"I Love Haircut - I Love Hairstylist"

Life yeah, I'm gon na, show you guys too, like in a good palette, which is like more like short, more like I'm gon na show you guys today, I'm so excited to show you very good. So, let's catch everybody up a little bit on where you're at right now and so you've already cut the back a little bit. Haven'T you? Yes, how was it like about this length? You know I already cut it almost two and a half an inch already yeah. Then I cut what I did I cut. You know more everything's, like you know, a type of a little Hospital bone. I did the square layer so which is like I did everything like Square layer with the scissor to bring bring it straight to flat and bring it everything to corner. Here I like to be a little bit length, but same thing. I want to be like kind of rounded so what I did. I bring it all the way from to like corner right here to like straight to the leg, very good. It'S just go back in and say hi to people that are joining now so hi. Everyone. Thank you for joining us. This is Sally Richland, and this is my wonderful business partner. We are here right now in L.A, and this is our amazing Academy and uh. We have a beautiful space here in La it's called Sr hair Society. We are salon and Academy, and I stood right now in the academy, and this Space is really all about. You know education and that's what we really really believe in Shannon does amazing cut and color classes and then all of my Sr education, haircut and color classes and policies. So we would love to see you here in 2023 to come and take class with us. Let'S um just go back over to Shannon and you're going to start cutting the sides now right, yeah, I'm gon na cut you in the uh. What I do, I always like to cut fun the body cutter with the like this short shot. You know more of that. Look because I like to show a client to see whether the banks, you know the front section first, so they they're kind of a no wedding yeah. So you can actually start in the bangs right. Yes, so what I do like I'm just gon na be a really quick, uh sectioning, like triangle section right here, so I'm trying to make it online here how sure I'm gon na go. Then this is my guideline to end the real I'm gon na go like around it. This back section right here, it's gon na, be that I'm gon na cut it like shoulder here, and this is super cool right now. Isn'T it super in fashion yeah? I have a lot of time who want to be this haircut, so you put in a little guide there in the front for us anything that you look for when you're doing kind of a fringe work is anything ever surprise. You I like to be more like shorter, to longer like side more like softer like more cartoon Bang Yeah, because you don't want to be too like you know, some people looks good and you know kind of modern, looking a swirler, but it's not for everybody yeah. So I think this haircut is really popular for, like an identity generation yeah they love to be like your list. You know simple like that, so I mean it's called a lot of things. Isn'T it so Molly? It'S almost a shag. It'S a wolf cup! I mean. There'S so many different names for it, and I think you know there's so many different variations of it, but this is something um that I think just works on. So many people, doesn't it right yeah and it's more like easier for them. You know if this haircut doesn't really need it any um. This haircut really doesn't need anything like um, your favorite part, and that's it. You know very good yeah now. This is a haircut that you are doing at our Thrive event. Right, yes and something similar yeah. I'M teaching this here, but actually you know I have with this as a technique with it can be medium sharp. It can be like in a long shot, which is like, like I do, that a lot in a little different, but I cut like I teach you for it, so I'm reading and long yeah in a series. So let's talk a little bit about Stripes. So we really want to um get our education out there, but we also love to support other independent Educators, and you know it's all about trying to get people a little bit more back together, trying to get that Community back together. And so we have a Thrive session show for those of you that have followed me for a long time. We'Ve had Thrive, special shows in Denver in Arizona in Las Vegas. In Seattle we haven't done it for a couple of years, but obviously because of coving. So we're so excited to have it here in L.A there are a few tickets left. So if you are interested in coming, it is on January, the 8th and 9th. So it's next week, um, we would love to see you. We'Ve got amazing artists that are going to be here. We have Pillow by Carlos Carlos, keeps us all really happy every morning with these funny memes, but he also does a beautiful, beautiful, hair color as well. We have Shannon myself. We have some guest artists to do a big evening presentation and, of course we have the hair braid minta. So if you would like to come and see us, you can just check out our Link in the bio either Shannon hair or Sammy Waterson, and you know, hair braid. I think just put it out there as well. Haven'T they. So I think that the links are probably on there too, but it's a two-day Extravaganza of amazing education. So we would love to see you here. I know now Shannon it's looking amazing, so I'm trying to think I do use a lot of like see-through carbon or razor cut too. I love to use three different tool, but yeah. I just want to show you guys, scissor Cup. First, I'm gon na maybe change it to like a feather wager, which is, I use a lot of weather razor for this haircut yeah. So I'm trying to be around and everything here. It'S like going to cut some person. You know you free some people looks good and really modern look and I look like I always one way, yeah one way, so this is a really cute haircut like I love to do that, especially like you know again like in degeneration they like to be really Like simple easy style, you know what I mean um. If anyone has any questions, then you are welcome to ask. We will try and post some things to Shannon uh. Let'S talk a little bit, Shannon about um about your influences and what you're kind of into at the moment you know, I know you're really into fashion right yeah. I love the fashion. I think the passion makes Lego, like you all know, what's gon na be inside or not, but I feel like in a hair turn into more like 2000. You know which is, I start. I started a lot of her hair, like you know, go to school, so I think I'm so happy that you know coming back again, so I feel, like you know now I really like. Even what I did. You know a lot of technique. I feel I'm trying to like change a little bit, so what I'm doing right now, I'm gon na do a tenor cut, so you can use like scissors, but but you can use so also like in a razor cut with that too, a few people saying hi So that's really nice hi from Australia. I found Toronto. Thank you guys for joining so uh I'll. Just recap. If you're just joining us now, then um we are working with Shannon bra uh. Shonura is my business partner, I'm here at the SR hair Society. So I've had my business as our education for about 10 years and Shannon has an amazing Salon. Um called Shannon hair and we have come together to work on this new project, so we're here in our new salon and Academy space in La we're in Koreatown. It'S just amazing, um super hip area right now of La isn't it and we've come together because you go through believe in education, so we are having a huge event on January, the 8th and 9th here in the salon space. We are at 10, 000 square foot space, so we have a lot of different Educators that are going to be doing classes. We have so many exciting things and, of course, the hair braids hang out as well. So we'd love to see you if you are interested in just that Community, maybe you're feeling um like you've, worked really really hard over Christmas and you deserve a little bit of Education right right. Are you excited for our environment? I'M so excited because this is the first time you're, not actually I'm going with you yeah. I'M not really doing my hair since that, but even this in America like but uh, I'm so excited to see how we do it. Yeah it's gon na be exciting. Well, I hope everyone's having an amazing holiday period and our hairdressers work so hard during the run-up to Christmas and Thanksgiving so um how's it been in your salon. You guys are really busy right. Yes, it was really busy for Christmas time and now, like this, this week is kind of a hairdresser taking vacation. Now, yes, actually we have like only like, maybe board here, just working at something yeah yeah, we'll just get. They need a vacation in my car. So I think we should just take a second to um talk about Vivian, Westwood, Vivian Westwood, of course, uh world famous amazing, UK designer she did pass away yesterday, and so I know for me: um she's, you know real hero of mine and someone that I look Up to as a woman and also as a as a business person, so that was that was free stuff, but I think um. This celebration, um of her life, is coming up and I think that people are really going to start to re-look at her work and even if you're not familiar with her, then I would say you've got to do some research because she's such an inspiration for fashion. But also for hair as well right Pub was such a big inspirational hair and we still see all of that in her hand, hello keep turning around. Let'S see what you're doing. What are you doing now, I'm going to do a top section right here, the palm area. So what I do I always like to do on the part of the disconnect I like to disconnect that so actually that right here right here, I'm gon na get to this length to be like more longer than maybe like. I want to say two and a half inch longer than previous, so I like to kind of um everything. What I do I like to be a natural client doesn't have to be like in a work work so much. You know they're doing because some people don't know how to how do you do their hair, all right cool. So what I do so I'm gon na go a little bit, so my section is going to be like a reading section so, which is I'm gon na. Go like this way, you know, so I like to be a little bit like soft and rounded, so I like to be like kind of see how you can get it like more length in it. You can see a lot of movement in my hair, so I like to be undercut looking nice, your model's got a lot of hair right. She has a lot of hair. What kind of um is this kind of Ideal for for this kind of texture and density? Then is there anyone you would or wouldn't do it on? Do you do this on curly, hair or wavy hair yeah, the haircut this haircut, you can get a curly hair is really cute too. I love that any any um I don't wan na. I don't want to recommend like too thin hair yeah yeah I like to be more to like kind of more one length. You know, texture kind of power feels better for them. It'S gon na turn around a little bit. Sorry, thank you perfect. So I know that you are originally from Korea right and um. Korea at the moment, obviously is just super cool, and it's actually at the Forefront of a lot of Trends right now, isn't it and fashion so everyone's mad for South Korea. Right now, my queen is like everybody want to be like now, Kpop style like which is I really like that, because I love uh opinions and a haircut style. So what I'm doing I'm trying to like make it like something mixed together and um, but I think, from a trainer's point of view, we're really seeing a big influence from that right now. Aren'T we yeah I'm trying to go down to like teaching portfolias and by the way to kind of technique? Yeah they don't really do so much Radiohead there yeah. So I think that's really cool like to bring it more like this technique with the ranger cut. So I'm excited for that next year, Sally and I we're gon na go there to like. Oh take it over. Like that's my dream, because I I want my my parents, you know they still live there, so yeah. Oh, that would be so great when okay, now I'm gon na go. So what are you thinking about when you're kind of taking your sections and so what I do like the front section? What I'm gon na do I'm gon na bring it everything like Center. So I like to be more layer but the the side. The way here light is still. I want to be like a more disconnected yeah. You know so the Top's going to be longer. It'S disconnecting it's going to fall over the top. Yes, I like your avocados. I don't like to be like perfectly layered all over yeah I like to be like some different uh to make it all different. You know, um style in our client can yeah, so that really adds to the movement removes density like okay. So this is your first section yeah I like to do like pivoting, section yeah, so I'm bringing at everything like pivoting, but I bring it or everything for like in a center. Yes and then how do you make your guide? What'S my guide, this is my God. You know back right here: that's gon na be my guide to cut perfect cut. Actually I do a lot of like cut yes and I dry it. Then I drive a lot with the texture very nice. If you're just joining us, this is Shannon raw. You can see uh Shannon's work at your Instagram right at Shannon Raw Hair. Is that right, yeah, r, h a everyone you can see. You can see um all of Shannon's amazing work on her Instagram. You can also come and take classes with her. If you go to uh Sr, hair Society page and also our website um, both myself and Shannon teach classes here in LA - and it's really nice, because we kind of complement each other. We you know have different kind of approaches and skill sets. So if you're done with a certain typo class, you will go to a different class. It'S really cool! Isn'T that right. We'Ve also just opened Our Salon here in La so we are looking to take on a lot of new graduates from school. So we're really looking for people that want to be mentored. Maybe you've just come out of school recently and you feel, like you, need some more finishing skills, so we're looking for a group of young graduates that are going to be trained by us. Um we're going to be doing a six-week mentorship starting in January and we're going to train you for six weeks and then you're gon na start to go onto the floor. Uh still with continue training and then become a fully fledged stylist on the floor with us. In six months, so if you're interested in that as well, you can always message me on my Instagram page at sallyrogerson and you can always reach out on our website as well. But I think that what's happened recently is so many people went to school during covid that there's a lot of people out there a lot of graduates out there that maybe just feel like they need a bit more mentoring before they go on the floor. So again, that's something to think about. We are looking for new Young stylists, not necessarily young. I mean uh recently graduating stylists. You can be any age, you want to be um, but anyone that's graduated in the last couple of years or if you're a stylist and you just feel a bit lost, maybe you're in your salon and they're not giving you the training that they talked about, or Maybe the original training program um. We really really believe in education and that's what we dedicate ourselves to Shannon right. We would love to hear from you. You can come by the salon and come and check us out anytime. If you live in the LA area, we are in Koreatown, looking good, Shannon yeah everything keep reading section to like we get everything tough yeah here then inside I go back to side and I bring it everything to the I bring it um over directly like um. The radio station, so I did a little bit gradually here to connect with the side. It'S a very simple haircut. Actually, this one. You know if I do this haircut, it's like really quick haircut, but the the light makes me a little nervous. So this is I've been trying to get Shannon to do this for a long time folks. So we're really excited and happy to have you on here and be doing your first pet friendly, live and I'm sure that everyone's gon na love it kind of have to see like what's going on. First, I like to use my finger first and then uh. Let me tell you where to pack in a little basic first and I always see like 30 um to like just some in a product. You know whatever your favorite product you have then just kind of you have to see what's going on, then I do textualizing anything else and like kind of texture paint, so you normally kind of would dry. The Smoothie thing is so yeah. Nothing is in my finger dry first, then then, especially that yeah, this haircut I like to. I don't like to use it so much like blow dry and flat brush and anything I like to do this, and then I use a better razor to like cut this detail. You know so I feel, like you know, that's how crying they're going to live every day, that's kind of that's their lifestyle. You know, because the client didn't know how to use style this. I don't like to use a round brush for this. I just like that. You know, maybe the people can use a little bit like curling and the flat iron. I never realized standing here in there and that's it right looks beautiful. Do you want to use the dryer a little bit? Okay, foreign? Okay? Yes, I go like that. So I see like, if I see if I want to go like break down, I just like break down with the feather laser, like I just like to be really deeper, like I put my feather razors really inside, and I just do a c one here and I go. I know next section because I like to like break down like this. I don't like it too. I don't like too wispy, but I like to be like more separation separation right here. This is a kind of fun part for me. I feel like when I do this, I feel like um, I'm doing it like hairdressers, definitely uh. Turning to more art, like back in the day like in a hairdresser, you know we don't. We don't feel like we're honest, but I feel, like I'm honest with this moment, so I don't want to section it. I just have to see what's going on first and I'll just go for it. If I feel like you know, Lauren's hair is kind of really flat hair. I just you know, use my finger and especially that fine girl right here I like to be more like really that's where it gets bulky, isn't it there. I like to be break down here and one here two here, then I go like you know, side and make it like kind of triangular like software right here, I feel like you have to like you know, make it like. I feel like this is like art. You know what I mean like so also client. I do so many kind every day, I'm the I'm hairdresser I like to be hairdresser more than educator. Then I feel like you know, that makes more being a good educator, because I know what kind I want to be. You know what I mean yeah I like to be both, but then uh, I'm never gon na give up. You know a client Behind the Chair, like I do like all day. 7 A.M. Client to like you, know, six six pm, but I'm crazy a lot of generations. They don't want to be. Like me happy. I love it so, especially when I do this with the client client. They love what I do. Okay, they like to see like they like they. They don't like to like pay that you know haircut advice. I have because they see that, like you know, I take time they know like you know, I really make it like Holiday World, then they feel like oh you're, like yeah. I can see your body or artistic, you know that makes sense yeah. So I like structure, something you know. If I teach you something like basic Foundation, if I know fundamental but there's something this Center, I don't want to be like you know, uh too structure. I like to eat natural and organic, so you can you guys can see. Like my section, I just do like you know whatever I want to see. I feel like in a hair, speak to me like Hairspray to me, like you know what you know, you know things I have to go for it. That'S why I like color to me, like you know, I'm I'm doing you know a lot of organic. You know polias and natural Dimension or technique like that. You know color because I think you know color and the haircut is like to me like same Betty. You have to be like really natural. You don't want to be like, like you know, try really hard to make it like looks good just watching. Well, like all right, Lauren, let's go around oops perfect. Looking beautiful, I think one of the biggest questions I get asked in class is like how do you know when, when you finish with freedom and with finishing work, I think people really struggle with that? Don'T they is it a Feeling? Yeah, I mean I think you have to, and I I feel like that, like you know, you you're naturally born you know you're artistic side I feel like you know there is a you're. You don't have to bond like some people are born like the artistic way. Like but they some people for me, like I feel like you know, I try really hard to training my eye. That makes sense because I feel like I try like it, makes myself to be like okay. So what I have to train myself to like more what it is, I think, most important part. A lot of people you know forget about education is most important because I take so many class, the class. That'S why I know Sally and I know Gerard. You know that her brain jar he's my he's, my mentor too. So if, if I don't have a lot of mentors, then I think I'm gon na have a really hard time to like to make myself to be like in our office foreign, like so many different ways. But I I asked her yesterday like Lauren. You want to be like pixie and she said no. I just didn't want to be more like it's just like you know, um. So what I do like this is like two uh pretty one triangle right here: the three a second triangular here I always check in a second one, and I just cut a little bit of corner right here, and this is my third triangle. I I think, suddenly, I'm getting a little bit better last shape in my hand. Oh, you look like a tall natural like I feel like like Sally, and I said yeah I'm gon na be like shaking my hand because I'm nervous, no, you just have to do it. You have to go for it and you know what you have to think about and for everybody out there is, you know people want to see what you're doing. We all are one big community and we want to share ideas right yeah. I also really much comfortable, but actually my partner on Sunday she's teaching me like my teacher training. That makes me like more like okay, like I feel like, I can do it well. Anybody that wants training then send to me. We have loads of teaching classes starting in January in the back way. Here still are like what I'm gon na do a minute just to section it out yeah. I like I like to like a lot of different way. I want to be that assassin and I wanted tuning guy in London and Paris and I want to see changing like which is a French French haircut in Paris, and I learned so many so many education myself, but they I noticed that, like you know, you know You have to you have to really you know um, I feel like I have to share with other people what I know, because I I feel like you know if I don't show people so what I'm gon na do right. I'M gon na just slightly tired and I'm gon na have my own technique myself. So next year, like that's my like dream, that's you know, I feel like that's a god telling me telling me to do this. You know share with people, so I'm gon na show everything what I know. Seven, that's good! Definitely yeah! It'S looking great. What are you doing now? Then you just going back you're going over the back and kind of loosening it out yeah. So I'm just like in a breakdown like this, you know one two three here so which is a short hair, pushing a long hair. I believe that, because especially a lot of people hasn't like really a lot of hair below to Oxford reborn either. Some people has a lot of hair. You know some people don't have a hair, but you know Lauren has a lot of hair. So I like to I like to use this technique like break down to like, like body cross section. I put really like you know a razor to into it one here two here just break down a little bit, so you guys can see how different okay, this is undercut. I like to be longer, like you know the stomach right here. So it covers like you. Can see a lot of movement because, again, short hair, pushing and long hair is going to be created really natural movement, they're gon na they're gon na do their work. Thank you it's over here. I do one here two here, two three here also I'm really comfortable to use um, which is that's my favorite to use it that and I've cut, but they I feel like - and I don't show you guys so much like scissor Cuts. So a lot of people think I don't do scissor cut. So I like okay, I'm gon na use the scissor cup with a feather right yeah. So you've done your full haircut right and you're just going back through. Do you finish yeah, so Crown area also, I'm gon na do exactly the same section, the vertical section. So what I do is a little bit. Thicker section, that's fine one here two here break down looks like I did too much, but trust me. This is more like, which is not too much, and I need definitely need it, because if you don't do this, it's not that it's compared just gon na be lazy and sitting there together just create some air inside the haircut right right. This is my happy moment. I don't know I'm like crazy, like in love doing hair like I can't stop, so I'm just gon na it almost almost time you guys, then I'm gon na finish. You really quick. You know so right here I'll see something like that. Whatever my mentor told me a long time ago say, I know a word and I don't need to be section it. I know where I'm going. Yeah foreign foreign looks amazing, doesn't it very nice should we stand the model up, so we can see properly come and stand up for me. Stand here and I'll take this off all right. So just do a little bit of finishing. That'S a great! If you go behind Shannon, then we can see your model perfect, yeah, that's great! That'S great, wonderful, shower or shave! My head right!

Daisy Rosario: Love it!
