Caring For Children’S Hair

So today we are working with my tween's hair, your tween um she's, getting ready for her eighth grade shindig shindig, and she decided that this this dance she'd like to get her hair straightened um. She has a lot of congestion on her scalp, so i said i would bring you guys along and then we'll talk a little bit about caring for children's hair and also just some pro tips and tricks for situations like hers where she is a teenager now, but She has braids a lot we've gotten into the braids thing she used to get cornrows and we have quickly cut that out, because her hair is fine in texture, and i noticed that her hairline was beginning to suffer. So we went back to the box braids, primarily because it's easier for them to manage, especially with her hair. She has to use a lot of gels and such that's exactly what she has in her hair right now and her hair is really fine in texture, and it also is very easy to um break. So no more cornrows will be going in her head um. She does use our serum quite often quite often, while she has her braids in alex too. Their hair grows out really really well, but we're not going to do braids for the eighth grade, socials, so hey, so i'm just going through and just lifting up any any build up on her scalp. I don't have to use the soothing balance tree treatment on her. Mainly because it's not that much buildup, that's number one um number two: are you really itchy? I don't think she's that itchy and she washed her hair after taking her braids out so and as soon as i say, are you itchy? Your sister starts to scratch. Itchy alex all right come on back slide down, she's been looking forward to this day. She loves getting her hair straightened, but it doesn't last, but we are going to go ahead and shampoo. Her um we're going to use the moist repair on her, even though she's somewhat fine in texture. But the reason why i'm going to use a moisture pair is because she's had braids in for about four almost six weeks and she took them out, so she definitely needs to get some hydration in her hair. I'M also going to do a quick, hydration treatment on her, but we're going to start by rinsing out all of this gel that she has in her hair. Now, when you're working with children's hair, you really just treat it like if it was an adult i'll, tell you why children have more hair than we do as adults, so their situations are even worse than ours, except for the fact that we have maturity in our Hair, but they perspire a lot more um. They do a lot more to their hair than we do. You know their hair is in the same style for sometimes long periods of time. So that's definitely something that i would say requires a lot more maintenance. So what i'm going to do is i'm going to actually use some of our new soothe and balance sulfate free condition, shampoo. What happen go ahead, christian! You need to use the restroom go ahead. Um soothe imbalance, shampoo, this one is actually releasing towards the end of this month. So this is like a very minty soothing shampoo. It helps to remove any buildup on the scalp she's, also stuffy. So that's another reason why i decided to use it anyway. It'S going to open up her sinuses and it also makes the scalp feel really really good. It'S kind of like a cooling sensation. What do you think this one? Is it cold a little bit? Is it unbearable? No? Okay, so this is definitely going to be our clarifier, but it's also going to help lift all that build up on her scalp that she has and then i'm going to get our. If i can find my little scalp scratcher, i don't know where it is huh. I wonder if i throw it out: oh no, there we go stop scratching. This is going to help get that blood flow. How does that feel good? It'S itchy a little bit there. We just you just touched it right there, so i'm just using it just to get the itch better, all right, so i'm gon na rinse this out and then we're gon na start. Our treatment shampoo, which is gon na, be our moist repair, shampoo and because she's getting a press. I do want to make sure that i don't do too much moisturizer. I don't want her hair to be heavy, but at the same time i still want to moisturize or hydrate her hair, so push back in the bowl. Please thank you. Thank you. Mommy see, you know how i was turning 13. You straightened my hair mom mm-hmm. You do like that yeah all right, so we're going to use a little bit of the moist repair. Shampoo small amount, not much is needed. That was about a quarter in size, so you guys see how i can almost comb through her hair. Now this won't work with everyone's hair texture, but she is. She has a very loose curl pattern, so i don't have to worry too much with her hair now am i able to do that all the time with, like alex and christian, no sit down, um all right, so i'm gon na take out. I don't want her hair to be too heavy, especially because she's going to an event tomorrow. So i'm going to turn that on and i'm actually going to be using some of the moist me 24 karat mask on her hair, okay, but i'm going to use it with the steam treatment and i only use the small amount. This is good. Thank you. Okay, so we're gon na just rub that all into her hair and i'm waiting on the steamer to heat up there, we go all right. I'M just gon na go through just detangle her once more i'll read you guys questions in just a moment, all right, so we're going to use cold water. Now, i'm not gon na be roughing up her head anymore, like in regards to like scrubbing or anything, because i don't want her hair to re-tangle after detangling twice so the goal now is just to make sure that all of the curve conditioner is rinsed out steaming. The hair helps to drive in that hydration. It opens the cuticle and drives in those hydration or water molecules into the hair, and it also opens the cuticle so that it can deposit the conditioner just make sure we give her a good rinse in the nape here. Foreign all right, i'm gon na towel dry, her hair. You want yours, washed and straightened. You guys will look like 20 minutes you're. One of those people alice is always here. This doesn't mess my hair up. It'S good to be conscious of your hair, though all right, not this one, this one with anything in her hair, so mom, you said this makes it curl all right, so i just sprayed her with a little bit of the hydra strength, leaving spray just going to Part her out so that she can dry somewhat. I don't need her to dry all the way i just want it to be slightly dry, so i'm just using a wide tooth comb and small sections, detangle her and then rope twist her to go under the dryer. This works no matter if you're an adult or a child, but this keeps the hair from retangling and it also makes your blow dry process a lot easier because you've divided the hair into smaller sections and you've detangled the hair all at the same time. So this is going to make life a lot easier for you, especially when you're dealing with kids or people who are extremely tender headed. You want to detangle them when they're at this part of the process and don't wait until they're dry. It says she's so cute. Your sister is like they are like twins anyway, so yeah you gon na you gon na return, though so you're not gon na return. Those you want the sweater to go with it since you already okay, no problem. Clearly i don't have nothing come dryer. My child is going to be dry all right, so let me clean out the sink. I'M gon na put you guys over here, really quick. Let me get my area. You don't want this hello, bye-bye all right. So this is the h2 pro hurricane 3600. This blow dryer is a professional braid hybrid blow dryer all right, y'all come in here it's a hybrid blow dryer. It has a long mountain, i'm a long mouth dryer person. That'S another reason why i kind of switched over from the dyson, which i, like my dyson blow. Dryer, don't get me wrong, but this one is a lot lighter than my dice. So i have to say that lightness of the blow dryer or the weight of the blow dryer is definitely very important to me. When i first got this blow dryer, i tried it on my first client and i absolutely hate it as i do with every single tool that i get like i'll get a tool and then i'll try it for the first time and i'll hate it, and i Said at first i was gon na say no, i'm sending this one back. So then i said: okay i'll, try it again with another client and when i tried it with her, i did notice that my blow dry time was a little bit less. It was a lot simpler. It blows nice and fierce for my liking. It smooths the hair out really really well, so it did good for me it did good for me, but it took me doing it twice for me to say if i like it or not. Well, no, not even like it or not. I actually didn't like it the first time, but after my second time, and then i used it all day after that - and i was like okay yeah - this is a pro dryer. I can deal with this one. This is not a blow dryer that you're gon na find in the store either and then i'm just using it with our paddle brush to do my blow dry, real, simple, so nice and easy. Now, if you want to get the ends to be a little bit straighter, you can use a round brush that also has bristles on it. Thank you and this will help to straighten out the ends too, but i don't do this a lot now, because i know i want her to last more than five minutes tomorrow. I'M gon na do it for her alex expressed, lasted a long time that lasts like two weeks, yeah adriana's lasting, like 20 minutes. All we were doing was taking pictures. That'S it okay, so you can do that as well. That'S an easy way to get the ends. Nice and straight really quickly, her hair is already dry. So that's real simple! You guys see how long her hair is. Look at that that hair is gross right. I don't know the southerner yeah, it's right. It shrank really bad from who deciding that they wanted to get fairy nuts or something like that. That wasn't my butterflies. I got an extra product in my order, not sure if there was a special going on or not um send us an email just in case. So it dries really really quickly. That'S the good thing about this one. I like the fact the fast dry time, especially for me as a hair stylist. I could not be here all day blow drying hair. You guys see how fast that does. I will say one con about this blow. Dryer is that i, like the spout to be a lot more narrow. That'S just for me. That'S called a concentrator, but that's because i also use my blow dryer to straighten out hair, so the the more concentrated it is or the smaller the spout, the more force it blows out. That'S the only con that i kind of have with it um compared to my dyson. It'S half the weight. My hand feels very weird, because i've gotten used to the dyson and the dyson blow dry is very heavy. Now see how fast i was able to blow dry this side, no matter alex is like the hot comb scared her so bad. Since her hair is already dry. Do you switch to cooler, setting no ma'am and her hair is not already dry. Her hair is still slightly wet, but i don't. I don't really do the cool setting on the blow dryer i'm blow drying the hair, but that's also the reason why i like to air dry them under the dryer first to get most of the water out. So if you notice, i'm not all over trying to blow dry an entire head of wet hair like something wet, her roots are somewhat dry. The ends are not, but that's the reason why i do mine with my blow dryers the way i do all right. Let'S finish out the blow dry, while my own platform is getting hot and i'm going to be honest too putting it on a cooler setting to blow dry your hair, it's going to require you to pull through it a lot more. It'S going to take you a lot longer to blow dry that hair. I use the cool setting if i'm like, trying to set something. I set the curls or something of that nature, but i don't use the cool setting really much on the blow dryer. I will say i'm kind of glad, i'm not using the dyson blow dryer anymore, because my wrist, i developed a very small amount of carpal tunnel when i was pregnant and it never went away and that dyson it messed my wrists up even more. But because i like i like tools, i'm a cool junkie, so i must have the dice and i needed to have it and now i'm paying for it physically with my hands all right. That part is done. That part is done. That can go there. This will go in here crystal which moisturizer can i use on my sister locks. They are mature nine years moist repair. My daughter is five and i never thought to blow dry her hair will that make the ponytails stay longer, not necessarily especially because her hair isn't really trained. So she, if anything, she's just gon na scare, the little girl to death. So if she's not used to the blow dryer just start start slow, let me see um. You want to get burned, just move, relax your body, so i'm just using the hot comb ain't trying to put on your shoulders, please i can feel they don't like people, don't know you can feel their attention. You got that it's scary, just a lot to you. Am i getting your anxiety through the roof right now and then you said the roots that just really and you made it, look at that. That'S it that's all. I would definitely gift her the micro iron. If your stylist does a lot of shortcuts, the 3 10 of an inch she'll love it. If she doesn't do a lot of shortcuts, then do the one inch. What type of scarf would you wrap her hair, a stocking cap? No scarf we're going to use a stocking cap and she's, not even putting that bonnet thing on her head either.
