyles we've been doing. Today we are going to braid our braid each into individual braided pieces. Let me show you we're going to brush our hair into the position that we want it to be in our ponytail, so we are going to start with this piece here. I'M going to separate these guys off now in this piece. We want to cover a little braid, so how it works. Is i'm going to take the inside of this and i'm going to braid this, so i'm leaving these pieces out inside of this little piece here now using a little hair elastic again, i'm going to secure this braid and then on this braid, i'm going to attach A weft that hair that was left out of the braid but part of this piece will then cover the weft. So this is where our pomade comes in. This is when we can take the outer hair and really put it where we want it around that braid. So making sure that this piece is sleek, i'm going to secure this off to the side and then i'm going to repeat the process with these other two pieces. So now that we have our three strands, we are going to braid, ensuring that everything is sleek and where it needs to be as we go now. This is super simple. You can look in the mirror, you can have a friend look, you can take some photos, but one thing i like to do is just feel around make sure they are where they want to be, because then we are going in with hairspray and our pomade and Sealing this in for the final step i like to take a one clip left, clip it directly underneath the braid and then i use this to cover up my hair elastic and there you have it the extra long braids.
