She Cut Her Hair Off And Relaxed It Because It Was Damaged

Hair care, usa, there we go um. Today we are going to finish up a pixie cut that we did on my client here who came in um, basically ready to, i say, start over without the work ready to start over um. She was natural when she came in and then we decided to go ahead and relax her and then give her a good cut. I'M gon na give y'all a funny story, so she came in real, confident y'all. She came really really confident with her hair she's like yeah. I want long hair in the front. I want long hair in the front and she got her hair and something just said crystal see the hair that she brought just to make sure before. I prime her for this extension to only find out. She brought hair. That was kind of like a 27 piece and her hair is already a 27 piece. So we don't get any length from this here um. So we it just so happened that we worked out to where we still had a pixie um. But you want to give a little background story as to how you got to this point of cutting your hair you're comfortable, doing um. I don't know just something to do again: change up tired yeah. I want something new. Okay, that works. That'S a good background. She gave y'all a short version of the background, so first things: first, if you're new to my channel, go ahead and hit that thumbs up button and hit the subscribe button, um and then we're gon na go ahead and style. Her up i'm gon na clean up her nape area. I already actually did the cut and i get this question a lot most people like, oh my gosh, you know if they were dealing with any type of damage or anything of that nature, then why you know, why did you relax it isn't that gon na make It worse or whatever the case may be, to be quite honest: relaxing your hair is not what makes it worse or makes the problem worse in some cases, but if you're not taking care of your hair when it's natural keeping it natural is going to do what. Because you already are not taking care of it in a natural state. So this way for me so me being that that stylist, where oh no everyone should be natural and embrace it. Is that going to put you back into a place where you're going to take? Take better care of it. No, so i'm not against relaxer, i'm not against being natural, i'm not against either one i'm all for pro. I'M i'm pro care. It doesn't matter if you're natural overlap as long as you're caring for it. That'S all i care about if you're natural and not caring for it, then maybe you do need to be relaxed because you're going to change your mindset automatically telling yourself that this hair requires a lot of care and if you're relaxed and you go to natural, because You say it's just not working and you feel like your hair is breaking off even more or whatever. The case may be then go right on ahead, but don't just not do anything and that's kind of where a lot of clients end up in situations where you just don't do anything and now you're stuck now you're at a shortcut like i get people. Oh, you always want to cut people's hair. No, i don't want to cut people there. They come with the notion already that they're ready for a cut. So why am i going to take that that vision away from them and be that that advocate of long hair and oh yeah, yeah yeah, you got to keep your hair long and no you do whatever you want to do to your head. That'S that's just where we are with it. So i'm more say just wanted to film the video just to kind of give you guys an idea of you know what a pixie cut looks like, because a lot of people don't understand what a pixie is. A pixie is a short style, so you guys notice how short she is up here. She was actually already short. I didn't even have to cut off a lot of hair. You guys like we were already there am i like once i relaxed her hair. She had really what i was cutting off with split ends, so do i feel like we did the wrong thing? No, i think we did the right thing, because now she's going to be forced to take care of it. That'S number one she's going to be more confident, that's number two, because she has a short style so now it requires her to actually do something to it right right. So i'm going to rinse out my client here who has a relaxer in i'll, bring you guys over here, because we actually are doing the relaxer rinse anyway so forward for me come back and i don't want her to get irritated. So, in the meantime, in between time, you guys get to kind of see two services unfold at one time. I want to hear reasons why you're relaxed or natural, and you can just type it in the comments. Tell me your reasoning for why you're relaxed or tell me your reasoning for why you're natural and i know a lot of people are going to say. Oh i'm natural, because it's healthier for the hair. Well, i see a lot of people with natural hair and it's jacked up, i'm sorry to say it and then i see oh i'm relaxed, because i can't take care of my hair when it's natural, but i also see a lot of people with relaxed hair and It'S jacked up too, so tell me your reasoning behind it and don't be scared, i'm not going to demolish anyone in the comments. I promise i'm relaxed it's easier to manage and style. Yep me too, i'm most definitely relaxed because i enjoy my shortcut. I enjoy not having to worry about 17 000 products in my my arsenal, natural since 2004 alopecia. So let me ask you: would you be natural in having alopecia? Is your? Is your alopecia gone or is it still there because that's another reason why i hear a lot of people say: oh i'm relaxed i'm natural because i got alopecia and i don't want to make it worse. Well, okay has being natural allowed that hair to grow back too i'm relaxed because i don't like nasty hair, [ Laughter, ], okay, listen you hear it all. Okay, like i have clients that say you know. Oh no, you know my dermatologist told me no chemicals whatsoever. Um, you know, and here's the irony to it my dermatologist told me no chemicals at all. I'M not comfortable this. This this, you know my dermatologist told me. That'S the reason why my hair's falling out, but your dermatologist is the same one. That'S giving you steroid shots in your head. What'S that a natural steroid, because i don't know any it's a chemical. So what's the difference, you just basically are giving it to them in the scalp. Oh yeah, my dermatologist told me, you know it was the relaxer that took my hair out. Well, your dermatologist, his name is becky and she has blonde hair. I'M sorry! So becky don't even know how to do your hair. So becky's telling you this. Why your dermatologist's name is bill uh-huh and bill uses the toupee. So i mean give me your actual logic like i need the logic here make it make sense. For me, please, let's see, look natural because i love my bouncy curly hair. That'S a good reason. You, like your curl pattern, i'm natural, i use my wash days for self-care, perfect natural since 2016. Just wanted something different. My hair was healthy when i relaxed it and healthy with it natural see. I like that. I like that you care for it when it was either way. Now i know there's some people who went natural because y'all remember the girl she had um, a natural tapered cut seems like janelle monae or something somebody like that. She always wears red lipstick, she's, really pretty. She had like a natural tapered cut. Y'All, remember, janelle, monae janelle, everybody's name is janelle, so i don't know which one you know who i'm talking about. I know yeah. She had a. She had a tapered cut right. Remember she had natural hair, yeah. Okay, a lot of people went natural because they wanted her styling and they got real pissed off when she relaxed that hair. Real fast uh-huh, a lot of people went natural. A lot of people went natural because they thought oprah had all this bouncy hair and not knowing she had clippings the entire time uh-huh. Oh yes, so a lot of y'all went natural for the wrong reason. I'M sorry! I know i'm stepping on a lot of toes today, but i'm so sorry about that. I just speak the truth. I just speak it hard. Some of you went natural because all your sisters said girl. That'S the way to go, that's the way to go and then that same sister that was telling you that's the way to go. That'S the way to go. Her husband told her. He don't like it now. She got a relaxing and now she's. Looking at you like girl, you should get a relaxer too uh-huh. I remember i love her music. Somebody said i'm relaxed because my hair is nappy, nappy, [, Laughter ]. Now i have clients and let me i use jokes and laughter because people accept that better. Let me be serious and hard and all that stuff, so i also have clients who they could not get relaxers any longer, because their body developed an allergy to it there. That has also happened. I have clients where it wasn't necessarily the relaxer, but it was the stylist that was doing the relaxers to their hair and they were relaxing them based on their rent schedule. So every four weeks it was girl. My rent do tomorrow, so everybody's getting a relaxer today and they're over processing your hair. Now you don't have anything left, then vice versa. I have clients who were natural and they were going to the dominicans and getting that nice bouncy blowout every tuesday and thursday for 35 dollars and six tuesdays go by and now they look like they had like their cynthia doll from rugrats. And it's a fact. So it's it's like if you're going to do something, do it with a purpose. I know the reason behind it: [ Laughter ], not the rent schedule. Okay, you don't know hairstylist like i do. There'S plenty hair stylists out here. Wear your hair cut your hair color! Your service is dependent on their bills for next week. That'S what you're getting oh girl! You know you, don't you don't need to get a washing style today, because that's only forty dollars girl you, you need to go ahead and get you a sew-in cause. That'S 300! Knowing that your clients here can't even support the threat that you're about to put in there much less the sew-in, so i want you guys to use that that notion when you are making your decisions for your hair, that make it make sense for yourself. Don'T do it out of peer pressure, don't do it because it's trendy, because trends change overnight. It takes one celebrity for a turn to change cardi b decided to wear blonde, so the whole world's gon na wear it now. This gray color, is in gray, was not a color that was in baby. That was a color that we covered up now, all of a sudden, you requested it it's alive. Am i lying okay? Thank you. Come on up it's not it's a request now set up for me. So we're about to put a bluish purplish color-ish thing on her hair um she's. The only kind that lets me put colors on her hair. I get to be creative when i'm ready, so the color that i'm using is very stainy. It usually stains the scalp. How long did this thing last time? Um it only stained like a couple of days or so, and then it faded right, yeah good. So this is gon na, be the color that's gon na be on her grace and just that fast it has stained my fingers, all i did was touch it. So this is a semi-permanent color, it's deposit. Only i'm gon na try to keep her hairline from staining, but when you're trying to cover gray, you kind of don't have that luxury all the time it goes wherever it wants, but we're going to try. So here's our color, but you can't really see, but it's blue, what color purple it was blue, but i have purple before that. Okay, so with this color, you have to kind of be gentle and just kind of like glaze over the hair, which is very complicated when you're doing great coverage. So while it is a um heat protectant, it's also a glossifier or shine enhancer. So once you put it on the hair and then you apply heat, it's going to give it the shine or it's going to enhance the shine of the hair. Without you doing anything extra, so it's a shine enhancer, but it's not a glossifier. You still need a spray to add that extra sheen to the hair, but it's going to give that natural luster by just applying it and then applying heat all right, not a good thing with pixies. You can also use your fingers and finger style and all that stuff you can do all that good stuff. She can put her scarf around the sides. Wake up go on about her day. It sounds a little funny because i'm like okay girl come with the follicle sleeve, so the adhesive is not going to touch her hair. It'S not even touching her scalp okay, so the adhesive is on top of the protectant, which is about three layers of protectant. Actually not even about it is three layers of protectant and then the scout so curl it at night. So you don't have to curl it. It'S not like the straight hair when you have to curl this hey. So so this little piece right here saying saves lives. The closure, when you having to kill yourself to try to close it, and you got ta figure out where to put it, you got ta, lay it right. Some people prefer doing their own closure me products smarter, not harder. This is why then they catch y'all. Oh, you know you don't know how to do that. I know how to do it, but i don't care so all right still uncomfortable showing or you want to keep it good. Now. Okay, you want to keep this up. Oh okay, i'm like sure all right. You guys so we're going to blend this into her hair, so she still has all her length back here which it works out for so i don't have to do a whole heap, but we like to cover the sides over here. So what i'm going to do is i'm going to thin it down so that her sides are fully covered and it gives it a little more um. What'S the word, i'm looking for fullness all right, so so so what i'm doing is just thinning it down so that it blends better. You guys see that blend. That is a blend all right. That is how you blend extensions. So we're going to do the same thing on this side. I guess i'll turn her, because i know all y'all want to see this song um. So if you notice i'm making sure that i'm putting a lot of tension on the iron to seal the hair, all the way through, like i like to curl and slide, i guess i guess you call it like slide curl, because i like to directionalize my hair, But i don't know how else to describe it. Okay, oh i can't miss it when i hear the noise all right, so we're going to do the front. So if you guys can see here, she got a little bit of alopecia going on, but you won't know. Look at that, you won't know honey things that we can do all you're gon na know she got a banging hairstyle. So who can tell me why i curl vertically? What does curling vertically allow me to do? I haven't asked that question in a long time. What does curling the hair vertically allow me to do volume? Yes, fullness, faster curling, and it also for the person that acts about the feathering. It can also help with your feathering. I can cover more ground a lot faster. I can cover more ground faster curling. This way some people like to go row by row. I think that is just not when we're gon na get the same, the same look and it allows me to directionalize the hair beforehand. So all right, so let's go ahead and get her all combed out here. If your stylist still puts cholesterol on your hair, they need a slap too, but the products your stylist use, it kind of tells you who they are like. Is your stylist always using premium products on your hair, or are they always using products that you yourself can go buy in the beauty supply store? I don't do retail strength, chippy chippy products. I use products that i use in my salon. All my products outside of my chemical service products like relaxer like neutralizer and violet based shampoo. Those products are not my products, but any other shampoo, conditioner deep conditioner, whatever my entire back bar, excluding my relaxer products, is my product. That'S a fact. I don't use anyone else's product. Why? Because my products are made professional strength for professionals and also clients. I do 100 clients some months. I do 80 clients and i'm sitting here and i'm like man, i'm doing all these clients. But my money, don't look like i'm doing all these clients because number one i was paying salon rent. I was doing all kinds of other things and then i was burnt out so by time i made the money. I wasn't even enjoying any of my own money at a certain point, because i was always burnt out. I had to have an assistant all the time. Like even now, even with my two days a week, i want an assistant, i'm sorry, i don't want to keep running back and forth to the shampoo bowl. I want an assistant even now, so i think i am going to hire an assistant and i'm just like. No, i stop. I stop overworking myself like that. We are the only race within this profession that overworks ourselves like this for a couple dollars because you're afraid to charge what you're worth you're afraid to tell a client. You don't do that! You don't do that service. You know silence get afraid to say that they don't do a certain service or they have to offer this service or they're not going to make any money. Silence are afraid to tell you: listen, i'm i'm only working wednesday and thursday. What what what is miss janice going to do, if i'm not here on tuesday well, miss jenna's, got to figure it out, i'm so sorry, because miss janice has her free time. I don't you got ta know when to say no. It took me a long time to say i stopped letting my my schedule of my salon control my entire life. No, it doesn't. I'M going to walk in my purpose of what kind of styles or what services i want to offer and not be a a master of nothing and a novice at everything and i'm offering everything, and i can't master anything. You know what i mean: ob gyn. They don't do plastic surgery. Okay, your optometrist. Don'T work on your knees, so you got to think about yourself like that.
