Hey pros so in today's video we're going to talk a little bit about trimming your hair and i'm going to show you guys how to do a professional trim. So we're going to take her from her before do this after and if you look at those ends, they look nice and clean. So that's exactly what we're going to talk about today now keep in mind. If you're new to this channel go ahead and hit the subscribe button and thumbs up before you go alright, so she has already been shampooed and conditioned using the hair repair and restore shampoo and conditioner. Now we are getting her prepared for her trim. Now, when you are doing a trim, whether it be you doing it yourself, which you guys know, i'm not a whole fan of that, but okay or a professional, is doing it. It is always best to if you're, not a pro at this, to go ahead and section off the head now, if you guys saw me do something just now, i literally ran my finger down the side of her head because i needed to find where her parietal Ridge is the parietal ridge. Also is a good layout for your sectioning when it comes on to trimming and then, of course, there is a part from ear to ear right behind the ear or you can go to the middle of the ear. It'S really by choice. So when we're doing our trim, we are going to have what we call a traveling guide. That guide is basically going to follow us through the cut, and you also want to make sure that you have your cutting comb. There is a difference between a cutting comb and a styling comb, and you also want to make sure you have a good pair of shears for those of you that love to use those nice gray plastic handle shears that you find at the beauty supply for 2.99. That is a no. We are going to use professional shears because we are professional and professional shears can be sharpened. Professional shears can be adjusted in in tension. It'S very different from those little cheapy cheapy. I'M gon na cut some paper shears that are at the store. Okay, all right, so while we are getting into our trim, i want you guys to take note as to how i am sectioning the hair. As i'm trimming, the head is not the size of a paper, the shape of a paper, it's not flat. It is like the size or the i keep saying the size, the shape of an egg or an orange. So when you are doing your trim, you follow that shape and, just like you would peel an orange in wedges, you trim the hair in wedges. So if you notice, my parts are following wedges as if her head was an actual orange. That is the easiest way for me to break it down, so that we are all on the same page. Also, if you are not comfortable with taking larger sections, definitely take smaller sections until you learn a level of control where you can see your cutting, and i always recommend going back and checking your cut, i always say: cut once check twice and cut again. If need be, but you definitely want to make sure that you are checking your cut as you go through, so that you don't have to do a lot of work going forward now, while we are doing this part of the trim, i'm going to go ahead and Talk a little bit about trim schedule, so i hope you guys have your pen and paper ready or if you had gotten a copy of our professional hair care recipe book. This information is in that book as well. The trim schedule for natural hair, no matter if your low porosity or high porosity, is going to follow the financial calendar. So there are four financial quarters. In a year as a natural, you are going to follow those four quarters and get your trim at least once every three to four months. Now, how effective is this going to be? If you follow this schedule, very effective split ends are not your friend. I know you guys want to hold on to the length of the little straggly hairs but best believe those straggly hairs are not helping you, they are hurting you, they are making the hair appear dry, they are making the head appear dry. They are splitting right up. The shaft and taking beautiful and perfectly good hair with it. So you definitely want to make sure that you maintain your trim schedule and i do not trim textured hair unless it is silked out because i feel like that is not a true trim. If that hair is not bone straight for me to see exactly what i'm trimming now here is an example of what i mean by checking your cut. I am cutting the hair in vertical lines, so i am going to check my cut by parting, the hair horizontally. So that i can see exactly where i have too much weight, that is also something that a pro would do. They check their haircut to see if there is any weight or any corrections that need to be made now back to the trim schedule. Let'S talk a little bit for our relaxed clients or those of you who wear your hair straight year-round and your hair typically. Well, i'm not even gon na say you wear your hair straight. This is going to be for our relaxed girls period. If you are relaxed, you are to be getting your trim done at every retouch relaxer now i say this to be funny in a lot of the elite hair care videos, but i'm going to tell you guys this straightforward. If your stylist does your relaxers based on when her bills are due, then your schedule is going to be thrown off. Typically, a retouch relaxer is done at anywhere after week, 6 and before week, 12.. Some people can go 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks 10 weeks, but as long as you are getting your trim within week, 6 to 12, you are perfectly good at that point. If you allow your hair to get too far gone, then i definitely recommend making sure that you get your ends checked. Those split ends are not going to help you and they're going to make life so much more complicated for you now. I hope these pro tips that i gave you guys in this short video were of some help for you. Please please, please don't forget to hit that subscribe button and thumbs up
