Hey guys, my name is juliana palencia, aka jujube and in today's video i'm gon na be talking about working out and natural hair because, as i learned, the two don't really go together like i thought it would. So. I'M gon na give you some tips on how to keep your natural curly hair, healthy and kind of how to create a hair routine and i'd like to say thanks so much to nexus for sponsoring this video before i started working out, i was just so naive On the struggles of working out with natural hair, it's just not the same like my hair routine, isn't the same. My styles, don't last the same, like i go into the gym. Looking one way, i leave out the gym looking a completely different way, so i'm gon na give you guys some of my tips on how to keep your natural hair, healthy and pop. So i'm gon na tell you about some products that help with my wash days, especially while working out because they keep my curls moisturized and defined post workout. I definitely recommend you to check out nexus curl defined collection. This is nexus. First collection made exclusively for curly hair and has some amazing ingredients like marula oil, castor oil and shea butter and a really awesome product that they have it's the ultra 8 pre wash treatment. I get in the shower, and i put this on my hair before washing my hair. You guys know i like the condition wash condition method, so this is kind of like that. So this has eight benefits in one use. It helps to hydrate my hair. It helps to soften my hair. It helps to nourish my hair and scalp, and this is all before starting my hair routine. One thing, that's really important to me is moisture and protein, and what i really really love about this collection is their protein infusion blend. It has amino acids in it that are found two to six times more in curly hair, so this collection is made specifically with curly hair in mind. It'S rich in these amino acids that are found in curly hair. This nexus, curl defined collection, is super accessible and it's affordable like to check it out, make sure you click the link in the description box below and now it's on to my tips for maintaining your sanity while working out with natural hair. So my number one tip - and i cannot recommend this enough, even though i don't really do it, but i'll explain why i don't do it is protective styles. So protective styles are great because the gym you're sweating - i don't know about your gym, but also, i feel like the humidity - is like 99 in the gym, because even if i'm not sweating hard you'll, my hair will still get poofy and frizzy. For some reason. It'S like the humidity in the gym, i'm like my hair's soaking up other people's sweat like, but when you have a protective styling, you don't have to worry about that. You don't have to wash your hairs. Often you don't have to worry about your hair, getting frizzy. So i highly recommend protective styles for anyone, even if you're not working out so my second tip - and this is really hard for me to say because i feel like i am a huge, huge fan of wash and go's as you guys know. But honestly they don't do the best. When i'm working out. I feel like styles, where my hair is clumped together like finger coils or shingling right now. My hair is shingled, so i have tons of curl definition yeah. I don't have like stretched out length, but my curls are clumped together, and this is so much easier when i'm working out versus a wash and go when i do a wash and go if they're not already super clumped together going into the gym they're just going To keep getting frizzier and frizzier same with braid outs and twist outs. For me, those stretch out my hair and it does not help to like clump my curls together. It like helps to get volume and separate my curls. Those are like the worst styles to do when you're working out. If you can't do protective styles, i highly recommend like those type of styles. So the third thing, which i'm sure many of you guys are already doing, is to really really focus on the moisture. When you do your hair, definitely deep conditioning once a week, if you can use steam or heated cap, i definitely recommend that too also. One thing i have to switch to is refreshing. My hair in between washes. Sometimes i would go a whole week to two weeks in between washing my hair and i would not refresh it at all, because my hair would maintain its moisture and hydration. But when i'm working out my hair will get so dry and dry. Hair equals brittle hair and brittle hair equals broken hair. So you really want to make sure that you're on top of the moisture and not just on washes, but also in between this tip, is definitely the hairstyle so which hairstyles work best for working out with natural hair. Definitely updos things like curly, puffs and buns have been my favorite a curly puff. I just take a scarf and wrap it around my hair. It takes like 10 seconds and it is really really cute. You can do so many different things to get your hair up and away, but those of course, are going to be the best hairstyles to do when you're working out and my sixth tip is wash more often. So. This is something that you definitely don't have to do. I noticed that, since i started working out, i can't really do like the two week wash and go's like i used to because it just doesn't last as long so like. I said these aren't things that you have to do, but they're just tips in order to make it work for working out, there's so many positive reasons to work out. So i just wanted to give you guys these tips, just in case you've been having some struggles with working out with your hair. Also, let me know any tips you have or any tips that you relate to. I want us to all thrive out here: healthy bodies, healthy hair, healthy mindset, healthy community - and i also like to say thanks so much to nexus for sponsoring this video and thank you guys so much for watching this video. I really appreciate it and i hope you guys have a great day, and i will talk to you soon in the next video bye, guys.

Alexis Sokarijo: These were really good points! I also take my hair down from a bun immediately after working out, so that it doesn't reset in the shape of my pineapple (hopefully I make sense) lol

jxssi_: This video came in perfect timing because I've been wanting to start working out but didn't want to dry out my hair from the salt inside of my sweat.

Mia Trice: This came at the perfect time, I’ve been wanting to start working out but maintaining my natural hair is so much harder when i work out bc I sweat SO much

Failedpuberty6x: Oof, yes ma'm! Ever since I started working out, I went from washing my hair every 2-1 week, to washing my hair every 4-5 days. Refreshing every 2 days (with water and a lightweight spray conditioner that I can't use to detangle and didn't want to throw away bc it cost). Deep conditioning 1x weekly. Just girl. Yes. But I have noticed that it takes far less time to do my hair now that I wash it more often. I went from 2 hours to style my hair to about 20 minutes due to experience, learning my hair, and washing more often. Also, less shedding.

Nice C.: I just started working out so this is a huge help

Dominique reece: Thank you! Theres nt enough content on this. I workout 5 days a week and the sweat is ridiculous and my hair-always a mess. Thank you sis will definitely b incorporating these tips

tashposhohgosh: Thank you so much for making this video bc I find that I'm doing my hair a lot more frequently since I've started working out and I really didn't think that I would have too but like you said the humidity in the gym is horrible and my shingle set is not Happy

lae R.: this video rly is just on time cus i was just thinking to myself yesterday that my hair rly does hold me back from working out like i want to, i simply sweat too much when i go on runs. it’s nice to see someone being transparent about how it isn’t always easy to maintain the curls through the workout sweat

Vanessa Rivera: This came right on time as I just started working out consistently, and my hair is a mess

Carly: Since i've gotten into working out i now have to wash my hair weekly :( but i try to counteract the dryness by doing hot oil treatments every week as well. it does make me sad that i can barely stretch my wash and go's 3-4 days now before it just looks too frizzy

Aray Brown: Thank you! Since it’s warmer, hotter outside my goal is to work out, even if it’s just jogging in the backyard and doing squats

CurlyNella1011: I redo my hair mid week. I workout 6 days a week and I just simply wear my curls out because I don’t sweat too much even though I work out hard. I just know I’m not going pass 3 to 4 days with my hair and expect it to get older day by day.

Marie Smith: How do you combat being sore? Sorry, I know this is about hair while working out, but I want to start working out at least 3 days a week, but the soreness from day 1 always has me so stiff after. But I was told the best time to work out is when you’re sore, because it takes 2-3 days for your muscles to respond to the exercise you did, and in order to grow the muscle to have to “tear” them so they grow back thicker. So working out while those muscles are already sore gives you the best results.

Britt_Christina: I really needed this i just took my braids out and i go to the gym 3 times a week and i need to know how to do it for the gym
