Rit color remover is a great product designed to remove colors from fabrics without having to use harsh chlorine. Bleach. Regular bleach damages the fibers in fabric. So, if you go to read, I them in a different color afterwards, your results may not be consistent or may not. Turn out how you're expecting them to color remover works on cotton, linen silk, wool, rami rayon and nylon and leaves a blank slate that is ready to be dyed and here's how you use it start by washing your fabric in warm soapy water then boil a pot Of water once it is simmering, add a package of Rit, color, remover and stir. You can also use color remover in the washing machine, but the stove top method is probably going to give you the best results because of your ability to sustain the heat, wet your fabric and then add it to the bath of water stirring. Until you have reached your desired results, which should take about ten to thirty minutes, I tried this method on a variety of clothes to show you how it works. The first item I removed color from was a purple pair of pajama pants. The pants themselves are made out of cotton, but I realized, after I removed the color that the thread did not change at all. So this is an important thing to know about clothing oftentimes. The thread used to sew together. The garment is synthetic and cannot have the color removed. The next garment was a cotton polyester blend that has a brightly colored pattern on the whole shirt. This was the least successful garment in this batch. The trim of the shirt had its color removed, while the body stayed pretty much the same. It was definitely a little surprising considering. Cotton was the main fiber that made up this blend, but it is important to note that you may not always be able to remove the color with this method, depending on the material. For the last three articles of clothing, we ended up doing two rounds of color remover. This black shirt came out well after two rounds, but it still wasn't as light as some of the other items. The second round didn't remove the pattern from these pants, even though they are cotton. It'S possible that they're actually a poly cotton blend, but RIT does say that it may not remove patterns and prints. After the first rounds, the jeans came out a bright, yellow color, which was really surprising. So after trying again, the results were much better. If you do want to use the color on blue jeans, keep in mind that RIT states it will not work on the indigo color of most jeans and there you have it thanks for watching this OFS project like and subscribe to our channel for more crafting videos Tips and tricks

Laura: Love how you showed us what happens to different clothes after doing it! So helpful!!!

Niko CL: Very informative and exactly what I was looking for! Thank you :)

SaritaV Pinup: This is perfect - exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

erepsekahs: A very good, surprisingly honest presentation. Excellent, thank you.

Susan Marie: It's important to remember that this dye remover will not remove indigo dye. If you have yarn or fabric that includes indigo even as just one component of the color (such as green or purple), the dye remover take out everything but the indigo and you'll probably end up with blue. I crocheted a top using size 3 cotton in a mossy green, then decided I didn't like the color. So, I used the dye remover and was surprised to end up with a light blue top. Love it, but didn't expect it!

7 7: Great video strait you the point & very informative! Thanks!

spiritfox674: Hello! While I do not want to remove color completely from a piece of clothing that I have, I want to lighten the color! Would that be possible with this method?? The grey color is a bit darker than I would like and I'm using this for a cosplay, thank you in advance! :)

Sheryl Ferraro: Hi there! Thank you for such an informative video. I really appreciate that you take the time to answer questions too. I bought a vintage chiffon nightgown from eBay and was surprised by the color that it actually turned out to be! The photos showed it as a nice soft light medium shade of pink but the actual color looks like a day-glow color! Very Mod. Bright and leaning towards orange! I should have asked to return it. Not a good color for me at all The fabric is nylon. I have thought about dying it, even over dying it, but hesitating because it is vintage and in excellent condition. What do you think?

Lorri Garcia: Thank you for making this video. It helped me learn how to use this product and what the possible results may be! :)

Bianca Valencia: Hi! Do you think this would work on outdoor fabric? Our blue patio cushion covers are so faded from the sun that I just want to turn them white. Not sure if my cushion covers are cotton or cotton blend.

Blixxie .12: Thank you, I plan on using this method for a cosplay later this year

X X: Thanks for the video! Do you think I can get an even light color if I use this on a blue cotton shirt? There are a few yellow bleach stains on it which I would like to get rid of, but I’m not sure whether they will lighten the same as the blue color.

Alice Song: Hello! Would my gray cotton sweater be safe with this? I got some red dye stains on it thanks to something red in my laundry, but I'm worried it will also ruin the gray of the cotton sweater. There is also a print on the front, and so I'm wondering if the remover will also affect that also.

SydneyitsSydney: So basically, I’m trying to fade a lycra spandex from a purple to a nice lilac. Should I boil it? Or try it in a hot water tub first?

kay jeebs: Any chance this would work on bluing on polyester? I ordered multiple pairs of white polyester pants. Some looked snow white which was preferred, but others looked bluish white. One pair had three red dye spots, one the size of a fingernail, which stand out badly. I followed advice to bleach and boil in hopes the bluing would fade. After thoroughly rinsing, I also tried soaking in ammonia. Nothing has worked. The three red spots haven't budged and the bluing didn't even fade. I don't know what else to do. I need these and can't reorder because they are now out of stock.

Cristen Olsen: Informative! I recently worked at this using bleach And the bleach removed a lot of color but then I poured lemon juice and peroxide....And then I saw the lightI mean white!!! Finally I saw white! Lemon juice and peroxide really does the final touch!

Kia Macfee: Hi there. I recently tried to remove the colour from a dress and whilst it has removed the colour, it has left some of blue as a yellowish colour. I’m looking to re dye the dress to a dark blue. Do you think I need to use another packet of rit remover before I try and re dye it? It was blue and white striped before, and now it’s blue and sort of beige/ yellow.

Shai Ribon: can we use this on tweed fabric?

Kairi Nightingale: Hello! I am in the planning stages of a project where the end product has a long hanfu that fades to grey on the sleeves and skirt. I am inexperienced with dye so I’m not sure if it’d be best to get light material and dye everything to black, achieving the grey parts with the ombre dip dye method, or if getting black material and fading the sleeves and lower portion with the color remover would be feasible/easier. What would you suggest? (I have not decided on what fabric to use yet since I realized dying would be a factor.)

Andrea Federica: does it work on polyester?

SaltLifeGull: Very good video - thanks so much!

Crystal Munoz: would this work on polyester?

Julie Miller: Worked great! thanks

sonyamchianelli: Do you have any tips on how to remove the color from thread? I had a neon Orange shirt that turned into a light peachy color, and the thread is still orange. Any tips on how to remove the color?

Ochre Mouse: I came here after I bought a plain tan-colored shirt. It's way too close to my skin color and now I want to lighten it to a cream/white, bc I regret not buying it in white now hahaha. Thanks so much for the demo on how to use it! I'm so glad that Rit Color remover is cheap :) My shirt is 95% cotton so I think it should dye pretty good? Also, I'm just nervous if the thread seams will stay the original tan color. But I guess it's better than looking topless haha

Deanna Johnson: Is it fragrance free?

katelyn: would this affect my sweater? it’s 90% acrylic / 10% viscose i wanna know before purchasing, it’s a grey cardigan and i would like to make it off white

Xenina In California: Brilliant idea! Why the heck was I going to bleach things??

Donna B: Hi. I have dark yellow pillow cushion covers that i want to be light yellow. Can I use this product to lighten fabric color but not remove it? Thanks

CosmiCandy: Hi, I have this black striped sweater. I love the off-shoulder look it has but the black is too dark compared to the wardrobe I want to work towards. I know from other responses this works on nylon and rayon, which is partly what my sweater is made of, but what about silk?

Gonzo Balls: I would lke to remove/lessen on my dyed robe. But there are existing colored patches that I dont want to be affected by the rit remover. Is there a way I can do this?

Jeremy Salgado: Does this also get extra dye out of newly dyed fabrics? I think I set the dye wrong and now it leaks the color from the fabric and now I want to start over. Is this possible?

Xiomara Videz: How do I do this if the fabric says it's 47% polyester cotton blend?

L: I dyed a 100% cotton jacket with Rit Dye and now I want to remove it so that’s it’s the original color again. Will this method work? I didn’t use a fixative.

MoonFlowerFaerie: I tried it and everything turned an ugly grayish blue with green on 100 % cotton. It smells so toxic I had to throw away my other box. Even with the windows open and the air on, it was making me sick

TexasGemTree: The reason denim pants do not work well is if you will look at the ingredients in the pants it's usually 60% or less cotton nowadays. The stuff that's the other percent will not work well on die removal or, adding dye.

Wendy E: The unsuccessful shirt was a printed fabric, the printing is basically paint not dye. Therefore you can't remove it this way. The trim was dyed which is why it worked on that.

Pixi Hollow Jewelry: Does it work on synthetics like polyester?

Helen Gualberto: Thank you for this video keep vloging and keep safe God bless

ll0 lllo: I think it's weird that walmart stopped selling this product. Is it dangerous or something?

adrianna hailea: i just used rit to dye a pair of my white shorts pink but they turned out darker than i was expecting can i use this to lighten them up a little bit?

Ian Burkard: I am having the wackiest experience with this product. I am making a custom jacket for my daughter's doll. The jacket is medium brown, the goal is bright red. I used one pack of Rit Color Remover, added to 4-5 cups of water on the stove top. The brown jacket turned from a greenish brown to medium yellow in no time. The yellow tone seemed good enough for dying red, but I let the jacket sit for another 30 minutes to ensure that it was as light as it could get. I rinsed the jacket in hot water, and instantly the garment returned to it's dark brown color. I decided to try one more time, using new water and a new packet, only to receive the same result. After 30 minutes within RIT color remover, very hot on a stovetop... the color returned when rinsing. Really? It's a science project that I do not understand.
