Minimalist Hair Care Routine

By popular request, here's my hair care "routine!"

It's not much of a routine. I just wash my hair and avoid harsh chemicals. Everything else just revolves around that.

I didn't have time to mention during this short video, but if your hair isn't dry, but OILY, sometimes using less harsh shampoo can help as well. This is just my observation though. It's anecdotal. If anyone knows why this might be, please share!

I'll eventually make a longer video about this as well!

Hello friends by popular request here are some tips on hair care. It seems like every day we stray further from the path of calisthenics. Actually, this video is very on brand. One of my core messages is not to let people sell you, your own health and happiness and hair products is one way they try to do that, like a big one. Now i don't think any of these products or brands are necessarily bad. I'Ve used them myself, but there are so many brands products and options out there that it can be overwhelming and they're marketed to us in a way that makes us think we need them to have healthy, good, looking hair, when we probably don't this is bambina the Bamboo bambi, for short, she has nothing to do with hair. I just wanted to introduce her for many of us all. We really need for our hair in the words of katara is water. All i really do for my hair is washing and avoid harsh chemicals when possible. I try to avoid sodium lauryl sulfate, but you're welcome to do your own research and make your own decision on that. This next line might surprise some of you not. Everyone needs to wash their hair every day and if you do, you may not need to shampoo every time you wash your hair over washing and over shampooing might be why your hair is dry, i'm not a shampoo, ologist or anything. I hope that helps you out and you have a fabulous day.

Hybrid Calisthenics: How do you all like Bambina? I didn't have time to mention during this short video, but if your hair isn't dry, but OILY, sometimes using less harsh shampoo can help as well. This is just my observation though. It's anecdotal. If anyone knows why this might be, please share! I'll also make a longer video about this at some point. I'd like for a video soon on the importance of water, if we should drink filtered, bottled, etc. Also, someone asked me if this video was a sponsored ad. The answer is no, but who would sponsor this video? Water companies? I'm advocating for less use of products (although they are handy in some cases)!

Crabbypatty: I’ve only seen a few of this guy’s videos but I’d trust him with my life

Dhrubajit Bhattacharjee: "she has nothing to do with hair, I just wanted to introduce her".

Billie Mello: I love it when he cracks himself up with his own jokes. We don’t deserve the pureness of you, but thank you always for sharing these bits of yourself with us.

BlackMoonRis1ng: His hair only needs water, this due to the fact that his hair is also doing its own calisthenics as well.

11th century Crusader: "In the words of katara" "water"

Obi-Wan Kenobi: This man has so much positive energy when he comes to contact with negative energy it makes a lightning bolt

Accurate Gamer: this man is an angel disguised as a human.

Gwyn: i love how his humor is helping us pay more attention and be excited about all the helpful information he’s about to give us

Anthi Kalaitzi: Am I the only one who feels like my heart is melting whenever I hear hampton calling us his friends? Hampton, you're such an amazing person!

Draco Reptilis: I cannot tell you how happy this man makes me feel! He has such a warm and inviting aura, and he just seem like a very nice person to be around :]

masterhide: Also, one of the biggest things that made my hair healthy was a balanced diet & regular meals. Sounds dumb, but when i was working too much and not eating my hair was noticeably thinner. And having things like rice, avocado, vegetables, nuts, salmon, fruits.. just a good mix of healthy fats and different foods made my hair grow back thick and shiny.

Morgan McConnell: “every day we stray further from calisthenics-“….But your advice is always on point

Severe Edits: That hair flick sealed the deal I love this guy

complete and utter chaos: we need to protect this man at all costs

Elina Singh: His voice is soothing actually You won't feel bored to listen him whole day

Elizabeth Sum: I’ll do whatever you’re doing. Your hair is majestic

Morbid Mutilator: I seen this a while back and followed his tips. I gotta say my hair looks amazing and it started to grow back after I water rinse in between washes. Awesome advice. My curls are so shiny and healthy looking. You can never find in a bottle what your natural oils do for your hair on its own. Plus product build up is just another chore lol.

Jolie Giacomo: You’re blessed with genetically beautiful hair. As a kid. My hair looked soooo bad. Until I began using conditioner.

arham_: Hampton: laughs slightly Everyone liked that

BeN: Been using just water everyday for the past 4 years. Now my hair looks way thicker and actually healthier than before that. And my dandruff problem went away when i stopped using shampoo.

fatemeh shahmohammad: Okay I have no idea how this happened but I'm so haply and grateful I found your channel Great job I wish you all the best For all the amazing energy and education your giving, like rippling in a pond, to go around through so many hearts and come back to you amplified You're a beautiful person (Also don't apologise for the content being slow, there's so much of it already and you're doing a great job, and ignore this if it doesn't resonatewith you , i just have anxiety of content creators and youtubers feeling pressure and anxiety to push stuff out )

*o*: Yesssssss. Thank you for pointing it out. Not everyone's hair gets greasy at the same rate lol I've learned a ton about haircare through the 2 years I've been growing mine out. Moderation is key. Find your sweet spot and stick to it as routinely as possible :)

Sarah E: I use apple cider vinegar with "mother", baking soda, almond oil, and Peppermint oil. Works great and if I try a commercial shampoo or conditioner I can feel how dry my hair is or waxy. That's me though ‍♀️

LangHacking: Thanks for the interesting content (this is the fifth or so video of yours I've seen; I just discovered you today!). I have dry hair, and I've recently started using conditioner, but it still feels dry, and the split ends don't make it easier. I've also tried not washing my hair everyday, but by the time the second day comes around I have what my husband fondly calls "river stink". My hair smells bad, like brackish water. Do you think that just going with water will help this problem over time? Or maybe someone has another idea that would work?

K R: Hampton, I love you and your channel - with anything you like to talk about! I feel pure, positive energy and smile each time I watch one of your videos :). Namaste my friend! Have a beautiful day ❤️

Robyn Richards: I'm always surprised when an influencer has the same beauty regimen as I. This time, pleasantly surprised. I feel vindicated, as my mother, who went to beauty school in the 60s, is well in the wash-hair-everyday camp.

Nicky Phoenix: I am so glad that I found your channel, you explain things so well and take the fear out of tackling some of the exercises

NightlySpectre: Hey hampton, I really love your videos, they are open minded and personally inspired me, I just wanted to say: Thank you.

abovethestars: SOMEONE GIVE HIM THE WORLD he deserves it! Edit: Bambina was lovely

IXrilleZ: We need the whole fbi to take care of this guy even give him an antidote of un-aging so he lives forever

The Gentleman: The fact that he says “hello friend” at the beginning and “have a beautiful day” at the end makes it that much better I love it on my part ;)

your mom: that hairflip in the end was such a flex, if only he was able to do more calisthenics and flex his biceps for us instead LMAO

Aravind Krishna: Hampton's the sort of guy who I want as my beer buddy in college. Man, I imagine calling out to him as he walks into the pub and sliding him a plate of Buffalo wings and it fills me with happiness and contentment.

mark stevens: Hampton you are a AMAZING guy simple, honest & your positive vibes are contagious blessing's to you :)

StarMoss: Your positive attitude and body care, plus this hair care, ;) I’m loving your channel!!! Blessed be family oh! And Bambi, is one sexy Bambi! Good green leaves, no brown spots, apparently great dirt going on! ( I keep tanks with lizards and full ecosystem with my partner ) much love!

PARACOSM: I wash my hair once every couple of months, but no more than 4 times a year. I rinse it whenever I shower (which is also not everyday) don't judge me. And when I do shampoo I have to make sure I have natural shampoo without chemicals. You can also make your own with just a few ingredients. Our ignorance keeps us slaves to this system. Which is why I truly appreciate your content. Thanks for spreading the word. Keep up the great work.

5457kj: Love your messages. Simple, clean, calming...

Verndusk -: When I found out I'm allergic/extremely sensitive to SLS and got an SLS free shampoo - my hair and scalp got so much better, it's weird walking through the store aisle with all these colourful brands of shampoo and not being able to use any of them lol

Crown42: I wash my hair every other day and it's perfectly healthy and soft so this checks out

Matt: I used to have really oily hair, to the point I'd wash it twice a day in summer with shampoo. Then I had a month long job where I forgot to take shampoo and couldn't buy any, so it went a month in a hot summer desert without getting washed with anything other than water. It got disgustingly oily, and washing my hair was the very first thing I did when I got home but i noticed then that even a full week after washing it, it still looked fine and not oily, and since then I only wash it with water. only time I use shampoo now is a couple of times a year when it gets really dirty at work and I only use a very small amount, not much more than how much toothpaste you would put on a toothbrush

The Paradox: Hampton, what do you suggest for dandruff? If I don’t shampoo my hair, the dandruff makes everything ITCHY and unbearable. Would love your take on this.

katarina panajotovic: Living my whole life with the weird looks from ppl when I say I wash my hair once per week Just observe your hair ❤️

small sasha: I have long, thick South Asian hair and it grows really fast! For context, it was in a pixie cut in Dec 2019 and now (after trims every few months for shape) it's grown out to 2.5 inches beyond my shoulders. Coconut or hibiscus oil are very good for hair growth, you wash it off with shampoo after an hour or so. If you're into using eggs, eggwhite rubbed into your scalp helps increase growth and reduce dandruff. And finally, yes, don't wash every single day. When your hair feels itchy or greasy, that's when you need to wash it (and even then, your scalp needs to be scrubbed more than your hair). I love the Tresseme Keratin Smooth shampoo but if you go herbal or cruelty free then nothing better!

John and Zion: Dude, ive been watching your vlog eversince youtube recommends your channel. You are full of energy and positivity. I admire u for being a wholesome guy. Thanks for inspiring us to be healthy. Godbless you bro

AllDay NBA: It's funny how the topic doesnt matter anymore, if I see one of ur vids, I just come for the positivity Wow, thank you everyone for the likes, if only my youtube channel did this well

amrit vig: One more tip - apply hair oil every day it keeps your hair healthy and prevent them from drying , have a great day

Ayush Singh: Ever since I stopped Shampooing daily my hair become better than ever. Also Oil at Weeknds with coconut/olive/almond oil all are great

Blær Rósar Daniels: I only have to wash my hair about once per week or week and a half with shampoo and conditioner as my hair isn't very oily and another thing that has gotten better with cleaning it so rarely is my psoriasis in my scalp. I also use paraben, color free and scent free products as it doesn't irritate my scalp :)

Hazel Lamunu: I know we all love it when he introduces the stuff in his house

Adam Loveless: Finally someone whose honest about shampoo, my thoughts exactly. I sometimes feel the shampoos cause problems and the ingredients have such long complicated names to fool you

Rabin Kr: The last tip definitely worked for me, I stopped using shampoo everyday and instead washed my hair with just water. Worked wonders.

Felicia Nicholas: This video tickled me :) All great points, Black women are known for these exact hair routines. Also people need to remember healthy vs good looking hair are two different things.

Sonia Karmakar: "It seems every day we stray further from the path of calisthenics" nice video man but I appreciate your all type of contents, specially fitness and coffee talks.. good going

Eli H: Hampton: this bamboo doesn’t have anything to do with hair. Me: 1. Dang it, I wanted to see bambina with a wig. 2. This is the content that cheers me up. The energy Hampton brings to just show us his plants is invigorating and inspiring.

Ali'J D: I wash my hair every 2 weeks. Also i felt that hair flip in my soul

Eloisa Añasco Villavicencio: You are adorable!! And you're hair is gorgeous! Good vibes you sweet little thing! ❣❤

Shadira Todoroki: Let's take a moment to appreciate that beautiful hair flip at the end ✨

The Messy Bun Mafia: Your hair is fabulous! Just discovered your channel from your push ups short and looking forward to exploring! Love your attitude!

RanMind YT: my mooscles are getting stronker!

Abacaxitu: Hampton how do you deal with your anxiety, especially when anxiety gets out of hand?

No No: This asian guy is really good at explaining things with literally no hesitations at all

Rachael: I have been avoiding sulfates in my hair products for a while now, and I must say, my hair has definitely benefitted.

Eva Peeva: what works very well for me is shampoo block and i realized i can wash my hair every 3 days and it looks shinier and healthier! another benefit is that it's way better for the enviorment, definitely recommend

Hibi: Hybrid *Calisthenics* : Last Video: How to jump over a stick This video: Have a fabulous day * Hair swing * What's next ? I like where this is going

Kaydon Sama: If you have coarse, kinky hair you shouldn’t wash more than once a week. Also you could benefit from some sort of oil or leave in conditioner, since our hair can become dry & brittle due to curl pattern. Great video btw Hampton

Guil -_-: My grandma said she hadn't shampoo in old times, and she had a beautiful wavy hair without chemicals or hair products!

wherearemyhatchets: He’s the Bob Ross of fitness and health :’)

Angiel Stahley: “it seems like everyday we stray away from the path of calisthenics!!” I am dying laughing

DummyHead: I have curly hair and I definitely recommend to try and keep the number of products you use to a minimum. I just use shampoo conditioner and occasionally some hyaluronic acid. I recommend Function of Beauty. You don’t have to get it online, you can find it at Target. Just get the ones for you hair type and you can get add ins if you want to.

Gabriele Domingos Jardim: Every video of this guy warms my heart

NightWink: Thank you! Finally someone else says something! For some reason, my friend thinks it's weird and gross that I don't wash my hair every day. I'll have to show her this.

Shubhashree Patra: It seems like everyday we stray further, from the path of Callisthenics! You are awesome!

Yusuf Thamzeer: ‘I am not a shampoologist or anything’

sidhedanu: I wash once every 2 weeks. It's easy once your hair is past your tailbone as long as you brush with a boar bristle brush or comb with a wooden comb (or both). It's also necessary with hair that takes 8-12 hours to dry.

Nik MacFarlane: You are such a bright light in our world. Thank you for your neverending positivity.

Lucy: i dye my hair so i try to wash it as little as possible, and he’s right that hair doesn’t need daily washing. it took a little adjusting, but my hair can go 2 days without needing dry shampoo, and about 3 or 4 days after that with dry shampoo. i normally wash it every 4-5 days, though, since my scalp is a little sensitive and doesn’t handle buildup very well.

Fallen Victory9: Thank you ☺️ Thank you for showing Bambina, The Bamboo. You always make my day, enjoy yours!

nabila: Finally someone who's real! Everyone I see on social media, even though it's because of their genetics and hormones, when someone asks for a hair/skincare routine they just show a bunch of unnecessary chemical products. So thanks for being real. have a great day! <3

Claudio González Rivera: Hi man! I love your videos, and couldn't help to miss a part where you recomend hair products not tested in animals. I don't know why, but I kind of thought of you that way, and maybe you could do a video about this someday? In the path away from calisthenics?

Chab_sky: Now, this is something I actually do. Not washing hair with shampoo every single day. It saves money, too!

The Human Practice: Very very relatable content here Hempton-san ! Thanks for your wisdom. I shall invite you to tea sometime

Naught Meinäm: Here's another bomb to make hair care seem like even more of a hassle than it already is: washing it is bad for it, too. Wetting your hair causes the cuticles in the hair fiber to stand up, resulting in increased friction with the rest of your hair and objects like pillows and hats, which damages it. Even without placing your hair against any objects, simply wetting it over and over gradually weakens the hair as the cuticles stand up and retract over and over. In other words, when it comes to hair, there's literally no winning! The best you can do is avoid wetting and washing it as much as possible, but that obviously becomes gross and unhygienic, so screw us!

MiyaMiya: For my curly hair folk: We need water and hair oil! Oil your ends because the coils of our hair doesn't allow oil to travel to our ends properly. :)

Kaitlyn Hardy: I have like two feet of hair and it takes over five minutes just to shampoo, then another five for conditioner. I don't like to blow dry my hair, so I always let it air dry. I used to wash my hair every day, but deciding to only wash it every other day (sometimes every few days) has been the best decision ever. Lots of saved time and I also realized that my hair wasn't as dry and didn't break as easily

The Real Bloomer Colfax: I only shampoo my hair once a week, feels great. took a few weeks for my scalp to adapt, hair was greasy during those weeks, but now it's back to normal and i buy way less shampoo

TW Steele: Hair care question: I love the texture of my hair after I dont wash it for 3ish days, it builds up enough oil to hold itself together and not just look like a frizzy mop sitting on my head. But I work in a very dusty manufacturing environment that makes it so I need to wash it daily. What product could I use to mimic that natural oil? Using oils gets rid of the friz but has no holding power, using wax or gel has holding power but makes my hair crunchy and stiff.

Antoine Fekry: As a pharmacist, my advice would be to use baby shampoo as it doesn't contain any harsh chemicals that may cause dry scalp or weaken your hair. It's cheaper than the shampoos claiming they're SLS free and it's exactly the same components!

reb let: Hey :) i run into your channel, Might for some reason, this list and your clear personality touched myself, thx! go strong, go on Wish you the best

Shaila Mahveen: His hair flip in the last and that laugh was better than any girl's I've ever seen.

Rebel Greninja • 69 years ago: me: "uses only shampoo" my hair: ooh such happiness i'm so beautiful! my sister: "uses 10 different shampoos and conditioners and all the things she uses idk" her hair: felt cute might be bad later

Potato Soup: I just stumble upon your channel a few days ago and what can I say? subscribed your channel and your level of wholesome helps me stop smoking ever-since :"D keep the positive vibes always, Hampton!

Tova Holmberger: I use a sulfate free non-foaming "cleansing gel" for my everyday washing, though sometimes I do only conditioner (no silicones). Once in a while I use a deep cleansing shampoo with ALS (which is a sulfate but the molecules are bigger than SLS so it doesn't dry out as much).

Makumba Ataman: I love this whole charismatic vibe you gave. Oddly entertaining

Jason Skene: I have washed my hair with only water for over 4 years. Looks great smells fine. I wash it with only water about 3 times a week I also have no used soap on my body for same amount of time. Only water. And coconut oil. And I never have BO! It’s amazing

insert creative name: The fabulous hair flip at the end is the definition of perfection

Vincent Guttmann: Even though we strayed a bit from the path of calisthenics, I don't mind that. You're genuinely wholesome and make my day every time.

Evangellia: Thank you, hopefully I could get hair as fabulous as yours✨✨

Bones: As someone whose hair reaches her , you can wash the hair that touches your face every day, but the rest of it is FINE if you don't use 1000 products (which you're less likely to do if you're not over washing your hair) I wash mine once, max twice a week. Way healthier.

Krushna: In India we use the shrub called as 'shikakai' (senegalia rugata) to wash the hair, it cleans the hair without any side effects, it's also a natural cooler and keeps the scalp moist. It's been in use for nearly 4 millennia to wash the hair for a reason. Also, apply oil to hair regularly, preferably coconut oil.
