What'S good everybody, it's your main girl mel here and we are back at it again. If you know you know, my hair would only be parted in the middle for one of maybe a couple different reasons, but the main reason would be because today's video is once again a battle of the brands. Yes, at last, we are bringing back another episode to the series on this channel called battle of the brands where we compare and review, not one but two different brands at the same time on my head. Hence this weird uneven middle part, i'm sorry in advance. If that is bothering you, but a straight line would bother me so compromise. Okay, so welcome get comfortable subscribe and how rude of me not to introduce myself. I am humane girl, mel and i am in fact a professional hair stylist. So my advices come off of my knowledge of working with so many every different texture of hair and from using so many different products throughout this channel. Now the products i will be reviewing today, i thought, would be very interesting. Considering the times for a little bit of context, it is fall here and fall is just a whirlwind of confused weather. It doesn't know if it wants to be hot or cold. It'S both dry and wet and it can make it a really tough time when choosing how to style your hair. So i kept that in mind, as i browse the aisles of walmart to pick up some drugstore products that are drugstore, but, interestingly enough salon inspired. So you know i felt inspired to try inspired they're so uninspired. These products, we've got john frieda's frizzy's dream curls, and we also have mark anthony's strictly curls. Both of these lines claim to be humidity shield and frizz easing my standards are high, but so are my hopes and hopefully, at the end of this first impressions review, i will have some affordable product options for you and so on that note, let's get to it, Shall we do not be concerned for my hairs all this color that you see is just hair makeup. I did a halloween look, and i know this stuff will wash right out because it's curl smith's hair makeup water soluble very rinsable. So, let's take a look at our shampoos, shall we so i don't know, but i think i'm going to go in with the john frieda products first, because if you know me i'm a purple parent, it does have a very fragranced smell, but it is very nice. Very sweet looking at that consistency, it is a pearlescent kind of shampoo and it is also oh lathering very well. It had a very sudsy but also creamy lather. If you know what i mean, it was very soapy, but still felt silky as i was working it through my hair and it rinsed really easily now onto the conditioner, a really nice thick conditioner. That'S what i like to see and to feel it was very nice and creamy. Overall, it is a very nice and silky kind of conditioner, which i decided to first apply and then clip my hair up and let the conditioner sit for a couple minutes before i detangled just so. I could try out the other side and in the meantime, i tried out the mark anthony products. Now the mark, anthony strickly curls, have this like sweet lemon candy scent, and when you take a look at that lather, it is lathering quite nice. Even though this formula is sulfate free, that being said, i do feel like it gave me a pretty nice clean. It was also easy to rinse, but my hair overall really needed some conditioner, and these strictly curls conditioner was not what i expected. This conditioner was much more of a thinner type of lotion which at first glance worried me because i thought maybe it wouldn't give enough slip. But once i let that sit in my hair the same amount of time as i let the john free decide both conditioners detangled, my hair, quite well, as you can see here. Sometimes it's good to let the conditioner sit in your hair a little bit to soften your strands before you go in right away with detangling and overall, it seems so far that these products did their job. There'S my hair ball and we'll just toss that to the side. Thank you, since i washed first with john frieda, i'm going to style first with john frieda, and i'm only doing this because i'm a purple freak and i like the purple so first we're going to apply the prep product, we're going to be following the prep style. Finish method, as i always do - and this is very important, especially with unfavorable weather conditions. If you want the curls to last, you can't just put one product in and hope for the best. It'S just not it's just not it so. First, we prep and i have the frizzy's dream curls. This is a daily styling spray. I don't know why it says that because i would never style my hair daily with this um, i style when i do and then i leave my hair for five to seven business days. So this is a type of leave-in conditioner. So i'm going to shake this up, shake it up, says to shake. Well, i don't know how long it's been on the shelf so and she's a spray we'll first spray. It on my hand to see how she just squirts there is none, it's water! This is basically water, okay, so we're just gon na spray. This liberally over my hair - oh god, yeah. Okay, i messed up there. First start off with your microfiber towel around you and hope that that doesn't stain. Obviously, my hairs are very wet, as i am styling. This i want to start off with my hairs, nice and saturated with water, because now would be the time to get the curls clumping. So usually, when i'm styling my hair, for definition, i will use a denman brush or a styling brush to define my curls. However, i want to see this happen kind of all on its own and i will be following the techniques that i shared in my maximum volume, styling routine, so anyways. I digress back to styling. Now that my hair is prepped it's time to move on to the styling products where i will be defining and then holding those curls. However, what's what's was alarming to me, but also intriguing to me: is the john rita frizzy's dream? Curls collection does not have a curl cream, so i don't know what that's gon na mean. For me, my hair is very high, porosity, she's blonde, okay, obviously not for a while, but she's been blonded. My curls become very thirsty. They do appreciate a cream. So, as i was at the store, i picked up a styling cream from the frizzy's collection. However, this is part of the straight fixation line, and this is a really good teachable moment to tell you that, even though something says straight product that doesn't mean anything, i will be applying some of this to my ends and if my ends do look crazy, then Maybe it will be my fault, but the ingredients in here tell me that this is going to be moisturizing. It'S going to help to seal. I'Ve got the third ingredient as dimethicone, i'm not mad at that when there is a lot of humidity and when i just applied a product that has a lot of glycerin in the second ingredient. I am looking for something that is going to give me a little extra sealing, especially on my ends that will just fuzz in that humidity: okay, she's called hail hair for a reason, i'm not going to go off topic again, but heyo is the formula and prep Style finish is the method when styling for a reason - okay, i do have another full video on this - that i do encourage you to see if you are confused, but for now let's get back to this review, shall we so, let's just swatch it, let's just swatch It maybe apply it to a little bit of my hair to see what this will do, because if you have very thirsty and dependent hair, you need a lotion, a cream, and this is that lotion that i'm, that i'm talking about so okay, okay, these kind of Smell like a cologne to me, i kind of like it, but it can be a little strong, a little irritating. I only took a touch and from here now that i've prepped and i have moisturized my hair, i'm going to define my curls with my fingers and then hold that shape together. It worked, i worked it and now let's hold it, i have their frizzy's dream. Curls curl reviver mousse, this mousse is for defined soft and moisturized curls that defy frizz every single day. That'S a pretty hefty claim infused with abyssinian oil. I hope i said that correctly. Don'T come for me. It'S in all of the dream curls product, except for the styling cream, so i'm assuming this is like their miracle ingredient that they're working off of let's check out this foam. This is how much i'm going to use for half of my head. When i take this foam, it feels very light very fluffy, and what i like to do when i'm testing a mousse is. I do like to start massaging out some of that foam, so i can see what the product is going to melt down into and i feel like this one doesn't feel super greasy, but i do feel that light film, which would be giving me that humidity protection, So i'm going to apply this very gently. I want to apply a little bit more and on that note, all the styling with the john frieda products is now complete, it's time to style the marc anthony side. Where is this clip? Oh here we are. Yes, add some water and to prep my curls. The first product i have up is the marc anthony, strictly curls curl, defining lotion. It'S a lotion notice. I do not have these strictly curls leave-in conditioner. I couldn't get my hands on it. However, this lotion will also be a great leave-in conditioner, because this is the thinnest product that i have and when you're applying your products, you always want to go in the order of thinnest to thickest kind of like how you would apply your skincare products and the Strictly curls lotion is thinner, it's a more watery substance. It was more clear and the second ingredient in here would be glycerin right after water, which means this is a more hydrating product makes sense. So actually, before we dive in, let's read what this product is. All about this is salon perfected by the professionals at marc, anthony, hi, mark anthony professionals. I hope you're watching this. I just want to let you know: um hi, silk protein protein, exciting and vitamin e infused formula encourages curls. It protects from humidity and eliminates frizz to create maximum definition. So what you want to do with this is apply to the palm of your hands. I'M going to take just a little bit just a little dollop there, and it is a nice thin kind of lotion. Personally, i really enjoy the smell of all the marc anthony strictly curls products. They remind me of the hot towels at the mandarin. They have like this fresh lemony scent, and it's pretty nostalgic for me is that what they were going for, because you know that's part of the reason why companies add fragrance to their products. It'S to give you this nostalgic kind of experience, and this is taking me back so now, the first product, my prep product, the lotion is in i'm gon na follow up with the curl envy curl cream, it's the curl envy curl cream. So when i look at the curl envy, curl cream glycerin is further down on the list, which is what i want to see when there is a lot of humidity or lack of humidity. When the weather is extremes, you want to keep those humectants at bay. What you do want to see higher up on your ingredient list is ingredients like silicones and butters and oils, because these are going to help to create that emollient and occlusive layer right. I think i think we're getting somewhere. Are you catching my drifts, so the curl cream does come in a smaller bottle than the curl lotion. The lotion is 245 milliliters, and these strictly curls is 177.. So do with that, what you will you can see that consistency? It is more like a cream. I'M going to work this through my now more damp curls. I do like the way this is gliding through my hair. I think i use too much not that i use too much of the product, but i use more of this than the john frieda, so i'm removing some and now i want to hold those clumps. Let'S see what this extra hold mousse will do. For me, this is yet again a silk protein and vitamin e infused formula to repel humidity, locking in soft touchable, frizz, free curls, and just what i like to not see in my ingredient list with the products at the end of my routine. There'S no glycerin in this mousse no glycerin, but hydrolyzed silk is at the end of the ingredient list, so this is probably very light on the proteins. Let'S see how she does most of these mousses that dispense out of an aerosol. Can they kind of come out like a marshmallow and then slowly? They fade they melt. When i start to melt this into my fingers, i definitely feel that shield um and it does feel a little bit heavier than the john frieda frizz ease. But let's see how it feels in the hair wow a little bit goes a long way. I'M going to wipe this hand off, i'm not going to use it low and slow when you're, trying out new products to start and then build your way up, see how it feels this is tick. It'S a tick mousse. So far, all of the marc anthony products. Besides the conditioner, all of them feel thicker and heavier than the john frieda products, but it's anybody's game right now. Here'S a hot tip for if you ever feel, like you put too much product in your hair, not that i feel like i did, but i do want nice volume. I want to see how the hair is going to bounce and compared to the john frieda side. Mark anthony's feeling heavier. I literally feel it heavier on my head, so i'm going to take my damp towel and i'm just going to very gently scrunch not rub not do anything crazy. I just wanted to get off any excess product, because i was so shocked by that mousse. It was definitely thicker and heavier it's time to diffuse, and then i will be back to finish the and i'm back. The hairs are now dry and it's time to finish, it's the finish to the prep style finish and it's the oh to the hair, the occlusive agent, but before i apply these serums and oils, let's take a look at the cast and the definition before we scrunch Out the crunch is the hair crunchy, so the john frieda dream, curls curl reviver mousse did leave my hair with very touchable like a little bit crunchy, but once i start to squish and squeeze it is softening out on its own. It'S feeling good and over on the mark, anthony side. I would say it has the same kind of amount of crunch, but i definitely feel more of those lotions and that cream it is heavier. It'S definitely heavier, but yet softer as i scrunch out the cast. But honestly, right now, it's not a big difference at all, very, very comparable before we get a really good look, let's seal it all in i'm, going to be applying now. This one is not a first impressions. This one is tried and true this used to be my og and on a rainy day, there's not much better than this. This is the frizzy's extra strength extra fort forte. This is the six effects serum, so silk protein and added control. It eliminates frizz humidity protection, heat protection, smooths hydrates tames for coarse to very coarse hair. So yes, this is a thick serum, see how glossy that is. So i'm only going to take one pump of this just glazing it over my hair scrunching, my hair with it, making sure that i'm putting that layer of protection over my curls, but not disturbing them, and i'm going to use the marc, anthony, nourishing argan oil of Morocco, as my finishing serum, which is actually in a spray oil format, so we'll spray this on my hands. I'Ve never tried this but very light compared to the rest of the routine, which was heavier so i'm going to do a couple spritzes. It smells like soap that is dispensed at like a mall and an airport like that typical pink soap. You know the pink soap that comes that dispenses from that's what i'm smelling. I mean it smells clean, but not what i expected at all. Okay, take a very close look here. This side is the mark anthony and this side was the john frieda. It'S time it's time for you to vote what you think looks best right now in the comment section, and i think it's time i get a second opinion and some second hands in here sister amanda caesar it's time for you to judge they're all voting right now. First, what side looks better? This side has more hold, but this side has more juicier juicier, more clumped, yeah, okay, so feel them now, and let me know what feels better. This one feels like air, so this side looks juicier more hydrated, yeah, more clumps. So may look better to some people, but this side would look not as clumped more lightweight and feels lightweight. How will these look in the upcoming days and again in the rain, stay tuned to find out and stay tuned to hear my final thoughts and reviews of all the products that i had used closed door? For me? Oh yeah yeah. It'S raining! I'M here on day. Two it's morning so good morning i have my coffee to hopefully help keep me warm. I'M bundled up to put this hair to the test. My bonnet is literally still on. So here we are. This was one night's sleep, so this would be day two for me. So day two would be the day after i've slept on it once and take off my bonnet i'll sit you here, look you can see the floor's wet. I can hear the rain on the window pane. It'S kind of spooky out here i'll sit out here for a while doing my work. It'S a good test for these hairs. No, i will not actually be stepping under the rain, who does that, if you are actually walking through wet rain cover it up buttercup? Well, hello: we meet again more fabulous this time we are back with a update and to give some final thoughts in conclusion, because she has lived - and i mean - let's be honest - she's still she's still living, but since we are being honest, this is exactly what i Fear when doing these side-by-side product battles, i always do fear that i will be noticeably lopsided. There'S a noticeable difference going on in here. So, let's talk about it, shall we so before i announce a winner of this product battle, let's take it back to the shower and reevaluate our wash. The shampoo is a curl defining shampoo. It is a sulfate free shampoo. It does have those miracle ingredients which would be silk protein and vitamin e, which they claim helps to smooth down the cuticle and eliminate frizz with each wash anytime. You see a shampoo that looks more pearlescent like this and not a clear base. Shampoo, it's typically more hydrating, so i will say that, although this left my hair feeling clean, it did also help to condition the hair, so it wouldn't be too too stripping. If you were using this because you like it, i would definitely make sure that you do have a clarifying shampoo, that you use every so often to make sure that you are getting a full restart on your hair, because if you are only relying on a sulfate Free moisturizing shampoo, like so you are eventually going to get build up. That all being said. I did like my first time and for the price of it for the size of the bottle that you get. You know 380 milliliters, i'm not mad, that i spent my dollars on it, but then we have the conditioner and the conditioner was so weird to me or really what i mean is it's not really what i expected out of a conditioner for curls we usually for Thicker dryer very tangly hair. We need a little extra extra now. This, i would say, did feel pretty lightweight and although it doesn't stay on the bottle based on some of the ingredients that i'm seeing this is a color safe, conditioner as well one of the best color preserving ingredients is ammo dimethicone. It does contain some silicones, which do happen to be some of the most conditioning and softening ingredients. So if you are following the curly girl method, do be aware of that. On top of that again, there's shea butter and vitamin e and the conditioner is protein free. So the hydrolyzed silk is only in the shampoo. That'S all i'll say about that, and i guess the last thing i'll say about that is. Would i recommend it again? It wasn't my like. Wasn'T my my favorite um, but it's uh. It'S not bad. Let'S get into the stylers, so let's start with our prep product, i use the strictly curls curl defining lotion. It was not a leave-in conditioner again. The first ingredients are water and glycerin, so this is definitely a hydrator and humectant-rich formula and very lightweight. I actually really liked how this applied to my hair. I feel like it left my hair feeling, nice and silky and smooth i like the smell of it. I like the size of it. It has hydrolyzed silk which does contain protein. It is coconut oil free. However, this wouldn't be considered if you're, following strict curly girl rules, this wouldn't be considered curly girl approved because it does contain one silicone, but it's a silicone that you really do not need to worry about. Let me explain why the one silicone that's in here is cyclo tetra siloxane, which is a cyclic silicone. Now, silicones in general get demonized, even though there are so many different types of silicones that each have unique properties and benefits, which is why we cannot place them all in the same bucket. The benefit of using this type of silicone in this ingredient is simply to add that slip as you are applying it. It gives it that really nice and silky feel, but you don't have to worry about these type of silicones, building up on your hair because they are volatile and they simply evaporate at room temperature. So i would definitely recommend this if you are looking for a nice lightweight water-based type of curly, hair and lotion that you could use on its own or if you need a little extra extra like i tend to need, you can go ahead and apply the curl Cream, so the curl cream right off the bat. I don't like that. It came in a much smaller bottle. However, this formula is thicker. It was just as easy to spread through the hair. I'M glad that it gave me some hydration and some chunk as i was styling my curls, and this was good to layer over top of the lotion because it does also have dimethicone. It also has shea butter avocado oil soybean oil. It also has a cyclic silicone in here, which we can see when we compare it to the other side. I didn't really have a curl cream to style, my hair with, and so my curls are more separated. This one definitely gave a chunkier softer. Look to the hair, however, the issue is it didn't hold down the frizz, which is what i was expecting out of these humidity defense products, so this was a meh in my books. As for the moose, now let me tell you she was thick. A little bit went a very long way, but also - maybe not. I found it to be very heavy very thick, and that's why i didn't want to apply too much. It does have hydrolyzed silk in it. I really like proteins, especially at the end of the routine, because they are film forming ingredients which will also help to kind of lock everything in and there's also aloe leaf juice in here, which aloe vera juice can help to add some hold to a product. It is itself like a gel, but maybe i needed more to get the extra hold simply put. This did not deliver the extra hold it didn't deliver enough hold. I would say for what i needed in humidity. If you are in humidity, you need a little extra hold. It just didn't do that for me, unfortunately, but fortunately it is a glycerin-free formula. I would like to try this in the winter, though, when the air is dryer and there's no humidity, because that's when i really want some glycerin free products, so i will try this again in future and, lastly, we had our finishing product. This spray was very liquidy. It definitely didn't make my hair feel greasy. It didn't even feel greasy on my hands, so i do like it for like a lightweight option. It'S nice as a spray. I like that it has collagen amino acids which acts as a strengthening kind of protein and just for good measure. I'M gon na use it again right now because it says use any time for intense hydration, softness and protection. So, let's see how it feels after a few days whoa can we show a before and after there do you see the difference. I feel like that. Actually just helped the look of my hair right now. That was a miracle and it added some fragrance to my hair which to me again it smells like that dispensed hand, soap at a mall or the airport, but it smells clean and feels good and actually looks so much better. All of a sudden i like it, but definitely wasn't the most sealing, as you can tell, my hair did not hold up as as expected, but you know what did mr john frieda, john john, if you're out there call me let's talk about this hair day from The wash bring it back now, y'all one hop now y'all. What do i like most about this? The packaging spoke to me again, i'm a purple freak. That being said, this shampoo may not be for everybody, it lathered and cleaned wonderfully, because it does have sodium laureth sulfate laureth, laura the sulfate loreth sulfate is much more gentle than laurel sulfate, but do keep in mind that this is a sulfated shampoo. I don't care - and there is also dimethicone in this shampoo, which means, as your hair is cleaning to counteract the dryness that could potentially occur from the sulfates and other cleansing ingredients. It is also depositing dimethicone into the more damaged areas of your hair to create that sealing coating, which is helping to protect your hair again after a few washes of using this at least once a month. You do want to go in with a clarifying shampoo. That is going to reset everything to remove silicones, because the point of this is to help to add that smoothing and that conditioning with the silicone as it is cleansing so out of both of these drugstore options, they're not really for the scalp. They are more for the hair for the hair, they did the job. As for the conditioner, which is really for the hair, this is really what we want to focus on. I did like the consistency of this one. I liked how it was thick - and i like this - is where i'm getting so controversial every time i mention it, but dimethicone, which is a silicone, is the third ingredient and look before we go any further. Silicones in these products are obviously not a bad thing. They did the job, they eased the frizz. They are also safe for color treated hair, which i like that it states this on the bottle. Now, besides the silicone, there's, really nothing else. That'S really special about this formula. There'S no proteins in here, so it's not going to add any strengthening. It will just be a conditioning conditioner and if you have high porosity damaged hair, i could recommend this to help to seal the cuticle. Just make sure that you do get proteins in your routine. In the styling products and moving on to those styling products, this thing, so something that's really important to note about this product is there is a curl enhancing ingredient in here magnesium sulfates, which in other terms, is epsom salts salts, draw water from the hair and in A very strange way, drier curls, do tend to hold curl more. They may be a little bit crispier. They may be a little bit tighter because they may be a little bit thirstier, but they also become a little bit more enhanced. So this ingredient is very beneficial for hair. That does have a very loose soft curl pattern. That does want a little extra fortification and a little extra spiral, and since this product is also extremely lightweight, i would not say that it would weigh down the hair. It kept my hair, very weightless, and i would recommend it if you're looking for a curl, enhancing boosting kind of leave-on spray product to style your hair with and i did enjoy it, except for the fact that it just felt like water spraying onto my hair. It didn't really give me slip, i mean it worked, but in a very lightweight way, let's take a look at our styling cream that we used. I broke the rules here. I went outside of the dream curls box and i went into the straight fixation because, knowing my hair, i needed a little extra extra and take a look. Okay, let this be known that, just because a product isn't advertised for curly hair doesn't mean it's not gon na work, because this still did its job, it kept the style, smooth and moisturized and silky. You know virtually frizz free, and specifically, i really like that. This product has heat protecting ingredients; it also has proteins to help strengthen the hair. So if you're looking for maybe a product that can do both that you can use while you're wearing your hair curly or if you want to straighten out your hair, i like this. Now, let's move on to the hold: did she ever hold up? Yes to this mousse, i found it to be very lightweight: there's no really heavy ingredients in here, but there's still holes in my hair and my hair held up and it is also glycerin free. So i will continue to use this. I will try this again, especially as the weather gets colder and then. Lastly, i think i already expressed how i feel about this. I have been using this for years. It may be repackaged now, because i've had this for so long. If you are in high humidity, there is nothing better than this. I mean it's thick. It could be heavy, so be careful, but with the ingredients that are in here, you've got mineral oil, which is one of the most sealing ingredients to prevent water loss from the hair and with that hydrolyzed silk. This always leaves my hair feeling. So nice and silky highly recommend and with that everyone's preferences in terms of styling and the results that they look for in their curls is going to be different. I have to be honest. My hair on both sides is still so soft after a few days, but the general consensus of this styling. When i asked you what side you preferred, the vote was the john frieda side and when we take a look at these results, there is still a lot of definition. The curls have fluffed out and not that i have a like a problem with this side. I do appreciate that the curls are chunkier. They are hydrated, however, because of that they did not hold their form, they lost their shape and there has developed some frizz noticeably more after i had sat outside. So what's my issue, my issue would be the false advertisement. Humidity shield is plastered on the bottle, but it did not hold up to the hype and, at the end of the day, frizz ease eased more of the frizz and i definitely feel like i could rely on this routine on another rainy day. So i will keep that in mind. Mark anthony, you tried maybe for another season, but all in all those are my thoughts and my opinions and the information that i can share with you about these products and, as always, i will make sure to link all the products that i used in the description Box below so you can check them out there if you have some product recommendations or some product reviews that you would like to see me do up in a battle, make sure to comment that below and if you like this video and you found it helpful, make Sure to give us a like, and if you are new - and this was your first video you saw on this channel - i hope you stick around and subscribe for more. This has been your main girl well and i am out peace. So this is a story all about how my life got flipped up upside down. Oh this, my [ __ ], all girls gon na, be like this. This is my fault fit. Can we back up for a fall, fit? Okay? Okay! Now i need help down. No, no, it is 9 10 p.m. You need to know this about me. As of lately, i only film at night. It'S when i feel best. I just want to say that i hope you're all happy, because i was just rudely informed by my mother that i smell like the outside the wet outdoors. You know the smell god, damn it. I may have scared off the kids, but you know you you, the one that's still watching both amanda and and you because you made it all the way to the blue piece. You know you, you know me, you matter to me the most because you're the one that sticks around for me, no matter who or what i am am i any girl now whoa there. She is judging me e curl huh. It'S fine amanda, i'm going to run out of space on there, whoa wow, i'm forgetting that it is evening here and half of my family is asleep hold on there's a hair on my lip that was ticklish, but the fact that i look like this hi. Oh hi yeah. It'S a lot of highs. It'S a lot of time, hi these two shampoos and conditioners that doesn't rhyme, stop it right. There short and sweet. It'S not short sweet, it's probably like 35 minutes, but it's a review.

Andrea Michelle: Virtual school may be be killing me, but my hair is going to be freaking FABULOUS while I fail exams

Fátima Chapa: THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!! In my country these are basically the only brands with products on a budget (every other brand is seriously overpriced :c) THANK YOUU

youparejo: You're the only reviewer I trust cause you go into details about the ingredients AND you show the results 3 days after! Also, love the editing style and how you present products

Isamar: The John Frieda side was my favorite even though it wasn't as juicy initially. I knew it would last longer thus looking better throughout the week

Katie York: Hey Mell! I would love to see a "product olympics" type video, where you demonstrate & discuss some of your favorite products in specific categories: mousse, gel, curl cream, prep, shampoo, oils, serums, etc. I am always trying to find a new product to make my curls bouncier or lighter or whatever.

Regina Euzebio: Note to self: never again watch a Mel video on a day you know you need to go to Wal-Mart.

Kristy: hey mell, this was amazing. could you try Not Your Mother’s Curl Talk line? It’s a really popular drugstore line, and i’m curious to know your thoughts, since you’re my curl guru!

Micah Torres: I've had John Frieda products for a while but felt like they wouldn't be as good because I hadn't seen them in your videos- this helps so much!

ShaNeill Gines: I've been wanting to try John frieda for a while now and this just confirmed they will be the next products I get! Your curls are poppin! Great video as always! ❤️

Bonnie Emile: Mell, you always crack me up. ☺️ I love the bloopers! You are the only hair influencer that talks with facts, information and knowledge. Why is there silicones in the shampoo? You know and you tells us. You educate and inform us. We appreciate you! Thank you!

Suzanne: John Frieda dream curls does have a curl defining cream, at least in the Netherlands. I have the cream and i love it

Sara Forutan: “The bigger the hair the harder they stare!” #teammell

Chèlle: Girl I just love you. You’re so descriptive with the products you use & I use your tips every wash day! It’s also so nice to see affordable products being used ❤️

Mary Linares: I live in Florida and have color damaged hair, so I’m always looking to tame my frizz! I love the John Frida results. Have you used Carol’s Daughter products? I found their Monoi Ora shampoo and conditioner on super clearance at Ulta, so I tried it. Omg. Best moisture my hair has ever had! Styled with AG Hair products, and my hairs were beautifully balanced! Thanks for sharing all your knowledge to bring my 2b color damaged hair back to 3a-3b curlies!!

Cute Grim: I just want to say, thank you so much for what you do. My hair finally has texture to it and looks soooo much better once I learned how to wash, style, and set my hair all thanks to you! <3

Aussie_deplorable: Thanks so much for doing this. Lots of people can't afford high-end hair care. This stuff is as cheap as chips in my country ❤️

Jade V: John frieda always works for me, I use their daily styling spray on my 3rd day hair and it revives my curls, I also use their dream curls defining cream and that is amazing for my hair :) in the UK they also have a styling foam. It isnt a mousse it is actually foam and its soooo light weight, makes my hair feel really soft

Ellen G: Love when you review more drugstore/ affordable products❤

Sandra _: I use the Marc Anthony products recently and the styling foam wasn’t my favorite either but the lotion and curl cream are good :)

Kathryn: Love you Mell. You are so cheery - just what we need during this pandemic. I'd love to see a review of Curlsmith, including the HydroFlexi vs. other products in that line, or another battle with a different brand.

Mina: Interestingly, the Marc Anthony Mousse has been my holy grail for a while now. I always come back to it when I venture out to try out different products. The Curl Cream was my one-and-done product for a while. I also have a very different curl pattern than you!

Nasima Aarah Begum: Agree with Amanda on first impressions. JF side has more definition but the other side looks softer, which is surprising given how heavy the products were.

Xiara U: I love you, Mell! Have you thought about reviewing ethically sourced products with biodegradable/recyclable packaging?

Fay: Ahhh love the vid Mell! I actually wanted to switch up my routine and decided to try the John Frieda curl creme (which is available in the UK, not sure about Canada) and the JF mousse in July and honestly my hair has been looking amazing! I love the big volume look for myself and can achieve it pretty well, especially cause the products are pretty lightweight. But my hair is dyed blonde and high porosity and not sure if the mousse has protein in it because I wanted a mousse with a lil protein.

Ruth Gale: I love your channel because you let me live my curly girl life without worrying about this and that. Thank you melthbusters!

LadyShiva16: I could only afford the Marc Anthony Strictly Curls at first and while I enjoy the curl cream and lotion used in combination with other brand stylers, I ALSO found that the "humidity shield" claims are lies! And I thought I was using them wrong somehow? Good to know I'm not nutz. Lol I will def try the John Frieda!

Delilah Martinez: I swear you read my mind girl , I been seeing the marc Anthony and I've been curious on how it would work and now I have my answer. your channel has changed my curl game !!!! Thanks for all the helpful advice. Love you Mell !!!!!

Diana Bukatova: Love thiiiis!! Would you also review Cake, Aussie, Dippity-do and/or Pantene's regular or gold series curl products? ❤️

Diana Khader: Love your videos Mell!! I've been using Frizz Ease Mousse for years...have not found anything that works better on my curls...which have gone kind of flat since letting my gray come in Thank you for all the valuable information and cute humor...Love it!

Kati Benzer: Years ago, before I ever heard of the curly girl method, I used the Marc Anthony line that Mell used today. St the time, I loved the curl enhancing spray. I tried the shampoo and conditioner again recently and it did not agree with my hair. It totally left it frizzy. Thanks for the side by side comparison.

Jennifer Puentes: Honestly. I have loved watching your videos. I had straightened my hair for years and it felt like so much work to get back to my curls but your videos make the process fun. From trying different products, techniques, it makes it so much fun and my ringlets are finally back! Love love love your channel.

anjanet iannazzo: I just had to write to you and say you are literally the best... you have helped me so much with my curls already and I only started Binge watching your videos this week...I have 4 daughters, 3 out of the four with curly hair and now I know how to treat their hair because of you!!! Thank you so much!!!!❤️❤️❤️

Vee G: John Frieda was the first products I used when I started with my natural hair.... And I still find that its a great product. Also, John Frieda does have a curling cream which is the best as well as their deep conditioner which does wonders. Thanks Mel for this video. Finally something that we have locally in our country.

Angelina H: I just got all the John Frieda stuff you showed. Hopefully it works for my hair. My hair is such a hot mess I always keep it in a bun so I don’t have to deal. Crossing my fingers... thank you!!!

Asianya: You and Amanda are truly heaven-sent with your channel. No more wasting money on products that don’t have all the science terms Mell says so elegantly the first time around #TGIT

lauriesnj: I’m glad I watched this video because I love the John Frieda mousse but having a hard time finding it lately, so it gave me the confidence to try the Marc Anthony curl mousse which works pretty well. A little bit of it goes a long way!

Helene Jordan: I love the Marc Anthony strictly curl line it’s my go to and as I saw how much you used of the John frida all I thought was “oh no she’s going to used too much of the Marc Anthony” lol it’s so good

Iris Benitho: I’ve always used one step of these brands and wondered why it never worked for my hair. Idk when but the Marc Anthony products mixes with my body smell, it makes me nauseous. But the John freida brand really changed my perspective on it.

Renae Lamb: I love a good product battle. My friend uses Mark Anthony, I’m going to get her to try John Frieda. On another note, I know it’s harder but I’d love to see an Australian brand product battle.

Jenni Kalyn: I'm still slowly working my way through all of your videos, Mell and I just came across this one today. I've been using some of the Marc Anthony curl products and my hair has never been more thirsty and straw like feeling. Maybe it's because I'm not using the whole line, maybe it's because my tresses are just that damaged.... Has anyone else had this problem with Marc Anthony?

Maria Hersch: Mel, have you ever reviewed Controlled Chaos? I first saw them years ago on Shark Tank and ordered right away. That was the first time I had ever heard of a curl cream, and it really helped inspire me to learn how to embrace my natural hair texture. But after all these years, I just don't know if I love it! So many options out there now, too! Anyway, I'd love to know your thoughts!

Meredith Roebuck: I love these type of videos! Gives me a great comparison of what I’m looking for in products!!!

106andie: Hi Mell! I was wondering if you would try Tresemme, I know they have a heat protectant spray that is also a leave in and they have a great mousse! ❤️

Kimberly Foster: Thanks for yet again another informative video!! The way you break down ingredients and the pros/cons of them is so beneficial. For specific ingredients, you mentioned aloe vera as an ingredient in one of these products and how it's film forming. I'm interested in a scientific video of this ingredient like the video you created about coconut oil. For some reason, aloe vera does not agree with my hair. I recently purchased the moisture memory reactivator and the in-shower style fixer from CurlSmith, both have aloe vera, and once my hair is dry, my hair feels horrible. I've noticed this with other products containing aloe vera higher up in the ingredient list. Would Scientify Mell please help explain this phenomenon?

Jenn Leah: Love the dream curls spray/curl enhancer. Also they have a dream curls leave in conditioner (spray, but more conditioning), and I use them together cuz the true conditioner spray has protein. HATED Marc Anthony strictly curls line. Hate the smell. Hate the feel.

Bianca Colarusso: "My standards are high but so are my hopes" should be a tinder bio ahahah

Pretty Livie’s Beauty: Also you should come out with your own brand with ingredients you actually like and have it follow the prep style finish method. !!! That way we have your products and a video that tells us what to do!!!!

Jenny Rose: Hi Mell! Ooh I've been bingewatching product reviews. But I hold your opinion in way higher regard than most. After using baking soda and dandruff shampoo to remove temporary color I used Hello Hydration ( a cheap drugstore conditioner) and was shocked at the nice results. Like tons of slip. Anybody else like this one??

Sunshine: I’ve been on the curly girl method for 3 years, i think it’s time for me to introduce silicones to my routine lol thanks for explaining so well

Sushma Yadav: Hi Mell, first of all, i want to say i have been watching your videos for a while now and you are simply exceptional. I have learnt a bit about how to manage my curly hair (Thanks to you!). But, unfortunately I can't just get a right hairstyle for myself even after trying a lot of stylists. I just have not found what I could repeatedly do and be happy with my hair style. I would be extremely obliged and happy, if you could advise something to me. I would send pics of my hair, if there is a way to do that. Please help! Your big fan!!

Michelle: Thanks for the great review videos! I live in Colorado where it's VERY dry and need help with products that will keep my curls juicy and not dry out into a birds nest after 2 days.

Eylem Elena Rodriguez: First of all thank you for your honest opinion and your reviews in general. I've learned so much about curls with you that's amazing.I'd love to see your thoughts about the Rizos Curls products. Any chance to make a video about it? greez from switzerland

Pon Deck: Hahaha, I've always thought those hot-towels smell a lot like 'the outside!' Wooo, I remember that John Frieda serum! Whatever happened to the gel they used to make - remember the clear one with dissolving purple beads in it that came in a pump bottle? I used to love that gel! Thanks, Mell, for this detailed veedeeo, loved it & love you, Beauty! xoxo ➰➰

Nouf: She’s literally a genius. I love watching her videos. I wanna go shopping now.

Stephanie S.: When you haven’t watched yet but you still thumbs up because you know it will be

Kaity Miller: I like the John Frieda side the best! It looks more defined, but still style volume, and also really soft and lightweight! Now I want to try all the products! I have tried the mousse and I love it! Thanks for sharing!❤ P.S. I always watch to the end because you're hilarious!❤

What3v34: BEEN waiting for this!I use john frieda products and where i live these two are one of the few products that are available easily on a budget.Always looking forward to texture tuesday!!Also in my opinion john frieda is decent, its not great but its not bad either‍♀️

Lauren - UnalomeWellnessCo: Here in South Africa we do have the JF curl defining cream I’m yet to try it, the mousse is absolutely incredible I could never go back to gels

Amy Tozser: OMG!! The MA Lotion was my ABSOLUTE favorite and my hairs loved it! But! I then began the CGM and saw it wasn't approved & quit it. Thank you so much for the info on the particular silicone- I'm literally leaving now to get some. Like an old friend coming back, I could CRY!

Mallory Widmark: I think the John Frieda side looks best and sounds like it feels best! I’d rather that airy feel over any product that would weigh down my hair and give me a headache

Margo Steeden: Great video, as always! I'd love Amanda to do a side-by-side review of some products - preferably those we can get in the UK too though! :)

GD97: I sometimes use John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight Fixation Styling Creme on my 3b hair and so far it’s the only product that didn’t weight down my hair and has given frizz free curls. It is really amazing but I’m currently trying Shea Moisture products to see what works for me.

Lilah: when I was a child mum and I tried so much John Frieda to deal with my hair and the memories hurt. I know it was probably my application but I will never forgive John Frieda for existing in that period of my life lol

Nevada Bigbey: I would love to see a battle of the brands with l-u-s vs quidad and or deva curl !!!! It would help me to decide which products to try next !!! Love you your channel

Kyra Cooper: I love your videos and look forward to them each week! I was just wondering if you guys have considered making a video on zero waste curly hair products/routines?

Cassandra Hitt: OMG thank you so very much for doing this review on these products as well as doing a blog on how to defuse your hair properly. Just recently got a spiral perm and the shampoo and conditioner along with the leave in cream products I was using does not compare to the Curls products. Curls products are so light weight and made my curls look amazing. Gave my hair lots of hydration and did really good on controlling the frizz (Live in Florida). Question is it best to rotate every so often between hair products brands so you hair does not get use to the same products?

Abigail Sterns: Love watching your texture Tuesday videos. I would love to see you try out Not Your Mother's Curl Talk line!

KittyLoves8265: after the wash and condition, when styling, i used Marc Anthony leave-in conditioner. left my hair slippery and hydrated. after i put in the mousse, it felt like it took away all the softness and slip, made it feel like there was only water in it. was so dissapointed. :( idk why that happened. by the way, did your shirt get ruined?

Kathleen Snell: I’ve been using the Marc Anthony curl cream for a while. I’m happy to see your review of it.

Amy Potter: I use marc anthony styling products and there great! (I haven’t used there shampoo or conditioner yet) I used John Frieda shampoo and conditioner for months and I found that it was really drying and my sister (who also has really curly hair) and I both agreed that it was really drying to the scalp and hair.

Erin Colleen Gordon: Thank you for this review!!! My hair does NOT hold up in humidity, and you have convinced me to try John Frieda Frizz Ease! Does anyone make this their standard routine? Or, only use it for rainy forecasts?

saron kassa: Manes by Mell you have taught me so much. I have 3b long hair and I am so happy you popped up on my youtube page. Thank you (and your seester) for all these great videos! Oh and John Frieda won this hair product battle to me atleast. Subscribed!

Dannie Phillips: I loved this video because of all the explaining about ingredients. I would love a video explaining what ingredients do, what to look for, and what to avoid.

K whatever: I live in Australia and we normally don't have many of the products you have, but we do have a Dream Curls Styling Creme so I think they do have one, maybe your store just didn't sell it. Loved the video, I appreciate how fair you always are and how you explain everything in such detail.

Melina Sica: Yaaaasss! I will go more for the lightweight side also for the volume mentioned in the previous video :D fan of the john frieda side. #curlyhairdontcare thank you for your video’s. It made me appreciate and embrace my beautiful curls

Shelby: I have the Marc Anthony curl defining lotion I have been wanting to try out John Frieda and also the miracle curls line by Aussie. Would love a review on that as well!

Rebecca Celeste Mendoza: I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS I am learning so much about curly hair... my curls have never been so good and well behaved!!

Jessica Sopolis: They look beautiful! But I actually love both sides! Another great video, Mel!

Flamarea: I love all the educational nuggets you share with us. Thank you!

Dinora Rivera: Hi Mell great reviews thank you for this information. Wondering what clarifying shampoos u recommend for drier scalp and hair. Thanks girl your videos and personality are my fave

Kassandra A: Texture Tuesday! Favorite day of the week !! Love you Mel❤️

Leza Hardy: Sooo, I was searching for a video on how to coil my curly hair and your video popped up. I watched and I loved it. Soooo, tonight you popped up again, happy dayz! You are a fantastic teacher! Can’t tell you how happy I am to have found you! . You said you are a professional and I’m wondering what state are you in? I am a new subbie as of now. Thank you so much for your awesome information and help.

Amy Tozser: Great video as usual! Something you said got me questioning life. You mentioned to apply products thinnest to thickest. I'm using a curl cream, mousse, two gels, and more to the point, Uncle Funky's Daughter Curl Stimulator, which I am now unsure of where there would fit in as far as thickness. In which order would you go in after a cream? I had been doing the stimulator, gel, mousse then the thicker gel. Opinions? Your channel is like my Bible lol! Thank you

Kim Stefanelli: I only have wavy hair but I LOVE watching your videos solely because your hair is sooo pretty.

Whit: Just went and bought the whole line of The JF everything was on sale and I had a coupon I paid $34 thanks for the info I’m excited

RS: Really awesome product battle&review❤️ and it would be amazing if you do winter routine and I am not sure if you have this product in your country but would you think about doing a review of TIGI Bed Head? Also, you Mell and your seester, you both are really stunning and I am grateful for your curly hair tips

Darla Porter: Those are my drugstore favorite brands!! Thanks for reviewing side by side!! Your gorgeous curly girl!

Izzy: YES YOU’RE THE JOHN FREDA STUFF WE LOVE I ACTUALLY USE THIS YAAAAAAY (I live in England so the stuff I normally buy is different!) Love you mell! ♥️♥️♥️

Jenni B.: Idea : Take your top/favorite and create a Frankin routine and see if they will work together. You could do this afternoon completing a number of Battle of the Brands.

Just Me: After using this Marc Anthony range for a year... my hair became dry and unmanageable. So I only use it on special occasions now.

Aspen: I have the Marc Anthony strictly curls deep conditioner. I would have loved it you reviewed it because I would like to know if it’s good for my hair. That aside, I loved the video and it was quite informational

Julie Walsh: Thanks so much! I’ve used some of the products from both lines back in the states, but now living the island life in the Caribbean, so I’m thinking I need some of these protective ingredients for the constant humidity.

Oonagh72: Not gonna lie both sides are beautiful even after sitting in the rain. I love that John Frieda mousse. I am a 4C loc’d natural. I use it when I curl my locs. My hair has hold and it is soft. Bronner Bros is my second favorite mousse. Also I have been having a frizz problem with my son’s twists and o think you helped solve the problem!

Sara Takashima: I love the John frieda side, but I can't use most of their products due to allergic reactions to methylchloroisotiazolinone. I don't understand why they insist on using them anyway. A bottle doesn't last for ages... Love your comparison-videos. Thank you again for all the effort you put up with for our sake.

Sara André: I actually use the jonh frieda styling spray to revive my curls during the week, and I really like it. Also people notice (and compliment) the smell :)

Joy Spellmann: For years I only used the Marc Anthony Curlz products, especially loved the consistency of that curl lotion, but at some point Walmart no longer carried it and it became very difficult to find so I had to get over it. The Purple brand I’ve tried and it was just too heavy for me however, since then I’ve learned from you that I may not have been applying appropriately, AND I now I brush style. I think I’ll give both another, fair try. Lol.

Natalie Lowe: First time commenting but regular viewer. I have experienced a lot of hair thinning at the crown lately and decided to try the JF mousse last week in the hope it would give my hair more volume at the root and help disguise my thinned hair. . It worked amazingly well and held up to the UK's autumn weather . Will be switching out my gel for this mousse. Fab video as always x

Zarah Bocaletti: I loved John Freida but it became harder to get in my country. Then with CGM, I've been scared to try it again. I think I'll give it a go now! Well, once I finish watching, of course

Jennifer Ford: I love the Marc Anthony products. I use the curl defining lotion every time I style my hair.

A: Love how you explain the ingredients even tho there are videos about it, so much better to understand
