Hey, I thought I would come and show you my thought process when trying to get a sleek mold. My hair is relaxed and I relaxed the sides only about 5 days prior to filming this video. I enjoy using Nairobi to mold my hair however there is a downside which I mention in the video.

I hope you find it helpful in some way!

Enjoy!

Hey guys welcome back to my channel, my name is roxy for those of you guys who are new. So let's jump right into it. I'M honestly just going to show you guys how i wrap my hair and how i get like a sleek mold. I just washed. My hair, i washed my hair with a protein treatment and i also deep i used a deep treatment from shea moisture, so i use a deep treatment mask so i'm going to be wrapping my hair today with nairobi, the rapid shine foaming lotion um. So i'm going to just take the foam and just distribute it throughout my hair, and i want to get it like really close to the root and work it all the way in and all the way around. So if you guys want to check out my last video that was relaxer day, so i did do a partial relaxer and that was about i want to say about five days ago, so i did do a partial relaxer, so in up here has more texture. So i really want to work the mousse, the foam into the root um, one thing with nairobi: it's very foamy, so it's easy to work the product into your hair and the foam doesn't dissolve really quickly, which is a good thing, because it gives you time to Work with the product, and also your hair doesn't have to be dripping wet in order for it to be able to maneuver, because i don't know it's still like the consistency allows it to kind of wet your hair, but then still keep it nice and foamy at The same time, okay, so when i'm wrapping my hair, i'm using like a really fine tooth comb, because you really want to work the product throughout your hair and comb it out, especially up here, where there's a lot more texture like more of my natural hair, i Really want to work it through and with me with nairobi. I really i'm really heavy-handed. I don't know why i just am you probably don't have to be this heavy-handed, but but, as you guys can see, the consistency of the foam like it makes it so easy to like work with the product and like work through your hair and really maneuver your Hair with the product in it, okay, so for this mold i don't want a definite part. I don't know why. I started a part i'm going to just comb out the part and just smooth it in one direction and, as you guys can see like the foam. Never goes away, and i really like that and then i'm just smoothing everything down, but as i comb it, i'm taking my hand and i'm pasting it down like this. So this kind of helps, guide and smooth it. So let me show you guys the back so as i comb it, i'm smoothing it with my hand as well and that's a technique. I definitely learned um from other youtubers and other hairstylists as well. It helps to really smooth your hair okay, so i haven't really touched up here yet, so i got to make sure i get the top as well. Okay, okay, so i'm just smoothing it with my hand yeah. So my mold pretty much looks like this. I'M just gon na take my rapid strips, and these are the rapid junior strips so they're the skinnier ones, and these are the white ones that i'm using. So i have my first wrap strip here. If my hair is really like, wet and filled with mousse. Sometimes i don't have to tie it. I just use um the mousse from my hair. Oh, i just take some mousse to really stick it. I got it mommy. Let me know if you guys have done this before. Oh my gosh cassidy is so chatty right now. She'S here with me today, so you know just bear with me: please all right so for the second one, i'm gon na kind of put it at the bottom here so that the bottom stays nice and flat. I don't know if you guys can see. So i really want the bottom to be flat. I don't want it to like lift, so i'm going to put it up here or down there and then i'm gon na tie this one. So i think that's enough coverage. I can go directly under the dryer now. For me, the key and main thing for getting a smooth mold is the mousse, definitely um. It does help when you have a fresh relaxer. However, if you don't have a fresh relaxer it really it's really up to the mousse to get you like a nice wrap, so um, one of my favorite ones, is the nairobi rapid shine, foaming lotion simply because of the consistency of the foam like it makes it Easier to maneuver your hair, while the foam is in it, the foam, like stays foamy for a really long time, so it doesn't just dissolve and um and it has like a nice hold. But once you actually try this you'll understand what i'm talking about um i'm not gon na lie. There is a downside to this nairobi so, like i find - and i think someone mentioned in the comments before um - sometimes my skin will get really dry back here, like i'll, get like a like really dry uh, like flaky reaction back here like right on my nape And i think it's i think it's because when i wrap my hair and all the like, the product sits on the back of my neck um. It doesn't agree with my skin, especially when it sits on it. Like that, that's the only issue that i have at nairobi um, but it doesn't last for long like it's easy to like go away like you know like moisturizing your skin over the following few days and like bathing. But besides that, that's it i don't see any other issue with it. It'S one of the foams that you want to use. If your hair is like not bone straight or say you have like a loose wave or your hair is a little bit more on the natural side. This one would probably give you a nice good mold, especially after your hair is freshly washed um, but yeah just give it a try, and let me know what you guys think all right, so my hair is dry. Now i went under the dryer for about half an hour. This is my lace glue because you guys know i wear lace. Wigs yeah, okay, i'm gon na show you guys the back. So right here is really bothering me. What i normally would do is just take the scissor and just trim it like this okay, so this is pretty much how i mold my hair for when i'm about to style it or even if i want to just rock it like this, that's what i would Do the back is a little bit kicked up. However, i think i would like to go and have the back taken down. So i'm gon na go to my stylist and have her just take down the back just a little bit um. So yeah, that's what i'm gon na do. That'S the only thing that really affects my mold, like the mold. For me, i really feel like styling, my hair with the flat iron, so i'm gon na do that off camera, of course, but i just wanted to show you guys this video um. I just want to quickly come on here and show you guys how and show you guys how i get a nice sleek wrap. Honestly, it just boils down to the mousse using a nice fine, toothed comb, making sure your hair is a nice wet, nice and wet, or at least stamped before you mold it, and it does help that you have a relaxer. So, thank you guys so much for watching this video. If you found it helpful, don't forget to give me a thumbs up and, as usual i'll see you guys in my next video bye

ItzSista47: I also tried Lottabody Foam too AFTER trying Nairobi. Lottabody made my natural hair shiny and soft but I prefer Nairobi. Nairobi has a more firm mold which I like better.

BeingDorothy: Yes definitely trying this style on the weekend. I’ve learned so much from your videos thank you

Clemence D.: My mold turned out really fizzy and I couldn’t hold a curl when I flat ironed it. I used the Nairobi foam after freshly washed and sat under a portable dryer for 45min on medium heat. I flat ironed at 380 degrees. I can’t figure out what I did wrong. Any insights? I will say that the Nairobi wasn’t foaming as well and dripping at lot. Maybe not working fast enough when molding? Was practicing finger waves…
