Salon Storytime: My Client Stole $500 From Me!!

Hey guys welcome back to my channel mia's maine. My name is mia. If this is your first time here and welcome to the lion's den we got a new lion's den. If you can't tell, i did move out of my mom's house, and i have my own humble abode with my husband. If you have not seen my life update catching up video, then you need to rewind and go check that out, because i got a lot of tea. Okay, but today today is not going to be a long video, but you know i do want to spill some tea. I want to give y'all a story. Time um. I don't really watch story time, videos other than on tick tock, but this one. I want to tell y'all about my first experience of somebody stealing 500 from me from the salon within my first year of doing hair. So, okay grab your popcorn and let's get started. So so, a couple of months ago i got this phone call waited this person called me. She was acting like she knew me, but i want to use a name - that's not like actually her name so that she don't, because i got time so we're just going to say her name is spongebob. I was at work one day and i was doing hair of course, and i got a phone call and um this person was like hey lia, oh my gosh. I'Ve been trying to get in with you for so long. I have been calling you i've been on your website. I can never get in, but i really need my hair done. First of all, let's pause because i answer my phone all the time and if i don't answer my phone, i'm always going to respond like you know, call you back so first live anyways, so she was like. I really need my hair done. I will come down there today, i'm from little rock, which is not far from memphis. It'S like three hours - maybe i'm not sure, but she was like i'm from little rock. I would drive down today so that i can come and get my hair done and i was like first of all, i was kind of took me back because this was as soon as i answered the phone. You didn't even give me an opportunity to say hey how you doing so. I was like okay um. Unfortunately, today i have no availability, because i don't do same-day appointments, it's just not happening, but i don't have any availability for today. What you see on my site is what i have so here comes my mentor in my ear, because we we work right next to each other and she was like get her in get her in. I can hear how passionate she is. I can hear that she really wants to come. Get her in wow, listen her! I was like okay, okay, calm down, so i was like um. Give me a second. Let me check my calendar and let me see where i can squeeze you in so this was on a monday and i don't work on mondays or wednesdays, but i was working that wednesday i was like. I can get you on wednesday at three o'clock. I will be squeezing you in i do have other clients, but i can get you in right there. She was like. Oh, my god, that's perfect um. I never get a day off, but i'm off that day. So that's just perfect. Okay, great i'll, see you on monday, um i'll facetime you so i mean on wednesday, i'm gon na facetime you so that i can see your hair. I got ta. Do a consultation figure out what you want, blah blah blah. So we get on facetime. She got a wig on rule number one. If you have a hair consultation with someone, no matter what it is, don't go with a protective style in your head, always go with all of your hair out so that they can see. We can see your hair, see, consistency throughout your hair, etc. I have had clients come in and their hair is not consistent. You might have. I have breakage up here, okay, so if i, if it's the only part that i'm showing you, i can't do nothing with that, but the whole rest of my hair is healthy. Basically, you know i just need to see it all. So i was like i'm sorry. I can't do your consultation with your extensions in, but can you facetime me later or you know, text me we'll set up another time to get you together? Oh, yes, i'm so sorry i'll! Take it out today and i'll call you, okay, great she's. Facetiming me in the middle of the night, all these different times of the day and i'm like i'm gon na climb here right now. Um. Can i call you back because i'm busy when you're in my chair, you getting all my attention? Okay, that's just the way. It is that's! That'S what i believe in. We eventually have our face time talk um. She is in a hospital room with her patient because she's a nurse and she's talking to me, while she should be assisting this patient. But it's okay. You know, consultations, don't take, but like three minutes anyways sometimes longer so we are doing the consultation she's showing me her hair, i'm like okay, great everything's good. So then it's time for her actual appointment that morning, she's blowing my phone up. It'S seven o'clock in the morning she's like i'm just trying to catch you before you actually start working, because you always busy what why did i answer the phone? I don't know, but ever since then i never do anymore that early she was like. I wanted to catch you before. You actually went to work because i want you to color my hair and all this stuff now you're asking me to add on color at the very last minute and your appointment is today. Okay, me being nice, i was like. Okay, that's fine! I let her know the price she was like. Okay, great i'll, see you then she comes in. She doesn't have a mask on. I was like hey. Do you mind putting the mask on oh y'all, like that y'all one of them y'all need a mask. Y'All scared, the energy's off already. Once my energy goes down, it's just hard to get it back up. She was like you'll skip. Okay, this is before the vaccine was like available to everybody. This is before all of it, so i was just like you know we're just following protocol we've had the health department come in they're checking for it, so we just want to make sure that we're in compliance - and you do need to wear your mask. So she puts her mask on, and so you know i do her hair and i have other clients - and i installed all of her extensions flawlessly, but the last step that i had to do was to style it. So it's like big and just in there right now, there's no style. I haven't cut it to customize it to fit her. I haven't done anything it's just in her hair, so i was like okay. This is my stopping point to finish my other client that i got under the dryer, so i was like okay, i'm gon na move you to this chair um. We had two chairs open. I said you can sit in either one of those chairs. I'M gon na quickly press her out and then i'll be right back with you. Why i got ta wait why you uh double book yourself? Why you do this and i was like well ma'am. I did explain to you that i did have other clients and they did have appointments first and i was working you in so i do have to you know it's not gon na. Take me long. I just have to press her out and then i'll be right. Back with you, oh well, can i go outside and talk to my husband yeah, that's fine! I don't mind in my gut. Something didn't feel right, so i took her k-pop and she stepped outside and she could see her by the door for a minute and all that and then she, like, i guess, went to her car and so i finished my client and i looked at my mentor And i was like: did she leave? She was like? I don't know, i don't think so and i was like okay, so i went outside well. I tried to call her to come back in nothing straight to voicemail, said. Okay, then i tried to call her again and just going straight to voicemail i go outside and i'm looking, i walked all through. We just have like a strip and then another strip on the side of the building. So i walked through and i was like. I don't see her i'm trying to let her know she can come back in so i'll, go back inside and she's my my co-worker jess she's, my mentor but she's looking at me and she was like no and i said yeah she was like she did not Leave, i said yes, she did, she said, call her. I said i can't she blocked me, and so she was like color on my phone, so we call her on her phone. Then she blocks that number. What so i can't do anything, but laugh, i'm not upset or anything i'm mad. I was just like in disbelief that it was happening. There goes my workflow can't catch a break even on my day off. Give me a second guys anyways, so she blocked both of us. We couldn't get in touch with her at all, and we was just like what the heck like this can't be. Real life like i was mad but, like i wasn't gon na cry because i just couldn't usually i'm a crier, i'm emotional, i get upset, but i was laughing. I was like you know what, because you're, not stealing from me, you stealing from him and when you steal from him he gon na get you better than i can so i ain't worried about it. You'Re gon na reap what you sow. Do what you got ta. Do you needed it more than i did you look a fool because you ain't got your hair done it's just in so, okay bye, my co-workers was like no we're not going for this. Their mom has a way to do background checks on people. She is our salon manager so, but she has a way of doing background checks on people and she did a background check. This lady has done this before this is not her first time so she's a convict, she's a she's, a con artist. At this point, this is what she does. This is her. This is her job. Okay, but you're. A nurse don't play. Don'T do you just you just shouldn't do that, so they were like. We need to press charges all this stuff, so their mom calls her and left the voicemail. She was like she explained who she was. She explained that she knew what was going on. She had 24 hours to reach back out to us or we're gon na have to get the law enforcement involved. 24 hours came nothing. We called the police to file a police report because it was a theft of services. The only reason i know this is because my brother and my dad are both police officers for the city, so i can ask them things and they'll explain it to me, so it was a theft of services yeah. So we never heard back from her. The police said that they couldn't do anything because she was in arkansas basically, and the lady got smart with me on the phone because she was like well what's her social security number ma'am? How? How do you expect me to know this information? You will know it before i do, but why would you expect a civilian, a normal average civilian to know another normal average civilian social security number? What no so i got really upset with that, but it was like. I didn't care about the money. I didn't care about any of that. It was just the principle of everything we explained to them. How much it was. It was like it was a 500 service total. I didn't get one penny from her, so a lot of people were like. Why didn't you get a deposit? Well, i booked her appointment for her. She didn't go through my site, so she wasn't prompted to do a deposit and then i just knew she was going to show up because of the passion that she really wanted to get in. My chair and then i didn't, expect her to walk out on me and go back to arkansas with the micro links in her hair. So that is why, but i've learned from my mistakes - and i just took it as a learning experience and now i don't care if you come in on the phone. Here'S on my phone number. You need to send me your deposit, i'm not playing those games anymore. Okay, but this this situation did mold me as a stylist. It has helped me grow. It'S helped me be more stern with my policies and put my foot down, because a lot of people don't care about your time. They don't care about anything. She doesn't care so fast forward. Two months later i was like, i wonder what spongebob is doing and my co-worker was like: let's call her, so she calls her and she answered the phone. She was like who's this and she was like hey, i'm looking for a spongebob and she was like this ain't spongebob, this patrick and hung up the phone, so it was like weird, so she tried to call her back. She answered she's, like i thought you said, patrick this spongebob see you going back and forth you a liar. You didn't got caught up in your own life, so she was like well, i'm just reaching out to make sure everything was okay. I know that you had an incident with one of my stylists here and you know you stole from her. You didn't pay her blase and she was like going off. Y'All was on speaker phone, i didn't say anything, but i was in the room listening. She was like that all of it that was a long beat she was like. She didn't even do my hair, she didn't even render the service and she was like well, did you leave a micro links in your head? She was like no, she said so. You didn't leave with my girl into your head. Yes, i did you want the hair back, we was like. No, we don't want it. She said good, it's in the garbage. Okay, so why did you she was just lying on the phone? She was saying that i was a terrible person. I treated her so bad. I didn't do anything um and all this stuff and if you've ever come to get a service by me or if you ever do, i do my best to be super, energetic and positive. Like i am on my channel, this is me. This is how i am in real life. I talk to everybody. I make you feel welcome. I offer you, snacks drinks, wine. Whatever it is, you want. I'M i'm gon na offer it to you. Unless i forget. Okay, i'm human - i do forget, but this particular day. I know that i was on my p's and q's, and i know that i did not disrespect this lady. I did not do anything wrong. I i was good. I was clear she was just like you know lying on me and it was just funny because jess was there. She witnessed the entire thing, so she she knew that what she was saying was bs so anyways. She was like. Why are still calling me about something that happened two months ago? Y'All must want some money. Y'All need the money, no we're good. I promise you. The lord, has blessed me 10 times over. Congratulations to you. You look silly so but yeah. You know that um was just one of the crazy experiences i've had my co-workers said they have never experienced anything like that ever in their life, and i was the first. So we all learned from the situation, but she knows she can't come back and if she album walking this one huh it's outside period, i'm just playing. No i'm literally kidding i'm kidding, i'm an angel. I wouldn't dare i'm playing y'all for real. No, i don't care about the situation. Of course i learned from it, but, like i said god don't get hurt before i can so missing his in his hands. A lot of people tell me what i should have did what i could have did and all this stuff, but you stop giving your opinion if you're, not in a situation. How was i supposed to know that she was gon na go outside get in her car and go back to little rock lesson of the day? Keep your opinions to yourself and don't trust everybody, but that's really all that i have for this. Video, like i said it's gon na be short and sweet. I just have to tell y'all that it ain't all glitz and glam in this salon. Life people get over on you, people will abuse and use you for your talent and for your services, but it's up to you to put your foot down and demand respect, because this is your business and you don't have to service everybody.
