How I up my YouTube game!

You know what I haven't talked about in a really long time: favorites hey there guys welcome back to my channel and, if you're brand new here hi my name is Courtney and I enjoy playing around with the curly girl method. Back in 2018, my hair went from looking like this to looking like this, and I was really able to improve the health of my hair, employing a lot of tips and tricks from the curly girl method. If you would please subscribe and click the notification bell, if you are interested in hanging out with me on some more videos, I do do a ton of videos on this channel all about the curly girl method and ways that I style my hair. How I use products all that jazz also, if you really enjoy favorites videos - and you find this video helpful - please give it a thumbs up. It lets me know that the video accomplished its purpose, which was to be helpful. The whole purpose of this channel is to be as helpful as humanly possible. Also, if you would please share this video, it does help me out and I would really appreciate it, but without further ado, let's get into the video of my favorites one of the reasons. I'M wanting to do an updated favorites video is that the last one I did was quite a while ago, and I have a little challenge for you guys stick around till the end of the video, and I will tell you exactly which products from my original favorites Video are still products, I love that are near and dear to my heart and then through deductive reasoning, you can figure out which ones I have left out, which are no longer making the cut of being my favorites, but over the course of time I absolutely have Tried out more products and they have definitely earned the title of favorite and I just hadn't gotten around to trying them in the last favorites video. So here are some of my new favorites. Please do not remove anything from this box. I am keeping my favorites in here and I am reusing that cardboard box first step. I want to talk about formulate these these products, guys this shampoo and conditioner. If you missed my original video, where I talked about formula, I will have it linked in the I up above, but basically this is a personalized hair care brand that is actually truly personally customized for you. They are able to formulate their products down to the one hundredth of a percent concentration. They have an incredible ability to tweak each formula for each consumer and they give you the customer direct access to the chemist that formulates these products. So literally, this shampoo and conditioner was made for my hair and I have really been loving using these products as a base to test out single stylers over on my Instagram. If you're, not following me over on Instagram, please do I would love to get to hang out with y'all over there as well. I definitely have some exclusive content to Instagram so check me out, but anyway with these products, I find that I don't need a separate leave-in or anything else. It literally is the perfect canvas for my hair to apply a styler on top of and see exactly how that styler performs. So these are definitely a new favorite. Another set of favorites that are actually fairly new to me, but have definitely earned favorite status, are the Kristin s fragrance, free, shampoo and conditioner. These are very nice formulas. I really appreciate that there are high quality products at the drugstore affordable, but really nice. I find that the shampoo leaves my hair, nice and clean and build up free. It does give my roots a little bit of a squeak which I Julie, kind of like, and I find that the conditioner has a really good balance of protein and moisture. For my hair, leaving, my hair really really nicely balanced, very shiny, very tangle free, their fragrance free, which I really appreciate because I don't know about y'all, but lately I've been having issues with fragrances at the drugstore. I am just getting so reactive to fragrance that when a company at the drug store offers fragrance free, I am deeply appreciative. Next up is a new favorite combo. It'S actually the AG recoil and the Harries gel this AG recoil. I have used it as a single styler and I find that it is more like a cream / leave-in than it is a gel, but it has crazy hold. I have used this by itself and it has worked well, but when I top it off with this Harries gel, my hair looks good guys. This has been a combo that I have really been loving. The hair ease gel. I know this poor label is already been rubbed off. I did purchase this online. It was shipped to me and the sealer label thing that I had to peel off, took some of the label with it, but this gel has so much hold and it gives my hair such shrinkage like crazy shrinkage, crazy cast. This may be really close to the strongest hold gel I have ever tried. I think this has more hole than my bio: silk rock-hard Julie. It'S amazing. The one drawback is that this was designed for men. This is mins haircare and it definitely has a Colo nice int that does linger in your hair, but the way it makes my hair look, it's just so pretty I'm also not reactive. To this fragrance. It doesn't make me itchy or cause any kind of allergic reaction, but pet fragrance, not my favorite, but it makes my so pretty. So what are you going to be? I forgot to mention AG recoil does have a little bit of protein in it. So I appreciate that it's moisturizing, while also containing some protein and poop the Harries gel - does not contain any protein, but it feels like it contains protein. I have no idea how they were able to do that on the formula, but it's quite impressive. It feels kind of gritty, but in a good way, in my hair. Sometimes when products are too terribly slippery, I feel like my waves and curls fall out of my hair, because everything is just too slick. This gives my hair just enough grit that it really holds its shape well without feeling yucky or unpleasant in my hair y'all know, but some products just feel way too gritty, like you put hairspray in your hair. It does not feel that way. It feels nice and touchable, but like good structure honestly at this point, I'm just grabbing things willy-nilly at random. If you are interested in seeing what order I apply my products in and how I use them, go check out this video that I have linked and the I I do explain the role of every styler in my routine. If you find that helpful in the beginning, I was definitely confused about where to use creams, custards foams, gels mooses like where do I use all of these products in a routine in a wash day like when do I put them on my hair? How do I put them on my hair? I do talk about that in that video. So if you need that info, it's there for you next up, I'm talking about two drugstore products guys. I appreciate these two products from the drugstore. I get a lot of questions about affordable, haircare and I've got to say that these wildly impressed me - and I have found myself reaching for these over some of my pricier products. First up I'll tell you a little bit about the can hair glue. Actually, this is called the mega hold styling steak, glue, humidity, old, sculpt, stay long-lasting, flake-free hold humidity resistant; okay, I just call it hair glue or hair glue gel. It really does have the consistency of glue and it holds your hair. So well, I'm pretty sure that this was actually formulated to like spike your hair for ten days, so you could go to a music festival and not have your hair ever move. This has crazy hold. I really like how it feels in my hair when I'm applying it. This is a very slippery kind of gel, but as soon as you scrunch it in, I felt my curl clumps really come together. There was absolutely no flash drying with this product for me and it felt very, very slimy in my hair, when my hair was wet. Then when I dried my hair, I actually got a really nice cast with this product. My hair, I don't typically get a very strong cast and a cast can actually help lend to hold in your wash day. It'S not absolutely necessary, but it is helpful. I have definitely had products that have caused a cast on my hair that haven't helped me with hold, but I have also had products with no cast that have given me. No hold I've had products with no cast give me great hold casts, does not equal hold. This product, it did give me a really decent cast, and it also gave me a really nice hold. It does contain quite a bit of glycerine. Glycerine is the yep third ingredient on this product. I do find that that makes my hair a little bit reactive and non ideal, dew points, but not so terribly so that I can't use it in the non-ideal dew point range. I really found too that this product made my hair very, very shiny, and the only other drawback to this product is the fragrance. I personally am NOT a giant fan of the fragrance, I'm not allergic to the fragrance in this product, but it does have a very strong kind of Canetti sent yeah, it's very Pina Colada and that's just not my personal favorite scent on the planet. This is still a favorite, though, because I was just amazed at the amount of shine and hold it gave me. It has a very fun unique texture and the price point is really hard to be another drugstore option. That is just absolutely incredible. Is the not your mother's blue sea, kale and pure coconut water sea, minerals, weightless mousse? Now I know that they label this a mousse, but I actually kind of refer to products like this as a foam. If you have to pump it out, I consider that a foam, a mousse, is a product that you just barely push the button and the product grows to the size of a baseball on you like super quick and you're, like oh, my gosh. How did I accidentally get this much product? That'S a mousse products that you have to pump are a foam in my book. This was a product that I picked up on a whim. I looked at the ingredients list. I wasn't terribly impressed. It doesn't have a very long ingredients list, but it is lovely. I find that this is a really great, affordable option if you find that the Giovanni foam is just too gritty for your hair, if you don't like the feeling of the Giovanni foam in your hair, this is lightweight enough and moisturizing enough that it's not going to Feel gritty on your hair, but it adds so much definition. It adds curl enhancement, it works great as a single styler and it adds volume, so I really really enjoy using this to top off a wash day. I use it as my last step after I plop right before I diffuse my hair. It adds just a little bit of hole to my hair and it adds volume. Also, I use this as a single styler when I want a very beachy loose bouncy shiny kind of wash day. As you guys know, I do have a super simple wash day routine. I will have linked up here. It is what I do when I am in a rush, and I can get my hair washed dried, diffused, everything in 30 minutes and it is glorious. I tend to use a foam as my styler in a super quick routine, and this has quickly become a really great foam option. These two products are products that I didn't think I'd be, including in a favorites video both of these products. The first few times I tried them, I was not terribly impressed with them. It actually took me playing around with them to figure out how best to use them, and now they have become some of my favorites. The allocate lemongrass leave-in is a really nice product and I know a lot of people that find this to be their perfect leave-in on wash day. For whatever reason for me, when I use this product on a wash day, it does not help my curls clump together. It does not give me big fat juicy curl claps, it doesn't necessarily cause flash drying, but it's just not my favorite leave-in. My hair doesn't slime together. When I put this in so I kind of put it in the back of my cabinet and forgot about it. Then, on a whim one day I decided to spray this on dry hands and smooth it over my hair and oh, it was an epic refresh brain. I do know that Alan Kane makes a Refresh spray. I haven't tried it yet, but this is literally one of my favorite ways to refresh I will literally just all I will do is I will spray a spritz of the leave-in on my hand. Ah, this stuff smells so good and I will smooth it over my hair, very gently. This just grabs any crazy wild frizz ease that are out of control and I will gently scrunch it in and I'm good to go. That is all I do to refresh. It smells amazing, it adds a little bit of shine and hydration to my hair and it calms down the frizz. What more could you want on a refresh, and I don't have to defuse afterwards with this this product? I heard so many people raving about this product that I picked it up, used it and was wildly disappointed. It did nothing for my hair, so I shoved it in the back of my cabinet, with full intentions of passing it on to a friend and like a bad friend, I forgot and months down the road. I kept hearing people talking about this product and I was like what am I doing wrong well turns out that this product is literally the only product that is impossible to be too heavy handed with. I decided that I was going to try and be too heavy-handed with this stuff, and so I put four palm falls in my hair. That'S right! Entire handfuls in my hair, trying to use half the bottle in one wash day kidding not that much but copious amounts of product, and I use this as my only styler, ah glorious, bouncy, lightweight shiny voluminous wash day. I really really loved this product as a single styler. It'S just it took me a while to figure out exactly how to use it, but once I used it correctly, absolutely lovely this product does contain glycerin and I do find that it works better for me when I use it in the ideal dewpoint range, but I Have definitely been grabbing it every time. I see that the dew point is in between 40 degrees, Fahrenheit and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, because it is a wonderful, lovely, single styler product for me now, if you've been hanging out with me over here on this channel for a while, you know that I live in Texas and it's a very dry hot part of the country - and that means we have excruciating ly disgustingly hard water. Yes, those are actual pictures of muffles, it is nasty and in order to deal with hard water buildup on my hair, I have absolutely fallen in love with the eye on hard water shampoo. This is a chelating shampoo that removes all hard water buildup from my hair and when use I absolutely love it, but it is extremely strong. I do find it to be very, very clarifying. So after I use this, I have been deep conditioning with the NSE mango hemp mask. Oh, my goodness. This is a fantastic combo. This is what I have been doing when I have been clarifying and deep conditioning lately love these two liyan hace Mingo hemp, restorative hair, mask deep conditioner. This mask contains really nice balance of protein and moisture. It has those silk amino acids in it that my hair absolutely loves. It contains hydrolyzed protein, but it also contains nourishing moisturizing alcohols. I just I love this when I do these two together, my hair is so bouncy and happy and healthy PS. If you want me to do a whole video on hard water build-up for hair, what it does to the hair, why you need to be even considering if you have hard water, how to figure out if you have hard water, where you live, leave a comment down Below and let me know - and I will absolutely make that video for you - if you think it would be helpful, alright next products, I'm just grabbing them at willy-nilly. At this point, this is another foam that I absolutely adore. I know this foam is $ 33, but the inner sense I create lift foam is so good. This is one of the grittiest most volumizing products I have ever tried. I love using this as a single styler. It contains great protein in here when my hair is leaning to being too moisturized. I will top off my wash day with this product. If I realize that I accidentally grabbed an entire protein free wash day, I will top off my wash day with this product and it helps keep my hair balanced. I love this. If you are looking for a foam with some protein in it, that adds lots of volume and definition and grit to your hair. Look no further. The inner sense I create lift Foam is epic, in fact, all of the inner sense products that I've tried. I have absolutely loved with a burning passion, but that fall that foam is in another league. Let'S talk about drugstore again, shall we in my last favorites video? I had a hard time talking about leave ins because I really only ever used one, but since then I have tried the not your mother's royal honey call hari desert melon, I'm not sure if I said that right, but is this one? It smells really really really yummy. It has a fairly simple ingredients list, there's no protein in here, but I find that it gives my hair the hydration, that it needs to kind of start calling together, but it's also feather-light. I really like that. It has a pump and I can control the amount of weave in in my hair. I haven't tried this as a refresh spray that, like I, have with the alakay, but this would probably work pretty well in that role. If you are looking for a leave-in at the drugstore, that is protein free, this has been one I have really been enjoying. Also, I get asked a lot about. Curly girl approved dry shampoos, and I have talked about this product quite a bit on my channel, but it is the my hair dance, volumizing dry, shampoo, 100 % curly girl approved. It does contain colloidal oatmeal. So if your scalp is prone to being super itchy, this is fantastic. Now, with most volumizing powders. I find that I don't like how they feel in my hair. They feel too stiff and too gritty and too gross I'm real picky about the amount of grit. In my hair, I want my hair to feel nice, but I also want it to have some structure to it. This gives me the right amount of grit to increase the volume in my hair without feeling too gross. I guess in my hair. It also does a fantastic job of soaking up oils. I find that when I use this product on day 2, I'm really able to stretch out my wash days, which can be absolutely lovely if you've been looking for a curly girl approved dry shampoo. This is a good one also. I know that it is $ 9.99 on Amazon and this looks like a very tiny little bottle, but I have had my bottle and I have used it very heavily for the past six months and I'm only down to there. You don't use much. This will last you an incredibly long period of time. It'S 100 % worth the $ 10. I have another favorite that I wish I had had for the entirety of my curly hair journey and it is my TSP measurers. I have the half teaspoon measure right here with me, because the 1 teaspoon measure is in my bathroom. I used it today, but this is a trick. I got from my friend Heather over on Instagram. Her name is curly coily red. You should absolutely go check her out, but she is so precise with her wash days that she started measuring out the amount of product that she was using often times some of these products that we love so very much do not come with a pump. In fact, they'll even be in a jar and sticking your hand into a jar over and over can feel a little gross, a little unsanitary plus you're not going to be able to grab the exact same amount every single time. No matter how hard you try, I mean mom watched a failed. Video is a perfect example of that I thought I had been grabbing the same amount of product that I normally grabbed when I was styling my hair in that video, I could have sworn that I had the same amount of product that I always used, but I Grabbed, like 10 times the amount I normally did using a teaspoon measure to precisely measure out the amount of stylish that you're using will help give you more consistency in your wash day routine. It'S fantastic. I really appreciate it. Also. I usually only use one teaspoon of gel in my wash day routine. I have decently long hair now and I have pretty high density hair. So there you go. If you need a frame of reference for about the amount of product that I use. I use one teaspoon, the very last favorite I'm going to tell you about today. Is my perfect haircare towel and my perfect haircare brush both are dirty and gross, because I literally use them every single time. I do my hair. I really love the perfect haircare towel because of this channel. I'Ve actually had the opportunity to try out a lot of products and I'm very grateful for that opportunity. But for the longest time I used my t-shirt, I kept trying towels that companies would send me and they would be $ 30 microfiber towels and honestly they actually make my hair look worse than my t-shirt. So I very kindly and politely told them that their towels were not for me. Then the perfect haircare reached out to me and said we'd love for you to try our product and I went guys. I'Ve tried a lot of towels and they they just I mean they're, not better than my t-shirt and they're like that's. Fine, just go ahead and try it just let us know, and I've been hooked ever since this towel is incredibly different than anything else. I'Ve tried because it is perfectly smooth, it feels like t-shirt material, but each individual fiber is an actual microfiber every thing. So this product has an incredible ability to soak up copious amounts of water. It is very, very thin. I can't even show you all how thin this is, but it is a very thin towel. It soaks up tons of water. It feels like a t-shirt, it's magical and the perfect haircare brush. You all literally see this in every video, because I use this to distribute my leave-in through my hair. I use it to distribute my peak conditioners. I use it to distribute my regular rinse out conditioners. I do finger detangle, my hair first, I'm not necessarily using this brush to detangle, with I'm just using it to make sure that every single hair strand is coated lovingly with conditioner, because it's those frizz ease those wild ones that have escaped their curl clumps. That need the most love and attention brushing my leaving in brushing my rinse out conditioner through my hair, make sure that consistently over time, every single hair strand on my head is getting nourished and moisturized. I find that these longer bristles are really bendy and flexible and yeah. It just has really transformed how I washed my hair also every time I wash my hair, I take this brush and I really run it along my roots while I'm upside down - and that is what gives me these crazy straight parts, and I can actually pick where I park my hair and everywhere I park. My hair is going to be a fairly straight part. Well now that I say that it's not gon na behave, but you get the idea. I get these crazy straight parts because I run my brush through my hair, while styling upside down, alright guys. That is it for this video. Thank you so so much if you made it till the very end. I know this was a long one, but if you've stuck around this long, I'm going to tell you exactly which products from my original favorites video are still. My favorites now keep in mind that this curly girl method is a hobby. For me, this is something that is incredibly fun to me. This is where I am spending my excess change, because I truly enjoy it. I personally and not super into fashion. I am NOT into makeup like I used to be, there are other things that you are absolutely welcome to love and be passionate about. Hair care is mine. You do not need to buy all of these products, but the main purpose of this channel is to give you good information so that you can be a conscious consumer and spend your dollars well. That is another reason I'm doing another favorites video, because I really do think that these products are are worth your money and I'm trying my very best to describe these products in detail to you so that you can make an informed decision when you purchase so there You go little disclaimer out of the way now drumroll, please, which products do I still love. I still love the mop top and gentle shampoo, the mop top daily conditioner. I still love the curls blueberry blitz leave-in, I'm gon na say it. It is absolutely holy grail status. I love it from my original favorites video. I still like the Giovanni tea tree triple treat shampoo, but but I am now feeling like that. Shampoo is slightly too clarifying for me to use as a low poo on a daily basis or on a regular wash day basis. I have now saved it for days that I really need to clarify so that product has changed a little bit in how I use it. I still deeply love the Giovanni smoothest sell conditioner. If you need a drugstore conditioner with good protein moisture balance, you need to check out that product. I still wildly adore the Giovanni le Naturals styling gel. It is fantastic. I will say that the Harries gel does have more hold than the Giovanni gel, but the Giovanni gel does not have the fragrance, but the hair is gel, has Jessie curl a loba conditioner is still heavenly. It is not as crazy slippery as some of the other conditioners that I own, but I do find that that is one of the most lightweight and deeply moisturizing conditioners that I have ever tried. If you want crazy slippery, I still love the an Aussie soothing, mint, conditioner, wonderful, wonderful conditioner, I believe they're out of stock, but they will be restocking soon. It is possible by the time that this video goes up. They will have restocked. I will absolutely have everything links down below if you're interested in checking out some of the things that I'm talking about, I still deeply loved the Jessie curl deep conditioning treatment. I have literally accidentally repurchased that product, because I was scared. I was running out when I had a backup already in the cabinet that is amazing, protein free, deep conditioner that I have leaned on so heavily in getting my hair. Finally, moisturized and healthy, the curl junkie repair me reconstructive, hair treatment. You'Ll already know that that's a favorite it was in my empties video. I adore that product. It is amazing, protein treatment that I don't have to go make in my kitchen. If I'm not feeling like making rice, water or gelatin treatment, I will grab the curl junkie. Repair me select that on my hair and it will pull my hair out of being over moisturized really really well. The trail X, cleansing, hair rinse is still one of my favorites. It is a very nourishing kind of low poo. I have actually used that low poo without following any kind of conditioner afterwards, oh just to see what it would do and my hair did so well. I wouldn't recommend going without conditioner on a regular basis, but I did it once for fun, because I knew the tre luxe hair cleansing. Rinse was so moisturizing and my hair was happy. It worked great. I still deep love the kinky curly curling custard and the uncle funky starter curly magic. Those are still two amazing curl enhancers that I enjoy topping off with a hard hold gel. They make my curl clump, stick together really nicely. They add curl enhancement. They don't have enough hold on their own for me as a single styler, but I still deeply love and use both of those products. All the time and the last one that I talked about in my favorites video - that I still love, is the biosilk rock art Julie. I love that gel. It'S going to be real hard for that to be replaced in my book. That gel does not make my hair feel gritty, but it has lots of hold and it does contain a little bit of protein. It is the most strong hold gel that contains a hydrolyzed protein that I have ever tried, alright guys. That is it for this video. You deserve a round of applause for making this far. I hope you have an absolutely fantastic day and I will talk to you later bye. You

Steffi Baker: I had a private consultation with Courtney last week and it was TREMENDOUSLY HELPFUL. She caught me making some mistakes and corrected me and gave me great personalized suggestions for products and styling. Highly recommend.

Brooke Streun: I love how excited you are to talk about products that you love! I’m adding some of these to my list to try! I’ve been off and on the CG train over the last several years and you seem to make it so simple. Your hair is looking so beautiful and shiny!

Lisandra Aguiar: Hi Courtney, I love your scientific approach to the curly girl method!! I live in a hard water area as well, and had to look into options other than products. Have you looked into hard water filters for your shower head? I'm seriously considering it :)

Jamie Sculley: Also yes to a hard water video! Thanks for commenting on which ones you like as single stylers. I prefer a simple routine so I'll check out the ones you mentioned. I'd definitely watch a video about that too!

JakkiR: Yes to the hard water video. I just received my ManeBio and thank you thank you for recommending it. I learned so much about my hair. Some of the crazy things it does was explained in my bio. Even though I thought I clarified my hair to send it in it still had residue at the roots and ends so my routine was not getting the hard water residue out of my hair. I learned that my hair is healthier than I thought I will chalk that up to 6 months of CGM and watching your vids. One suggestion on my bio is to pre poo with moisturizing oil to condition my more porous ends and soften my wiry grays . Do you have any suggestions on what a good pre poo oil would be for low/normal porosity low density medium width hair. FYI THat was all news to me except for the low density.

Paige Sword: The best thing I’ve ever found for hard water is a charcoal filter for each shower head you/faucet you have. They’re super easy to install. I found them on amazon. Just type in hard water filters for shower head

Madeleine H: I live in an area with incredibly soft water, like, some of the softest water in the world, and I honestly think this is hindering my curls. I feel like hard water can add a bit of volume to wavy hair that helps it keep its wave all the way to the root.

Felicia W: This is a great video! I have 4 bi-racial daughters and 3 of them have type 3 hair and my one lone ranger is a fine type 2. I struggle trying to find products that don't weight her hair down or make it look greasy. I'm going to try some of these. Thanks

jay hulrs: Hi Courtney, I really enjoy your videos and am learning a lot. Thanks for doing all the hard work and research on products. My favorite curling hansing foam is diva curl foam but I'm terrified to use it now from all the hair loss videos. Do you have a good dupe for it? Nothing else enhances my curls like that foam

supersurro: Sweet Courtney, thank you for your lovely informative and thorough videos. I appreciate you more than I could ever express. ❤️❤️

Nesmah Maguire: Hey Courtney. Would love to know if frizz is something that disappears in time with CGM or should be instant if you're doing product application and type correctly? Been doing it about 6 weeks now and I still have a bit of frizz. Particularly halo frizz! Ahhh help! Thanks

Gremlins x2: I have hard water & would love to see a video on that! Loved the video!

Lindsay Burns: Would you make a curly girl starter kit from your favorites?? This would be great!

Jesus Loves YOU: Hi Courtney! I'm so excited, I ordered a hair analysis, per your recommendation! I'm praying it will give me a solid foundation to help with my crazy hair! And thank you for another great video Stay blessed!

rev: just found your channel from IG and I’m learning so much! learning from someone who isn’t super curly made me feel seen

Briana Thompson: Thanks for this! Your hair is beautiful. We have very hard water but finally got a water softener. Hard water wrecks everything!

Connie Kirby: Absolutely love my Perfect Haircare towel and brush that I bought based on your recommendation!

Lezlie Jones: Formulate shampoo and conditioner was an absolute game changer for my hair! I can now make it to day 3 and 4 hair with soft moisturized curls! Previously, I could barely make it past day 2 hair. Thank you so much for introducing this product!

Julie: Yes to a hard water video ! Loved this updated favorites video thank you for making. I was curious to know which stylers you will reach for more often.

Christina Clos: I'm loving your "You say" shirt and your "Choose Happy" shirt so much!!!! I'm eagerly hoping you let us buy them soon

Irritated Librarian: Yes to the hard water video!!! Would be very appreciated!

Jessie Queniart: Hi Courtney! Love your videos, you're a life saver! I heard an ingredient that Formulate cannot remove from their formula is Mineral Oil, which is not CG approved. Is this true? Thoughts?

Laura Cordwin: I would be VERY interested in the hard water video!! I think it is the #1 reason my fine wavy hair gets weighed down. I worry that I use a clarifying shampoo way too much but my hair seems to love it. Can chelating ingredients be damaging if overused? I believe the ion hard shampoo is sulfate-free so technically curly girl approved?

Mary Lee Gaffin: Please share more info on overcoming hard water gunk! I've read that ACV rinse removes hard water, but I've also read that ACV rinse is more like a "touch up" between clarifying with a chelating shampoo. I was leaning toward trying Malibu C hard water wellness, but now I need to check out this one from Ion :)

Linda Meyermann: I love a lot of these products too! How about a video where you show the ideal products for different dew point ranges? This always confuses me and I think a video could be very helpful!

Samantha Gabbeart: Have you ever used an app to scan your hair products at the store to make sure it's curly girl approved? I know to get sulfate and silicone free, and alcohol free but I'm very new to this and want to make sure it's 100% CGA that I'm getting to begin my process! I didn't know if anyone had a recommended app they'd use! or if a video could be made with it, or if I just haven't found that video yet! Thank you everyone

Kelsey Tarin: Yes please do a hard water video! I live in a neighbor state that also has very hard water. I've been on my curl journey for about a year now and I think that may be a big part of my issues. Already have a chelating shampoo on my shopping list.

kawaii heather: Your 2018 hair looks like my hair now, just starting my curly hair journey. So glad I found your channel

xojuliettexo95: Totally agree about foam vs. mousse! Also the Kristin ess shine conditioner is my favorite cowash of all time! Try it out!

Kate Gibson: Would love to see a video on hard water! Also how to know what products to use for dew points!! I find it so confusing

engelneen: thank you for telling us things like if it contains glycerin because my hair hates glycerin! you always have great recommendations !!

Libby Camp: Yes please on the hard water video! Also, more info on different dew points and what you mean when you say ideal dew point would be SO helpful! Thank you!!

Finney Hamster: So, my hair is almost exactly like your hair. I have been using the Kristin Ess shampoo and conditioner you mentioned, but I’m unsure if it contains silicone. My hair looks like crap, however I think there are several things I’m doing wrong and it’s probably not the shampoo and conditioner. I agree with everything you said, I love it

Amanda Louder: YES PLEASE make a video about hard water. I’ve looked everywhere on the internet to figure out if I have hard water in my area and the results are so dubious.

yensid: I would be very interested in the hard water info. I could only find 2 shampoos on Ulta online that were clarifying that claimed to tackle chlorine & hard water. Neither was CG approved & both had mixed reviews. Where I live we have dry hot Summers/Falls & wet WinterSprings. Hair always looks great in the Winter, more of a struggle in the Summer.

Jasna Hill: Love all of you’re videos! You helped my hair so much! You are amazing!

Stefany Flores: I get the jumbo Batisse dry shampoo from Marshalls like every 3 months for $9.99, so I'm definitely gonna try the Hair Dance dry shampoo!!!!

Julie Bruce: Right before you said it… I was plopping my hair and I said I couldn’t live without this Perfect hair care towel Thanks for suggesting it in the first place

Fine Curls: A hard and soft water video is a great idea ! Even though soft water is better than hard.. too much of a good thing can be bad. I have lived with soft water for 15 years and my hair is always limp unless I use a super cleansing shampoo..so low poo is a no no for me.

arbez: Curious about the Innersense Foam. When you say it's gritty does that mean your curls feel crunchy or stiff when it dries? I've never used foams because I like my curls soft, bouncy, touchable.

GueyshArt: I actually live the Giovanni foam better than the gel. I find the gel makes my hair feel gritty. But combined I had pretty hair longer.

Ellen G: You are SOOOOOOOOOOO right!!! I had forgotten about those videos. Thanks for the links! Incredibly kind of you to respond so quickly like that! Luv to ya! Stay healthy!

Savanah O: I have loved a lot of your recommendations. I’m wondering if you have ever tried Ouidad climate control gel?

musigal: I really do like the amount of water that the perfect hair care towel absorbs, however my hair is so long that if I want to wrap up my hair in a straight way rather than a plopped way, I cannot do so without the ends of my hair sticking out of the towel. I wish they sold a wider/longer size to circumvent this problem. =(

Traci Setter: Have you ever tried the drugstore dirt cheap LA Looks Extreme Sport(blue in color, level 10 hold) gel??? I just got it and tried it for the first time a couple days ago. Has protein, doesnt weigh my hair down and I was overall pleasantly surprised by it for the price. I'm going to keep playing with it, but I hear a lot of girls rave about it.

hmt90a: I would love the hard water video! I'm soon to order Formulate, but would love to see more options for dealing hard water!

Emma Gavars: thanks for Harry's gel suggestion . bought Harry's gel from sainsburies other day it has great hold and makes hair soft. thank you courtney!x

Susan Massey: Yes! Hard water video PLEEEAAASSSEEE! I purchased the Malibu C after seeing it on your Amazon page and just used it a few days ago. Best hair day ever! I had no idea!

***Amy LeoGoddess***: Sounds like U would LOVE Wetline gel!!! It has so much hold but it clumps my curls so much!!! Omg!!! U gotta try it!!! It's a huge tub for like $3 & u can buy it at the Dollar Store, Sally's, or any type of store!!! Plz try it!!!

LittleMissSuki1: Yes to the hard water video!! Love all the info in this vid :) you're the best!

denise eldred: Courtney, I have a question for you... My hair is still stringy after 5 months of doing the CGM. I have fine, less dense (menopause sucks!), medium porosity, type 2A-2B with some tight stringy ropes of hair. I haven't colored my hair but once many years ago, haven't heat styled for decades and haven't till 5 months ago used anything but shampoo and cinditioner. I've tried different products, applications, proteins, moisture, wet and dry styling. How can I get my hair less stringy and curl/wave clumps to form???

Jeannine G: I would be very interested in a hard water video!!! Thank you so much for your videos. You are awesome!

Andrea Baker: Yes to the hard water build up video!

Cindy Holman: Totally agree with formulate!! Love it!!

KatTheBrat: Would love to know more about hard water. I feel like my curls have suffered since moving back to where I live now vs where I used to live

Marci Gitler: I LOVE my Formulate! Thanks for that video. My only problem is I have not found the right gel to use with it yet.

Jennifer Dyan: THANK YOU!!! The curl keeper does absolutely nothing for my hair!!! I used it and nothing. I looove empties videos especially for curly hair can you do more please and thank you!! Also, just curious do you use glycerin in humid weather? I try to steer clear of glycerin products though sometimes it feels impossible. I live in SW Arkansas so I understand Texas weather and the never ending humidity. Got any updated glycerin free products? Thanks for another awesome video! I'm rewatching alot of your videos! :) Lazy day off on youtube with my curly girls.

Valerie Linares: I know this video is a little bit old. But I have a question: I am a wavy/curly girl who lives in a very dry climate. We are pretty much dry all year round with rain coming around only few times a year. I also don't really use heat tools, or dye my hair, or get damaging treatments like perms. So, if my hair is getting any kind of heat damage, it's just from the sun and our dry climate. What product would you recommend to me to protect my hair from the harsh sun? Thanks!

Holly Clark: Is there a video where you talk about how you use your inner sense foam? I want to love it as much as you and I think I need some application tips. Ive used it a couple times and haven’t loved it yet. Also, the teaspoon tip is gold!

LuckyDucky917: I really love this channel - I'm in the UK so lots of these products aren't readily available to me but I struggle to find a UK YouTuber who puts out such informed content, haha.

Shauna Ferguson: Yeeees! I love recoil too! I may have to try Harry's gel.as well! I combo recoil with tea tree special gel and it's great!

Lisa D.: My hair is wavy AND curly AND color treated (by professional salon stylist). Can I use the products recommended for the Curly Girl Method?

musicmama: Yes hard water! I love using the ion shampoo/conditioner, but would like to know of other products.

Rachel Brooks: I’m going to try that dry shampoo

Jesus Loves YOU: Courtney can you please do a video on camping hair? I'm going in 2 weeks! ( but will be going again in the Fall.) I usually wear a baseball cap because I'm afraid of ticks. I'm looking for alternative ways to wear my hair, protect it, and not pull it back tightly since I now have thinning from doing just that! Likely I will not be washing my hair for the week (I will not be getting my hair wet in the lake, I only wade.) If you could, I'd be grateful!! Thank you

Derrick Jennifer Watkins: Thanks Courtney, always a great to see a new video!

Mrs M: Innersense has reformulated and it’s not clean anymore. They’ve kept the price and decreased quality drastically. Giovanni Eco chic has more organic ingredients and it’s half price. Raw Curls are amazing products too :)

Suzanne Slager: I’m overwhelmed watching this video. I need someone to wash and style my hair for me and tell me what I need.

Cauldron and Craft: Thr way you felt about Curl Keeper is the way I feel about AG Recoil! I've tried it a few times and it's just not working for me!

Andie: Does anyone know the difference between the curl custard vs the glue gel from cantu?

Shantell Hall: Hard water here. Love the Ion and a good deep conditioner combination. Definitely do a hard water video!

Nesurnen: Also, we can have very humid climate and although hair loves aloe it doesn’t work well in high humidity. Make it look wet. Any suggestions?

Bill Wambler: Could you do a current daily routine and products?

Kate Rose: Dammit why can't they get the Not Your Mother's range to the UK?! It sounds sooo good. And we really don't have many foam options here, at all.

Stacy Meisel: So many great products. How do you know which ones to use when? Newbie here, and so overwhelmed!

Jesus is God: Can I use the CURLS blueberry bliss leave in conditioner, then the the innersense I Create Lift Volumizing Foam and then use the Harry’s Sculpting gel on top? Should I use all these products before I towel dry and then diffuse/air dry?

Gena Palacios: I would also love a hard water video!!!

Suzi Wonder: What app do you use to get a dew point forecast? The ones I’ve found only show the current dew point.

Carmen Bailey: Thanks for the video! How can you tell whether your hair needs more protein?

Caroline Martinez: Does the segbeauty diffuser fit on the xtava blow dryer??

Adrienne Holcomb: In this video, you allude to products that give hold without cast. I'd love to know what those are. Thanks!

Amanda Wilson: I live in the same general area as you and i use that exact same hard water shampoo!

Katie Whelan: Please do the hard water video!! Getting the shampoo!

klivesay83: Yes, do the hard water Video

myluckyyear: I am new to embracing my waves/curls. Wet styling confuses the heck out of me. Product application when soaking wet, then plopping, doesn't all the product get absorbed into the plopping towel/tshirt along with the excess water? At what % dry do you start to diffuse? Do you have a video you can refer me to that explains wet styling? Thanks!

Stephanie Ramsey: How does the Ion hard water shampoo compare to the Malibu hard water shampoo/conditioner/masks? We have hard water.. Well water with a high iron count even after a water softener.. My hair stylist has us use the Malibu hair treatments. She has never mentioned Ion Hard water shampoo before.. I'm curious as to the comparison. Which you would prefer, etc..

Runs With Toast: Do you find the Harry’s gel to be sticky at all after you put it in your hair? (sticky to the touch)

Babiche Persoon: Please do a video on hard water! I live in an area with really hard water, I can't afford a whole filter system. Please do a video on how to deal with that!

Gtina Allen: What would you suggest for my hair. Finally have managed to get it curly again HOWEVER it is not touchable. UGH! lots of curls but no clump curls and its just like a tangle mess if I want to touch it. Does that make sense? I love that your hair holds its curls but is soft at the same time. I need a simple routine, simple few products

Lina Maher: finally someone who has the same curl pattern as me

Runs With Toast: Yes! Please, do a hard water video; our hard water is the worst.

Erin Louise5: How much does the formulate stuff cost? I can't spend too much.

Ana G: Nice video I just bought recoil cream really like it , I just can’t figure out which gel to use it with ‍♀️. Have you use curl smith products ?

Sarah villar: I would really love to see a vid where you use the Harry’s gel Bc I’m intrigued and I can’t find a curly hair vid with it. I’d love to see it used

Diane Scibilia: How did you get the segbeauty diffuser onto the Dyson hair dryer. I bought one and can’t figure it out. Did you fit it onto one of the attachments?

Alyssa V: i’m pretty sure that the cantu hair glue is for glueing wigs on or creating a super slick bun/ponytail

Naomi Pena-Henao: Does the Harry Sculpting Gel work for hot and humid climates? I live in Florida and my hair gets so easily frizzy even when I use Giovanni L.A. gel.

Sarah villar: Anyone else always wonder what products are in her hair in the opening clip?

Alison Thorpe: she’s so sweet, i love her so much

Emma: Totally loved this video! But, I would really appreciate a video explaining dew points! It seriously makes my head spin. Would you ever consider doing that?
