In this video, I talk about my experience with the bonnet dryer attachment.

What'S up y'all, it's southern curl Tara here with a little therapy for your hair. It has been a minute since I have done a video, and the only excuse I have is that it is summertime in the south, and it is so hot and sweaty that I don't want to do anything. So I have been totally uninspired to sit down and actually record the video, but today it's cooler than it has been it's raining outside and I am tired of cleaning house. So I decided that I would make a few videos today that have been percolating for a while now. First, I'd like to talk about a new thing, a new little handy, dandy, tool that I purchased after probably oh, my gosh, probably a good 6 months of putting it in my Amazon, shopping, cart and taking it out again - and you have probably seen this online if You'Re in a curly girl support group, it is actually a bonnet hair dryer and this one it's just made out of maybe a polyester or something and they're usually pretty inexpensive. You can also pick these up at Sally's, but I got this one on Amazon for around. I don't know 10 or 12 bucks, it had great reviews and they actually had a choice other than black. So I went with that just to add a little fun to the bathroom. So let me show you what it looks like, so this is actually just a helmet. Looking hat that you put on it, has holes on the inside, I'm not sure yeah, you can see a little bit here and it has an elastic strap that goes around your chin. It also has a drawstring with a little tightening thing. Now. This part is an accordion-style hose that also has holes in it. So if you're worried about your hair dryer overheating that should help it, it's actually right near the nozzle area yeah you can see. So I was really worried about tearing up my hairdryer, and so I was relieved to see this as part of the design. So what you do is that you actually attach the to your dryer nozzle and you turn it on now. If you're like me and have longer hair or even thicker hair, you may be worried about getting all of it up into this hat, and so the solution that I have found that works, the best is actually to put my hair up after I've applied my product. In the mesh veil net it's a little nylon net. You could also use a regular hair net. I'M not sure how that would work. It might give you a weird curl pattern. I find that this allows me to basically do a plop really consistently and it allows airflow to air to get it allows the air to flow through to your hair and, and it doesn't heat up to make your hair. You know your head hot or anything like that, so that works really well. I have tried a couple of different variations of using it today. I actually tried to put my hair into it upside down and then turn it on, because when this inflates it gets pretty thick and that my philosophy was - or my thought was, that it would inflate and hold my hair in that position, so that my hair would Not like all fall down out of the cap, it worked. Okay, I actually left it on for a few minutes and then decided to take it off carefully and actually put the the veil net back on in order to sit there for a little bit longer to dry it. Now I have heard some people say that it cut their dry time down from an hour and a half to like 15 minutes, and perhaps that is so for some people, but for anyone who has described their hair like mine, which is thick and coarse and low Porosity, I'm calling, I cannot report that that was true for me. I have now tried this over the last six weeks or so with a couple of different factors in the in place other than the weather. I'Ve tried it with different products. I'Ve tried with my hair, soaking wet. I'Ve tried it after my hair has been really removed of water, with a t-shirt or with a microfiber towel, and I have found that by and large it still takes my hair a long time to dry now. The difference is that I could do something with my hands, so so one of the best days I had when I was using it was a day when I was just eager to try it out. I'D only had it, I mean I've, just gotten it in the mail, and I sat down at my computer and attached the the bonnet to the hairdryer and was able to put it beside me, and I worked on my computer and got all kinds of things done With the dryer attached, so you know if it takes your hair, a long time to dry, that you can get it totally fatigued just from holding the diffuser, even if you're not holding it upside down, it's boring! You can't do much. It can even be hard to watch a show because of the sound of the dryer, so to be able to do anything else, other than just stand there and look at myself in the mirror has been well worth the 10 or 12 bucks that I spent on It so I ended up getting another one on Amazon Prime day, because I had a ten dollar credit from a different purchase, and so I bought another one to throw into my travel bag. That was totally free to me, which was awesome because it is so lightweight and it makes it really nice that in the hotels that do have dryers, that can help me. If I need to let my hair down a little bit more in order to refresh. So if you're thinking about giving this a try, I say why not again is inexpensive and it allows you to be able to do some other things, while you're letting your hair dry I'd be curious to hear how long it takes it took your hair to dry. If you use it so the example I have today is that I actually wet my hair down. It was not a wash day I washed a couple days ago, but I wet my hair and dejan combed it through and put a little more conditioner and product in it, because it's so humid out that my hair was just on the struggle bus. So anyway, I wet my hair down apply product as if I had washed it and started there. At 1:30 p.m. I began drying my hair and at 3:30 that was not. I did not sit there for the entire time. I kind of cut it on and off, but gave it a good 15 or 20 minutes. At a time when I sat down with the dryer at 3:30, it was still wet, and now it is still damp damp enough that I don't want to shake it out. You can see, I still have my root clips and to try to make sure that my roots dry well, it's a Sunday afternoon, so I am and we're not going anywhere. So there was no reason for me to continue trying to get it dry. I actually was trying to get it dry just for this video, so I would look a little more presentable, but anyway, it still gave me some nice-looking curls, so it's like it helps to set it in so just like you might do if you use a diffuser Regularly, where you get it started, so your product will will start to dry and form a cast. Today I don't have a book you. I wish you could feel it here is actually really soft, but you can see that my clumps are still together like they would be. If I had a cast - and I would typically still shake this out so anyway - it's like it sets your hair in place, especially if you struggle with keeping the integrity of your curls before it gets totally dry. If your hair tends to get weighted down, this could be a great solution for you to be able to get to use it and get other things done so give it a try. Let me know what you think in the comments. I will insert some pictures here. So you can see what it's like when I've had it on. It'S absolutely ridiculous. This said that it had a longer hose on it, but I'm not so sure that it did. I actually need to measure this one. I it's a little awkward when I am standing or when I'm sitting to position the dryer in such a way that I'm able to use this without forming a kink and without being too and without having to sit there and hold it. Because that is also not very helpful so anyway, that would be my only. I guess my only critique nope, that's not true. Other thing is that I've found that the elastic it's a little too long, so I'm probably going to take it up. I tried tying a knot in it and that also didn't work. It made it hard for me to get my hair in side it. So I had it pretty tight, so we'll see I'll, probably experiment with a few things to try to make this a little bit of a better better. So I will probably try to add a different elastic here or maybe even something, with a strap that I can snap or that I can button when this elastic gets worn out. Well, that's all I have on this topic. I hope this video was useful and would love to hear your comments or questions about this particular device. In the comment section below thanks for watching we'll see you next time.

tnbella7: I kind of forgot I had a bonnet dryer. I’ll have to try it tonight. Glad to have another Southern curly girl!

Steph G: Your curls look fantastic!

Brenda Hartman: Thanks for the review! Did you root clip while you were using the bonnet or after you were done with the bonnet?

Laura Dovalo: LOL, I absolutely had the impression that this wouldn't work at all, but I like the idea of not having to travel with my blowdrier... I might have to give it a try. My hair also takes forever to dry... Although now that I cut half off, I hope it's quicker.

LH: Thank you for your videos. You are beautiful!
