Luxy Hair

I'M adopting for humans hi everyone welcome back to the lexie hair channel. My name is eastiana in today's video. We are traveling back in time in hair history, we're going to be covering some retro hairstyles, which i'm really excited about, starting in the 40s and 50s to the 60s, 70s and 80s. If you're interested in seeing the 90s, we have a bunch of content for that with hair inspo from the 90s description box below you can check that out, but today we're going from the 40s to the 80s, which has some awesome hairstyles. So without further ado, let's get into it all right, we're doing old hollywood style waves a classic. So you want to start by adding some volume to your hair. So take a teaser brush like i'm doing here, spread some hairspray and grab sections where you can backcomb a bit to add some lift to your roots. Next, we want to create a very strong side, part line, i'm using the luxie hair, fine-tooth rat tail comb. That comes in the application kit to do this, then i'm going to use the comb to section away my hair, starting from my ear, we're going to separate this and twist it and clip it up and away do the same thing. On the other side, though, this piece will be less thick because of our strong side, part line once both front side sections are clipped out of the way. Let'S apply some heat protection, serum or spray, because we'll be using heat just brushing to evenly distribute the product. Then grab your curling iron or wand. This one is about 1.5 inches thick. I'M gon na grab one inch sections and curl each piece all in the same direction facing the curling wand down. This is key for this old hollywood. Glam. Look. You want all the curls to be going in the same direction once all the back pieces are curled. Let'S bring back the front side pieces, i'm going to clip away the back curls, so they don't get mixed up. You'Re going to use your rat tail comb to section out the bottom layer of your front piece and clip up the top layers just going to comb through it. So it's smooth and also apply heat protectant, then to curl these pieces hold the wand horizontally to the ground and wrap the hair towards you and under like this hold for about three to four seconds and then just slide the wand out and keep the curl intact. In your palm we're going to pin this up using a bobby, pin or thin clip, you should have a small loop sticking out of your head, like this. We'Re going to repeat this again with the next bottom layer again hold the wand horizontally and bring the hair towards you. As you wrap again pin the curl neatly to your head, then we're just going to repeat this on the other side of your head, make sure you're wrapping the hair around the barrel towards your face, not away from your face. If you drop the curl, when you remove the wand, just use two fingers to re-wrap the hair around and pin that curl in place. I have about five loops here, but, depending on how thick your hair is, you may have more or less let these loops cool down and spritz, with some hairspray to preserve their shape. In the meantime, you can do something else, or you can also gently brush out the back ways with a wide tooth comb to loosen them slightly and smooth. Then gently remove the clips or pins to unroll the curls, i'm going to use a boar bristle round brush because it's super gentle and won't ruin the curls or loosen them too much use a little hairspray. If you need and gently smooth out the front. Curls kind of brushing them towards your face from the back. You can also use your hands to slightly shape the front pieces and also gently comb, the top so there's no flyaways. I love how glam and classic this look is perfect for a formal occasion or when you feel like getting dressed up. Things have been different for me ever since i've never met anyone quite like her. No, i haven't anything else to do all right for the 60s. I love that retro swooped ends. Look fair warning. This look is a hundred percent better for shorter hairstyles and mine is definitely on the longer side, so it can be difficult because gravity kind of weighs it down, but here's how you can achieve the look. Nevertheless, after heat protecting my hair, i'm going to blow dry and straighten my strands with a round brush. You could do this part after a shower and your hair is a little bit damp still once it's dry and mainly smooth and straight i'll reapply. My heat protectant because we're going to be using a straightener next, i'm going to clip up everything except the bottom layer, so we can straighten in sections and all you have to do is straighten each strand. Then, when you get to the bottom, you just swoop up. It'S a pretty easy hairstyle to do, but, like i said, if you have long or thick or heavier hair, like me, gravity is just not on your side and this look really looks awesome on short hair. So if you have short hair, highly recommend trying this one out, you could then do a half a pat down or leave your hair down. But i'm going to add a cute velvet headband to go with the 60s vibe and i'm just going to run the straightener over once more to lock in the swooped ends. The 70s is really all about that. Shaggy messy laid back look and you see a lot of shaggy or curtain bangs. This is my luxy hair clip and bangs in chocolate brown. I got them custom cut at my hairdressers to fit my face, shape already. To put them on. You just need to create a strong and tidy middle part like this tuck. Your hair behind your ears also, then just slide the bottom clips tightly onto your hair until the ends reach the right height on your forehead, secure it in place with a top clip. Now it's time to style the bangs and i'm just going to comb them out, then i'm adding a spray. This is just an argan oil based braid to condition and dampen my hair, but you could also use water this way. When i blow dry the bangs, they will mold better to the direction i want them to go. You can use a round brush also to give them a little bit of lift and curl under once they're fully dry, i'm applying a bit of heat protectant and going in with my straightener to smooth them out. I'M using my luxy hair comb also to make this process easier, then a touch of hair oil to seal the ends is all you need and give them a shake and ruffle and voila. Okay. The 80s is all about big voluminous hair, and i mean big. My hair is not very naturally voluminous and i'm also going to adapt this hairstyle slightly to be a little bit more modern. So i'm going to dampen my hair a bit or you could do this after a shower and then it's a good idea to use a thickening spray, this one's from bumble and bumble, but many brands have their version of one i'm gon na spray it all over. Then using a hair dryer, it's all about aiming it at the roots for lift and letting the thickener spray do its magic. I'M also going to tease and back comb my roots, some more for even more volume, once you've successfully created a rat's nest time to gently brush over your teased hair to smooth again always use heat protectant before hot tools, and this option is, of course optional. But i'm going to be using my 16 inch luxie hair extensions, they're the same exact length as my natural hair, so they just add a ton of thickness. I'M also going to protect them from the heat clip up all your hair and leave down a layer. Then just clip in the first weft and go from there, i'm going to add some side pieces like this and now my hair just looks and feels so much thicker. So now we're going to use a curling wand or iron, and with this look, we're curling every section away from your face. It also helps to hold the barrel downwards to the ground, once you've curled all the pieces away from your face, i like to spray hairspray from below to make the curls stay, but the product won't weigh them down because i'm applying from below upwards then just take A wide tooth comb, i also love the luxia hair loop brush, because it's really gentle and i have my extensions in just brush out the curls, so they open up and smooth last night, i was dreaming out loud. Okay, that's it for today's video. If you guys liked it, please give it a big thumbs up. I would love to know in the comments below which hair decade was your favorite and which hairstyle of the past.
