What I plan to do with all these inches is literally just like slap all the haters in the face.. So I really think this weave will bring out the worst parts of my personality and I can't wait. Hi. My name is Sabrina. Today, I'm getting a grey weave, but before you see my transformation subscribe below., So my hair journey has been long and not always easy.. I think a lot of Black girls and Black women as well, especially existing and white spaces. I think we like internalized this like racism and this hatred of our natural hair. Growing up. You were told that you won't get a job if you're a Black woman that walks in with red hair, blue hair, grey hair., So I've kind of just sort of like actively gone against that. I've had grey and black box braids. I'Ve tried to get like a grey ombre. Look that didn't really work out. It turned out more green blueish., But honestly the real reason is like my name is Sabrina. I have a black cat named Salem and I kind of want to look like a witch. And grey hair helps with that. I'm Sabrina, it's so nice to meet you. Hi, I'm Koni nice to meet you.. Tell me about this grey weave, we're going to be doing. Today. Hi, my name is Koni and I'm the owner and stylist at Vanity, Boutique Salon., The old quote, goes `` A woman who cuts our hair is about to change her life.'' And really that translates in so many ways when it comes to beauty., I'm so excited.. Let'S get started., These are semipermanent hair colors.. We have two platinums to one silver., We're going to watercolor the hair.. It'S a really cool process where you heat water into a bowl along with the semi-permanent color., Because Sabrina wants to go a very intense shade of grey we're going to start with hair. That'S already been lightened to the color of six-thirteen. And you dip the hair in the bowl of warm water and color as many times desired until you achieve your color of choice.. First, we're just going to section the hair in four sections and then gently stretch the hair with a warm blow dry.. Okay, so we're all blown out and stretched out., Not super blown out because we don't want to blow out to straighten. We just want to blow out to soften the hair a little bit so that we can get our braids in. Next step is adding in the braids., Because Sabrina is going for a side part we'll part, her hair along the side, exactly where she likes her hair To normally be parted, because that is exactly where the closure top will lay at the very very closing of her weave.. Does that look like That's perfect., Perfect range Great., So the two front braids are pretty important because the hair is going to be resting when we bring it from one side to another. Resting along the anchor braids.. I think it's such a beautiful love language, like the care that Black women and Black people put into the hair.. My earliest memories are like my grandma, giving me two dollars to like scratch, her head with her comb.. How does the braid feel so far You're? So gentle. This is perfect. A lot of people think that having your hair, weaved or even just having braids, that your hair should be tight or that it should hurt., But that's the complete opposite of. What'S true., Of course, there's going to be some very slight tension because the hair is being manipulated., So you should feel that., But you should not feel pain. Once we've got all the braids down and we've got the scalp, nice and oiled. We then apply a weaving net.. A weaving net is just an extra barrier of protection for the weave keeping it all in place.. Some people like to just sew the closure down onto the parting., But I like to band it first, just because I feel like it takes a lot of the tension off of those anchor braids.. I want to try to put as less tension on those as possible.. Now we have the closure.. This is a four by four lace: closure., The lace closure is going to act as the natural appearing part. That'S going to go right on top of this section that we kind of braided around for the parting of Sabrina's hair.. The weave that Sabrina's getting today is a closure. Weave. She's, not leaving any of her hair out.. So she'll have a four inch by four inch lace closure installed at the very, very top.. This will ensure that all of her hair is protected underneath and that nothing is left out to be compromised.. Once we have the closure installed, we then take the bundles and we install track by track in an upward direction until the final track met the top of the closure., And then we would just style and have fun., Because there is such a cost associated with real Human hair extensions: it's really a luxury to be able to wear a weave and you'd have to put in the same amount of effort in the extension hair, as you would your own hair. If you wanted longevity. Do wash your hair. A lot of people, think that when you have a weave installed, you don't have to wash your hair or it takes from washing your hair, because all of your hair is concealed underneath.. You should still wash your hair and you should still wash your weave.. You should do so by visiting a salon, because the next hair do is properly dry, your hair., It could be a breeding ground for bacteria.. It'S a dark and damp place.. I'Ve had experiences where I've taken them down and it just wasn't pretty.. You should treat your weave as if you treat your natural hair because it is hair. Overusing the blow dryer, the flat iron and curling iron will basically cause your hair to dehydrate and break off. Just like it normally would on your own head., Okay, we're just about done., I'm so excited to see it.. I think you look so stunning. You're, giving me Storm vibes. It'S beautiful.. Are you ready? Yes. Okay.? Oh my god. I love it., It's perfect.! Oh my god. It'S beautiful.. I wasn't expecting it to be this good., Oh well, gee, thanks.! Well, no.. I mean to look this good on me at least., It's stunning on you.! It'S exactly what I wanted., I feel like there might be a full moon out because it feels really witchy and it feels like honestly, I feel like I can conquer the world.. This is amazing.. I really wish things were open for me to go out and show this look off. To. Thanks so much for watching my hair transformation. To watch more videos, click here. And to subscribe click here.

Refinery29: What other hair transformations would you like to see on Hair Me Out? Share with us below!

Abby Anderson: “I think it’s such a beautiful love language, the care that black women and black people put into their hair” love this

felicity g: The gray hair looked very glam, but the short, natural hair also looked very pretty.

Caribbean Empress: The cornrows under the weave are soooo neat.

Amber: The hair itself looks weighed down and greasy.

Sergeline Colin: not gonna lie, I was doubting this at first but the hair stylist really did a beautiful job and the grey looks lovely on the client!

everberry51: The way the stylist handled her natural hair and the weave itself was excellent Buuuut the water coloring didn’t work since the bundles all look a different color & the hair was looking stiff at the end :/

N Martin: “I really think this weave will bring out the worst parts of my personality...I can’t wait!” That is so me

Ashley Bennae: The sew in was great! I didnt like the grey at all. It makes her look like young grandma. Im not a fan of grey hair on younger people. It's a unique color that only a few younger ppl can really pull off. Maybe if it were more lavender or purple it would have been prettier. Overall the installation was on point just not so much on the color.

Deedee04: The stylist did a great job especially with the braids underneath but I'm not a fan of the color. But she layed the heck out of her hair though!

sheree mcintyre: The sew in is amazing! I would have went a bit deeper with the grey, maybe more of a steel tone and used less product in the actual hair so it doesn't look as heavy. Other than that her technique is phenomenal.

Jasmine: She loves it and that's the most important part. The color is nice and fits her personality and vibe. My only issue is that 4x4 closure. Girl, get a 6x6. I hate small closures .

Cas: the braids are so beautiful!

Pickle Juice: Not to sound stupid, but this was so cool to see how black women do their hair

Lord Farquaad: Her styling choices are on point. Get it, Sabrina!

Adia Ayanna: Please do a styling on type 4 hair the only times I see hair transformations for it is with weaves and wigs :/

Alon A: I think it looks so good on her. 613 is tough bc it is hair that has been dyed already and the porosity is different bundle to bundle. It will even out tone wise with time/exposure but it suits her and its a really cool look.

Zolo Osso: You do you, tbh no one cares and neither should you, your hair are amazing on its own and you dont need to supress it ❤ its your life, make your choices and even if some will find it ( idk , put whatever negative) they have the right to do so and you have the right to ignore them or sit them the f* down

Nicky Witch: What a great job!She looks beautiful!

Uncle Iroh: I love this and seeing the process that goes into Black women’s hair! So much respect and love She’s gorgeous

JuaniqueVerde: Yaaaas Sis!!! I love it on you! I was happy she laid some baby hair the water coloring was cool to learn about.

Brittany Pittman: ya know i clicked this with trepidation and said to myself “please don’t let her look crazy” i loved both her and the stylists personality but i didn’t love the hair it was like green? and looked super wiggy when she hair flipped and i’m disappointed :(

Poorstargazer23: Yes, be the witch your heart desires to be Who cares if some people think grey is aging. You know what else is aging? A judgemental as heck attitude. Just let people be happy.

Themagicofmaya: Hair me out is my favorite series, glad I’m early☺️

Rochelle Woods: It looks so good on you and the stylist Koni did her thing. Love it.

LoKaee2: She looks fabulous but the execution wasn't great. It looked greasy and the back didn't look finished. Her edges on the side peaked and didn't blend into the side of her head. She won't be able to put her hair up because it just didn't blend well. But I hope she's happy and confident with it. She looks amazing

Maria DePaz: i love the look of grey hair with black roots. that’s how i did mine, and i feel it gives it a nice transition into the grey.

Tee Jay: I'm Haring you out Sabrina ❤️ ... You're passed hair colors complimented your skin hue...The gray perfection..flip your hair girl... Koni thank you for the Education with braiding hair..I noticed Sabrina's scalp line wasn't pulling from the braids... Refinery29 as always a wonderful post Thank you..✨✨ Happy New Year To All Stay Safe Be Happy... Sincerely Tee Jay

Fiona C.: I like how well and clear Koni explained everything. Im not black so ive never gotten a weave so the way she explained the whole process was really nice! I also thought it was interesting how she mentioned that getting those types of braids or weave isnt supposed to hurt but ive heard that there is typically an association with pain with this process.

missy989: Most people can’t pull off gray hair without aging themselves. Idk why this is so trendy.

mich: Watching this vid has made me feel more confident in growing out my natural grey hair. I am pretty much 70% grey!

lhamilt: Awww I remember scratching my uncles scalp. He loved it, and would let me braid his hair too

Hannah Bingham: Koni you are stunning, and Sabrina I think your hair turned out really cool!

lauren: closure was laiddd and color looks really good with their skin tone

reign: seeing the process of this all was very interesting; she looks beautiful both with her natural hair and the grey weave!

Mélancolie Lupine: Oooooh I didn't know that you could sew hair to your head... I have straight short hair but I'd love to rock a long coloured hair. I always dye my hair and it's a chore. I also worn dreadlocks for years. I kinda want it again but I don't know anybody to do it where I am. Edit: ofc you need to wash it. When I had my dreads I washed it with shampoo each week. People kept asking me how I was washing it, like it was dirty. I was like, huuuuh with water and shampoo you know Edit 2: personally I find the result very pretty and natural

Laura Lopez-Reese: Wow!!! The hair stylist is very professional and creative!

Krystal Aniol: I don’t understand the granny trend, IMO the look really ages the person. She is so beautiful and has such a fun and vibrant personality. She really could have pulled off some bright and bold colors. Even pastels. Maybe I’m just biased because I don’t like the grey hair trend ‍♀️

meredithe: The grey hair looks stunning on her omg

elloimandrea: Amazing! Love it!

Chris Caughey: That an amazing weave color and it is looking glamorous and gorgeous.

Tonya tea: You look so good!!! Love it!

KPV life a.k.a tattii: I used to be an assistant at a hair salon in which we had a stylist that specialized in natural hair. I have to say i agree 100% with Koni. WASH YOUR HAIR. You had to see little girls and women come in with hair not washed for 4 to 8 weeks and the amount of dead skin falling out the scalp. It made their scalp so sensitive. Please wash your hair. Itll make the process of re-doing your hair way better and less painful.

viceb7: I hope she was feeling herself, her natural curls were gorgeous! I think an ashy icy blonde would've suited her better than the grey though, the tone really aged her face

Silv Ayala: So interesting!! How long does the weave last? Like, how do you wash your own hair underneath??

Newfiegal 78: Wow! It looks so good!

mycrownfitsfine: Y’all really bouta act like y’all didn’t see that all 3 bundles were 3 different shades and the frontal was darker than the 3 @1:54

azianCTR: she had me at "My name is Sabrina. I have a black cat named Salem." (Sabrina the Teenage Witch for those that need reference).

Mirjam Milde: Looks beautiful

Julianna Carter: Yasss for the Telfar bag❤️

Vashti Perry: My grandma didn't give me money to scratch her head. I missed out

Fer: Haven’t even watch 2 minutes but as soon as she said sabrina ik she would look amazing with blonde platinum hair.

Elise Scarpa: I just love this...I would so do this.

Raquel Pegoraro: Ficou muito bonito .

ada babe: She looks gorgeous

White Diamond: AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL ❤️

Ry B: Wish they would have done a full face of makeup to complete the look.

Cat Daddyyee: I love the face lift you get when you get a sew in ☺️

Tay: Not hating, but it looks meh and stiff to me already. Some type of curly weave on her would look soooo good

J M: I never internalized hatred as a BW in white spaces but I was taught that conformity would help me be more accepted. I was bullied a lot growing up but as soon as I relaxed my hair, I made friends and got bullied less. But I was never not Black and they always let me know that I wasn’t “one of them” — I was told this by children my age, about 8 years old, so those racist indoctrination start young with non-Black people. Now as an adult I’m back to my natural hair and so so happy. I also learned that anyone who doesn’t accept me as I am is not someone who has anything valuable to add to my life.

Taylor Jade: the sorcery of it all is so on point.

UKLeonie: I actually liked it, trying to get some grey faux locs for 2021.

Rainbow in the clouds: So pretty!!

Chyna Whyte: I wish it was more of a blue toned gray, but that’s just my personal preference on Grays period.

CL Cooks: Wow, this is amazing

S.C. Argueta: The stylist is so beautiful!!!!

Debra H.: I have been dying for hair this color ! Can i get a weave just like this?

Joy Amessoudji: I love love love the witch look

Rj Hennessy: Turned out fab!

mokumarilyn: That looks great

Cory Cory: That lace blend it fire, but it was weighed down with too much product not bouncy and light.

cerysannepowell: how long does this whole process take?

Chelsea Johnson: Glad she loves it but what’s up with this grey trend? Ehh to each their own, I’ll let my greys come naturally lol

Bridget Mannion: Your funny girl! Slap them haters in the face.

Des Des: I don't know much about weaves--how long will she be able to keep these in?

Althea Gray: Wow! I would love to do Grey but it would not suit my complexion

Kenzie S.: Perfection!

Karat Topless: So stunning

Nathaniel Craig: I think the stylist used too much product on the hair when styling. It looked wet, greasy and heavy. Otherwise well done imo.

MelodyMathilde: It’s so intensive. I’d want to be anesthesized for this. Like dang

jules: love the look and hair overall but the part looks a lil funny

Susan Vaughan-Schiele: I love your hair natch!

Shanell Hyman: I LOVE LOVE LOVE her hair transformation

丅𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 đⒾν𝐀: Her cornrows are 10x better than mine i have 4a hair and I still can't get them THAT neat

CecileC: This looks so fake. Theres ways for us to do natural looking sew ins. All they needed to do was do a gradient on the hair line by thinning it out. Unless she was going for that fake look...

Cup of Bleach: Her hair looks fine, it’s just the lace, they should’ve bought the hair from online.

Breeya Kay: I’ve always wondered do the ladies who get those braids does it give them migraines being so tight against the scalp?

Ninanush2: That colour suits her very well

Ava Rayes: She is gorgeous!

sfernando04: I wished they did a vixen sew-in

Susan J.: Sabrina is truly beautiful before and after. Koni is really talented in knowing how to do these types of dying and weaving. Loved seeing this process.

Sharena Nellums: Such Beautiful girl!

Elly Waller: Gorgeous

Teodora Yordanova: I understand the stigma around black people's hair, but I don't understand why people cannot differentiate when something is about their hair or is about hair in general. People didn't tell you you won't find a job because you're a black woman with colorful (blue, green etc) hair, but because they don't take people with colorful hair seriously in general. My teachers, friends' parents, neighbors etc were literally harassing me everyday in high-school for having green, blue, purple, blond and any other color besides brown i had on my head. It's just because people are narrow-minded, not because you're black.

La Tricia Christien: I love that show. :)

Annette Payne: Wow looks good but it looks better short funky natural and sexy. Curls rock

Alexis Mason: She should’ve just made this into a wig

Wonder Love: That closure was SO small cute hair tho...looks kinda greasy at the end but still bomb color

swedishrefugee: I love how everyone, on All of refinery29's hair videos, turn into professional hair stylists in the comment section. Stop criticizing you can't do half of the shit they do

Life with Akunna: I’m not too mad about this one lol
