#Haircut #Fade #Taper

Alright guys welcome back to the legal gentleman youtube channel at the regal gentleman studio. Today, we've got michael in the chat. How are you mate? I'M good you're good great to meet you yeah, it's good to have you here, mate, hey! What'S the plan, what you want to do today, so i was thinking just a bit of a low fade yeah or got this like waviness in my hair, especially when it's a bit longer yeah um. I do want to take it down, but um kind of maintain the waveness and the texture. Okay - and i just think you know whatever you think is best for the top, because i actually have not much idea: okay, yeah yeah, yeah, no worries man. What is it? You'Re trying to do with the top um, what's the ideal, lock your shower chair, look um. To be honest, i quite like the length but um. I normally have it quite a bit shorter than this yeah yeah um, but i lose the weight when it gets shorter. Yeah, of course, yeah the last time i cut this um. I did it myself to be fair and uh, even as you can see, the crown looks a bit short like yeah yeah yeah, just through there. It looks i was just i was just doing when you were talking. I was just looking at your hair. This is really big and then this is quite short here. So, okay, that's cool man. That'S cool, but i mean you haven't you haven't. You know it could be a lot worse. You know i've seen them i've seen much worse, so it's don't worry about it. So just jumping in the way you like the kind of texture your hair's, become, as it's got a bit longer right, but it's just kind of getting a bit too big. I mean it does look because of because obviously this is like you know either a little bit of diy and also pre-locked down here. Quite imagine um, because we had a locked down for four months in the uk. I the thing is you've got now. Is you just got no shape or anything in it right? So if you were to keep a lot of the length, i think you're gon na have to take a little bit a little bit off just because that crown is so short like. If you didn't have curly hair that'd be sticking up now: okay, because that is literally shorter than mine at the crown, and, if you think about how long this bit is here and all this bit is here usually the other way around. This is the longest point and these get shorter. Okay, so what's happening now, it's creating you're, probably best coming behind me, my to see it's creating this kind of like that kind of effect. You see because that is so sharp there and then we've got all this length through here, so it's almost like, as if we pulled it into the middle and cut it and that's what's been left as it's been over, directed problem is, makes the hair grow out. My only concern is that we can't go much shorter, because i'm worried that when i start picking this up in sections, they are going to be all over the place. So we take that one section short at the front and then you think like say we started at the front here and we started going a bit shorter. My only worry is, as we get to here, it's going to be really short and everything's going to look really short, because this is what's making it look longer: okay and these corners here. So what i would suggest is take a tiny little bit off the front. Okay, just to make it more manageable, but what you need in this you need to. You need to have a lot of texture and a lot of movement put into this to make the curve it's going to bring out the wave it's just so thick and it obviously hasn't been thinned out or anything like that. So i had no texture put in. So it will look really big at the moment, but as soon as you start cutting the shape into it, you can get away with leaving pretty much all the length as long as you work, i'm going to work with the razor on this, because your hair is Just so thick man, it's perfect for this kind of look, but if you've got just that kind of loose lifting texture on top, where you can just just push it back or you can just let it fall naturally - and it looks good, that's the that's the thing I want to do say if i was you balance the top take the corners in because it is this is the thing that's making it look long if you take them in the hair, won't look that long and then obviously we can wait down to whatever show If you wanted to skin, if you want to go to zero yeah, it's your call mate whatever you want to do, yeah yeah! Is that all right back inside? What are you thinking of doing how short you want to go down to skin or yeah, see i kind of kind of like the darkness here, but okay yeah, just skin, about a bit low? Okay? Why don't you think of doing maybe something more like a taper fade, then in a sense, so you know the side. Bands can fade out to nothing and the neckline can fit that's not on, and that way we can keep and preserve more darkness and more more length through here. Yeah yeah basically drops down in that angle. There like that, so it drops all the way down. So from this point here all the way down to the neck - it's kind of skin, but everything else. So maybe we'll start on like a three blend it down, but then we'll fade out the sides and the neck, because that way, you'll have that contrast of skin. But also we'll you need to maintain some length here as well. All right, sound, good, yeah, cool, michael wait, we'll get on you off and we'll get you started all man all right guys. So this is all washed and conditioned now um what i've noticed as well, because it was very hard to tell at the start, that's why it's always good to wet it or wash it at least wet it down, at least but washing. It is perfect right because what i've noticed on michael's um buyer's crown his head is very flat, concave quite a lot there. So we need to balance that out. So all that length isn't helping at all. But if you see where it's been cut, it's probably just from i did a bit of a diy aircraft. To be honest, that's what's making it look worse. But if you look at that, look at the anglers it's it's taken here because of all the bulk at the back here and how long and how flat it goes there. That is how the back of michael's head's looking on his profile just making this bit protrude out, even though there's nothing there to make it protrude it's making. It work like that, because there's so much weight under this. That'S why, when you get the head shape place it on the back of the accepted bone like that and then press into the neck, and that is the angle you want to be coming out at when you're blending it of this head shape. So what i'm going to do first, is i'm going to horseshoe section michael's here um. I will just start at the top, but we're not doing much to the top it's more about balance and shape. So i think i want to focus on the back and sides. First, getting that head shape in and then just connecting the top and texturizing it so back and sides is the main focus for me today. Is i'm going to bring this lower down towards the fringe and raise it up slightly towards the crown? Just because there's a lot of weight there? We are going to leave some weight in it, but i'm just raising up a little bit towards the crown here, because there's so much bulk and just the shape of michael's head on the sides, as you can see, concaves in there all the way around the concave. So i want to expose that now and then actually blend it that in visually, while i'm working on it, so look at that now from the side we need to be working in this shape. Okay, so i'm going to start my number three, i'm going to finish. My number three about there so that way we can really start to build up that corner that shape at the back. All right right, so number three guard on: leave it down three and a half. I always start on the half guard. You comb just a slight angle like that and put it into where you want it to end you just wake up to the comb like so okay. What that will do that will end it exactly where you want to start just feeding that hair in to the clipper. The thing is, it gives a bit of a natural blend as well. It doesn't make it too harsh. You see down to my closed guard now. Also, my number three just removing all that now before i start doing any of the any of the fading on the neck and the side bends, i'm going to blend this in now lifting it up now i want to pull this out to remember the angle. I'M coming out, i want to maintain some weight there or elevate it nice, small sections, just getting a little closer and closer down to michael's head until i reach number three: we've created that nice flatness bit around this here, but we've made that not look as flat Because the point where we're leaving the weight - it's sitting nice to the neckline as well, now imagine that taper, when it's right down to skin it'll, have more of an acute angle. It'Ll look really good. Just my apologies as well. I still haven't found a white clipper comb, i'm trying to find white ones in this speck. I need to get in touch with matador and see if he can hear please see if he can give us a white comb because uh i can't find one anywhere and you know when you get so used to certain combs, so any barbs out there we'll know What i mean by that there's a this is like my go-to poem, so it's very hard to to try and change pop off here and here's a stick now. So what i'm going to do next is i'm going to edge out the hairline. Okay, some shape up the temple area. This will really really help when it comes to feeding on the side, then. So, while we're there, we've done the edging i'm going to start my fading on the side. So i'm going to start from the sort of where the b it starts, we're going to fade it into the beard as well. We'Ll do that line up to just before the ear like so make that up to my zero line like so i've got my shavers, i'm gon na work on that as well. We'Ll work down just into the beard 0.5 teeth in an inch way through the lever working through the leader till i get down to zero, just working a bit lower down pulling away from just going in and pulling away. So just literally scooping it very very lightly. Number one guard leave it down into one half and just flick it up and out, like so using the corner now and just working through the lever. So i get down to an open five half guard an open fire guard now leave it down and then just really use the corner just to work on any darker areas. You want to perfect i'm just working through the lever, as i see fit, i'm just going to work a bit of a comb now just blend that out up into the angle earlier watch the other side, trimmers open to my zero shavers same technique as before. Off too thin with a beard a little bit flatter, then working through the lever move it down to one half move on to my half guard now, just to go over any darker areas at the corner. Make that a bit more seamless back onto my cupboard comb? Now, just to refine we'll do we'll finish off with our lining out and we'll work onto our fade on our neck now as well, and down just about the ear i'll work it down here, zero line in and to our trimmers working that up to our zero And then onto our shavers or knock.5 put them in the same shape as the zero line just like curve up on the right and the left making through the lever now into my number. One guard now make them up and off just working one half just up and working through the lever again just working through the lever. I'Ve skipped up to the the one and a half straight away as well. I'M doing more of an ascendant blend on this because it just it's a bit more harsher. So i think, if you do it from a zero line up, it's just a bit harsher a bit more aggressive and i think that's what really works for this look, especially on michael's hair as well. You know it goes from dark to light so much like his scalp's quite light and his eye. His hair is very dark, so it shows off a lovely taper. Half guard open clip over home again using a clipper comb now. So this is a wall clipper comb. This, for me, goes down it's like a warm one and a half. I always think it's quite nice blending out from that as well, a bit more harsh so through the top, i'm going to wet this down now now again, what we were thinking about the start. I'Ve got to take that into account when it comes to tops, don't forget what we spoke about in the consultation and the middle at the apex of michael's. Hair is shorter than everywhere else from what it looks like. So what i need to do is try and match it. I don't want to match it but try and make it less noticeable. That'S the key! What i'm gon na do because there's a lot of weight and a lot of bulk through the corners here, i'm not going to cut them horizontally, i'm actually going to cut them vertically. Okay, so i'm going to take so center part section shoot down the middle from the nose, always use the small side of the teeth, pull it about, lift your head up for me and there we go put it right back. This is going right down through the crown into the back like so so from the front. My closure session is so so minimal. She'Ll work straight from the front. I'M connecting that topic to the middle bit. There. Okay, see there's already a guide here, because how short the middle is, let's pick it up there we go nice, small sections and the reason i'm doing vertical sections on this, because i want to take the length off the corners because it doesn't really need it. There'S that much weight not much length here is that we started building up by horizontally, cutting it, because when we start to build up, went through these bits here when we pull it across we're over directing it is that because the middle's so short, it's just still Going to have the bulk on the corner, so i want to take the bulk of the corners off your fingers out and the guy becomes more visible, i'm just going to work down and around to the center done so that corner away. So it's a lot shorter through this and now this is becoming the longest bit. I'M gon na start from the back and use the guide from behind the guy from underneath as well. I'M just gon na work all the way around follow the same process as before. I just give myself more guidelines following the guides: yeah come straight out there we go so what we've done. We'Ve made the top look longer. We took them corners and now so that should be easy to style. Now. What we'll do is to break up that center part that we cut it into i'm gon na work through the top like so i'm just taking a little bit off lightly. Michael wanted just a little bit off, but literally just a little bit just to take a slight little point off there. I don't want to take anything off that okay, get to the back, see there's the guide from the previous section of michael kors, i'm going to cut to that there, the crown take that little point off just cutting into it as well. Just because the only real side - that's all the only way apart - that's short, is the middle. Last but not least, it's a little point here. This is the primary shape. Okay, this is the shape that the hair goes cut into. The secondary shape is what we're doing. Next, when we're using the rays of the texturizer okay right, so secondary shape, now razor starting from the back, i'm gon na work from the bottom up to the top. Just in maybe three slices, okay, not loads off, quite quite don't be sort of too aggressive with it. Don'T have too much of an angle with the rage, just maybe just off from being straight up like that, because i'm trying to thin it out, make it collapse and make it stand up. Okay, so there'll be little bits that i cut halfway through the little bits that i've cut the bottom and through here i want to start for root, lift to the front, so i'm working it so maybe just over halfway. Okay, i'm working come in the direction. You want this to sit on this, to go from the front to the back like that, so it sits over nicely another section just off center. I want this to go forwards now, just to add again just a little bit of texture, i'm just cutting it away. That'S going to force the hair to fall in different directions through the center, just starting from the back, i'm just going to raise it. It was just slightly at the root just to help that collapse a little bit more. So that's that short base and standing up too much now, i'm gon na fill up this bit at the back here. I'M just gon na do a bit of razor over combs. Just working through like that just to keep the shape in there, as you can see, we've cut in but just take away that bulk underneath here, it's just moving in different ways and then just sliding through the blend like so and that's pretty much it really. What i'm going to do now, i'm going to dry it off and use a vent brush to dry it off with just to make it quite loose, so the hair the air gets through it and just show like what we can do with it. The side of the front using the brush just wrapping it around the hair, let's bring it through. It'S not going to take any wave out for them just going to accentuate what we've done just drawing it different ways from right to left, left to right forwards. Loads of different ways just to make it really easy for michael to start so when you dry it in different ways throughout the heat process. So when you use the hair dryer, if you're driving from left to right up and down forwards and back as it comes to styling, it bits will be dried in different ways. So it'll just give you a bit more of a messier natural finish more than if you were just trying it solely back into like a pompadour. For example, there you go how's that looking for you mate yeah, it looks nice. Doesn'T it you still have a natural wave in there? Can you see the difference in the shape now that we've took it all out here, kept a bit of length at the front more balanced? The back doesn't even look too short now because everywhere else has been cut into it and then you've got your taper fade on the sides in the back i'll show you the back in a sec. Listen man, great cool man. Thank you very much. Man you're. Very welcome so, if we just recap um when michael sat down, he liked the length like the wave in it, but just didn't, know how to manage it and maintain it and felt like it was just a bit too hard for him. So and he'd also had to go, cutting it himself as well, okay, which was actually not bad okay. It wasn't that bad. Okay, again i've seen million signs with this right um, but what had happened was at the back of the apex here. The apex is at the very top of the head. You feel like with the head dips. There was just a little bit too short, but it looked shorter because all of this was really long. So what we did was we horseshoe sectioned the top and focused on the back and sides. Just got a number three and a half into a three on the back inside and then we did taper fade so again, tapering out the side bends into the neck as well, just right down to the skin um and with the way the rounded head is from. My head, it's quite high, so i kind of elevated the length through here and kind of kept quite a bit of length through the corners that i could just balance the top into cut the top and work down the center part and then vertically, all the way Around start on the right and then bringing it right around to the left point cut into the little peak, you're left with and then just add the razor loads, different texture, different ways, horizontal section root, lift et cetera, et cetera and blow dry. That off. Just with my fingers a little bit of airbrush at the front, but mainly with your fingers, to create that more lived-in look that was it happy here. Oh yeah, thanks man. Thank you very much. Uh

Ryan Jones: Great cut!! However, can I make a suggestion?? On these videos, could you please wear a light-colored shirt? The reason is if your client has dark hair and you're also wearing a black shirt, on video it's difficult to see exactly what you're doing. Thanks! Love these videos!
