This week's video is a subject that so many of you have been asking about, and that is hair loss and how to treat it. I'M with courtney. Today, you all know: courtney she's been with me in numerous videos and a huge help in supporting just the videos themselves and the promotion of them, but also life makeover. So i love having you with me. She'S, a friend she's a compadre, but you know: courtney also suffered from hair loss and has a really interesting story, and i think all too often you know we think of hair loss later in life for women, but it can happen early on, and so i wanted Her to share her story, we're going to listen to you. Also. I'Ve got dr susan talking about the hormonal component. I'Ve got dr marjorie nigro on the dermatology side, so we're really tackling hair loss and then how to style. How to treat. All of that. You know. Tell me about your story and and what that was like for you yeah um, so i've always had thinner finer hair. I'Ve never had the biggest thickest head of hair, which i've always been wanting um and but i didn't really notice hair loss right. It was just finer - and i didn't have as much as that my ponytail wasn't as big as most people, whatever um and then within the last few years. Um just started noticing more and more of like my scalp. You could see it. It wasn't like huge, bald patches everywhere, but it was mainly just in this crown area which a lot of people that's where it happens, and it's terrible because that's the part that it's seen you know if i had it back here, it'd be not a problem. Um and it just progressively kind of kept getting worse and worse and um how to learn all these different styling techniques and how to use hair extensions and how to hide these different spots and um kind of i crafted this great. You know way of doing it and hiding it, and so it just kind of reached a point um. Actually the picture that i showed you um and we'll show all of you um one day i did. I just took a picture from the top because it just it seemed a little bit more thin than like what i thought it was, and so i just i took a picture. I was mortified, it was the first time you had seen yes, because who sees it from up here right like no, you don't especially yourself right, like maybe, if someone's taller than you sitting down like other people, will see you from that angle, but you're never going To see yourself from the back or from the top or anything like that, and so i took that picture, oh like i was like almost instantly in tears right like it's such a hard thing to go through and it sound. You know when you just say your hair. Other people can think it's not serious, but i think it's kind of like you, don't know until you go through it. It'S just hard. It'S easy, i think so much of beauty and femininity is tied into our hair yeah and it's it's an expression of that right, and so i know that's why a lot of women struggle with even cutting their hair because they feel that they're losing that part of Their femininity and it's something that people with alopecia go through because your hair is tied into your womanhood. It'S something that you know: women who suffer from disease or there's hair loss. You know that's a big big part of the struggle and it's just it's such an important conversation to have - and you know your case is probably more unusual - to have alopecia at such a young age, but for women over 45 50 yeah. They all start talking about thinning, hair and hair loss, and dr susan is joining us she's, going to talk about the hormonal impact on hair loss, so the most common cause would just be aging and hereditary changes. Just like men have male pattern. Baldness - and we all know what that looks like some men get it, some men get less. Some families of women have what we call female pattern, baldness, which luckily is also treatable, but we see just a receding. Hairline around the crown and also a widening of the center part, is typical and just a thinning all over. So you might find your ponytails getting a little bit thinner so that patient's going to have a typical presentation and we'll address what we can do for that a little bit later, i'm sure another patient might have bald patches very different. That'S called alopecia, which is completely different. That'S an autoimmune condition in most cases and would be treated differently. So, of course, that's going to look differently when she comes in and then a large category of patients have hormonal change, of course, in our age group as the underlying cause of their hair loss, thyroid issues, testosterone, issues, high or low, simply aging or any major hormone Change can cause hair loss, so that would be the most common that we see and you and i have talked about thyroid a lot before very commonly it's misdiagnosed or missed, and so, if you feel like that might be the cause for you. It'S critical that that's looked into in detail, and so many other things you know, because our hair is often really the thermometer of how we're doing inside just like our skin. It can be one of the things that tells us how things are going so if we're losing hair something's not functioning optimally, and it could be nutritional hormonal, infectious immune, so many different things. So getting the patient's history, seeing where she is in her life and then a physical exam is critical, but i think for your listeners, probably the hormonal issues and also those that just happen with aging are probably the most common. Of course, i've got a loop in dr marjorie nigro, my dermatologist, so now, let's get into causes on that side and dermatological solutions, and this is a very interesting subject and unfortunately, hair loss has become a huge part of my practice over the last two years. We always had cases coming in here and there, but since the beginning of the cove pandemic two years ago, uh the two factors that are really really important for hair loss are stress and that your physical condition, your health situation and both situations were really shaken. Up with the covet, so when a woman comes up with hair loss to my office uh, this is an appointment that we have to really go deep into the situation that this person is going to do physically, emotionally uh, her hormonal. So it's a big evaluation and uh as a dermatologist. I can't do this alone. I start uh the train going by asking all these questions, but uh right off the bat i can tell you. I will need the help of a primary care uh. Sometimes i will need the help of an endocrinologist for hormone situations. Um. I will need the help of uh, um nutritionists, sometimes and sometimes therapists and stress, relieve and meditation, and all of that, so we just have to evaluate what is going on with each individual person and then go from there. So my first approach is a hair analysis. Under the microscope, analyzing their health situation next step is going to be start on the vitamin, the fish, oil and uh the rogaine. I generally re-evaluate these women after two three months, because you will have really for you to notice something will be two to three months. So that's when i see them back and i explained to them, it takes a while for the hair forming inside the follicle to come out. So it is a little bit of time that you need to wait for the patients that are under the microscope. I diagnose the bed for the androgen form that is concerning. I recommend right away the treatment called the p r p or platelet rich plasma. This is an amazing breakthrough and it helped us tremendously with hair loss. So prp is a treatment that has been used for over 20 years. The platelets are cells that we all have that we call the repair cells, so they started by doing those injections in the scalp and, amazingly, it worked really well the damaged roots, the roots that are made to shrivel up and die. Those roots have started coming back up again and producing normal hair like they did before. Uh prp has to be done in a cycle of three to four treatments, and then you really evaluate after six months, and you continue, of course, the liquids and the creams and vitamins that's going to continue. What do the doctors say, the doctor um tested, but like my blood levels and my hormone levels, they checked my thyroid um that could be common as well. They did all of these tests and everything came back normal. They even sent me for an ultrasound of my thyroid because all the blood tests came back normal, so they were like. Oh, maybe this will show us something different everything came back normal, which i was happy because nothing was wrong with me, but then it like it didn't give me an answer. You know what i mean, so there was no answer there, and so i just kind of um waited a little bit longer and then decided to go to the dermatologist showed her my hair. She was not, i don't say, freaked out because that's kind of mean, but she was surprised with my age and how it looked and all of those different things um. She said it's a form of alopecia um. I think it was called andro alopecia, which is just essentially it's hereditary and my dad's side of the family all has thinner hair and on the thin side and all of that kind of stuff. So it makes sense if it's hereditary, so she prescribed me medication and a topical um and said it could take six months to a year to see results if even results may happen right, because it's not the same for everybody, um and i've been on it now. Next month will be a year, yeah um and i've had really amazing results. Um. Can i ask what she put you on yeah, yes um, so she put me on a spear in a lac tone. I have my. I brought my my bottle with me right um. She put me on spironolactone 100 milligram tablets, um, and i have to take it twice a day. Okay, so i usually take one in the morning and one at night, um spirolactones. That is also good for your skin. So if you develop, you know any. If you have acne or anything that you deal with your skin, they say it's kind of a two-for-one, yeah and another drug you might have heard of and most of us associate it with male baldness treatment. But it also works for women and that's finasteride or propecia. Long story works a little bit differently. It works on an enzyme that uh called uh five alpha reductase big long name, but basically it blocks the production of a hormone called dihydrotestosterone, which is a not testosterone but a metabolite of testosterone uh. So that's one of the causes of hair loss. How did she say how long you'd have to be on that? That'S going to be a forever thing, so this, along with the topical um, she told me that if i stop it will reverse. I know for me personally, the pill is very affordable um. I only paid ten dollars a month for it, so it's something reasonable that if you do have to be on the rest of your life, um, yes very, doable, um and then the topical is actually just um women's rogaine, yes, minoxidil is a. It works in various ways, but mostly by dilating the blood vessels that serve the follicles in our head. So it's been shown in studies to be very effective for either the type of hair loss that we see just with hereditary bad luck and aging. Minoxidil is very helpful and also for telogen effluvium, so that that's a great treatment as well as we talked about biotin checking, irons, critical checking thyroid, not just you know, we're not just prescribing medications to put a band-aid over but trying to find the cause and then Trying to get it to go away as quickly as possible, because i having been through it, i know how emotional right - and so you can. This is the box that i have um. I got this at target. You can get it at walmart. You can get it at heb, you can get it anywhere. You can um. This box was a three month, um supply and it's like 17. I think 20 bucks at most something like that. Um and it comes with three little bottles and this little topper. Okay and you just um, so you open it there's a little like one milliliter on there, so we just um fill it up to about the line-ish, and then i mean i haven't done this today, so i'll, do it real, quick, okay, um and then literally just I just put it on my head and just and you just follow right along your part line where um yeah, i usually um i'll, try to get it in like different parts like sometimes i'll. Do it over here, sometimes just so. It kind of reaches everywhere. The biggest thing is just that it's gon na just feel a little bit damp for a second, because you just put it on your head um. So usually i you know if i'm getting ready i'll, do my makeup first and i'll, let that dry. When i'm doing my makeup and then i'll do my hair after once, it's dry and good to go, you know for a while, you said you had to cover and i guess you have to kind of fake it till you make it yes right, yeah in order To get there, you probably learned a lot of not only styling tricks, but products yeah to really help thicken the hair, or at least make it look. Thicker wait until it got thicker. So show me some of your kind of tried and true formulations here. Okay, so we'll take the hair out um, so the first step is obviously washing your hair um i've gone through a million shampoos and conditioners, and everything to try to find a good one right um. So these have been my two favorites um. One is big. Sexy hair, oh yeah, um and then the other one is called ren pure originals, um, biotin and collagen. I'Ve just found that these, because the biggest thing when you have thinner hair is that you can't have it be weighed down, because if it's weighed down, then it looks more flat to your head. It looks like you have less hair, it's the whole nine, so it needs to be um like even right now like. I would never would just wear my hair because right we got, we have to do some of these too. We have to do something with it. Okay, um so yeah. Those would be the first two that i start with and then, when i get out of the shower um, oh and another big point about the shower, yes, is that i don't use conditioner ever and some people like cringe when i say that i couldn't do it Because my hair is too dry and frizzy yeah, i get it because it makes your hair look, thicker, yeah and like so without using can when you do use conditioner your hair is soft and silky and smooth, but on the flip side, it's flat to your head. It'S this soft and silkiness that will eventually just be like greasiness, which also kind of like separates your hair. A little bit that, if you like, cannot live without conditioner, is to just condition your ends, because then it won't be up here and it won't be weighing down your head or your hair. And then, when i get out of the shower, i put this pantene volume and body mousse in um and that's just mainly to give it a little bit of texture um and so when your hair is wet out of the shower i'll. Just put that on there. I typically just sleep with it on, and it really helps with a it does create the volume and body that you're looking for, but then, when you're styling your hair um, it helps it hold it right. It gives it something to hold on to versus just like falling flat falling loose. You can't get your curls to stay, yeah, that'll kind of help, keep them up and then, when it's wet you can put this um. It'S the garnier fructis um. It'S called root. Amp. Okay, um and basically when your hair is wet. Oh, it's a root spray. Yes, and you can just kind of put it on your roots. Okay, um and i've noticed that's probably one of the newer products that i've been using um and i've noticed a pretty big difference. Yes, root. Lifting products are really really great for creating that volume and, like you say it allows that bend from the heat to keep the bend. And so that's what you need to get that volume up at the crown or or you know, wherever you're sitting even um in the front. Yes, very cool, and i love the fact that all of this is drugstore it is. It is, it's all very cheap. Um very affordable, okay and then we get into doing our hair right um, so we're going to pause here here. I don't know if there's an available one over here: okay um now we're gon na style, extensions, curl, the whole night, um, okay. So what you got these are my extensions. It'S really just all the equipment, yes yeah. Where did you find these um? I think i got these at sally beauty, yep um. You can get they're everywhere now everywhere um they are. I mean you can pay good money. I think these were probably like between a hundred and two hundred dollars um. They feel they're real hair. Yes, yes, real human hair, um, which i would suggest, because if you're gon na be washing them, curling them using any type of heat and will just they'll look nicer. This is so great, yes um and they come in all different like this is just like a one clip one. I think you have like a three clip. There'S two clips um, so you can see they're already now you curl you put these in first and then you curl all of it together your hair and this. So i do it the opposite, um. I know people that do it like that. I think like imagine, if you could take your hair off and just do it right in front of you that'd be a lot easier. So that's why i just when they're out of my head, i curl them all, because i'm like how much easier to sit here and look at it and be like you know, curling versus, like your hands, are pain. Your hands are getting tired. It'S a full head of hair to curl um, so you can do it either way. Um i've never noticed a difference between, like you know, blending it together your real hair and the fake hair um. So i'm really just curling this. I use a little wand and voila wow and they're already kind of curled, because i had them curled before, but i usually like to freshen up the curls before okay, we wear them again use a regular curling iron or if you like, straight hair, you could straighten Them i found that when you, when i curl my hair, i think i can get more volume and that kind of can hide the the thinness or the scalp or you know what i mean. I don't know. If there's you know, maybe there's more going on right. Um and with straight hair, it's typically flat to your head: let them cool a little bit like you. Would your real hair right, um, let them cool, set it to the side and then just go on to the next one. Um. Are you putting any product in these to hold the curl, so the same exact products that i said i use on my real hair. I use on these so i'll use the same shampoo um to wash them and then, when they're done i'll, use the same mousse and put a little bit of mousse in them. So the whole the curl will hold um the good things about the. The extensions is that you don't have to wash them all the time and when you do wash them it's fairly easy do all clip in extensions, come the same length or do they come shorter, or do you just get them that length and then put them in Your hair and have your hair stylist, maybe cut them yeah, so any any of those options you can get them shorter, they have longer ones, they have multiple colored ones, um anything you can look for um. I have i've cut these myself um and i've had even my hairdresser cut a few as well. Also, you know if you invest in a really good brand, like i've had these for probably three or four years like a long time and they're, like my tried and true, and i just i feel like yeah - i've like broken them in and they they feel. Like. My hair, and so i feel like if i got like brand new ones, they would be the silky smooth and i'm like it, just wouldn't, wouldn't feel like yeah like and what i've been working with and all this kind of stuff um. I can look it up and um we can put it. Yes, let me look it up because i said i got them a few years ago and i just haven't been able to look back and now we have to curl our own headphones right. So i usually just um and that's another good thing again. If you have thin hair, i guess again. I'Ve looked for all the positives with this, because it's very easy and frustrating to think of all the negatives. So when you focus on the positives it just it makes it better, and i've always said, and there would be times i'd be so frustrated or i'd be crying or whatever, and i just remember always telling my mom, like you know, like god, gave me this for A reason because he knew i could handle it. He knew i'd find a solution. He knew you know what i mean i was like. I was the person because i could do it. You know what i and now you're helping. So many people. Yes, yes, yes, yes um, so yeah, i just sectioned my hair and again this now we look like we have a decent amount of hair on our head, but i tell you a year ago this was a completely different story, so i don't want anyone to be Like oh, she doesn't even have really that fan of hair, because it's terrible yes, yes, yes, yes, um, so yeah! I will spray a little bit of dry shampoo. I switch out my dry shampoos all the time, i'm always trying new ones. This is hask. It'S a charcoal citrus um, purifying dry shampoo, i like their stuff, um, yes, and then also the tried and true um. The batiste dry. Shampoo batis is amazing because they make them in dark color options. So when you spray it on your hair and it's typically like white, if you have very dark hair - that you have to spend a million years either rubbing it in or it doesn't even go away. Yeah um - and this says beautiful, brunettes yeah, that's a brunette and they even have a one darker than that that i typically use. I couldn't find it so i just brought the brunette one okay um, but they have a bunch of different shades, which is so so nice for if you have dark, hair um so we'll take here, we'll just take the petite one and we'll spray it in this Mirror over here is that okay, like dry blindly just using a curling iron um, and then i just kind of take my fingers through it i'll brush it out a little bit. Oh wow, how nice to have someone? Oh my gosh! Imagine oh my goodness! This is the time like this is a thickening hair, lifter, the not your mother's brand. I love also their dry. Shampoo is great too, and it's literally for fine thin hair volume strengthens i'll just like kind of go down here and just spray. It just a little bit because this just like the other one, is kind of like wet yeah. Okay, yeah, it's a one stream thing, yeah, so i'll, just spray, just a little bit just to kind of just kind of get up by your yeah like an inch away from your scalp yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, and then, if you want yeah. These are a lot of products, but this is just really what i've i've had to do right for a while. I don't use as many now, but if you want that big voluminous kind of look - and you don't have the hair to do it, then this is the way um. So this is a texturizing spray. I love that dominique gave me. Actually, she probably gave it to me, like i don't know six seven months ago, at this point and it's uh by helium. I think you use like their hair spray and things like that yeah. I think yes, spray. I use humidity. Yes - and this is you can use it pre and post style, which is great dual purpose body: enhanced thermal buffer blow out curl scrunch. It'S got sunscreen, that's one great thing: i love about helium, so i'll, just kind of throw that in there you have to have these products and the curl hold right, and now we are going to just curl our real hair. Just like we did um the extensions yeah, so you just use a spiral iron and you leave out your ends. Yes, i leave out a little bit of the end um curl. I know for some people um the wands just don't work for them yeah. I know some people struggle or they burn their hands, oftentimes that you have to wear gloves. Yes, um i've just found that that's what works best for me and it's like the simplest and the easiest and all of that good stuff. But if you have a um curling iron, i know some people like to curl their hair with their straightener and whatever we'll say you save your ends by doing that, yeah, it's a really really good thing. Oh look at that see this is, i think everyone needs a dominique while they do their hair. Do you have any particular way that you you twist it or is it just i, so i try to do it different ways throughout to make it look a little bit more natural, but when i'm surround all the pieces surrounding my face um i do away from The face doing good we're getting there we're just getting there. This would be the part, and this where i would see the most scalp so badly, and so my solution to that um is that they have these now sprays that are supposed to be for um a root touch-up, so you know think dominique's hair. If she was a natural blonde, she dyed her hair, dark she laughs. Okay, i'm sorry! I was very funny if she died if she was a natural bond and she dyed her hair dark, her roots would come in blondes and all this stuff. Okay, this is dark spray. Okay, okay touch up, yes, and so you basically were like spray painting your skin, yes, which is why, whenever i would dye my hair like black? Yes, i would love, because you know when you like, you um get your scalp like when you dye your hair and sometimes your scalp gets dyed. Yes, i would love that and everyone would hate it, but i'm like it looks like i have a full head of hair and i loved it. I always wanted my scalp to be dyed. Yeah um, i even looked into that too. They have basically microblading for your head now, and so you can fill in your scalp, which that's a whole different. I'Ve never tried that, but um with this, you can just spray it on your head. They just came out with this big one, thank god because those little ones you go through so quickly, but i just kind of take it and i would go so you're just hitting right up there, yes and like right, where yeah, where your scalp would show or If you have more problems or whatever the case is um and again that doesn't affect your styling, it dries pretty quickly. Um. The only downside to this is that, and it's going to be pretty intense right now, because i just sprayed it, but it's not it will. It will transfer yes, um. I'Ve never had it transfer like i've slept in with this. On my i've, never had it transfer onto a pillow or like that, but your hands. So when i'm done like my hands, are gon na be like black, but you just wash them and it's okay but dry and stop transferring um. It'S gon na keep transferring to your hands. Really yes, and i just don't touch your hair, yes, um yeah like when you're out avoid it. Oh see like right here. This is a good example of like that might be just like normal scalp. I don't know, but you take a spray. Oh look at that. Yep see. That was a better example and it just kind of just completely covered it yeah um. So again, when you have those bigger spots, especially on the top, it's so so helpful yeah. So what you're doing now um i'm out of the line of fire yeah? Thank you. I am just spraying it. This garnier fructis um hairspray, has been like my tried and true okay um, especially it's anti-humidity, which in texas, oh my gosh, you have to have um, which yeah bear. I mean it works really good, but in texas it's really hard to even hold up. So my curls are in we're gon na be safe, shake them out. Yes, you're, safe, we're gon na shake out the curls, okay and then put the extensions on okay. So i don't know if she goes okay and then i also just realized yeah like everywhere. I'M not okay, so now again we're going to part. I typically like to leave out these pieces because if your extensions get, if you like, you can clip it in and you can't get them back out and it's just it's painful and it doesn't look good okay. So now we're we're clipped, so you can just stay out. I don't know if you can see it from the back. It'S really just half a path down. Um. You can go even a little bit more than halfway like i should probably grab. Maybe a little bit more. You mean lower yeah, go a little bit lower and i used to put them much higher and then i actually was in a wedding and - and you could see the well the person that did my hair, because i was like i'll curl, the hair and i'll curl. The extensions and then you can do whatever you want with it, and i had the extensions in my hair and they were like. Why are you putting these so high and they were there, so i was like so ever since then. I was like all right. We'Ll go lower, okay, um! Yes, so i usually start with the the biggest ones. So now that your curls have been sitting for a second nope that'll get everywhere, your curls have been sitting for a second, i you can either brush them out. Okay or you can do what i just did and you can kind of shake them out and bring fingers through them, whatever you think kind of works better. So now we'll take this back. I don't know if i can yeah um and then we're just gon na clip and then you clip it yep and then you and you link it to a piece of hair right and then clip clip. And you hear it snap, yes, yeah! It'S these little clips and we're just snapping. I i'm going to do a lot of layers because we don't have a lot of hair right, so you have to and you need to be able to cover them with the hair on the top. So we're just going to keep layering, so you have the amount of hair. You need to actually cover them, because if you do that, you're going to keep going up and up and up and then you're going to have these little, the crown of your hair, which is usually the thinnest you're, going to be able to cover it up. Smart um stacking them up. Yes, yes, yes, yes, do these irritate or bother you at all, or do you get used to them? You get pretty used to them. I would say if i'm putting them at like 7am and not coming home until 9pm it'll start just a little bit, but i also just have a sensitive head. So it might just be a personal thing, but i never sleep in them or anything like that, which is why i do think that there's an advantage of the clip-ins versus any other extension, because other ones are semi-permanent. So you can't take them out at the end of the day, but we'll keep going just keep stacking yeah and again there's tons of videos um everywhere on different techniques for extensions and you kind of just develop your own. You know what i mean, because i didn't see anybody stacking them like this, but again i was like well, i have thinner hair, so i can't be putting them in 20 different spots because i don't have the hair covered up. This takes me pretty quick to do, but at first no trying to figure out trying to you know do all these things um. Another really good tip is that if you do need more volume like you were saying, you can clip these in upside down so like. Instead of it laying flat like this, you could go like this and then lay it like this and then, like you said it's like popping up yeah. Yes, i don't know if you can see. Yes, exactly so um a bunch of different ways, and we can even leave that one like that. It won't really make up a difference, um so yeah. So now, at this point you just basically decide what style you're going for that day. You can again, i can put these all up and it would make a really cute curly pony and you wouldn't even once this is down. You won't even see it. You could do a half up half down um. You can really style them because again, if you leave your hair down, then you have to worry about what's in here, so i typically go for even like that. Like a half bun or a half pony, or a ponytail or just some sort of styling, that's going to not show this part. Your eye goes to all the fullness. Yes exactly you don't even see that this part's thinner than that all you see is just this. So it's how big? Yes, yes, it's huge, so you can kind of play with it at this point. Some people don't want it to be this big. It will also fall throughout the day right um, but it's great to have the option yes beyond or you can even like brush it out a little bit. Um. Look at that and you created that nice little. Yes, it's up there and it's all kind of. I can show it from the back because yeah it's pretty hidden with the hair and you don't see any of it and you look like you, have this giant head of hair yeah and then, like a great thing like i said, it's real hair, so we're gon Na hit it with some hairspray, keep it all together, yeah, and even at this point, i'd, maybe like re-curl a few of these pieces or something if they've fallen, um now we're at the point. We don't even have like a part anymore. Yes, it's insane. It is insane insane, it's truly, like i said, life-changing like beyond life-changing, but you know what a blessing that you know when you came in just your natural hair and the way i know was beautiful, thank you and you can go just like that. I appreciate it because i know a year ago: nobody would ever ever even say that to me um so yeah like i said it seems very surface level. But if you deal with it, you know exactly what i'm talking about with that it's awful, and so, if you, if you have thinning hair, if you can't go to the doctors, you can't go to the dermatologist or no one's prescribing anything or no one. You know, maybe you can't afford it or whatever the case is that maybe there's maybe there's not even a medical reason why you know, or maybe the prescriptions aren't working and even if you do get a prescription, because that was my thing when the doctor prescribed everything To me i was like oh my gosh a year. Wait! Yes, and now it seems like so quick right. It'S like! Oh! That was a year ago. Oh my gosh, so fast, but you know when you're in it. You'Re, like still have to wait another year and i just have to go to the dermatologist every month and we would do a check-in and i'm like nothing's happening nothing's happening nothing's happening like and um. I was considering prp shots, but i was ready to do anything. Anything even like a hair transplant, hair plugs like any. I was like. I don't care what it is. I don't care how painful it is. I don't want to deal with this anymore um, and so this was kind of the last ditch effort before i did spend the big money and the pain - and i don't know what the upkeep even looks for like for those things um, but obviously taking a pill And putting a little topical on your head and the topical is great, because anybody can get it over the counter. You can get it anywhere um, but yeah. It was definitely a journey. Yes, a journey, a very big journey, but you know it's sometimes through those journeys and challenges where we figure out our strength, our resilience and our own little hacks to things and that's what makes i think youtube a very special place. Is that it's this wonderful common ground of people who figured stuff out, you know, and the whole point i think, is to help people and i think, you've been an enormous help here with all of your products, your techniques, what you've figured out you being open about Your journey and i can't tell you how many people you're going to help by doing it. Thank you that makes me so happy. Thank you. You make me happy. I love you. I love your hair. Thank you like i said i need some styling at this point. I am so happy to see that over the past five years, basically uh people are being told and are being encouraged to love their hair. The way it is, you know it's so important for us as women to accept ourselves and to love it and to honor it and to show ourselves and not try to be someone else as soon as you try to change the aspect of your hair, uh change, The color too much change, we are creating damage and we are creating a cycle that then you straighten, you have to keep straightening and you have to keep going and then the hair is more and more damaged and then the fall. So now, if you open a vogue magazine, you are going to see women with all sorts of thickness of color, of curly, hair of big, wonderful hair. So just love yourself, i mean just go for less trauma, just be free from the norm of what hair should be. You should be you that you shouldn't try to be anybody else. I think brown black is in your future. It might be, i think they get to go. Okay, we'll see you next week. Thank you. Courtney.

Marsha Perry: I don’t necessarily have this challenge but I so appreciate Courtney’s sharing. I love having a resource to help others if the need comes up. Thank you!

stephanie adams: HUGE thank you to Courtney for sharing her story, tips, and tricks. I was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia 15 years ago and to say it’s been a struggle is an understatement. I love the spin that Courtney has on it that God knew she’d be able to rock this out- and she absolutely proved that today! Blessings to you both!

neanea: How sweet of Courtney to be so open and honest regarding her journey! I have had hair loss problems a couple of times, most recently Covid. Thank you for your vulnerability and knowledge!

Lea: Courtney seems to be such a sweet person! bring her on your channel as often as possible ❤️

Stephanie Williamson: After many many tears, tests, treatments, lotions and potions, toppers and wigs ; I’ve finally accepted (MOST DAYS)that it’s sometimes just genetics and nothing can be “done” about it. Cut a pixie this year and love it! Not perfect, never will be but I’ve quit stressing about it. It’s been a long painful process to reach this acceptance for sure.

Cynthia P.: Thank you for this video! ❤️ As women, we should have more “out loud” conversations about hair loss. When mine started over 10 years ago at the beginning of perimenopause; it was hard to get helpful information, but it’s strange how us women very rarely share our experiences about hair loss.

Myriam González: I’m so grateful for this video!! I’ve been dealing with hair loss since my 30 , thank you both for speaking so open and offering us a great amount of products but the most important thing giving us the courage to be ourselves

Daisy Mays Mommy Chann: I am dealing with hairless right now. I never saw it coming Thank you so much for this video

Elizabeth Walker: I loved this - thank you, Dominique, for providing such a comprehensive and informative video on hair loss! I loved that you included both Courtney’s (many thanks to her!) personal experience and the medical perspectives. All the ladies in this video did a wonderful job covering all the bases!

Macca Mcdonagh: Really good piece Dominique. It's going to help so many women. Thank you x

Unknown TX: I’m at the beginning of my journey of trying to fix my thinning hair. This has been sooooo helpful and insightful! Thank you for showing products that don’t cost a fortune as well! You are appreciated! ❤️

Gail Davis: I was losing hair by the handfuls. I tried Biotin nothing happened. Doctor recommended taking Zinc 9mg a day and within a week hair shedding stopped and now, 5 months later still amazing results! I can brush my hair without hair in my brush or comb!

Nonny: I've lost a lot of hair due to a hormonal imbalance & was wondering what I could do, so thank you so much for making this extremely useful video.

Jane B: I’m using liquid collagen and it’s helped a lot. It’s possible, that by taking some of the length off and layering your hair, it’ll look thicker. I’m trying to help my son with the same issue. I know it’s hard.

Glenda Yelverton: I feel blessed that I have not had this problem and I feel for those that have. I can only imagine how difficult it has been for Courtney. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.❤️

Besh Florida: Courtney is absolutely stunning! I love her personality and her willingness to share her tips on hair loss. I hope we see more of her on your channel!

Jane Gendreau: Love this girl!! So positive about her hair loss journey!! I decided to have the same attitude and approach when I started losing my hair (also, was always fine hair to begin with)!! Knew it was for a reason and I had the hudspuh to handle it and "rock" it!! Bravo, Courtney and thanks so much for the awesome ideas!!!

Ann Hall: How brave for someone so young to share there journey well done. Your a beautiful lady Courtney x

madeleine carlsson: Courtney, I think you might go to a doctor and tell them to take blood about your thyroid gland. My throat looked exacly like yours. Thank you for sharing your story. You are a great team

Kathy Bondi: How brave Courtney is to share herself with us! Thank you for this video! So many things were helpful for me. I have a slight hair loss at one temple, and I'll be looking into several things she covered. Thanks so much to both of you!

Jenni Y: Thank you, Courtney, for sharing your experience and many great tips!! I noticed my hairline receding and heard that my habit of pulling it back into a tight chignon may be contributing to the problem, so trying to wear it differently now. Thank you, everyone, for your input!

Sheila Rachal: Thank you for this incredible content! Thanks also to Courtney for your vulnerability and honesty! It is very depressing to lose your hair. I have been in a journey as well. It is overwhelming! I so appreciate all the doctors’ advice and Courtney sharing her advice on how to style your hair! Another great video!❤️

Cynthia Szall: Thank you so much Dominique, and especially Courtney for addressing this issue. I to am suffering from hair loss. Had thyroid cancer and my doctor said here in Pa. that the two are not connected! The medical doctors here in this area of Pa. are very behind in stuff like this. And it’s very hard to get even a dermatologist since there are is only one or so in the area that I live in. She is very busy treating people with skin cancer, you feel very petty asking for help about hair loss compared to skin cancer. Again thank you to both of you for caring and sharing.

tinkershimmy: Oh, Courtney! My heart immediately went out to you when I saw that picture. I’ve been losing hair, too, and I also started with fine thin hair. My hormones changed with uterine fibroids. I’ve had a hysterectomy now but I think I’m still losing. Like there’s too much in my hair brush each day. Thank you so much for sharing. I know how sensitive it is. ❤️

Alicia Reyna: Thank you for addressing this issue and for Courtney to be so honest and sharing a "real live person's" routine who actually struggles with this on a daily basis. I loved this segment.

Tami Tigner: Thank you for this informative and honest discussion about women’s hair loss! I was in my 30’s like Courtney when I started loosing my hair. It has been a 17 year struggle in figuring out and making positive progress. My diagnosis, treatment and styling process has been different but the emotional struggle and trauma is the same. Thank you for Courtney for sharing your story!!

Violet Alvarez: I was in my 20’s when I started losing hair….not alopecia. I’m in my 60’s and have never been able to crack that code. I feel it did have something to do with Thyroid, stress, hormones! The doctors then were never able to help me it has been devastating and doctors don’t look at the entire situation.

Susan Nadolny: Courtney, If the spironolactone worked, it sounds like an androgen problem. Possibly Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS. It often originates from a problem with insulin. Look into the med Metformin.

Christina Hernandez: I have had horrible hair loss for years, thank goodness I started with a very thick head of hair so I still have hair left. But for years doctor's would test my thyroid, hormones etc always came back normal. After 10 years of this I finally went to my doctor, pretty much demanded they test me for autoimmune disease and come to find out, I have SLE Lupus. Stay persistent ladies, keep advocating for yourselves. You know your body and you know when something feels off even when the labs say differently.

Sherry: Oh yes ma’am, count me in! 57, menopause, hair on chin ….too little on head!

Crystal Dawn: This was amazing!! Courtney has helped so many by sharing her story, tips, and tricks! My hair started thinning about 13 years ago. Thank goodness I started out with a lot of hair. Went to the Dr several times and like Courtney, I never received any answers. I’ve not found a remedy for my situation. I was also given spironalactone. It as well as topicals didn’t seem to make a big difference and I was concerned about the long term impact. I typically wear my hair up which makes it easier for me to hide that my hair is thin. I also use the root spray which is a godsend! If I ever wear it down, I also use extensions. I really enjoyed seeing how Courtney layered hers on top of one another. I will definitely try that. Thank you for addressing this painful issue and helping us hold on to our confidence through these great styling tips!

My Fabulous Life with Lupus: I have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis and during a particularly stressful year, I lost all the hair in the front half of my head, from the ears forward to my forehead. Eventually, the hair grew back but it did take about 2-3 years for it to be full again after the stressful situation was resolved. I just wanted to mention this to say when you have an autoimmune disease, hair loss can be a part of it but it can, and sometimes does, grow back without intervention. Thanks for sharing this topic.

Regina Rico: Actually, Courtney is your “comadre” I’m glad to hear she has been able to work on recovering her hair. She is wonderful and I’m glad she’s in your life (and ours!!). ❤️

C: Thanks for sharing, Courtney, and being so brave. I started worrying about hair loss in the front during menopause. Luckily after getting on Vit D3, K2, and Calcium, it stopped. Great and important video, Dominique.✌️

Diane Black: This is so appreciated!!! Been dealing for the last 9 months!

Joanne Danson: I always watch your hair videos, despite my recent hair loss struggles. This one was so helpful. Thank you Courtney for all of your tips and tricks. After being told I was imagining the huge handfuls of hair falling out in my hands when I washed it by my doctor, I spent hours and hours trawling the internet determined to bring some confidence back in way of hair. It’s been a real struggle to go from a huge mass of thick curly hair to virtually nothing but I’m making progress. 7 months on I have stopped the snapping, breaking and shedding cycle. And though I had to have it cut into a very short bob to avoid the straggly string like wispiness on the longer pieces. It’s now approaching collar length and the first 2inches of new growth is so much thicker and stronger and I’m confident it will look good again in another year. Good luck with your journey Courtney and to everyone else who is really struggling with their hair loss issues xx

denise meyer: I absolutely loved that video. Courtney, I feel for went you went through but you got through it and you are beautiful and have a wonderful, vibrant personality. Your hair looks great now and you have gorgeous skin and are so authentic ! Continued good luck on your hair journey.

I LOVE MONDAYS: My sister and I (both in our 50's) have the challenge of thin hair. This video has helped tremendously. thank you Courtney and Dominique. This has given us some options to play with.

Barbara M: Thank you Courtney! I’m in my late 60s and I’ve always had fine, thin hair. I’m not great at styling my hair but I’m going to practice using the products that you’ve suggested.

Laura Davis: Thank you for sharing, Courtney. My niece suffers from the same thing. I can't wait to share this with her. Thank you, Dominique, for having experts on to give advice.

Lori White: I had long wavy hair and about eighty percent of my hair fell out this past year due to covid . My doctor put me on oral minoxidil because the topic itched alot. The purpose of oral minoxidil is to boost my hair growth when it was falling out. So far I am very happy even though it was a long fourteen months!! Also after I wash my hair, I use Redken -Thickening Lotion 06 which works well. There is a solution for everyone, unfortunately it's a long journey! Hang in there and have some fun while waiting for your hair to turn beautiful again!

Cheryl Adamo: I’ve alway had fine thin hair until menopause and thyroid and I loved hearing what she uses and I will try some. My added issue since menopause is sweating thru my head, you get your hair perfect and then I sweat and the style is gone. Sweat will run down the back of my head, drip from my sides and my eyebrows hold the sweat from getting into my eyes. To go to a wedding it takes hours waiting for my head to cool down and the best one is going in the pool and my head is sweating!

Yvonne Ramirez: I've had alopecia since I was 20. I'm now 50 and I'm experiencing excessive hairloss due hormones on top of heritary alopecia. I use minoxidil and hair loss vitamins. It's still pretty bad but I'm not completely bald yet. I can't afford a dermatologist but if I could I highly recommend anyone with this problem to seek help. I also brought it up to my PCP since I was 20 and they would brush it off as stress. Temporary hair loss. So go to a dermatologist because it's very discouraging and it's affected my self esteem throughout the years, especially when people point it out.

Fran Cy: Yes yes yes this is the issue .. thinning hair is a fact & can’t be hidden.. thanksgiving day to watch this video.

Claudia Larrainzar: I also had hair loss due to my thyroid and stress, it grew back again, thank God!, but it feels awful!!! Courtney you are Dom and all of us "comadre". Thanks for sharing your story with us!! You are so brave to share your pictures and story. Thanksss!!! Cheers from the Mexican sisters..

Linda: Thank you for this video, Dominique and Courtney!! This was so informative and fun! I have always had thin hair. You have given me some valuable info and ideas to pump things up a little. God bless you two!!

Lillian Tom: Your video couldn't be more timely. Hair loss has affected so many people I know, and I am not exempt. Each of us has some kind of hair loss journey and often it can be heartbreaking to feel like we just want to isolate ourselves. Courtney is such an amazing, sweet soul and I'm so glad she discovered life-changing hacks that have helped her tremendously. Dominique, you continue to cover topics that are current, extremely valuable, and much-needed. I am always reminded how much we need to be grateful for and love what we do have. I treat the strands that I do have with love. Thank you for creating and being the nucleus of this wonderful community!

Wendy Ash: I love this. I lost a ton of hair in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. There was nothing on the internet about it and it was super scary. I have never had COVID and didn’t feel stressed even though I had a really intensive job and was working on my MBA at the same time. It was coming out of my head in gobs. So happy to report that it has since grown back and boy did that take a while, but it did. We need to talk about this stuff. No more suffering in silence. Thank you Courtney for being so open and teaching us your secrets to feeling good in the face of something so unnerving!

Jeanette coyazo: The things we do to feel beautiful...So glad you found a remedy. It's just sad that we can't be ourselves., and feel OK. You are beautiful no matter what and thank you for sharing your story.

Sherry Hilliard: I was told to get the men's Rogaine - it's stronger AND cheaper. Don't pay the "pink tax"...

Marielee McGill: I lost just the top my hair and the temples a little bit on the side .the back of my hair is thick my sides are thin, it started 10 years ago and it didn’t dawn on me at the time ,but it was through stress from a separation ( him cheating). This is made me cry and it’s really helped me even though I’ve had it for quite a while, gone to the dermatologist, tried the bio tin everything ,it has not worked for me .so I do wear clip in bangs and I wish they had better clip and bangs ,they don’t, I don’t like the hair topper maybe I haven’t found one I like, but I keep my hair similar to Dominique‘s ,but I am going to try Courtney‘s trick with the hair extension for my side, and a lot of her stuff she was using, she gave me a lot of ideas .thank you ,I am I’m literally crying, this is a emotional subject and I’m so glad that you talked about it. I always had the most beautiful thick thick hair so this was devastating and when I take the clip in bangs off and see my hair it’s still devastating, thank you for this video thank you.

Harmony: Avoid the glue on individual hair extensions if you are losing hair as they make it worse Thanks for a really good video Dominique

Rhonda T: Thank you so much, Courtney, for being willing to share your journey with us and in doing so, be vulnerable but also help so many women! God bless you!! ❤

Kristi Arth: Something to keep in mind when using Rogaine in a house with pets is that it is toxic/deadly to cats and dogs. If some drips on the floor or counter and they walk through it and lick their paws, it can be a really bad deal and it doesn’t take much.

Gabriela Peppard: Yes women are judged harshly if they have hair problems (more than men). Mine didn’t start until mid thirties and it really does a number on your self esteem. I have fine hair and same thing as Courtney. Glad it’s more common to use extensions and I was curious as to the clip-ons and how well they stayed. I use extra body mousse and Toppik fibers. Thanks for this program.

Laura: I’m 67 and my hair is thinning. Thank you Dominique and Courtney. Very inspirational and informative!! God bless!

Monica Brown: I’m considering scalp micro blading for my crown. Any insight, tips, or testimonies?

Marilena: OMG, Courtney said everything that I have to do because of my thin, fine hair. I won't use conditioner even in the winter and with hard water. I have to use volumizing shampoos. I would rather have frizzy hair than flat, shiny hair that sticks to my long narrow face. I do not like my hair looking flat and smooth or with the beachy waves. I don't feel that is a flattering look. My dream hair is a wild, crazy professor mane with different shades of grey. Big, wild, colorful hair that looks alive is the best.

Shelly Cupp: Such a timely video, I literally just took a picture of my crown yesterday and cried in a fitting room I had no idea how thin it was getting but the lighting in there made me curious and when I looked I was shocked. I will be seeing my doctor next week. I had a lot of hairloss when I first went through menopause but it seemed to have come under control but now... Oh my goodness . Thank you for this video

Karen Goodyear: Good for you, Courtney! Thank you for being brave and coming forward with your hair growth challenges. Way to Go!!!

Sue: Very informative and helpful video, especially hearing Courtney’s personal journey as well as the doctors’ input. I’ve had hair breakage by my side part ever since I had radiation treatment for thyroid cancer eight years ago. It’s challenging dealing with breakage that’s difficult to repair, but I’m also grateful and blessed to have (mostly) a full head of hair. Courtney is a doll for sharing her story to try and help others who may be in the same situation.

Cathy Dunfee: I have been waiting hoping you would do a video on this topic. My hair was really shedding last fall and my hairdresser said that can naturally happen, I believe some was stress. It better lately and I’ve been using Oribe Serene Scalp Thickening Treatment Spray, so maybe that’s helping.

Nicole Walker: Fantastic vlog huge thanks to Courtney who described everything so eloquently and well. I am new to your channel and have to say your content is amazing it was so refreshing to see that I could get some of the products from my local chemist as I am in the UK and we don’t always have the same products as you over in USA. Huge hugs to everybody suffering from this it is not just physical but more mentally debilitating. Thank you again x

Tanita Hensley: Thanks to Courtney for sharing her journey with your viewers. Thank you Dominique, for addressing the issues that so many women experience!

Kristen Peterson: Thank you for this!!! I’m 47 and started losing my hair in my late 30s. My story is exactly like Courtney’s. It’s absolutely traumatizing. I’m learning to live with it and except it for what it is. I take Spironolactone & use Rogaine every day. It is what it is. I think it’s important to normalize this and make people aware so if you are going through it know you’re not alone.

kathy sanchez: Love this video!!! This will help soooo many women. It's amazing how issues such as stress affects the hair growth cycles. And that once the hair thinning is noted, the stress/crisis has "passed" 3 months ago!!! Thank you sooo much for sharing and showing the tips that you use!!! Blessings to Everyone!!!!

Alicja P: Thank you Courtney and Dominique. I'm a 68 years old female and for the last 10 years I've been using 5% topical Rogaine and taking New Nordic Hair Volume supplement (daily). My GP prescribes the Rogaine so my health insurance covers 80% (in Canada). I truly believe that if I haven't been taking those my hair would be much thinner. I also stopped dying my hair 8 years ago and that was one of the best decisions I made as far as my health and emotional well being.

Karen Kaza: I have to say -- this is the best video I have seen on hair loss and what to do including products. It is so informative with solid advice. I so appreciate you and Courtney and your medical professionals. Thank you again and again. Now if I can only get in to see my dermatologist. It takes forever, but I do have an appointment with my pcp.

Christina T.: Please thank Courtney for sharing her hair loss story, products she found helpful, and meds. She is beautiful;).❤

Angela VanHorn: Hi Dominique. Thank you for doing this show. I had my hairs falling out. It was in 2020 that I first shaved off my hair. Last year 2021, shaving off. My hair turn out healthy and thickers, but gray's, which I have no problem with grays, too ...I will be turn in 60 yrs this coming Sept. I have not yet doing my wellness checking up...will soon...

Susan Mulvey: Courtney is helping so many of us women! Thank you to her! My mother always said, “Your hair is your crowning glory!” I’ve alway had thin hair but a lot of hair! Now, though, being older, I’ve been losing my hair. So traumatic! For two years I kept telling my regular doctor, I’m losing my hair, I’m tired, and gaining weight! Finally he took a blood test…..it was my thyroid!! I was angry I had to go two years, with nothing being done. I still am losing my hair, I guess because of age. I’m going to get extensions now.

Casi: Perfect timing.. Lost my hair 11 yrs ago due to chemo.. Grew back nicely.. Now the cancer has metastasized (sneaky little things) Now I'm on an oral chemo and a side effect is thinning hair. Thank you Ladies

Neta Morton: Thank you so much for all the tips and tutorials on hair. I can very much relate to your guest. I have female pattern baldness hereditary and starting losing my hair at 28. It’s so frustrating sometimes but you are who you are right? ❤️

kittygram51: I had phenomenal results with 2% minoxidil, 20 years ago. The thinning was so upsetting, honestly in three months my hair mostly came back. You can cut back to once or twice a week eventually. No side effects except more fuzz on my face at peak usage. I used cvs brand, with a coupon it cost $10/month.

Erin Wright: Wow! Just wow Courtney! You are so beautiful. I love your techniques. What a blessing to so many women this video will be. To see a young beautiful woman give you the tips and tricks to overcome this, probably makes them not feel so alone. Always hope. Such an inspiration you both are.

Hazel Rogers: I found a hairdresser who understands my thinning hair and has helped me to find a hairstyle that suits me . I’ve also used to great success the brand Monat and now using olaplex and in the UK we have a company called Avon and I’m trying there densifier shampoo . Thank you for hi lighting this subject

Laura Rios: Great Video, I've been on a similar journey, just not as long, but I learned so much watching this. Thank you both for sharing your experience, you are helping so many women.♥️

Jean Nicholson: I have scarring alopecia, which was shocking to me. Once the hair follicles are gone they are gone, thankfully I caught it in early stages so it was treated by a dermatologist.

Annette Thrall: I’ve been dealing with hair loss since right after the birth of my first child 42 years ago. I basically do all the same tricks as Courtney, but I do not use hair extensions. I go on eBay and type in Toppik Colored hair thickener, in a 5.1 oz bottle for $17 and change. I’ve been using this root coverup for many years. I also have done 2 different hair transplants, and PRP treatments, and my hair still looks thin. Thanks for discussing this topic, I’m sure it will help many feel just a little but better trying new products, and walking around with their heads held high! Susanne Silber: I am 67, tried Bosley, twice still getting bare at temples and back on top. Thank you so much for this video!

Cristina Pal: Courtney, thank you for sharing your hair loss journey, this was not easy, so thank you.

Leza Hardy: Oh, I just can’t thank you enough for sharing this. At 60 yrs old I’m having issues with my hair thinning.

Tammie Elsik: Dominique!!! Once again you have come to our rescue. I'm literally dealing with this very thing. Thank you ❤️

Dstar1125: So helpful for those dealing with this. Thank you both!!! Kenneth’s hair salon also sells a texturizing spray that works wonders for thin and fine hair and had no color whatsoever. It’s similar to a hair spray but gives oomph and texture.

Olga L. Cholewa: Another helpful, educational and informative video. I first want to say God bless you both. Y'all have such a beautiful relationship that can be seen❤️ Courtney, your laugh and over all personality brought me such joy and laughter while watching. Thank you for your honesty and story and it will bring blessings to someone ❤️ I love seeing your joyful self in some of Dominique's videos and ya just crack me up Question, I loved your lil stick, what is it? Many blessings to you both. Love ya, from Chicago ❤️

Welcom Welcom: 50+ years ago I suffered from trichotillomania - pulling out one's hair. In those days it didn't have a name and treatment by a psychiatrist was ludicrous Started in my late teens until late 20's. Interesting if any subscribers suffered same. Leanne

lourdes cisneros: For many years, I used Toppik, a spray powder and regular powder applied on the scalp. The powder makes it look as if there is more hair. It comes in different colors.

Mira Max: I had a huge problem with thinning hair in my 30's I did some research and discovered Inositol, which is a key component in the strengthening of the hair follicle. That was 30 years ago I'm now 63 years old I have a head full of hair, people always comment on how much hair I have. Also I don't lose that much hair when I wash it. I'm not a doctor but it worked for me.

Jolie Dunham: What a wonderful video! I’ve been diagnosed with frontal fibrosing alopecia and my sis also is losing hair. It’s shocking and tough to deal with and your video covers every single aspect! Thank you to you and Courtney!

B. M: Often the hormonal balance is a point of hair loss. In addition, mineral deficiencies in particular are a second underlying problem. It is important that hair loss can also be caused by trauma, whether or not due to stress and/or illness.

marypierce207: Thank you for this video. Courtney, you were awesome. I am 62 & have been diagnosed with Covid related hair loss. I totally understand how awful it is to suddenly have clumps of hair come out. My PCP has checked out everything and there are no other underlying health issues. I've chosen not to use Rogaine because if you stop, you will have a major telogen effuvium. I am getting a little growth (Oct 2021 was my Covid illness), but not a lot. I love how you ended the video with your Dermatologist saying "Accept yourself".

Tammy Whatley: I've had thinning hair since menopause. I am on HRT and a medicine to help. I also use Toppik hair fibers to fill in the thinner areas. It washes out. It's at Ulta, Sally's, Walgreens, and maybe other places. It gives me the confidence I was lacking.

Colly F: Thanks so much for all this info. I recently started losing hair and am on the spironolactone 75mgs a day right now. I have slowly increased the amount as I was causing me dizziness so hopefully I'll be upping it to 100mgs soon. Great tips Courtney, think I'll stop using conditioner and see if that helps too.

Karen C: I’ve been putting Collagen powder in a shake everyday and taking Fish Oil everyday. After one year I have not only got back what I lost but now I have thick hair!!!!! Thanks for this video

EP: Speaking of journeys, would you consider doing one on hypothyroidism? What has worked? What doesn’t ? What you have learned through it all? Thank you!

Carola Blue: My mother's hair was fine and thin and mine is too, but even more so. There is hair loss behind my ears and a surgical procedure to remove a skin cancer from my scalp made things worse. There is thinning on top, also. My thyroid level has been tested three times and it's normal and I've seen two dermatologists. I've used men's Rogaine, Keranique, and rosemary oil to help stimulate hair follicles, but it is difficult to overcome androgenous alopecia and the treatments must be used forever. It could be time for wigs. ‍

Elena Pizzarello: Thank you for tackling a topic that women are embarrassed by. No one wants to talk about it, but alas, it is a real issue. My hair has always been thick, but as I've aged, it has thinned out a little. I do not know the plight of what is shared in this video, but there are definitely some things that women in menopause could use to their advantage. Thank you, Courtney, for being so open and honest about your issue and journey. I really commend you for going on camera and sharing what I'm sure must have been heart-wrenching for you. Honestly, no one would ever know because you are beautiful, and you just seem so happy. You seem bold and blessed! Thank you, Dominique, for year another great video! I'm sure many women are going to be jotting down all the things Courtney uses and running out to buy them!

Amy Shater: What a beautiful courageous lady - thank you Courtney for sharing! I agree wholeheartedly with Dominique - your natural hair even before the extensions looks wonderful - so happy the treatment is working for you - bless you!! ❤xoxo Amy

Rachel Schultz: I appreciate Courtney sharing her wisdom! I would love to see Courtney’s makeup tutorial !
