Bonnie and Joel Hoellein

PO Box 6451 Logan UT 84341

It has been almost a year since i have committed to not straightening my hair and truly embracing my natural curls. It'S probably been about four months since i've adopted some new techniques, a new haircut and fully embraced the curls. Even though i'm not an expert, you guys give me a lot of questions, and so i wanted to give like an updated routine for my hair to help you guys out. It'S taken a lot of research, on my end, to figure out what works for my hair and, as i do into products specifically one. I learned that i was using way too heavy of products in my hair, which was eliminating the volume, and another thing is that curlsmith is a very big name in the curly hair world, so i am elated that they are sponsoring. Today'S video, i'm showing you their new shine line so we're gon na start at the very beginning and work our way through my routine and showing you their new line. So, first up, starting with the shampoo, i need something that is sensitive for my scalp, and this is exactly it. It is dermalogically tested it's suitable for the most sensitive of scalps, and this whole line is fragrance, free, it's safe for color treated hair. It'S also designed for all different hair textures, so it works for my curly hair and it also works for everyone else in my household that is using it joel's straight hair, olivia's wavy hair, so it is designed for all of our hair, which is very convenient. Moving on to the shine conditioner, when i condition my hair, i start on the ends of my hair and i work my way up, but i really don't focus it on the roots of my hair, because i've noticed since i haven't been putting conditioner at the roots. I have noticed more volume in my hair. This conditioner feels super rich and moisturizing in the hair, but it does not weigh it down and it's a combo that i've never found in a conditioner. I like to make sure that, once i have my hair coated in the conditioner, i use my fingers as a comb and i make sure that it's all the way detangled once my hair is all the way detangled. I will squish the conditioner into my hair. Only on the ends, i always clip my hair off of my back, and i finish my shower so that you can rinse all the conditioner off of your back and stuff and when i get out of the shower, i don't towel dry. I don't dry my hair at all. I just leave it as wet as possible, the entire time that i'm styling my hair. I always put a leave-in conditioner in my hair before i start styling it and i will apply it to the ends and stay mostly mid. Shaft to ends of hair: this is the shine cream. It is a lightweight leave-in conditioner. It makes your hair super soft, but it does not weigh it down. It enhances and helps clumping your curls, which is what i think is really difficult to do. That'S what i've had a hard time doing and you can see like in my bangs right here - that's like a good little clump. It also adds shine and preps the hair for your other styling products, because my hair is so fine. I have to be really careful of how much i apply, so i'm only adding a tiny bit after i do the leave-in conditioner, then i'm ready to put styling products in i make sure my hair is very wet. So i have a spray bottle ready or you know the faucet at your sink and i make sure the hair is nice and wet still and i go in with a gel i'm using the shine gel. It'S a super strong hold, so i use just a little bit. This is a thick gel texture. It helps with frizz control, it also locks in water and hydration. It is a strong hold, so it's going to create a crunchy cast, which is totally fine. We'Re going to scrunch the cast out later, i like to use a raking motion with my fingers, because what i've learned as i've practiced is that's. What'S helping the beginning stages of forming your hair, curl clumps, once i feel like the gel is distributed through my hair, i'm going to section my hair into different sections and the first section since my hair is so thin. I just go about halfway up my head and what i like to do is comb my hair up off of my scalp and that's what's going to help with volume, and then i flatten my hair with my hands that is what's taking out a lot of the Frizz and helping them to form into clumps and, like i said before, you want to make sure that the hair is very wet at this point and once i get to the top of the hair, i pull it all forward, making sure that i'm lifting it up Off of the scalp smoothing it out forming the clumps crunching it up, scrunching it up and then through trial and error. I have learned that you will come out with like lines of curls and you'll be able to see those, and so i like to use my fingers and just at the roots kind of comb through just at the roots, so that you don't have like lines through Your hair that you've sectioned once i've defined the curls all throughout my hair. Then i will go in with a little bit of the shine jelly. This is a lighter weight hold. It does also help control the frizz it's lightweight, but i like to add just a little bit on the top just to help form a good cast. I used to let my hair air dry all the way and since i started diffusing it that has created a ton more volume, so i like to take the diffuser and get my hair all the way dry using the diffuser okay, once you're done diffusing. This is what you're left with you are left with this crispy casty, curls and so you'll go in and you'll scrunch out the crunch. For me, this is my most favorite part. It'S the most satisfying you're, going to see a lot of volume after you go through and scrunch your hair, and once i scrunch the ends, i like to use my fingertips and shake out the roots. That way, you don't have any definition of partings you get rid of any cast if it's up at the root, and by doing this you just create a lot of volume and then this is the hairstyle that you are left with for me, and this varies for Each person, but my hairstyle will last me a good like four or five days. Maybe if you guys have any questions, i would love to answer them. So leave your questions in the comments. My hair definitely feels soft and it has this like healthy shine to it. So if you are interested in any of the products, i will have the full collection listed below in the description for you guys. I want to thank carl smith again for sponsoring this video. It is a really neat thing for me to be able to have a brand that i am already using and incorporating into my curly hair routine to come and want to sponsor a video. So this is really exciting. If you learned something and you enjoyed the video, please give it a thumbs up, and i will see you all in my next video bye, guys, okay, more hair hold on, i see your face and your lips me look pretty don't move. You should like smile. Just a little bit like or something because you look angry, you need to hold still well. This is good stuff, the curls, and so i wanted to, and is that sorry, which is very convenient? It feels, but i'm sorry scrunch and squish the roots. Sorry i always apply. I started that i hate myself, sorry, joel um, it's not going to be easy editing through this. I will have the i will have. I will have the full list before they came along. I wanna. I don't know what i'm saying a diffuser diffuser. What are some phrases that the curly girls use julia you're, a natural at this directing i love it. Can you see the curls? Am i blind sorry, i'm gon na? No, i think, that's actually really pretty you're killing boy, i'm just a curly boy. He loves a curly girl. I have this strange craving for curly fries. I can't tell i need to get rid of this tripod. I'M just always angry too. Forget it. Sorry, sorry, joel! Let me just start over

Arielle Weitzman: I thought I knew all of the techniques there are to know, but wow that sectioning and smoothing portion was news to me! It's clear to see how that's an integral step to getting the defined clumps of curls. Amazing! You mentioned at the end that this may last you 3-4 days. How do you sleep with it at night and fix it in the morning? Thanks Bonnie! <3

Helen Trim: What is your routine on day 2? I always struggle to keep my curls looking so good the next day. Thanx ❤️

Sarah Putrus: I began embracing my curly hair at the beginning of last year and it makes me so excited that you're embracing yours too!
