Did I just ruin my natural hair? I did not take care of my hair and my hair definitely paid the price for my neglect. This wasn't planned at all. I did not even sit down to think. Oh I'm going to do these things or I'm not going to do these things to my hair, so that my hair would be ruined life. Just kind of happened - and I found myself here. The most important thing for me at this point is to hold myself accountable for my actions, because sometimes I would like to give as as to why I found myself neglecting my hair, but I think holding myself accountable for my actions and inactions is the first step To correcting all of the mistakes I made, and although the health of my hair has greatly suffered, I still feel like there's a space for Redemption, hello guys. My name is Angela of Afro league and in today's video I am going to be keeping it real with you guys and although it saddens me, but in today's video I'm going to be sharing all of the things I did and things that I did not do. That was just terrible for the General Health of my natural hair. I am sharing this information so that you do not make the same mistakes that I made. I am also making this video as a reminder to myself so that I do not find myself in the same situation in 2023.. The first mistake that I made that none of you should ever make is that I was inconsistent with hearing from my hair and I still calling it inconsistent is putting it lightly. It is me minimizing what I actually did to my hair. I completely neglected my hair for more month on various occasions. It was so bad and every time I would neglect my hair. I would come back and make a video and say: oh I'll, be neglecting my hair, but I'm going to do better. Yeah yeah yeah and after that video I will fall right back into neglecting my hair. I think, if you put all the time that I was consistent with my hair care together, it will not be up to three months and how many months do we have in a year? That'S not even half of the months that we have in a year and I completely neglected my hair for more than half of the year. It is alarming and although I want to give myself some Grace, because I did not neglect my hair out of hate or anything that was within my control most times I neglected my hair, I was actually going through life and caring for my hair was not top Priority for me at that point something I'd also give myself Grace for was that every time I would put myself out of that cycle, I would ensure that I give my hair a thorough, wash properly deep condition. My hair, probably detangle my hair and put it detective style that I would give myself some points for, but the fact that I would go for months without washing my hair. It was just bad and I hope that in 2023 I have all the grace and the strength to not find myself in that position anymore. I just realize I have the energy to care for my hair and do other things in my life that I really need to do as I spray for strength. One thing I'm going to do to prevent that situation from happening again is to have a manual timetable for caring for my hair, I think, while having my hair care routine, written down kind of, threw me off because most times I'll just think to myself. Oh, it is time for me to wash my hair and then I'll be like you know what I can push it for one week at the end of that week. I'M, like you know, like I'm, actually push it for another week, but I think that if I have a manual timetable where it is a physical reminder for me to actually wash my hair, I think that I'll be able to follow through without everything. So in 2023. I'M going to create a manual routine that will have me ticking boxes so that I have a visual reminder that hey Angela you've, not washed your hair, and you should go and do that because of all the times that I neglected my hair in 2023. My hair was brutally dry. My hair has never been as dry as it felt in 2023, especially my ends. My ends were also dry, which was leading to a lot of breakage. I was dealing with a lot of Tangles and I knew the side effects of these things, but I was just I was just going through it honestly. The next mistake that I made the next mistake that I made that's, why I'm so ashamed to say it out right now is that I did not trim my hair early enough like I was at the point where I knew I needed a train. It was obvious. I needed a dream. My ends were tangling. My ends were breaking up. I knew I knew I needed a dream, but I was pushing it like. I just wanting to be ignorant that your hair needs streaming. It is also another thing to know that your hair is streaming, but you end up not three minutes. Who does that, and what is crazy is that when I eventually trimmed my hair, I had to cut off a lot of hair compared to what I would normally trim off once I trimmed with my hair. It became super easy for me to detangle my hair. My brush was just sliding and gliding through my hair, and I was like girl, so why were you holding on to this end? Holding on to those ends were causing more damage to my hair. It was never beneficial to my hair in the first place. So please do not be like me: do not hold on to the ends that needs to retreat. Trim your ends when you know they required to be trimmed because at the end of the day, you'll be the one to Bear the consequence. 2023. I'M going to trim my hair immediately immediately. I noticed that my ends meet truly. I am not going to push it, I'm not going to say! Oh I'll, do it next week immediately. I noticed my ends literally mean I am going to trim my hair. I don't mind if it is three or four times in a year like I am going to trim my hair. I have learned from my mistakes and I am never repeating this mistake again. Do you know what's this funny? What is funny is that I say natural hair content creator. Most of the mistakes that I made in 2022 are things that I know that were wrong. I know that I should not be holding on to ends at a Tango that I need streaming other mistakes. I made also, I know I am knowledgeable. I know that I shouldn't be doing those things. In fact, I come away and I make videos about mistakes that you shouldn't, make your natural hair Journey, but for some weird reason I find myself making those mistakes. I am human at the end of the day, but I am not repeating those mistakes and you should also not fumble like I did now to the 12 mistakes that I made. I actually just realized that I was making this mistake in December. Initially, it wasn't much of a problem, but in December I started noticing that this particular mistake was causing terrible issues to my scalp. The mistake is that I was wearing my Bonnet 24 7. 7 days in a week 30 to 21 days in a month. At 12 months in a year, I was constantly wearing my Bonnet the few times I did not wear my bonus with times I needed to run some quick errands, and that would not even take me up to an hour or two the rest of the time. I was constantly wearing my bunny and I know that you may be shocked about why wearing my Bonnet all the time is part of the mistakes that I made in my natural hair Journey. Honestly, I did not ever think that wearing my bunny would cause problems to my hair or would be part of the mistake that I made with my hair in 2023, but as much as people would advocate for wearing a bonnet in the natural hair community. I think I overdid it no. I do not think I actually over ideas. Most people would wear their Bonnet through the night and in the morning take off their bonnets, but because I was mostly at home, I was constantly wearing my Bonnet. I remember initially I told you about neglecting my hair and that my hair was dry. My scalp was dry so for most part of the year, I did not notice that wearing my Bonnet all the time was a problem, but now in December, whether it's kind of dry and cold, I actually noticed that this cup area around my edges became excessively dry And was flaking a lot. I would not have connected this problem with my Bonnet, except for the fact that the rest of my scalp was not having any issue just around my edges, and this was the part of my head that mostly came in contact with my bonnets. So imagine my scalp is already dry from the neglect and then I'll constantly tie my bonnets on it. It became super super dry to the point that my scalp was flaking and now, even though I am trying to reduce her often, I wear my body which is kind of hard for me, because I am used to wearing my Bonnet. The problem is still there like. I'M trying to wash my hair okay, I'm trying to use products on this and although I can see a little bit of changes, but the problem is still there and obviously I know it will not go overnight because the problem did not happen overnight. So I'm going to be patient, I'm not feeling a month or two. I can get this cup around my edges area to the best health possible. Another solution that I'll be implementing to solve this problem. As far as we're using our phone, I wear my burners I'm taking care of my hair so that my scalp becomes moisturized. I would also invest in good um satin pillowcase, so that I will not have to wear my bonnets all the time I can just switch it for the satin pillowcase once in a while. The next mistake I made when it came to caring for my natural hair is the fact that I did not trust people with my hair, and this was not a problem for me because in the last couple of years I also did not trust people with my Hair but I was constantly taking care of my hair, but they say that I can experienced low energy when it came to caring for my hair and the inconsistency and caring for my hair. I think it's the video wise decision for me so begin to trust. Other people with my hair and have them care for my hair, I mean having other people caring for my hair would have been better than just neglecting my hair. The way I did, I think I need to trust, even if it is one person I need to find one person that actually trusts with my hair, that whenever I'm going through the inconsistency of wanting to care for my hair, I can actually meet that person and Have them wash my hair and put it in a style for me and honestly, it is easier said than done, because I have a lot of issues. I have a lot of trust issues when it comes to allowing people care for my hair. I have had people burn my hair with a blow dryer. I have had people use fine tooth comb on my natural hair and have almost half of my hair fall on the floor due to break in I've. Had so many traumatic experience with having other people care for my hair, and I know it will take a while for me to fully lean into other people caring for my hair. But I think it would be a good decision for me, especially if I can find somebody that really knows how care for natural hair. The most important thing I'm looking up when I'm searching for a salon to go care for my hair, is that they have the right knowledge when it comes to caring for natural hair, and they also have to have natural hair himself. I'M sorry I'm going to be buying, I feel like someone who has natural hair, can 100 give better service to other people with natural hair. So I'm going to be looking out for that, I'm also going to be looking out for affordability. Of course, I know most salons are focused on natural hair would be higher than regular salons in terms of price. But then again I do not want a salon that will call Price that we cut to my neck. I want it to be affordable, because caring for my natural hair should not be a luxury. It should not be something that only wealthy people can afford. I want a salon that is Affordable and I can properly care for my hair. I mean that is not too much to ask for. I think so, I'm going to take you guys on that Journey when I begin to search for salons that I can actually go to get my natural hair done. If you want to see those video in the next coming months, do make sure to subscribe to my channel now and turn on your post notification so that you'll be notified when that video is uploaded. The next mistake that I made - I am so embarrassed to see - and I know I'll be saying I am so embarrassed for every mistake. I get so embarrassing honestly, like I'm so ashamed of myself - that I would do these things. Okay, this one is neglecting a DIY recipe that actually worked for my hair, who does that? What what you find, something that works for their hair and then neglect it out of laziness if you've been watching my video, some of you may know that I use clove water on my hair and the goal was to grow out hair on my bald spot. I'Ve had a bad spot for years, and there was nothing that really worked on it. When I started using clove water, I actually saw a change in my bath spots and instead of me now that I have seen a recipe that works instead of me to continue. It I became lazy, I became too comfortable and I was like I'm going to do it tomorrow, I'm going to do next week and now the years ended and I have not been using it. No don't tell me who does that. I cannot really tell if the clove Water Works in improving the length of my hair, because, honestly I do not. I cannot tell you how long my hair is. I don't wear it soft on my body parts. I don't even know what to say is it works on the left of my hair, but one thing that I know is that it actually works on my bald spots. So next year, in 2023, I'm going to start using the clove water again on my belt spot until my hair grows to the point where I'm highly satisfied, something I'm also going to do in 2023. Is that I'm going to try out my hands on other DIY recipes? And although I am not a DIY person, I actually prefer stopwatch products, but I am willing to try out some DIY recipes, especially DIY recipes that are backed with scientific information. I'M going to you know, play with it here and there and see what it is all about. So if there's any DIY recipe that you have tried - and you want for me to try do - let me know in the comment section or if that recipe does something you'll be seen, but you want me to check it out first before you actually go ahead to Try it, I am also willing to be a guinea pig, I'm going to test it out for you. So just let me know in the comment section and I'll walk towards it and make a video about that particular DIY recipe in 2023. I hope that I am able to correct most of these mistakes that I made and that I don't make fresh and new mistakes. Please I just pray, I don't make new mistakes so that I don't get to make this video. This video is so embarrassing for me to make. I just hope that I don't put myself in a position to make this type of video in 2023. I hope that our hair in 2023 reaches the best of its health of his lens of its thickness and every other goal that you have for your hair in 2023. Thank you so much for watching today's video, and I will see you in my next one happy New Year. Bye

Chargirl: All last year was a setback for me and my hair. But I believe I had a breakthrough today lol! Ill praise God in advance! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to sharing in your journey! - I also was very inconsistent. - I never neglected my hair but there was too much manipulation. Your skin looks amazing!

Adeshola Ojo: That sounds like you were going through depression… one of the symptoms is not having the urge to bringing yourself to doing your usual tasks even when you’re fully aware of the consequences that come with the refusal of not doing them just like you stated. I hope your hair bounces back soonest. Good luck.

Benezia Haruna: I don't think wearing your bonnet caused damage to your hair it's neglecting the hair under the bonnet is what's the problem. If you care for your hair etc and it's under the bonnet it wouldn't get damaged

Praise Jah Uzoamaka: Pls don't neglect your hair again just the way you don't neglect eating no matter the situation. I thought you would have shown us the level of damage so that as the journey begins we will also notice the improvement so as to encourage another going through same issues. Weldone for realizing and knowing what next of action to take. No wonder I have not being seeing your posts. Let's make it more memorable 2023 for our hair. Be strong dear
