Thank you for joining me on my micro loc journey. I appreciate you I hope you enjoy this video.

Hello, everyone welcome to my channel. My name is dj and i am about to give you my 21st month update um. I can't believe i am here. I hit actually uh 21 months two days ago on the 12th. Today is the 14th. I did retie my hair last week and excuse me, but i'm leaning, to get my um book so that i can stay on course and make this as short as possible because number one i'm doing this with my phone and number two um, i'm trying to make It as uh this video um as simple as possible. I don't have to keep doing a whole lot of edits so, but anyway um. I just want to uh. Do this real, quick um? What i did was, which changes first of all, yeah we're gon na jump right into this, but um. While i'm doing this, i'm going to go ahead and moisturize my hair, because i'm actually supposed to be going bowling tonight, a bowling league and i'm supposed to be in a another hour. So but i want to stop and get something to eat before i go in. So um, i'm gon na kill two birds with one stone. I'M gon na actually take down my hair and moisturize it. While i'm doing this because it's really dry, i haven't moisturized it probably since sunday, and this is thursday - it actually holds the moisture that i do put in it for a couple days. So that's not a bad thing, but um yeah, i kind of go in every two or three days with some uh moisture and some oils, so y'all look at this. First of all, this is the obvious. The change is that um i've seen so far. Um. Of course, the length, the density and uh the locks are looking more mature, so this is a little dry now, but um i'll give you a close-up view they're, looking more like locks, they're more, the the the maturity is more apparent now and um and people know That they're locks now you know so when they um start a discussion with me. They generally say uh. You know like i like you a lot. They might ask all day sister locks and then i'll. You know correct them and tell them no they're micro locks and there's a big difference between the two um. I think my locks are a little bit bigger than uh sister locks, but i've seen people that have sister lots, that um have a nice um thing. My eyelashes bugging me um. I have a that was because my lock was there. Uh have a um. Some of them are a little comparable to this size. So you know, i don't know, but it's not it's the it's not so much as the size of sister lots. It'S the installation process and you know, and plus sister lux is the um uh. What do you call it? I'M i'll put the name up what it is well, the um they have a certain way to install it in this in this uh patented. That'S what i was trying to say - and i just put in two strand twists when i installed mine um by the way this is a mixture of um aloe vera. I get this um from amazon. I don't know if you can see that and i mix it with my um rose water and this rose. Water has glycerin and i don't know if you can see that because it's the lightest so right so anyway, i go in and spray. My hair with this mixture, and then i go in with my oils, and i honestly haven't really done this since i think sunday i finished um my reti last week on friday. I started thursday evening after work did the back of my head with most of the back of my head. This is the tool i use when i'm re-tying and i use these when i got ta repair some locks. Sometimes you know you got ta go in and fix um uh stray hairs and stuff like that. So, first of all, i spray that in my hair and kind of massage it in and then um i go in with my oil - i'm not really going to show you the name of this oil. It was a oil that i had brought a while back, but i actually make my own mixture now so when i run out and it could be uh different oils sometimes, but most for the most part i do go in with amla oil, which i purchased off. Of amazon, vitamin e oil, the 1000 - i i i use eu i use is that how you say it yeah, i think i use um and um, then i'll put some um essential oils in usually peppermint tea, tree, um and rosemary, and then lavender or sometimes lemon For scent - and it just helps my scalp - it calms my scalp down and oh y'all. Let me tell you: it helps with growth too, but let me tell you this laughs at his last retire um and i'm jumping right in i'm, not even looking at my book that i'm supposed to be on on target with, and that's all in my book though, But this last week's high, and sometimes even the last couple retires i'm gon na say um the next couple days, the day after and the day after that, maybe two or three days later after retie, my head be itching so bad. It feel like it's on fire right here and it's not that the the locks, the reties are tight and you know it's like you know how, when you used to get i used to get box braids. I used to feel like that and be like. Oh, my god, and i used to always get this stuff uh made by cantu. It was like vinegar in it for your scalp and that used to um um help. I used to help a whole lot um, and so i think what i'm gon na do is try and find that again. So when i do my retards, i can use it, but it's not even that the locks be tight. It'S just that. I don't do much to my hair and way of styling, which that's going to change soon, because i think i've at a good length um. But so when i go to retie it, it's like if i'm not retiring, my hair every two to three months and then all of a sudden, i'm doing all this manipulation with the reties and everything my scalp was like wait, a minute we're not used to that. So then you know it's like it aggravates it or something because it'd be like. Oh, my gosh, sometimes i'd be like laying down in a bed and get up and be like. Oh my gosh, like pat my hair, like you, got a weave, but you know it takes me back to those times and it's like you just, oh, because i don't want to scratch it with my nails because i don't want to break any hair. So i'm up rubbing it i get up. I put some of that oil on it and massage it, but it's like i got ta find something that i can use because to try and help prevent it. I don't know, and maybe that um i can't remember the um actual name of the stuff. I know it's made by cantu, but it's got some vinegar in it and i know vinegar soothes the scalp. So that's the only thing i can think to do when i get ready to do my retires or right after i do my re-ties and um yeah. Look at this lip look at you girl. Okay, let's turn around. Let'S do this 360. again! I just did this retie last week and i hate talking with my back, because i'm hoping you guys hear me so i'm talking a little louder. Oh, i just did this last week and um yeah. I noticed a lot of lymph. This go around um. I can't say that it's taking me longer or not, i really didn't time it because i knew i was splitting it up in two days, so i didn't say like oh, i started this time stop this time. I just um put it in my head. I'M gon na do the back one day and then the rest of it, the next okay. So that's what it's looking like! Oh! Let me go this way. Give you a complete 360. okay. I hope i did that 360 good. Let me see. Let me go this way, see if it actually stayed in in the frame anyways what i had needed to do. What i noticed when i was doing that retie was one of my edge. Locks was actually really really thin and it was a no. I don't know if you go back to like my fifth or sixth month update. I had a lot a baby lock that i was starting um because i just had hair there all of a sudden, but it's a thinner. My the rest of my hair is 4c, but this i don't know what that is. I can't even tell you, but it's thinner than the rest of this. So when the lock started forming, i was like oh okay and it started growing fast. Look how long it is because it started off as a baby. Lock it stops about right here. I could i combined it with the lock behind it, because it was um not as thick as the rest of these. So, even though the lock was growing and maturing, it was kind of thin, and i felt eventually it was going to be too thin to uh sustain the weight. So i combined it with the lock behind it, and then i thought you know what i don't want to keep having to keep, because i just twisted it together. So then, i decided to take these little baby, beads and kind of sew it on is which i what i did so it'll stay like that until i get ready to re-tie it out, um cut the string out the uh and um the thread out and then Just take the beads off and then hopefully most of it will be stuck together. I did uh retie it at the root together so that um um at least the roots will start um staying together as one um is there anything else? I need to add um. Let me check my book because that's what i wrote it down for issues, my lock turn uh, that's what i was just talking about. Uh was kind of getting was thin, so i combined it um. I talked about the issues issues of itching after every time. Um some questions. I might i get sometimes because you know when you lock your head. A lot of people think you know next is coming up. Is the color and i've thought about it? So don't be surprised, but it won't be now it'll be after i'm hitting two years so and i've seen a different. You know. I know what color i have in mind, but we'll see how that turns out and um uh. What else do i miss? Another question? Was do i miss my natural hair uh, not at all uh? What i wish i would have done was with natural when i um, when i got locked when i first went natural, i actually went natural back in 2016, then i was natural until through 2020. I'M still natural but uh 2020 is when i started my locs, though um, but if i started back in 2016, i might even um put a clip in there a picture when i first cut. My head was like that short man. I just wish. I would have. Did it back then, but i'm okay? Now, because i'm happy where i'm at right now: um styling uh, again i'm getting ready to start styling because look i got volume down. I got length now and um, i'm just enjoying right this right here um! I don't have anything else to update you on in regards to my hair. I just stay tuned for my own two-year mark and you know i'm really looking forward to that. So um stick around for that that'll be in july, and i'm going to be somewhere very special when i do that ones, so um yeah be on the lookout for my uh two-year mark, which is july 12th. So i did two things. I don't know why. But it's gon na it's july 12th. So if y'all look out for that, it's gon na be fun um. I got a surprise um and um yeah, i'm looking forward to hit um uh two years. I want to see what my what my, where my hair is going to be at in the next couple of months. I mean i don't know if it's going to get be too much different than it is right now again, like i said, i'm happy with it right now. I love this look. My edges is a little rough right now, but i think i'm gon na gel it down and you know, do a little style or something for i'm gon na go bowling that bowl on thursday nights so yeah. I could do half up now. Half up half downs. Now look how cute that is come on. I love this and it's so easy. I don't even have to style it like when i had natural hair. That'S why i don't miss my natural hair, because i had natural hair and i just wanted to get up and go. I really really had to put some effort into um have gone out with a nice hairstyle and um again um. I love my natural hair. I have fun with it when i was putting in protective styles and everything, but i could never just rock my hair and um i've worn it out before, but of course it has to go up. I couldn't i couldn't when i come home from being out. I had to do something to my hair, otherwise i was going to wake up to a mess in the morning that i'd have to deal with now when you go out and you have a couple drinks and everything and you partying or whatever, when you come home, The last thing you want to have to do is your hair to go to bed um, even just throwing on a bonnet. As my hair was, i have 4c hair, i will i'll wake up and it's like a helmet and then i got ta uh get that detangled and it's just worked so now. That'S the i could put time into other things, and i don't have to worry about that. I come home now, honestly, i sleep on a silk pillowcase, so i don't use a um. I don't really put on a bonnet, which is probably i know people come for. You when you say you don't wear a bonnet, but i really don't because first of all i get hot and i start sweating bonnets. Make me hot anything on my hair makes me hot. I don't like to go. Have night sweats, so that's no! No for me. I got my fan on i'm on a silk pillowcase and i do not have any. That was another question too. I don't do not have any lint issues yet so cross my fingers and hope that that stays the case, but i don't have any i'm not dealing with any. You see the back now. Watch me lift up and y'all be like. Oh, you got lit back there, but no i don't. I don't really have any issues. No, i do brush my hair. I think that helps i do brush my hair and i do sleep on a pillow case. You know i know stuff flying around and the air can land on your locks and locks like to attract and then but i brush it so and then i wash my hair every two weeks so that helps me cut down on the uh uh possibility. I guess of the locks getting trapped, the link getting trapped in my locks, so um again, um yeah, that's about it and not too much else going on. I do love where i'm at right here and um. I look forward to the two-year mark and then beyond that. So if you have any questions, please drop them below um um. I know i she. I don't think i shared with you guys that my i locked my daughter's hair up back in october, so she's, probably about six months now and her hair is doing this thing. Is you know how six months look? I know my six months, my hair was really really uh fuzzy and i didn't mind, though, because i like the the bigness it gave me but um and then it starts to settle down around the eighth and ninth to a year month and then um. Then it starts to do to develop into what it's going to be like so right now i really really. I can't say it enough. Um love that i did. This is the best decision i've ever done to my hair and um. It'S it's. It'S very liberating honestly, because i can be me, i don't have to worry about covering my head up. You know that could be me and um, it's a it's, a game, changer, it's a game, changer and it's also a conversation starter, because people want to know. You know what you do, how you do it, who did it for you and when i tell them, i did it myself, they might they like you're right, i'm like yeah, okay guys, so i am going to wrap this up. Like i said, i got to get ready to go, get myself together, go bowling, i'm and i just threw this tank top on. So i can do this um 360 and you could actually see where my hair is hitting, because the shirt i'm wearing is dark. It'S black and i know it's harder to see like that, so i just said: well let me throw this tank top on real quick. So anyway, i'm going to go for this. Getting dressed go do something to my hair, real, quick and then i will um be out the door, but thank you guys for um, watching, don't forget to like comment and share and subscribe if you're not yet subscribed. If this is your first time here, i should have said this in the beginning, but if this is your first time here welcome and um, please um subscribe and hit that bell, so that you know when uh i wan na um get some more content out. Uh you'll be notified and again thank you very much for spending your time. Checking out this uh update all right. Thank you. As always, one love
