Yes, this is what I look forward to every year time to go on a vacation, but a trip is only perfect if it's stress-free, if your hair is taking up 99 % of your problems. Well, then, you need this video, I'm about to explain the exact beauty products that you need to keep your curls in tap and looking flawless on vacation, and I'm also going to share with you very easy tips to make sure that your hair stays cute throughout the Whole trip because, let's be real, if your hair looks cute, then you feel cute and if you feel cute, then you can take two pictures and that's really what vacation is all about right right: let's get packing. Okay, first things: first, we're gon na take deep breath in pale X, oh because I know that you're probably feeling very overwhelmed about all the beauty products that you have and that they're not gon na fit and that you're gon na go over your weight limit and That the trip is gon na be ruined now just take a breather, because I have a solution to your problem now. The first thing that you need unrelated to the hair and the skin products is the containers they will be in and since I only buy massive size, haircare bottles, I just head over to the dollar, store and purchase these refillable containers in these bottles. I pack my shampoos, my conditioners micro creams, my gels, everything that I can into these guys. The 100 milliliter bottle is absolutely crucial. Assuming that you're going to be packing, carry on most airlines have a liquid limit in your carry-on of the not exceeding 100 milliliters, but see I notice that they never limit how many 100 milliliter bottles you can have. Therefore, the system pack, whatever you need. However, many you need in your refillable bottles, and now I can keep these valuables close to my heart and in my carry-on and therefore, if, potentially god forbid, your luggage goes missing. You have what really matters in your carry-on. So now, even though half of your clothes are missing, your hair will look cute now moving on, let's get into the categories of things. These are the categories of the products that you will absolutely meet. If you are going to the tropics somewhere, where it is hot and humid, that's usually where I'm gon na go, then these are the types of products that you will need to keep your hair tamed. So, let's get into the product, shall we one you're gon na need your cleansers. I usually have multiple cleansers that I go down with because think about it. You'Re, probably gon na wash your hair every day, maybe every other day, which is a lot more frequent than usual, so I always bring. This is purple shampoo for me because I'm blonde. I just bring this because I know I'm gon na be washing my hair. A lot and the Sun could cause my hair to go a little bit brassy, so this just keeps my blonde color in check and usually what I'll do. This is a blonde hack. It'S a mixed like purple shampoo, because mine is very pigmented with a moisturizing shampoo. So that the purple shampoo doesn't dry out my hair and boom, I have a nice cleanser and the second cleanser I'm going to bring is a co-wash so that I'm not over stripping my hair of any moisture. But I am going to be cleansing out the sweat. The sand, the dirt and the oils from my hair, so that I don't think so. That'S your cleansers! Moving on! We need our conditioners, I say conditioners, plural, because you need to bring conditioners that cater to your hair needs I'll, usually try to bring a protein conditioner. A moisture, conditioner and also a leave-in conditioner, do not forget the leave-in conditioner, and if you don't want to bring all three because it could be a lot, and maybe you don't need a protein conditioner or all of the above having a leave-in conditioner is a great Two-In-One and it's an amazing product for when you're at the beach or you're at the pool - and you just got your hair wet so that you can head over to the showers rinse all your hair and apply a leave-in conditioner. So conditioner is something you need a lot of now before you start asking. No, what are you using? I will link all the products that I use below. I just want to talk generally about product types. Make sure that you have everything you need on your checklist for a good hair day and if you need further help of figuring out which type of products work for which climates and for your hair type make sure you check out my seasonal routines, you will be Able to find those video links in the description below moving on you will want to bring a treatment. This is a routine I like to do. Let'S take a look. At day, 1 day 1 I went swimming I played in the sand. My hair was a hot mess. I go back to my room, I shower and I'm doing a thorough shampoo, so I'm gon na be using my purple, shampoo or whatever good cleanser that I have and because I just did a deep cleanse, I'm going to use a mask treatment. Now, there's a lot of different mask treatments out there I like to use one that is fast-acting because, let's be real you're on vacation, you don't want to be spending a whole lot of time on your hair. So pick a mask. That'S gon na work in 3 or 5 minutes and then rinse it out. So I will do a mask and a treatment on the days that I get a good cleanse. Oh and then, on the other day, when you know you only need a light cleanse. That'S when you would Co wash and do a leave-in conditioner and then proceeded through styling, so those are really the two types of wash days that you will be having on vacations. Got it get it good after that? Really what you need is your stylers, and by stylers I mean a curl cream and the gel, or is it a foam and a gel for my high porosity hair and for high porosity hair in general? You do need a cream because it needs that moisture to hold it down and a gel. But if you have low porosity, hair you're, probably able to skip the curl cream and go straight into using a gel, but a gel is absolutely crucial. So you can get a cast if you can't give your hair hold your curls, do not stand a chance in humidity, so once you make sure you have your stylers, which is your curl creams and your gels and or foams, then you need your finishers, your finishing Products that will seal everything in one that I use and one that I love when I'm on vacation is this beauty curl. This has UV protectant in it anything with UV protected in it is absolutely key. So that's why I'm pointing out this one, and I have also used a damage, control spray that has UV protectant in it, and you can see here. I carry it in my little travel bottle. So these things I will spritz it throughout my hair when I'm heading to the beach and I'm Sun screening, my skin, I sunscreen my hairs. Okay, so next we're gon na be talking about the tools that you need to enhance all of your Styles when you're on vacation and to make your life a whole lot easier. Now the number one misconception when you're on vacation is that it's so much easier to just let your hair air-dry. This is a myth. I tested this theory out and any time I love my hair tried to dry when it was humid, think about it. There'S humidity and moisture in the air - and I want my wet hair to dry in that my hair was a Frizzle. My hair was super soft and moisturized, but it didn't have the curl definition that I wanted now. If you are trying to achieve good definition, then I recommend you bring a universal diffuser and if you don't have a universal diffuser. Whilst I was on vacation and I needed a diffuser because hotel rooms never have them, we bought a little sand box kit and in the sand box kit was this little strainer for finding seashells and I thought wait, a tick I'm going to use this to diffuse. My hair - I just used this so if you don't have a universal diffuser and you don't have this thing, bring a strainer that you have and use it using the same diffuser method that I show in my video. If you haven't seen the diffuser video, you absolutely need to check that out for frizz free results and use the same methods. And then you actually are able to get your curls to have a cast to be defined. And then, when you go out into the humanity, because it's already finished, you are able to hold your style so much better. Now I know what you're thinking - oh my, but if I'm gon na be defusing, it's gon na take forever, and I don't have time to do all that, like I'm on vacation, I want to be fast. I totally get it. I also want to be fast when I'm working with my hair on vacation and that's why I'm gon na use the fastest method that I know to get to find curls. You know what I'm talking about. First, I brush through my product with my detangling brush so I'll brush through my leave-in conditioner and micro cream, and then I like to take my Denman brush and I use it to go through vertical sections really fast throughout the hair. It can take all of three minutes and you're gon na perfectly define your curls, while also smoothing through your product and best of all you're going to save time and my last tool that I love to use when I'm on vacation is my shampoo massager thing. Magine. Don'T know what to call this thing, but this is the absolute best and it gives a really good scrub on your scalp. For some reason, my scalp is always it's you and I'm on vacation. It could be the change of climates. It could also be that maybe I'm sweating more because I'm extra hot, maybe there's sand in my hair - I don't know, but this feels amazing and what I love about using this when I'm on vacation is as I'm shampooing, I can already start detangling my hair with This now the last few things let's go back, let's see we got our products with our tools. Now we need our accessories. The final thing to make us look cute, you're, looking at two of them right now, one a hat for the curls, but two the scarf for protection. You didn't see that one coming did you. So if you like to wear hats on vacation, use a silk scarf underneath that will protect your curls, it will prevent too much indentation. I mean this really isn't the best material your hair can get caught in it. It'S going to cost for is your silk / cotton scarf will reduce all that and keep your curls underneath soft silky and protective speaking of silk and satin. You better make sure that you bring your bonnet on vacation and very easy to forget to pack this because you're, probably wearing it the night before you leave, but bring your bonnet with you, because you will thank yourself when you wake up in the morning and you Slip it off and your hair is still fresh, but let's say you do forget your bonnet or you don't have a bonnet or you can't sleep with something on your head, you're already hot enough. It'S just gon na make you nervous, then at least having a satin pillowcase will keep your hair frizz free overnight, plus it's gon na be great for your skin, which is probably gon na, be in the Sun. A lot then, and make sure that you do not forget your hair ties. Okay, but my favorite bring your visibles to hold your hair in place without creating an indentation. You also want to bring some scrunchies because they are cute and they will not damage your hair and last thing. Optionally, make sure you have some clips and some bobby pins. If you are trying to do some cute styles, that are going to be easy, and before I go, I just want to leave you all with a very important travel tip. Okay, flight attendants. You feel the struggle worse than anybody. There is nothing worse than the air conditioning on the airplane for your curls. I can go on the airplane, the fabulous hair and leave with brittle dry, hair and skin. So I like to tie my hair and a silk scarf because, while I'm flying there's nobody I'm trying to impress everyone's on their iPhones and iPads anyways, and I still want to make sure that I look cute by the time I get there. So I will wrap my hair in a silk scarf or even wear my bonnet, because no shame because I want to maintain this hair and it really does save your hair come at me. Bro and the last thing to prevent any kind of disaster is put your hair products and your bottles into a separate bag, keep all accessories and everything away. Just put your hair products in a separate bag, whether that be a zip lock or something clear that you can see, zip that up tight and then put it into your bag to prevent any kind of spillages. You just want to do this in case. There'S any explosions and a quick hack for when you come back to prevent all next time is: keep your travel bottles in your bag and keep them right in your carry-on. So they're ready for you. The next time you travel and, and that's everything that you will find me packing when I go on vacation and of course, let me just quickly finish off the video with our credible tabbouleh, this one's from Zara. They can hear your comments and our quick question from a Wilda. This was left on our summer routine, video, which I also recommend you guys watch. If you are going to be going away, she's asking okay somewhat of a dumb question, no questions, don't is it putting oil on your hair like frying, your hair cuz, the oil is attracting the Sun. The Sun is further comment causing damage to your hair. Well, does it have UV protectant? I don't know how much oil you'd be putting in your hair. It'S not weight frying, because there's no way your hair is going to reach the right amount of temperatures, but if you're worried about your hair frying, maybe you should just cover it from the Sun, so it's not exposed. That will be your best protection. If you guys liked this video, give it a thumbs up and if you're going to be traveling, please drop your destinations below, because I'm looking for a new spot to visit - and I am I go where you're heading and for when you come back. Make sure that you check out my after travel hair care routine to get your hair right after all, the damage that you caused it when you're away, but those tres about all that damage right now be easy, be free, enjoy your vacation and I'll see you next Tuesday, peace did you get my fit because I wore this all cute. I love these pants. As a cover-up got these on Amazon. My strong son is out in a bit. Ok, it's the most wonderful time. Why do I sing a song every day? It'S the most wonderful time. No, it's the most wonderful time.

Shaunell MacGloan: Yes girl!! It feels so confirmed that someone else explains how curly hair is a job in itself. Those with straight hair just don’t understand. I’ve been taking this mane for years and years (47) and I feel I’m STILL learning. Thank you for sharing in your knowledge. You’re appreciated

blulight42: Girl I needed this video last week when i went to Florida. My hair was in a bun everyday haha ‍♀️

Mollie Kravitz: A better tip to prevent spillage is to put saran wrap over the top of the bottle (but underneath the cap), so that it truly cannot spill

Brianna Hernandez: T H A N K Y O U! The stress I go through when packing just my hair care routine while on vacation

Cella Paz: Just got back from Puerto Rico & I ordered travel sizes for my trip. I’m new to curls, so it was also a good way for me to try out new products without having to buy full sizes of everything. And now I found some new favorites! :)

Samantha Stickling: I actually mixed my protein conditioner and moisturising one into one bottle! Worked really well for 2 weeks in Turkey!

Ammie Walker: Thank you for this video! We love your videos. There are five curly girls in our house, and we are moving to Hawaii this summer. This helps us know how we can protect our curls. Also, you have helped my youngest (She is 8) finally accept and love her curls. She tells all the curly girls she sees that they "NEED" to check out your videos. Thanks again!

JejuanM: I'm a flight attendant, so thanks for the shout out and YES the plane air WILL damage your hair! I live in deep conditioner because of it.

Emily Avery: I’m leaving for bora bora tomorrow and I came across this video, perfect timing! Kevinn Poree: Forget vacation, all the things you said about humidity are my everyday reality where I live

Alexandra: Could you do a video about wavy hair types please (what products you would recommend, tips, etc.) My hair type is around 2b-2c, and It would be great hearing things from a professional, Thank you!

Ashley J. Zayas: For the bottles, I always put a layer of plastic between the bottle and it's lid. This keeps all of your product in the bottle and you can reuse those plastic bags you get when shopping :) I highly recommend Croatia (Zagreb and Split - rent a car and drive around to nearby towns too!!) and Lisbon, Portugal!!

Pat Hollett: Another awesome video!! Loved it! Travelling to Ireland and London in August. More rain and heat rather than humidity but these travel tips are soooo useful! Thanks Mel!

palomawoma: Holidays/Vacations for me are about enjoying nature and not giving two figs about what I look like. I love it!

Cynthia: So happy I found your videos! I'm 27 yrs old and barely started figuring out what works for my curls and lord knows I'm still learning. Thank you, thank you for all the info! <3

itsMelanie: Next week I'm going on holiday to Croatia with my girls, so this video came just at the right time! ☀️ Love your videos so much Mell! You're a lifesaver!

Noemie.Danielle: I have booked an appointement with you : YAYYYY!!! Look foward to see you and have the most beautiful haircut!!!

Josie Hernandez: Mel can you please do colored blonde 2b/2c wavy/curly hair in a in the chair with Mel episode!? This channel is awesome and hilarious! I’m having a hard time with getting curl back and I feel like I don’t twist correctly ☹️

Joseph McCarthy: When she pulled out that massive bottle of hair stuff I had an insane amount of jealousy coz I WANT IT

Milky Way: THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED!!!! Thank you SO much Mell❤️❤️

Giulia Settimo: Hi Mell, I have two questions. First: Do you suggest to use different shampoos during the vacation and after? Like the normal one during vacation and one more clarifying after or a good clarifying during the vacation and proceed with an even more intense treatment after the Vacation? If so, which shampoo do you suggest for fine, 2c-3a hair (still didn’t understand my porosity honestly) during vacation and which one for after? Second: what’s a good affordable leave in to use during the day in the beach? Ps: I’m truly in love with your videos ❤️

November S: Excellent and creative idea about using the toy box strainer if without a diffuser! Love it!

Swavy Curly Courtney: Your videos always make me smile! And Oh My Lanta, I wish I had seen this a week ago! I just got back from a trip. Ugh! My curly hair travels will be forever changed! Thank you!

Julie Bruce: Just went to Miami South Beach about a month ago! My hair actually loves the salt water...I hear ya about the leave in conditioner- that was a savior for the humidity!!

the JAE vlog: Omg. Is there anything you haven't touched on in your videos?! I recently discovered you and am thoroughly enjoying watching all of your content. Ive done lots of traveling to humid climates and always just gave in by being lazy and pulling my hair back. Your tips are inspiring! Thanks so much!

Aveda: We're loving these travel tips, Mell. ^bc

Justme77: You give great tips here!! I will use this next month when I'm traveling to NY in July! Thanks!

It's Andie: Thanks to your tips, my hair looks much better now <3

Cesia Saravia: How is Mell so amazing????? I got this video right before going on vacation!!!!! Perfect timing.

Rogue Angelxx: I love that you have Shea Moisture products listed! You always seem to use really expensive stuff, and that's great, but for those of us who want to do as the great Mell does, we can't always afford those. Could you do a review on Shea Moisture products please? Which ones work the best for you, which ones you avoid and why? That'd be super helpful and really cool. Thanks Mell!! Love your videos! You're so hilarious and incredibly helpful.

JuliaAnne RNY: Hey, Mell! Thanks so much for the awesome content! Do you have any tricks for those of us curly girls who use mousse?? I have no idea how to travel with mousse because none of my products come in travel size and I obviously can't put it into the travel size bottles. Any tricks around this issue?

Diana: Mell, headed to Virginia beach soon- your tips are SUPER helpful! Thank you so much!!!!

catiewesty: Girl I’m loving your videos.......thanks for the tips!I wear a lot of Sunhats and yeah they indent your curls like crazy. And sometimes get caught in your hair.

A. C.: I just came back from Barbados and it was Amazing! My hair loved it there... Was it the water? The ocean? The sun? All I needed was leave in conditioner and I had little 3B ringlets. I tried doing it at home and I just got 2C frizz

Sara Schwalb: This came right in time, i am flying to Tenerife on saturday and I almost forgot my silk pillowcase. Thaaaank you Mell!!!!

Catarina Mendes: You should definitely visit Portugal!! It’s so beautiful here and visitors usually love the beaches and the people. The capital Lisbon is wonderful but if you want to go to the beach the best ones are in Algarve. You’re amazing, love from Portugal ❤️

Caroline Dickson: Awesome video! I’m off to Morocco this summer so will definitely need to take note of these tips! Thanks Mel!

brandihawker: I needed your video two weeks ago when I was in Mexico. You are SO right- use a defuser! Air drying gave me one week of horrible hair and crappy pictures! ☹️

We Are Legion: Airlines do limit the bottles of liquids, creams, gels to what can fit into one quart-size ziplock bag. Not a gallon size. A quart size.

Yamina: You are so funny hahah:) thanks for all the tips! I am going to Cuba in november so very handy! The hat looks very good on you! I started taking more care for my curly hair and after a few months I noticed my hear is so healthy! Thanks to your tips and hours of experimenting, watching YT videos! I am even at this point I don't need to wash my hair for 7 whole days:):) I havent dyed my hair in maybe 5 or 6 years and never use heat but it certainly needed the right balance and love! Thanks a lot! Keep going!

Lisa Costigan: YES!!!! Preach.... i was in Varadero Cuba in May & followed your advice about gel as a necessity in humidity....used the tiny refillable bottles, brought my satin scarf for my pillow(easier to remove in morning so maid didnt put it in with other laundry), brought my hair buff(forever renamed my hair sock by my Sweetheart) & had my UV spray....oh my word!!! I never had sooooo many consecutive good hair days...EVER....especially in Cubasay whaaaaa??? It’s amazing what the proper hair products can do for you ....we golfed every morning & relaxed/napped on the beach in the afternoon ...I don’t/can’t swim so getting my hair wet wasn’t an issue(I do however like to frolic in the water)...all GREAT tips for traveling with curls...can you do a video for color treated hair in the summer??? Hey, I’m too young to pull off the salt n pepper look

AIME SOTO: So perfect for my Mexico trip next week thank you

K S: I wish this video was up before my vacation! I now need a haircut from all the damage I got in DR great video! You’re amazing keep it up

Maiden Makes: You are so funny but super smart. I really love watching you and binge watching your vids xx Lots of love from a curly 50 girl in Melbourne, Australia xx

Emily Victoria: Thank you so much for this! In July I'm travelling to Korea for 3 weeks and it's super hot and humid there. I've been constantly panicking about my hair, it's going to be a disaster!!

Silver Hiker: Great video! I actually take my sleeping cap camping. Never put my head on a thing without it or a scarf. Great tips. Thanks!

Katti Miller: The scarf in the hat: genius! I’ve actually burned my head through a straw beach hat before. #paleprobs

Emma Hammond: How long does it take you to diffuse your hair? I’ve watched your diffusing video and I get worried by the amount of time diffusing my hair takes. Thx

Jaik923: Amazing explanation. I know people like to vacation in the tropics, but I'm from Puerto Rico so when I travel is mostly to cold places (weird, I know) so it would be cool to hear about the essentials for cold weather. I'm always a mess because I'm so used to humidity that my hair and skin feel dehydrated.

Terry: I wish I had watched this video a week ago because I just got back from Sandestin, FL and man oh man, my poor hair was beaten down not just by humidity; the worst was the wind! It was a Double Red Flag (water closed to the public) week because of rip currents (even though it was pretty out there). I wore a baseball cap (it was all I had that wouldn't fly off-omg) with my poor psycho wavy pony tail whipping around in gale force winds. I swear I could hear it screaming for mercy! I will be watching your After Vacation Hair Care video in about 5 seconds! And THANK YOU for your videos. They are truly helpful and I'm learning so much from you!

GG Pink: Thanks Mell...another great video! ❤️ So many great places to vacay but my favorite two are Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and Gulf Shores, Alabama. You’ll need all your products for either one.

Maaike de Lange: MY favourite hack on vacation is brining a shampoo bar, it saves up weight and liquid! :)

Naomi Pena-Henao: I just want to say that I love your videos! They are very informative and has made me think about my hair in another perspective. Are there any tips you have for sectioning hair? I can never get the definition I want in my hair because I don't know how to properly section it. I always don't get enough product in the back because I can't reach there lol

A.N.: thank you mell for doing youtube. you're the reason my hair doesn't look like shite. srsly i had a bob cut 5 months ago

Adriana Barreto: Im going to Acapulco and im really taking notes from this video! I was in the middle of a crisis packing all the hair care products

Sonya Morgan: I really needed this video. I’m headed to Pensacola, Fl next week and we’re taking family pics. Prefect timing!!

Kerstin Behpunkt: Mell, guuuuuuurl! Thank you for the video. So helpful! My this year's baecation is going to be Portugal. We will do island hopping (Madeira, Porto Santo, back to Madeira but to another city). Love you!

margaret asher: Thank you so much for these tips I'm going on Vacation on June 19th and these tips I think will help.

Ria P: Love, love, love this - def needed this. Its winter in Australia and we leave next week on a 14hr flight to a summer California and jumping on a Mexican cruise then Las Vegas afterwards... my poor hair is already cussing me out.

Veronica Nevado: Mel you're my favorite person always with amazing tips! But I was wondering if cutting your ends at the end of vacation is actually a good idea to keep the hair healthy? At the end of the summer I am going to Cuba ! If you take tikets now they are super cheap ;) Love you xox

Lu De Marco: I'm going to Villa General Belgrano, Córdoba, Argentina in a few days! It´s literally like Canada (based in what I saw in videos): hella cold, sightly humid and I loooove it. So I'll watch your winter videos xoxoxo from Buenos Aires, Argentina <3<3

risingsun49: You dont have to use shampoo if you just need to get sand out you can wash your hair with conditioner. Also you can put suntan oil your hair at the beach and it conditions it while your getting a tan. Plus coats it so all the sand washes out fast. A hair oil is great too for curly dry hair. Just out it on when your hairs wet and leave it.

Amber Abbott-Farr: SO HELPFUL!! I repacked my carrier of beauty and hygiene products! Hope you had/have a wonderful vacation! Your hair looks like it's getting long!! Come visit the Grand Canyon!!

Moment to Memories: I love the shape of your hair cut. No stylist can ever give me what I want. It’s above the shoulder and I always ask for full volume. Lots of layers to show off my curls and each time I feel like a cocker spaniel because all the volume just at the bottom and it expands cause I live in FL. What is the term/s I should say to get a better cut for my curls? What does a stylist need to hear from me to get fuller rounder cut to show off my curls?

Constantina Say: Heading to Rhodes hope I won't forget all of these details, thanks for the tips

karinac1999: Well, I will be going to El Salvador for a month in December. Beautiful place, super fun. But I don't think those little bottles will be enough for my hair when we're only allowed a 1-quart size baggie of liquids. Will have to try to the in my regular luggage without going over weight. Lol
