Hey everybody and happy New Year first video of the year - and I am just here to do a little color today we got Jayla back again. Jayla is a regular hair. This is this is what's happening. Jayla said I'm up on this channel, don't play with her. So I am just basically parting her hair out in two sections, because it's not going to be much of a difference, but I'm just gon na do two different colors um, but they're definitely going to be close in in color, and I am just separating those parts. So I can, you know, control where I put her color now, I'm using the L'Oreal high red color in Copper and I'm using a 20 volume and when you do color no matter, I don't know if you're doing at home colors some people are so against at Home color, I feel, like I made a video on box color before so go back and watch them, but um just make sure that you start at least an inch away from the roots, because when you start at the root, if you ever done your color at Home or went to the salon - and they did not do your color correctly and your roots are a lot brighter than you're in just because the color was applied too close to the roots too early and the heat from your scalp generated the color and made it You know process a lot faster, so that's what the issue is so just take your time go far away from the roof. First then go back in once the color starts lifting and hit the roots. The sad part is, I can't remember what color I use for the top. We just went to the store and grabbed some stuff, but all right. This is what I do remember, though we have a new well. Actually it was a holiday thing, but this is our travel pouch big step on a jet with my legs crossed, and it includes our favorite. So inside you are going to find our first class to Morocco, shampoo, the first class to Morocco, conditioner, the satin Shield, serum and our glass brilliant shine. So those are our four best sellers and baby. You could buy it if you're traveling, it is TSA approved or you can get it if you just want to try it without too much commitment. It'S up to you. You know what I'm saying. So we have those that's on sale at deeper thanhair.com. They were for sale on the 12 Days of Christmas and we have some items left if you want to run up on them. So look how jayla's hair came out so pretty we were nervous. Our hair was looking so dark the whole time, I'm just putting a steady cutting collar around her neck to get ready for her germ well actually she's getting a bit of a cut today, um but yeah. We was a little nervous, but it came out exactly the way we wanted it to so sometimes you'd be looking at the color like it's not coming up and doing color is so unpredictable. Sometimes it stress you out, but it worked okay, so I'm combing her hair over the steady cutting collar. The steady cutting collar is a custom guide to help people cut straight. I just see a lot of lopsided cuts. A lot of you know I mean we can use help, sometimes so a little guy that don't be too humble to use a guide. Okay, now how I like to use mine and, oh also, clearly it comes in Gray now some people were requesting white, so I got it in Gray, so here we go. We are just going to part her hair in sections, so you can see the lines better and you see. Jayla'S hair has always been a lot. It just grows like this, where it's like thinner in the middle, so we cut it a lot to try to like keep it heavy, so I'm just zooming in, of course, I'm using my hair shreds of hair shears, and this is the line I chose to go With for her cut today, we want it to be nice and heavy, and she asked for layers, so we needed to be heavy enough at the bottom so that the layers can come in without thinning the hair. Now that that first section is done, you're just going to part out the next section and bring it on down, and once you bring it down, you need to tilt the client's head to make sure that the line is still in alignment with the guideline that you Use to cut it the first time, so I'm just going to take her head down right to the line again and I'm going to do the same thing that I did the first go around now that that part of the hair is done. I'M just going to go around and just have the areas that I feel like could not reach around the back. I'M giving her a face frame just hitting those sides making sure everything is nice and even and lined up with the front and then I'm going to create a face frame in the front. Remember last video we cut Jayla some bangs and you see how long they are like her. Bangs are just back with a vengeance. She said bangs where so now you see how heavy Jayla hair looks, especially in comparison to right before we cut it. You know, she's always has this thin suction in the back, and we can't figure out if it's we've done so much cutting so much conditioning um. Just Heat free Journeys, braids all type of things, to try to figure out how to get it to come back in the reality of it all is. I think it could possibly be a stress spot of right now, I'm going in and I'm cutting Jayla some long layers all throughout but yeah. We think it might be a stress spot and sometimes stress spots are a little hard to come back. So you know now. I think I'm what I'm gon na do is get her on the hair fuel, vitamin regimen um. We didn't try hair fuel, I mean we didn't try vitamins yet so my favorite hair vitamin is hair. Fuel is brought my hair up a long way, a very long way and, thanks to you, guys, they're all sold out. If you are one of the people who have bought hair fuel, if you could just jump in the comments - and you know - let us know your experience with it, because you know I would love to hear from you guys, but your hair fuel is um. So good and it works so well, so I'm gon na see if that works for jayla's, you know stress bot, that's what we've declared it, because, no matter what we do it, just it always just breaks off again. It'S not like she doesn't wear ponytails. All the time and all of that where it just would be breaking off and it's just it's not broken - it's just thinner so we'll see but yeah I'm going in getting these layers in. So we can uh finish this style. Look at that nice and heavy the colors even and beautiful, and we are about to go in and curl, so I'm using my of course, 22 Titania flat iron today and I'm just giving Jayla a nice little feather Feathering. The hair is one of my favorites because you can show your length um and you don't have to like keep your curls. You know all you have to do is wrap it around your head at night, and you know you just use your head as one big roller. I'M actually going to show you all that in a little bit um, because I know that I always use the Saran Wrap to wrap the hair. I mean not the Saran Wrap, because actually I use caps now because I feel like Saran Wrap, makes it too flat. Sometimes so, depending on the client or depending on yourself um, you might want it super flat, so the Saran wrap, but lay it super flat. But if you wanted still to have a little oomph, then I would say a plastic cap is better because it doesn't just you know, compress the hair to the head. So much so, but I'm gon na show you you know how to wrap the hair later. With a satin scarf so with jayla's hair, I know I was giving like a little soft bin, but it's like kind of a little heavy, but now that I really look at it's like a hybrid, you know it's like it's like in the two to two bins. You know what I'm saying: I'm not quite not quite you know, making it on the straighter side, but I'm not quite bumping the ends. It'S just like a little remember bumping the ends. I I it's just a little hybrid of it too. You know, because why I'm doing it like this is because I want jayla's layers to show Once I wrap it and comb it back down. So in order to get those layers - and you got to make sure that those ends are ends in you know, because if not you're not going to get the full effect and you went in and cut her hair in that style for her for nothing. If she can't enjoy the fruits of your labor, you know so just go in and give it a little hybrid bin. You know that's what we're going to call it from here on out now, because I live in Los Angeles now and not Philly anymore. I get nervous you know, especially when I'm doing my friends and family for my channel and they ask for color, because I'm not home to oversee it and make sure that you know their hair is okay, so I'll just be checking in like hey Jayla, how your Hair doing you know, because it's really important to maintain the color once it's in so a few things you could do is just you know, make sure that you do deep conditioners at least once a month. Make sure that you're still getting your trims, make sure you're. Not laying around because once you get permanent color, it kind of strips your hair a little bit of the Integrity. It'S not necessarily unhealthy, but you have to be especially careful not to lay around on cotton and dry the hair out anymore. You know, because you just want to make sure your hair is receiving as much moisture from your scalp and outer sources possible, so just make sure if you're laying around with color I'm just going to go ahead and spray, the glass brewing and shine right now. You know make sure that you are hold on this is this: this is the seven scarf by I am craft. I will put the link below for you to get your own. She has them in both black and pink, and I am just taking this out and I'm going to wrap her hair with this sad scarf. I'M gon na show you how to do it. It'S no different than how I rap with anything else. I'M taking a petal brush wig brush vent brush, whatever you call yours, I'm using a Denman brush the same one I used to blow dry and what you do when you're wrapping the hair is you're just using your head as one big roller. Okay, just think of it as one big roller, and so when you're doing your client when their hair is fresh, you're going to have to ask for a little help like just hold this and hold this side too. While I rep when you're doing your own hair, sometimes you got ta, you know spin your head around to hold it down. Sometimes you got to use Clips, I don't love using duckbill Clips or any type of Clips because they leave a dent. So if you do that, I recommend taking them out once you get that scarf on just reaching under there getting that clip or two out. You know, but yeah glad. We were talking about this because, when you're laying around your house, even when you don't have color, just put your scarf on or put a satin pillowcase um, I am craft also had setting pillowcases on her site. So that will help you out a great deal when you working with color or regular hair just to keep that moisture in when you are laying around the house. Okay, so for those of you who don't use plastic, wrap or plastic caps at home after you press your hair, you could just put your scarf on. We left this scarf on jayla's hair for 10 minutes um, just to show you that you could do it like this too, if you really want to without going all plastic into it, and now I'm going to show you how it came out baby, I say: BB Come on now, this yeah this is so beautiful. Now this came out so much better than I even thought I mean. I know the hair always comes out beautiful, but it's the color for me. You know like color, I I can't tell you like, I'm not a colorist, so it just stresses me out, like it stresses me out in school. It stressed me out my first years in the salon and it's 20 years later. I'M still you know it's just not my thing. It'S like you really have to request it and be my folks for me to be like I'll, give you some color. You know, but I'm so grateful that we did it today because I feel like it came out. So beautiful, and I hope that you love it just as much as me and Jayla do because baby to me it is fly. I also love how those long layers just work. They came in exactly how I needed them to see how that hybrid Bend. You know came through um and then it's like it's just not it's not too much so when it's growing out it won't be like. Oh, I just wish these layers were going. You know they're very long layer close to the ends, and so you know no big commitment, so yeah. I just want to thank you guys for always watching my channel rocking with me, and I will see you guys next time have a good one.

R Pierce: I know you said she is a regular customer, and you can really tell, because even starting out, it looked healthier than most. It looked beautiful when all done.

mintkandi22: YES, MA'AM! Her hair is beautiful! That color! The shine! The layers are layer-ing! BAY-BEE!

Jennifer Cynthia: The colour came out so beautiful. I stress about colour too even when I know its going to come out perfect

Kami Koils: Also, that shade looks so good on her chocolate skin too!

chosen2serve1: You have been sorely missed! Happy New Year!

Jade: Jayla’s hair turned out beautiful…it looks full and light. Those shears were gliding through her hair like butter. You always do a great job.

TB THOM: Happy New Year Kee!!! Beautiful color!!! Glad to have you back!!!

laylaa: Early!! 10 mins! Kee,i just wanted to say how much you have helped with my understanding of hair. i watch your videos CONSTANTLY! You are so calming girlll!! keep up the good work ❤❤

janice mcgill: What a great idea having that apron that goes around the neck to give you the cut guideline I think that’s an absolutely awesome idea because it’s so hard to cut straight and have it perfect. But that is an absolute game changer.

Brenda Jones: Y'all, did you see how she flips those sheers around (5:33) with precision as she stops and goes. A master at work!

Kenya Small: I love how you handle the hair when you’re styling. You treat each client’s hair like a delicate canvass and I love it

Kami Koils: Oooooh how we’ve missed you lady! Beautiful work as always! Color came out wonderfully!

that girl in okc: Happy FIRST video of the New Year! I hope your family and friends realize how lucky they are to have your hands in their hair ❤

fine9ja: That color and how the hair lays is beautiful. I think I have a stress spot too. It's my nape. I've tried everything; deep conditioner, protein, castor oil, scarfs, silk pillowcase (don't like), dermatologist, etc. A few months ago someone told me about zinc. So I started to take Zinc with Cooper, and added biotin to my vitamin regimen. Recently I noticed my nape hair is growing back. I might have to look into the hair fuel vitamins you referenced.

Nomusa Magic: That color PERFECTLY complements her skin tone. Beautiful client, gorgeous hair, amazing stylist ‍

Destiny Green: It turned out absolutely beautiful your techniques have helped my hair grow I think I’ll reach armpit length by the end of the year I just gotta get the confidence to trim my own hair.

M Nels: Love these videos! And yes about the color, I wondered why when I get color my roots were always so much brighter and now I know why. The color on Jayla turned out so pretty!

AngelFire: Her hair is so healthy. Do an updated vid on getting and maintaining hair this healthy like old school back in the early video days.

*Becoming* *: Luv the color! I've learned something from this tutorial. Dye the ends first. I use box dyes afraid of the bleach, I had a bad experience with breakage, so that's why. You did a fantastic job as always. Thanks for sharing

Lillian Massey: As a stylist, you have furthered my education. Thank you for the inalienable and adding to my never get to old to learn. I enjoy all that you give to the industry.

Raven Williams: Tens across the board!! I am obsessed with her hair color and the cut!! I have been natural for about 5 maybe 6 years and I haven't put excessive heat to my hair nor unfortunately a real good trim. But the more I watch your videos I am less scared to do so. I have a beautician I trust and its definitely time. So I thank you for giving me the courage that I so need!!

We GotThis: I’ve been rocking with you for a minute now, since the Philly days!! I’m now loc’d and you’re retired from the chair!!! Haha I wonder how many loc’d sisters watch you too This would be my style, long layers, if I were still relaxed. Shout out to all you masters that know how to cut long layers and fixing bad cuts IMO, 2 lengths that layers matters is a pixie and long layers, honorable mention, a GREAT Bob! I’m in the DMV, and the humidity takes a blow out away in days and I never could achieve this after going natural so I have long layer locs!!! My loc stylist trimmed me as I was growing out and now when I get a roller set, my micro locs flow even more curled than when they’re straight and look edgy when they’re dropping. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May you continue to prosper and grow

Hlobile Dludlu: I just love how you are passionate about what you makes you do even better each and every time,I tell you.

Shay C.: Her hair turned out awesome! The color is everything. Jayla get ready for ALL the compliments you will be receiving.

so keke j: Happy New Year Kee and Happy Sunday you did a good job on her hair it’s absolutely beautiful have a safe and blessed week!

TP from the D: I'm glad I watched this video my hair does the exact same thing and it has been like this ever since I was a kid that stress spot stayed there and never went away. It is also hereditary with the women in my family but it was harder to tell because they mostly wore short hairstyles. Her hair turned out beautiful

Gayane Gabrielyan: 3:51 I have the same problem, I've figured out that was neckless that caused tangles and breakages. Now I take them off when I go to sleep :) Hope it could help

T Mom: It's the SHINE for me!! Wow....that color is GORGEOUS!! Thanks so much for sharing your talents with us!!!

Oh2KOK22: Beautiful color I’ve had my hair professionally colored twice, both bad experiences. Now I just do box dye

Miss Q: My hair was thinning in the same area for years from wrapping my hair and tying my scarf in the back. May want to try switching the direction she wraps her hair and also where she ties her scarf/bonnet. Hair turned out amazing tho

Leah Vaughan: A rare occurrence for me...speechless! That color, that cut...WOW! Beautiful!

ALIPA: Her hair!!!! The texture, the shine, the everything just so amazing!!

J. B II: Now This is how you start the New Year !!!. Her hair is gorgeous . She is beautiful

Kayla b Bones: It’s the scientific method for me I love how you breakdown everything for us NO “gatekeeping”

Bianca Charles: Ke!!!!! I would live a cut for a fresh start. I'll be 45yrs old in March and I'd love to have you in my "Journey to 45" with a hair cut to match this 45 lb weight-loss I'm pushing towards. Be blessed!!!

Natalie 'MsCrzySxyCool' Harris: HAPPY NEW YEAR QUEEN-SISTER !! I'm loving what you did to her hair.

Virtuous Virgo: Her hair from the start is absolutely beautiful and healthy, I like the brown too just gorgeous.

Simba Yates: Beautiful, beautiful color and cut, I've always thought you were a beast with the scissors ❤ This seems weird but when you said her hair always "naturally grows thinner in the middle..." you released some weight off me with that statement. My hair is like that in the same sections and is visible past a certain length. I've always thought something was wrong or that it was me. I tried vitamins and everything mentioned, but it still does the same so I'm thinking genetics but thanks for raising that bit of awareness

Kimberly Jackson: Very beautiful. The color looks amazing and you did a great job as always.

Monique Wilson: Happy New Year, Kiki!! Oh wow! I love her color and it goes so well with her complexion

Tameka Scott: Absolutely gorgeous the cut and color

HrhSophia TheFirst: Happy New Year Kee! Beautiful job, love the color. Is Ms. Jayla relaxed or silk-pressed?

Julie Valdez: I love your work! I am Latina, and I have wavy curly hair. It’s so hard to find a stylist in my area that knows how to cut my hair. I mean no disrespect, but do you think you’ll ever post videos on other hair textures?

Keshan Frazier: Her has grown and she looks great. Good job!!!

katzeyez06: The hair was so pretty. The color, and the health of the hair.

Sabrina White: Happy New Year!!! Simply Beautiful! Everytime I see someone else cutting hair, I'm always comparing. I'm like that, not right. Ke doesn't do it like that. they're always wrong!!!!

Lynn Sprinkle: Concerning that thin spot I can't help but wonder if she's brushing or combing it incorrectly. You know not starting at the bottom and working her way up because that will certainly make a thin spot if they're combing from the root down.

Punky ReggaeParty: Another soothing video, another beautiful head of hair. Thank you!

Shelia Sanders: I love your hair tutorials. You are always so soft spoken. Great teacher and hair stylist. Love the little cape for cutting hair. Her hair is so healthy and beautiful.

cecilia maben: Hey girl hey happy new year glad to see you back with another video can’t wait for the year to come..blessing and love❤️❤️

Corrie Vincent: I love copper!! I switch between a permanent and demi color every other time. It helps maintain my color with less damage

Stephanie Scott: Absolutely gorgeous love the color and her hair is so healthy

Jackie M: that color is perfect on her. as usual, your work is immaculate.

Critter Writer: The color and the shine are amazing. And I love your nails.

silvrliit: Just gorgeous! Great care!✨

Dark_Angel07: I went to this one hairstylist to get color done, and I saw pictures of her other clients who got color so I figured she would do a good job. I was wrong, she ended up doing my roots last as just as you said my roots were a bright purple while the rest of my hair was a purple black color. Fortunately, I was able to find a different hairstylist to fix my hair. I feel like my hair is ruined now with all of the chemicals that have been used on it.

Diamond Sykes-Dawson: WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT SCARF TRICK, I ALWAYS STRUGGLE PUTTING ON A SCARF BY MYSELF! YOU MADE IT SOME MUCH EASIER FOR MYSELF, AND IT WASN'T AS HARD AS I THOUGHT IT WAS! I LIKE THAT STRATEGY WAY BETTER THAN THE TRADITIONAL WAY.

Socially Conscious Podcast: You have such a dope personality. I love watching your channel & the work you do. It's obvious that you really take your craft seriously. It shows with your clients. If I had hair you would convince me to buy all your products. Lol j/k j/k

Linda: I have the same issue at the nape of my neck. It always looked limp when I had a perm. I've been natural forever now & it's still thin. Ugh the frustration I just keep a tapered cut.

Monie: Happy wonderful New Year to you and many many more so glad to see you do some hair today I hope that you might be able to do it more frequent we really miss you have a prosperous 2023 .

ALIPA: My hair doesn’t look this good even with a relaxer! Damn

kalika moore: Happy New year! And as always beautiful turn out. A question? You had in an earlier video a clear semi permanent. Is that good to go over every 6 weeks or so. Maybe it will help the bond by coating the outside layer??? Just asking

franklyearnest: Her hair is beautiful, and I love the color!❤❤❤

Tara Mason: The cut and the color are amazing. Your channel is very motivating. I wish you had a shop here in Los Angeles.

RaMece Quinn: The color really came out great! Her hair looks so nice and soft

Diana da Goddess: Happy New Year Queen. Her hair is lovely, color and style

Monica Moss: Yesss!!! Color! Cut! Love it all! So nice and healthy.

iAm_ Ar2k: Another beautiful job! In regards to her thin spot in the back, inform Jayla to go to a Dermatologist...The issue may be stress like you mentioned, but the issue may be internally...A Dermatologist could be informative as well as her diet....Bless up!

Shanielle H: Beautiful! I’m happy that you don’t add all of that edge control to the silk press. It takes away from the natural beauty of the silk press.

Pamela Denise: That looks so pretty, you do such a beautiful job. I would love for you to do my hair!

A J: Beautiful cut and her hair is healthy.... my hair grows exactly like that at the back. I've come to think it's either where I rest my head or genetics, as my daughter s hair is soft and long in the same area where mine is soft and fine and short and away from the length and softness otherwise appears healthy.

Darlene Gant: Yes, I went on to the website and saw that it was sold out. Please let us know when it’s back in stock!! Thank you so much and happy new year.

Joseph T.: Jayla's hair looks amazing!

Ms Pretty Hustler: Omg so freakin beautiful! Came out amazing as always =)
