Fena has also had great success in styling wigs for the stars. Her YouTube channel launched in July 2022, with new episodes dropping on Tuesdays.
Hi, I'm Fena Barbitall and welcome to The Wonderful Weaving World of Fena Barbitall.. I'Ve decided to start my series with a very familiar hairstyle to me and many around the world., The Bob.. Not only is it named after a man, but it also can be worn by one. First things: first, I'm the realest. And you're gon na need a wig.. This is not sponsored., But I've decided to go with a Charisma Wig.. Here we are, you can see that it is a lace front wig., Which means there is lace in the front of the wig. The advantage of a lace front is that there is a bit of lace right here., Which helps to disguise the fact that it's a piece of plastic on your head., If you're, just starting out in drag - and you don't want to break the bank. A wig like this will set you back about fifty dollars.. I would not go lower than that.. I know when I first started drag twenty years ago. The wigs I was buying were in the thirty five to forty dollar range., But you know times have changed. We're going to put our wig on our wig head. [ Magic, delightful sounds ] And there we go look at that., But in reality, if you're going to Do this get yourself a nice canvas head and a nice firm, stand. You're, going to take a little bit of bias tape, it's literally the cheapest thing in the world. And you're, going to lay the bias tape across the lace and then you're going to take these Little pins And you're going to place the pins through the bias tape through the lace to hold it in place., And this distributes the pressure evenly across the lace.. So when you're brushing and styling it doesn't rip. What I'm doing is just brushing through the hair. With my metal, paddle brush., These are good for plastic wigs.. If I was using a human hair, wig I'd probably use something a lot more gentle., But because this is plastic, the metal gets through those knots.. It'S good to have a full length mirror in front of you, so you can watch. Kind of like when you're at the hair salon. I'm taking my hair, I'm brushing it back to what might look like a Hilary Clinton, low, pony. And then I'm going to take My scissors, and without even looking I'm gon na look. Cutting it. This way is going to give graduated. I don't know if that's the right term. Side note, I didn't go to hair school., Not once.. I'Ve had my hair cut several times over my life, but I've. Never gone to hair school., So now we're just going to this is where the really sharp scissors come into play., And here we are we're just hacking, away. And there you have it. A bob.. I am gathering all of the hair at the crown up into a high gathered pony tail., I'm literally just going to lop some of this off., I'm not going to measure I'm not really going to even look at it that much., I'm just gon na go with My instinct and my instinct is that I wan na create a fierce layer right. Here., [, Cutting and scissoring sounds ], So this is the teasy what. And it's a brush. We got short bristles stiff, very stiff.. We have a pointy end.. This brush is going to help you to section your wig. I like to take this hair brush it back and then see where the side burn. Is I like to use that as my guide for my next layer. I'm going to take different sections of the hair to do this? Cut., I'm gon na take the side back and other side. [ 70s music ], Something that will absolutely transform this wig we're gon na tease, it. We're gon na start by teasing the crown. We are going to using our brushy doo, take the pointy pointy end and We'Re going to section off this section of hair. Using the track as a guide.. Are you ready? That is why it is very important to have this brush. Short firm bristles.. I have brushed the wig I'm going to do the front. We're going to blend the front which I have already sectioned off into the teased back: portion. [, 70s disco, music, ]. Okay now, for this best part the finishing touch., This is where things really pop off., The hairspray. We're gon na go in and lift and spray roots. Lift and spray roots., I'm partial to a freeze, spray. Right here we have the Aussie freeze, spray.. The reason why we're spraying roots is because we want the undercarriage to be nice and solid.. We want a nice solid skeleton.. Here we have the finished product., The Bob, Not just a regular bob.. This is a messy rock bob.. This is perfect for your garden party.
