Beginner Curly Girl Method Steps || Straight To Wavy Hair Transformation

I had never grown up seeing examples of Asians with natural waves or curly hair so I was absolutely *SHOCKED* to discover I had decent waves using the Curly Girl Method for the first time! The before and after was insane! Since it takes a few specific products to prep your hair, I wanted to share this easy beginners wash routine which shows each product to use and exactly how I used them to create no-heat waves by taking advantage of my hair's natural texture. This is how I went from straight to wavy/curly hair in literally one wash.

For a little hair background, I am ethnically Korean and my curl type is 2A. It has bleached highlights so it has higher porosity. Let me know if you have any hair questions in the comments!

She'S a model ISA every was man enough to see hey guys, it's Jen, so many of you guys have been asking how I do my wavy curly hair. I'Ve just been experimenting with this method for about the last two weeks, and I have just been so stunned with the result, I always thought I had straight hair somehow this happened literally from day one, so I'd be so interested in seeing how this works. For some of you, especially y'all Asian girls, like myself like, I did not know that this was a natural texture that even existed in my hair. So if some of you have similar hair to me, where it's mostly straight but then like kind of not quite straight, you know what I mean like a little bit, wavy a little bit fluffy. If you blow dry it that's kind of my hair texture. So maybe you guys have wavy hair too we're gon na see. So if you guys want to see my tutorial on how I get these waves, naturally with no heat, then keep watching to begin the curly girl, routine you're, going to want to reset your hair using a shampoo that has no silicones, but it does have sulfates you're. Just gon na use this, basically one sets going to clarify your hair of all of those previous things that have been building up in your hair, potentially keeping it from its curl potential. So I already did this: I'm not gon na wash it with this right now, but I just use the swab juicy green apple shampoo. This is very, very inexpensive. Now I'm going to start off using my typical routine, which is the Giovanni Tea Tree, triple threat. Invigorating shampoo, a lot of people just do a co-wash which is to use a conditioner or a clarifying conditioner to both shampoo and condition your hair, because my hair is less curly. I guess compared to a lot of people who do this routine. I am just doing a shampoo I've actually used in love so much in the past. This does not have sulfates in it, so it's gon na be a little more gentle. Sometimes, if I have a lot of buildup in my hair, I'll, actually shampoo twice to get my hair super clean and then my next step is to use the Tresemme botanic nourish and replenish with coconut milk and aloe vera conditioner. This is a product that you can co wash with. I really like putting this all over my hair about a couple inches away from my roots. Just so I don't get too greasy too quickly. I just sort of finger comb this through my hair. A lot of people talk about using prayer hands to sort of make sure all of the hair is really saturated. With this product during this process, don't be surprised if you have a lot of hair falling out. I really find that it isn't because my hair is falling out more, but it's more that I haven't been brushing my hair and so the hair that usually winds up on my brush. It'S just coming out at this step of the process, so don't be scared of a little bit of hair. Now that my hair is completely saturated, you definitely see it's very, very moisturized right now. I usually take this time to wash my body just so. The conditioner can sit in there a little bit longer and really hydrate my hair, but once I'm done with that, I usually will just flip my head over like this from the bottom scrunch. It upward this step is called squished condition. I love how the curly community has a whole bunch of little phrases to help. You remember things: it's pretty cute and you're starting to see a little bit of waves forming. So now I'm going to wash out the conditioners from my hair and then I'm going to add in just a little bit more to use a leave-in conditioner and we're going to go on to the styling stuff. So you can see a lot of the curls sort of forming there. Now I'm taking the kinky curly curling custard, I'm using a really good amount of it and I'm almost using like a milking motion with the gel, all of them my hands and in my hair and having it really saturated. I'M just squishing it again to try to get as much of that curl in there that I can and then with it still being pretty drippy. This is when we're going to go to the fluffing step. Then, once I get out of the shower I'll, take a large t-shirt, one, that's a little bit on the back ear side, I'll, just roll up one side and I'll do a method. That'S called plopping, which is where you sort of wrap your head in the t-shirt and the t-shirt will absorb the water from your hair because it's not quite as causing as a towel. It'S sort of the preferred method if you have wavy or curly hair. So I've had the plop on my hair, just while I've been doing some skincare getting dressed, doing normal things, not just like sitting around waiting for it to dry or anything, and then this is what has come of it. I usually will take the shirt and then just squish out any remaining water that I can just hold it in place versus rubbing it around already. I feel like it's so pretty it's still wet, so I'm going to let it air dry some more and then we're gon na scrunch out that crunch. So it's been a few hours since I washed my hair. As you can see, it still looks a little bit wet because now it's time to scrunch out the crunch, without trying to once again disturb any of the curl pattern, I'm just going to scrunch out the crunch. Alright, my hair feels nice and soft. There isn't really any crunchiness or anything to it anymore, so I guess that's about it. I hope you guys found this video really helpful. Let me know if you want to see more hair kind of videos, and I would also really love to know if you guys have tried this out. If you already have like wavy or curly hair, what products have worked for you, because I'm still a beginner. I would love some tips as well, so I love you guys so much. I will see you very soon. Love you bye. There must be something bad you've got the beauty.

Pam P.: I'm also Asian and while I never really had super straight hair, I really started to notice a significant change in my hair texture during college and I think it was a combination of hormonal changes and stress that caused my hair to turn wavy.

Akihiko-senpai: This is the equivalent to discovering that you actually have dry, dehydrated skin rather than oily because your skin is trying to compensate for lack of hydration LOL

Fafafafa a: As an Asian wavy I grew up wanting sleek shiny straight hair all my life, my friends all had gorgeous hair so I always used heat to achieve straight hair. Just few weeks before lockdown I gave cgm a go, I have never liked my hair so much!

J Tam: I recently started CGM as well and love it so much! Yes for all the curly Asians out here - we exist! I do the same “milking” method as you - it’s called roping and helps your curls clump together so you dont have thin stringy pieces later. I usually rope my hair into 6-7 sections. I would also recommend trying to SOTC with a few drops of hair oil, upside down. It helps reduce frizz. ☺️

Amy Zou Goodson: I used to have natural curls when I was a child and then slowly it became a wavy mess. Been doing the curly method with Not Your Mother's Natural line products and I'm seeing all of my curls back. I absolutely love it! Super happy to see you try it too.

From Head To Toe: When I heard of this method of bringing out the natural waves and curls in hair, I figured I'd give it a shot with my kinda-straight, kinda-fluffy-when-blowdried hair with very low expectations. My daughter has curly hair so as I was researching how to take care of her hair I came across the Curly Hair subreddit and subsequently the Curly Girl Method. I had never really seen any Asians testing the method out but WOW was I shocked with the results! I've fully transitioned over to using silicone and sulfate-free hair products and have loved bringing out my hair's natural texture as well as keeping it healthy since I rarely use heat on it anymore. Have any of you tried CGM out and did it work for you?

Leticia: I was JUST thinking about this the other day! Very interested in trying this out. Shout out to mostly straight/kind-of not straight hair girls! Thanks, Jen!

Rhian. Anise: Quick tip: deep conditioning will also add to the strength, shine, and hydration to your hair

Tanja Vibar: I seriously just realized my hair is wavy like this too, 2 weeks ago! I always thought I had straight hair but it was always a little frizzy.. so it was never really easy to deal with. I’ve been blow drying curls for years. Since I discovered that my hair is actually wavy.. I’ve been taking advantage of getting the curls I like with blow drying by twisting my hairs into about 6-8 pieces to make the curls stay and so that my hair doesn’t just “poof” up. I use curl creams and leave in moisturizer. But it’s funny that this popped up in my feed. I just use a curl cream and leave in conditioner from Shea butter for u, then I twist my hair into 6-8 pieces. It looks more like the blow dried waves.

maeflower522: I'm Filipino, and I always thought I had straight hair. I've started to notice that my hair grows from the root straight, but the ends will curl. My dad has curly/wavy hair, so I think it all makes sense. My go-to hairstylist, who's also Asian, says I have curly hair

Z: yes! I'm asian too and started the CG journey last year. It's not super wavy (so jealous of the mega transformations I see on insta and reddit) but it's sooo much healthier now. Can't wait to see more of your journey!

Amber Nichole: I just started the curly girl routine about a week ago. I'm Eurasian, and my hair texture sounds similar to yours. So far some of my waves have amped up and I'm excited to see what it looks like months from now.

Elizabeth Lin: We have similar hair types and I started after seeing your video on IG! Tips I've picked up along the way: use a wet brush to detangle and get the hair aligned during squish to condish and before styling, more water when you're doing S2C, I apply styler on damp hair (plop then style) and it gives me a better cast/definition and dries soooo much faster. Recently with diffusing I've also found I can use high speed low heat and get my hair dry in no time!

nikki escobar: Yesss we need more asian girls trying this ! I'm half asian half white and my hair is straight mostly but so thick and heavy and a slight wave , I cant hold a curl to save my life ! No curling iron or amount of hairspray or product ever gives me lasting curls! I'm gonna start my wavy/curly hair journey cuz I'm sick of this straight frizzy mess !!

Karen Chen: My friend was talking about trying the curly hair method and I sent her a link to this video! I love the results on you and I think you did a really great job showing the steps!!

Sarah U: I’m half Korean and also thought my hair was straight for the longest time. After puberty I got more waves and the curly girl method has made it much more healthy and defined. Since you have a looser curl pattern, I recommend you try ’glazing’ in your styling product because it helps maintain the curl clumps better than the praying hands. Hope to see more hair videos from you! Sorry for any grammar mistakes, English isn’t my first language.

Sakuratea0101: Fellow Asian girl here. Just did this curly girl method today and I have some natural beach waves to my hair!!! The only thing I did differently was attach 6-8 baby butterfly clips (or whatever clips you have) to lift some of the hairs at the root for more volume as it dried. Worked great!!! Also, to maintain so I don’t have to wash daily, I spritzed my hair with some water, scrunched my hair on top of my head and secured it with a soft scrunchie.

elle_jay: Hi Jen! Thank you for making this video! I’ve never seen an Asian person try this! I ended up trying it today, with just what I had (meaning sulfate and silicone shampoo and conditioner and no gel), but I still have a slight wave in my hair!! I’m curious now what it could potentially be with the right products! How do you maintain the curl/wave when you shower and when you sleep? I don’t wash my hair everyday, so I’m curious on what I can do to maintain it.

Anh Nguyen: Asian with 2b/2c hair (started out with 2a back in January when I first started CGM!) - currently struggling with my hair because of summer humidity, but I religiously used KCC in the winter / spring + a mousse on top, and it worked SO well for me (no plopping, just lightly scrunch out excess water and then diffused). I've been experimenting with different gels and humectants to see how my hair reacts during these summer months. I've seen a few comments about experimenting for your own hair - this is definitely true. I have normal porosity hair on the lower end, so I have to keep in mind what proteins I use in products and how much to moisturize. And, as I mentioned before, weather plays a factor! Despite some of the struggles, it's still so fun to see how hair turns out, especially if you thought you had straight hair with some texture your whole life!!

Itschristeljoy: I had super curly hair as kid but lost them over the years, nobody in my family new how to take care of curls. Then I found the curly hair method recently and they are slowly coming back. I am a big fan of the Cantu line-up. But you really have to be consistent with the hair routine pls keep us posted and share your experience after 2-3 months!

Amanda Wayne: Thank you for this! I had really curly hair as a kid, then it went straight when I was a teenager, and now I'm my 30's it's gone wavy again, and I've struggled knowing what to do with my waves!

Christine Kwan: Hi, Jen! Thanks to your video (initially on Instagram), I too have discovered that my Asian previously-thought-of-as-frizzy-puffy-sort-of-but-not-really-wavy hair is now truly wavy in a beautiful, frizz-free way (2B/C). I even used to get my hair digitally permed to achieve beachy waves. Who knew I had it all along? Anyways, I have never gotten so many compliments for my hair from so many people. I have directed them all to your video. Thank you again! BTW: just for info- I have tried the Briogeo Curl Charisma gel but prefer your Kinky Curly curling custard instead as it helps hold the shape of the curls more and adds more shine.

acnana: I don’t really follow the CGM, but basically I just began accepting my waves and stopped straightening my hair. It’s been 3 years now and my hair has zero split ends and feels super soft hair. The more you let it be and nourish it, the better it looks!

Kim Phillips: I’m half asian... my hair changed a lot after my kids and I started the curly girl routine with LUS brand products! It’s amazing!!! And smells so good. You should definitely give it a try. They have travel sizes. If you have wavy hair but want extra curl then get the curly vs wavy styling product. I use both depending on what I want. Everything else you do like applying and plopping, I do too. Let me know if you try it!!

Noelle Nguyen: Wow I questioned why the back half of my head had wavy hair! I’m going to try this!

Mica Pabia: I love the curly girl method! The same thing happened to me haha, I thought I had straight hair and never thought Asians could have natural waves/curls ❤️✨

Food Yoshii: This is the most quick and easy Curly Girl Method I've seen, thank you so much. It saves me time doing cgm for my hair.

Jess Salmon: A simple and quick video finally!! Thank you so much!

zivvvv: I keep researching in the CG method for two months and I'm soooo excited I came across ur channel, you have the same hair type as me and you explain the best out of the like 13 channels I've seen. Tks for your help!! Earned a new sub btw

bomi kang: i found this soooo helpful!!! i have the same hair type as yours and wanted to try the curly girl method but was unsure of what steps to do/products to buy since i have less defined curls. you're awesome thank you so much

Jennifer Byers: Just like you I’ve spent my entire life thinking that I have really frizzy and (not so) straight hair..... I moved to the US from Asia a couple years ago and started seeing really wavy patterns on my hair, and I thought it’s the water lol Just discovered CGM this week and everything makes sense now !! All the times that I would have waves were the times that I deep conditioned , let it air dry and didn’t bother styling my hair otherwise - that’s what brought out the curls !

Hey Jackei Beauty: Curly/ coils girl over here! I LOVE Kinku Curly curling custard. Their Come Clean shampoo is a great clarifying shampoo too. And if you want a gel that is natural but has a little less of a hard gel cast, try out Camille Rose Naturals Curl Maker or Uncle Funky Daughter’s Gel. Both are really good too.

Jannina Marie Londono: Hi, I love this! Starting my wavy hair journey. Can you make a video showing how you style your hair on the days you don't wash your hair? How often are you washing? Thanks again. Love this!!

Jiffy Bishop: I committed to this method when I was in college and couldn't be bothered by heat styling anymore. My hair was always bushy but not straight, tried out this method to get more defined "beachy" textured and it's been my go-to for years now! You should try the Deva-Curl beautiful mess girl sculping pomade. It's a curling gel that's a lot on the "firmer" side so when you plop your hair, it actually makes your hair stick better in that shape. Most curling gels I've found are to runny so they weigh my hair.

Mary Jane: this is one of the simplest, easy to understand CGM video I've watched. Thank you! ♥

Candy Lee: Thank you! My hair is just like yours. Hairdressers usually remark on my wavy hair, then just try to blow it out as straight as possible. This is much easier for my own home care.

Hollylizzie: I have mostly straight with a slight wave hair too and have been curious how this method would work on my hair. Love it!

a la orilla: I can't wait to try this. I always avoided the idea because I thought it involved a bunch of steps and products and heat. right now I simply wash and condition my hair every 3-4 days but if this can get rid of frizz and keep my hair healthier I'll definitely give it a go. I think Ill start with just a clarifying conditioner and a gel. how many days can you go before your hair gets oily?

starnight 핑크공작새: Girl, I would try a stronger gel! I was on the same boat: 100% korean with frizzy hair, and now I can see that I have 2b/2c curls. Gel will give your hair more definition and keep those curls you see right after plopping! I use foam+gel and it gives me so much more curls/waves!

Celia Rose: I have straight-ish hair, and actually started this method a few weeks ago, and my hair is very wavy after doing this! Super cool, and I'd suggest all of yall to try it.

Vi Nguyễn: I have been in the curly hair journey for awhile now and lets me tell u its getting better for us asian. I used to straight perm/ coloring/ even curl perm all the heat damaged u can imagine but my hair is still wavy now id say combination of 2a 2b someday its luckily get 2c. Keep doing it it will be more wavy!!! Love the vid btw :D

Rebecca Abrams: I'm mixed Korean and white and I've always had pieces of hair that dried straight and others that dry in curls - I'm excited to try to CGM and see if it works for me!

Mindy Eng: I'm so glad I found this video! My hair is usually straight, but a little bit wavy and super frizzy and fluffy. I'm starting to think that my hair is actually naturally wavy and the frizz was my hair's way of telling me to change up my routine. I'll be sure to try this the next time I wash my hair!

bytheseash0re: Ive always had frizzy hair with waves growing up but mum hated it (also we didnt know how to properly take care of hair that wasnt straight), so got it chemically straightened for years. I HATED DOING THIS. The CGM has been a savior. It's given me confidence, and has taught me how to truly love everything about myself. My hair is so healthy, shiny and has beautiful waves. It gets better the longer you do it.

Melissa Apiou: Just tested this today - I don't have the hair products so replaced with Aloe and Sea salt spray. It worked really well and better than a curler!! I have shoulder length Eurasian hair and they tend to slightly curl/wave/fizz with humidity and the result was so satisfying! Thanks!

Cin-a-Rynn: I've always had a very slight wave in my hair, and the texture just... changed one day, lol. Now it's pretty curly for an Asian, and I didn't change my hair routine at all. It's pretty weird.

Annelise: How often should you follow these steps? I know that with the curly girl method, you should only be washing your hair 1-2 times per week, but can you get your hair wet in the shower and then use the conditioner/gel steps on the other days?

Jaime Brooke30: I have slightly wavy hair after pregnancy. Before pregnancy my hair would look wavy post shower, but always dry mostly straight. It is crazy pregnancy brought my waves to life. I need to try these tecniques. I love my Oway nourishing drops oil. It helps keep my hair moisturized with a light neutral scent. I have a similar hair texture to you. I hope my waves begin to start higher on my head. I am looking for a really quick routine while caring for my 9 month old girl.

Muichih: asian girl here! i have natural waves when i air dry my hair but not ringlets. most people don't see it since i tend to blowdry it straight. since quarantine I've been letting my hair air dry and stopped using heat. I've really been liking my natural waves but one side of my head has more wave than the other so its a bit uneven. i'm guessing the less wavey hair is from heat damage. strangely, my hair does not like the curly girl method step where you use gel to define the waves, maybe because my hair is already heavy and the strands are thick. I think some of the finer hair girls like gel but not my asian hair. so besides shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner, i don't use any other products. after my hair dries, i actually don't even scrunch it out, i barely touch it.

la ry: wow as an Asian i really wanna try this. but I do have a few questions, hope you can see it amd ans them How often do you wash your hair? and will the curly hair be permanent after doing this method for a long period of time?

COcakelady: I tried the conditioning step using my regular conditioner (really working it in) and my hair is so much softer! Will have to try plopping.

Sagarika Maitra: I used to use the Giovanni line, it is so amazing and leaving your hair smelling mild and soft. I started my wavy journey a year and half ago and, didn't follow the techniques much but I did used cg products so my hair is in a safe place now and I recently started with the techniques again as well. I moved, so now I use the Maui Hibiscus shampoo, (not steady on the conditioner - Pantene for now) I will switch to a cg friendly one soon, Shea moisture manuka honey and yoghurt leave in and I recently started using the Cantu avocado hair gel, it's so lovely for me. I'm 2b hair type. I used to use Goat hair products, then Giovanni, and Cantu curl cream and Eden bodyworks marshmallow hydration serum last year. Loved everything but the Cantu cream was a little too heavy for my hair

Sue M: I have wavy hair and just tried out a brand called LUS. Their products are amaze-balls for wavy curly hair! I also do the plop method. You look good with wavy hair!

Mixi S: Hi Jen, I am half Asian (thai and german) and I have a similar hair texture like you. But it came out after I dont use any contraceptiva anymore. And now I am pregnant and its almost gone, I am curious whats comes next. My routine is really similar to yours, but my hair is much frizzier. Maybe I need some other products. In the Philippines a lot of girls have a chemical straightening, because the beauty standard is to have straight hair, but a lot of them have wavy texture. My Hubby is from the Philippines and a lot of his female relatives use the chemical method for straight hair

Marisa Hueso: Remember! You have to experiment to know what's best for your hair. What works for her may not work for you. One thing that really works for my curly hair is a defuser attachment for my hair dryer on the lowest setting.

Frances T: My hair starting changing after 30. Then I figured it just had lots of movement. Then at 42, I was binging YouTube and came across the CG method. Holy Mack’s. I have wavy hair. Like 2b/2c waves. Now I’m lazy and only wash my scalp every 3 days and condition my ends and don’t style it at all. It’s up in a bun unless I have something fancy to attend. Then I’ll follow all the steps. Main thing was to determine my hair porosity and discovering high protein products make my hair brittle and gross.

saturnprincess: I'm Asian and have the same hair texture (naturally wavy) as you! I, too, didn't realize this until I stopped blowdrying my hair in my early 20s!

Victoria Allen: I have long thick low porosity hair.. my under hair has no problem with waving, but the top of my head has a hard time staying wavy. I'm super new to wavy styling so if any wavies have any advice I could totally use it!

Eliza S: I started this recently and have mad waves and curls! 100% Korean with a lifetime of poofy hair! 2a/2b with a couple of 3a curls. Color my greys. Have a chemistry degree so here’s what I do differently. Keep using my Redken Mega All Soft shampoo and conditioner which are perfect for my coarse hair. The silicones in them are water soluble plus the mild sulfate in the poo fights my buildup. I cycle with a sulfate free shampoo, too. On Days 2 and 3, I gently wet my hair with my hands (haven’t bought a spray bottle yet), air dry without plopping, and then very slowly and gently run a wide tooth brush through my hair. Although that’s a no-no for other people, this gives me soft waves instead of a stringy look. Hope this helps some K-Gals! 잘해!

janiko0310: I'll be trying this! Just fyi, I've gotten back acne from keeping conditioner on while washing rest of the body Make sure you wash off the conditioner upside down so you don't get the conditioner residue on clean back..

CindyLee07: Last month, I went to Sally Beauty and bought the entire line, Texture ID Waves (shampoo, conditioner, enhancing spray and serum). My routine is shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner (As I Am So Much Moisture hair milk), serum, and the enhancing spray. I'm slowly starting to use mousse or gel to help seal the moisture in my hair. I did this for one month and I AM IN LOVE. I've changed my old routine when I discovered I have wavy hair 5 years ago. NEVER AGAIN WITH THE UGLY FRIZZ!

PinkBombshellcasing: Ahhh, you have my hair type! Not super straight but not super defined curls. I will try this method!

Grace Z.: I’ve always saw that my hair was frizzy AFFFF, like the frizz’s were curly and wavy. And also my baby hairs WERE CRAZYYYY, they would be curly and wavy. But I’ve always ignored it because I always thought that “Asians only have straight hair”. Now I’ve learned that we all have different beautiful hair!

amydd100: I have wavy hair and this is just how I do it!

Vicky: I'm going to try this out asap! I also got that korean nappy hair straight on the outside and inside is frizzy and wavy as hell. Lol :) looks nice Jen !!

Olivia: How do you get your waves to last on non-wash days? Mine look okay when they’re fresh but as soon as I sleep or tie up my hair, they become a frizzy mess. My scalp is also very prone to irritation so I’m reluctant to use additional product after day 2.

PowerRangerDuelist: I'd be curious to see a follow up video. I wonder if she maintained this routine and how it looks now. Her recent videos look like she styles her hair with heat so im curious if she gave up on maintaining the curls

Lindsey Winn: Going to try this! Thanks for posting. I’d love to know how you style it the next day (do the curls last overnight? How do you wear it to bed?).

Jess B: I had pin straight hair since I was a child but it got more wavier as I grew up. I noticed it changed once my hair started getting frizzy and it was always unkept… despite brushing it so much. Now my hair isn’t as unkept cause I take care of it differently

ThisisSarah 81585: I was worried that my hair was falling out. THANK YOU for clarifying that issue bc I was terrified

Sarai Ramírez: Wow, you look much more beautiful without makeup! You have a beautiful face ☺️

Sandra Murray: I have done this too! For about a year. But I gave up because it took too much time Maybe I’ll start it again but just at a low maintenance level

Pawsiez: Omg, I have naturally wavy and super thick Asian hair, I have so many questions! If you don't do this method for a day, does your hair revert back to less-defined waves? I also usually wash my hair before bed so styling gel is a no-go for me , is there a styling strategy for bedtime? Your hair looks amazing!

Real Love Journey: Great video! How do you style your hair when you don't wash everyday? Thank you!

Ackackack: Queen Jen coming out with another YouTube banger like always

Victoria Pena: This makes me extremely excited to try this method

Leilani Langsy: I’m S.E. Asian and oddly the only girl with wavy hair (2a-2c) in my family and many relatives aside from one uncle and guy cousin who have slightly wavy hair. As a baby/toddler I had ringlets and as I got older my hair turned mostly wavy with some curls. When I was younger I was never happy with my curl pattern I always wanted it curlier or just sleek straight hair but now I love it as it is. Some brands I like are raw sugar shampoo/conditioner, Cantu shampoo/conditioner, any of the Garnier fructis fruit/vegetable series products especially the 1min hair mask, as I am leave I conditioner, herbal essences mousse strongest hold.

yaxofossiad: Thank you for this, extremely helpful most of my issue with trying this has been not being able to shampoo. I'm a grease pit of i don't at least every 3 days. My hair is like mid back so I do like to brush it, when would I do that to not disrupt curls forming?

Allie Ann: Been doing CGM for 3 yrs, stay away from DEVA CURL products!!!! Destroyed my hair! Caused my hair to fall out, relaxed my curls making my hair coarse and stringy, and dulled the color and shine. 8 months post DC and having to cut 7 inches of damage, my hair is finally starting to get my curl pattern back. However, currently loving eva nyc products, aveda, shea moisture( with a light application) A&G have all worked wonders. :)

Jihada McSween: Your hair is so beautiful I think you would get better results if you diffuse it !

Pajtsua: Ouuuu I’ve always had long stick straight hair growing up so I am curious if this could also apply to my hair type... but I have a shorter length now so I’m not sure how the conditioning process would work for me

Dia N: i have somewhat thin hair that seems straight but it has that little curve ness to it lol. a lot of us will appreciate your video.

Liz Beckett: Whoa, my mum has curly hair. Trying this in the morning!!!!

Monique A.: I need to try this! I'm half Puerto Rican and half Korean but I have the most bipolar hair. My baby hair is alway curly and my body of my hair is wavy and straight. Can you see where I call it bipolar?! My hair doesn't know what to be or what to do! I'm totally trying this!!

Tracy Thomas: I have tight curly hair. The best hair care products on the market are Ouidad. There are four lines of product, loose, classic, tight and kinky. There are a lot of youtube tutorials on how to use her products. The Climate Control styling gel is the most important product in her entire line. IMO. Hope this helps.

Mal: Question! So when we first start out we should only use a no silicone (but yes sulfate) based shampoo ONE day and then the next time we wash we use a shampoo with neither ingredients?

Hanna Yoon: I MUST try this! I am also Korean but with slighttttly wavy hair (야간 꼽슬이) so maybe it will add a bit of volume to my hair at the very least!!

Rachel Jung: Omg I just found out I have Asian wavy hair too!!! This is so exciting! :D

Kei: Super helpful!!

galatheya143: I just checked the ingredients on tresemme conditioner and ran it through the curlsbot analyzer and it has two silicone ingredients: dimethicone and amodimethicone 0_0 Nonetheless, your video helped me loads to figure out how to do the cgm method. Really appreciate it! You're awesome!

PreMeYumLife: I use Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream to keep my waves frizzy free. thanks for sharing my lady! ❤️Sandy

brodamerons: my hair has always had a natural wave and gotten dry after i towel dry so i’m going to try this out to see if it’s the cause

Maryam Maquillage: GORGEOUS!!! so obsessed with your beachy waves!!

Geraldine Abueg: Cantu has really good products! I use the curl activator cream and scrunch it, afterwards I let my hair air dry

Jaine Yu Hilliard: I found out I had some waves in my hair after I had my son and I cut my hair short. I might try this method using some of this method to see if I can get some curls. I’m gonna steal my curly conditioner back from my son to use for this.

galatheya143: for the final wash shampoo, is it also a no-no if it contains alcohol?

Christina Park: if I already use sulfate free shampoo, do I still need to use a sulfate shampoo to begin the routine? xoxo love your videos!!

Anna Burns: Congratulations on your waves! I had a friend from China and she had waves. It surprised me.

tanshine17: Whats a good substitute for the Kinky Curly Curling custard?

kwunnkzz: Can you do a tutorial on the pink eyeshadow? xx
