Caroline Mutoko: Ladies, Weave Her Alone!

For some, the call for straight hair that's manageable cannot be underscored.

For others, they're done with the "creamy crack" and want to embrace their natural curls. For some, the braids and corn rows are a godsend. That's me.

After barely 3 weeks of living with my full afro (and it is large) and trying the wet hair and cantu gig and then a curly weave, I have discovered I feel alittle like an imposter in a weave and I can't be bothered to deal with my big mass of hair every morning.

Long live corn-rows, long live Abuja 2/27

You Hey, I have never seen so much conversation and buzz around something as basic as hair, and especially the fact that you know about a couple of weeks ago. I let the while I love out, I used to be called that meet anybody who went to school with me in the telling that's what I used to be called, but here's the other thing that I'm very very honest about that. I don't believe the texture of my hair. Is that awesome? Yes, I have that encumber. We call it c'mon in Kiku, you call it chimera. I don't know what the rest of the communities call it, but it means a little water and gel and it will curl. But it's also rubbish because, like now it's raining it will blow up into a poof of madness. You know it can't be combed and just it's garbage alright, but for somebody else once they see the gel the water, oh my god, it's lovely, it is, but it is not. How do I say this? I actually have a career right and it is not wetting. My hair every morning it cannot be, but it's it's it's the comments and especially the ones on my Facebook page you've got to go there. You will laugh so heartily you wonder where those chicks have been and whether you can have lunch with most of them, because they're so honest and the only thing I'm glad about the conversation around my hair was - is that literally people became free to say I cannot Do the natural thing, but here's the thing I actually want to tell you right now there is a girl or a woman who for her the creamy crack is how we do this, do it and do it to the maximum right now, there's a girl who's just Discovered the natural hair movement and she's got she Oz in the evening to do her bantu knots, baby girl by the time you do your last knot. I'Ve been asleep for two and a half hours. Okay, do it and by the way, bask in it right now, there's a woman who's very much like me who her and abuja 227, our friends. We cannot get enough of our cornrows. Do that there's a woman who cannot have less than 21 inches worth of weave on her head and she rocks it until all of you on to weep, I would suggest you weave her alone. Okay, what I can't get over women is this need to package everybody into one little box. We all belong into this box and it's this size and you must fit here and if you don't fit here there, people actually have a fit be and let be if your thing is a creamy crack. It'S your thing leave the girl with a bantu knots alone. If your thing is a weave and you can't understand how the rest of us can live, in fact my mother told me: I had Dean and corners for exactly a year and one month, and you can't understand us, leave us alone. If you love your weave, love and rock your weave, but women need to stop judging other women based on their own beauty standards. I don't want to be you. I am me and when I die, I want to come back as me that that's the whole thing about who we are, and obviously I'm in a season in my life, and we will talk about seasons where certain things are not a priority. But there is a woman for her right now, her hair and how much time she spends on it is a priority it isn't for me. I actually have things I do with my time and, like I said, actually, wake up every morning. Gee, I don't know, put a little conditioner and wetness and then why don't know jealous a little I'm like have the coziest and then some of them over. My as I cannot, I actually do have a career, but that is me that by no means sets a standard for any other woman be and let be, and rock your beauty by your standards with your bad self. Take that selfie and love it, and if 200 people don't love it whatever. No, whatever okay so enjoy you and forget about me and by the way in our two weeks you know my lines are gon na be back. A big job misses me and I miss a VJ 227 subscribe.

Bella Bells: I feel so rejuvenated after watching this conversation. I had an argument with a friend over this exact same topic. Apparently telling her I can’t wet my hair everyday since I need to be at work pissed her off. It’s been 3 weeks and we haven’t communicated because she says she feels hurt that I do not take her advice seriously. This Hair topic is huge so thanks again for tackling it .

Wanjiru Mburu: Yasssss honey preach..... I have been natural for 2 years heading to 3 and love it. Through my IG page @fuschia_kurls I am sharing my journey. However, I have never and will never judge another lady on how she should wear her hair. I have been every girl well apart from the weave one never worn one. . The Abuja girl that had been me for three years whole living in Mombasa, the creamy Crack girl. Yes that has also been me. And I am about to be the 14inch lacefrontal, full body wig girl. It's just hair...so long as its healthy do you mama.

Faith Kibiku: This needs to be on national TV as an advert, cause people are tripping about other people's hair choices, you'd think natural hair makes people more African nkt!!!!

Nelly Rimuri: There's also the economics of hair and the hair and beauty industry thrives on making women feel insecure. As a Woman who did the natural hair thing for a minute,I will tell you its not only time consuming but super expensive. Daytime robbery. The 50million ya kcb ya Thika has nothing on the dime and time we spend on hair and beauty alone☹
