Heat can be used to help retain hair length. During colder months I like to use a blow dryer to stretch and style my hair. Here is how I blow dry my natural grey hair for length retention.

Welcome and welcome back in this video, I'm just going to go over my blow dry, routine, we're going to start with this deep conditioner. This is the consistency it's very thick, very, very thick, so on freshly washed hair, I'm going to apply this hair mask thoroughly in sections, so this is just a sped up version of me applying this conditioner again, it's very thick. It was so thick. It had me wondering: is this just going to sit on my hair, but it actually did very well so now I'm just twisting that section up and I'm going to be repeating this on all of the sections of my hair front section and also, even though it's A cream color there was no color deposit on my hair. So here we are fully covered plastic cap left it on rinsed it out. This is the leave-in conditioner. I use a leave-in conditioner when I blow dry my hair. I do not use grease when I blow dry, my hair again working in sections, I'm going to apply my leave-in, making sure that it is Thoroughly in that section. I'M going to go in with a wide tooth comb and gently, but thoroughly detangle, that section and then I blow dry. So what you're seeing is the tension blow dry method where I'm holding the hair taut and then blow drying along the length of the hair? To get it dry but not dry dry, I want it to be dry so that when I release this stretch it doesn't shrink back up and notice how I keep the blow dryer moving along the hair. I don't just hold it in one spot, so just keep the air moving. I keep the ends protected because the ends are the last thing that I'm going to allow the air to go on. So we're still shrinking. So we're not quite dry yet, but the ends are still damp, so we're keeping that air moving - and here are my settings so warm but high. So now that we're fully dry, I'm adding oil to that section and I make sure that it's very thoroughly distributed throughout my hair in that section and then once I'm done, adding the oil we're going to twist that section up and move on to the next section. So here's me just demoing doing the front section where most of my gray hair is concentrated and I basically follow the same technique, focusing mostly on drying out through the roots so that it doesn't shrink back up and then protecting the ends until last and now. Once it's dry but not dry dry, I'm applying the oil again to that section and again, even though the oil is yellow, there is no color deposit on my gray hairs, so they're, very moisturized and white, and now I'm going to twist that section up so that I can finish blow drying the other sections of my hair that are left all right. So now we are fully blow dried, I'm just gon na untwist the front two sections so that you can see how this blow dry turned out. Um again, it's not it's dry, but it's not dry feeling. It'S soft moisturized there's a lot of movement. This is the front, and this is the back. So I have a very nice stretch and I'm going to wear twists for the week on this blow. Dried stretch state and then maybe a twist out later on, thanks for watching

Evelyn Parham: My gray is concentrated in the front too. Your hair is beautiful, and thanks for sharing!!
