Hello, everyone welcome back to my channel, so today I am going to be sharing with you all how I found my hair when I work out. So I have been saying this question a lot lately in my recent vlogs, where I've been showing me working out and I keep getting the same questions like how do you keep your hair looking so good when you work out so much, do you wrap it because You put in a ponytail all the time like what does your hair stylists do like? I just keep getting all these questions around my hair, which is common here on my channel. I always get questions about my hair, so today, I'm literally on my way to the gym. I got my hair done yesterday, so I thought I would come on and just share really quick. What I do is super simple. It'S not complicated at all, and I do have some little notes here. I do get asked a lot of questions about like what products does my hairstylist use and products that I use and things of that nature so yeah. This is going to be a really quick video, but it is one that I feel is very necessary because we are going into the new year and I know a lot of you are eager to get in the gym and one of the biggest things that kind Of holds us back or keeps us from working out as black women is our hair, and I know that is the biggest excuse for a lot of us is oh, no, I don't want to get my hair messed up. My hair is gon na get sweated out and blah blah blah, and that is the case and you know, depending on you and how hard you're working out - and you know how much you sweat, but these are just the things that I do that work. For my hair and how I kind of preserve my hair styles while working out - and I work out five to six days a week - sometimes seven, but I will give you some tips on what I do. You know in between those days where my hair is fresh. So that I'm not missing workouts, but I'm still gon na work out him, but I'm not as hard so so yeah. So this is my hair. I just unwrapped it for you guys, so you could just see how it looks after the first day that it has been done is what it looks like on day 2. So I'm just gon na be completely honest with you guys. I owe my hair care everything to my stylist. I do get my hair done every two weeks and she does an amazing job of getting my natural hair straight to the point where you took. You really would think that I have a relaxer, but I don't so. She she does a really good job of getting my hair extremely clean. She gets it really straight and she does it in ways that keeps my hair very healthy, so she definitely promotes healthy hair. So that's for stuff find your stylist that specializes in natural hair and it's all about healthy hair - I don't wear weaves or wigs or I don't braid up my hair. I don't do any of that. I literally this is just all my natural hair and that's it so. Yes, I all this to my stylist, because she is the best at what she does. I do absolutely nothing to my hair but wrap it. That'S it. I don't put any products in it. I don't put any curling irons and it I don't even own any flat, irons, curling, irons or anything. I use perm rods and flexi rods. I do have a video where I'll share with you guys here, where I show you how I wrap my hair and ways that I kind of bring my curls back when they just gone completely flat. But yes, so first things first products. The first question that I get a lot is: what products does my hairstylist use? She uses all design essentials. She is a design essentials ambassador and the teacher, and she does all these like classes and stuff. So she is diehard fan of design Central's. All the products that she uses in my hair are from design essentials. The next thing I get keratin treatments once a month. Keratin treatments basically help keep my hair straight longer. I will say I do have extremely extremely thick hair, so my hair holds heat very well, which is another reason why my curls last so much longer, because my hair just holds heat really well, and I just do to me just having thick hair. I'Ve had thick hair all my life and that's just how it's been it's kind of like a blessing and a curse guys have asked me like how do you keep your curls looking good for so many days? And it's because one I have really thick hair and two. I have layers, so you don't have to go crazy with the layers. You could just do some light layers at the top if you want, but you want to have some type of shape in your hair. So that the curls one look good and they kind of you know hold the curl a little bit better other products. I use perm rods, flexi rods, like I said, I'll link that video for you guys, where I'll show you how I wrap my hair. So here's another thing before I get my hair done, there's a couple things that I do. I make sure that I watch all of my hair tools, so my comb, my paddle brush, I wash these in hot water and soap right before I get my hair done. I wash my mesh wraps, I wash my hair scarf. This is a satin black scarf. I got this from the beauty supply store. You guys asked me before where I got this from, I just got it from a little beauty. Supply store, that's actually next door. To my hair, the hair salon that I go to any low like hood hair supply store, you can find a scarf and I like this one because it's huge it's a big square one. So it covers all of my hair really good, and then I wash my work out bald caps. So these are the dry fit Nike caps and I get these from TJ, Maxx and Marshalls in the men's department. You can't find them in the women's the winners. They have hats like this, but they're cotton, and they just I don't know I just don't like them, but these are the Nike dry-fit and i absolutely love these caps. These are the two that I rotate. You know in the fall and winter just cuz, the colors. Most of my workout clothes are black and gray, so these work out well, but yes get you a good dry fit cap and I promise you it you'll. Thank me just trust me, so, yes, I find these very affordable. You can get them for like 10 12 bucks, I think, but very affordable. So I watch these right before I get my hair done so yeah. So all of my hair tools and all of my scarves and hats, all of that stuff is washed. Before I get my hair done, something else that I do before I get my hair done. Is I work out really hard so the day before and the day of my hair appointments, I go hard in the gym like the hardest workout I can do. I do it I meet up with my trainer and we go hard. I run like extra like I just go really hard in the gym two days before my hair is my hair appointment. The reason why I go so hard before I get my hair done is because, after that, all my workouts are going to be just very minimal and not a whole lot. It'S not gon na be as intense so the day that I get my hair done. I go to the gym so like yesterday I went to the gym in the morning. My hair appointment was at 12, so I went to the gym right after I dropped. My son off at school got a really good nice run in the day before that I met with my trainer and got a nice training session in so so now. Here we are the day after my hair appointment and I'm just gon na do some light cardio at the gym today. That'S it tomorrow. I may just do like a light. 15 minute strength, training with just some weights and then do a 15 minute walk, but I at least like to get 30 to 40 minutes of exercise every single day and that's my goal yeah. So that's pretty much the process around, like my workout routine, dealing with my hair so because I like for my hair to still be fresh at least the first week. I just don't go as hard in the gym and I just go extremely hard. All the days leading up to my hair appointment, I know it's a lot and there is a method to this trust me. I'Ve had to kind of to wrap my head around this whole process with me because it's like I don't want to not work out because of my hair. So what can I do to still be able to work out and my hair still look good. So this is what I do. There are two things that I do. I wrap my hair like the first week after my hair appointment and then the second week. I just throw it in a ponytail. It'S gon na speed this up. Just for the sake of this video and I'm gon na go ahead and just wrap my hair, for you guys now, alright guys so now that my hair is wrapped, I'm just gon na take my two satin and mesh hair wraps just to keep it all in Place just like that, so I'll put the first one on and then I always turn it to the back so that the velcro part is in the back and not in the front. And then I'm just going to add the second one here and I like the V's because they're mesh, so your hair can still breathe. So that's it. I just wrap the mesh wraps around just put that one in the back too just to keep my hair secure. I do not wear a scarf to the gym. I just wear my ball caps, so I'm just going yeah that so I'm just gon na throw on my ball cap here and it does have a Velcro like closure in the back. So it's velcro, so you can adjust it but yeah. This is it. This is literally all I do I'll turn it around. So you can see the back so yeah. I go get my work out here after you've done your work out. You may have sweated a little bit. Maybe a lot here is what you need to know. This is like viikii, do not unwrap your hair while it is still wet or damp, keep your hair wrapped. So if I'm not running errands after the gym - and this is why I don't wear a scarf to the gym - because sometimes I'm running errands after the gym - so I don't like that's just unacceptable to be out in public with a scarf. I'M sorry, if you do that, that's you bonnets and scarfs and public just don't work for me, so I prefer just keeping my cap on so if I'm going to the grocery store, if I am going to do some type of volunteer work at my son's school, If I'm running the target whatever it is, I leave my cap on until I get home once I get home, I take the cap off and your hair should still be wrapped. You may need to like adjust your little wraps a little bit, but your hair should still be wrapped just fine. It may be a little damp, don't fret so there's one or two things you can do. You can just take your hat off. Leave your wraps on and let your hair just dry. Naturally, you can do that or if it's the end of the day so like when I do my workouts in the evenings, I will wrap my hair for the night so once my hair is wrapped after the gym, I throw on my scarf, and I just put It in a triangle shape, and there you have it your hair is wrapped, don't touch it leave it again if you're working out in the evenings and your hair is wrapped, just wrap it up with your scarf for the night and unwrap it tomorrow. If it's in the middle of the day, just let it air dry naturally and then unwrap it, I promise you. This is the biggest key for me. I have to keep my hair wrapped after the gym. I cannot just come home and just unwrap it and it's damp or whatever. I can't do that. I have to leave it wrapped. So, yes, highly recommend keeping your hair wrapped. If you don't it's it's, this is all just gon na be pointless. It'S gon na be for nothing once your hair is dry. Take your wraps off and what I do is I do not go right in with my comb. I just let it you know just fall and then I'll wrap it. So now I'm going to show you guys how I wear it when I'm just throwing it up in a ponytail and I'm not wrapping it. So I'm just gon na pull it back in a ponytail and the only thing that I use is just a scrunchie. I prefer using scrunchies now over just the regular hair ties because they don't leave an indent in my hair. The scrunchies just keep it loose and I like a loose ponytail because, while I'm not wrapping it, I still want to be able to maintain my hair style without it having any like indents in it. So just gon na pull it back like this, not too tight. Just rubbing my running my fingers through it nice and lightly, and then I'm just going to put the scrunchie on and I'm just gon na wrap it around twice and just let it be loose, then I'm gon na go back in with you can straighten out your Edges, if you want, but then I'm just gon na go back in with my same wrap, wrap it turn it to the back and for this one I only use this one wrap. I don't use the other one, because it's just not necessary. I'M really just trying at this point and at this stage on my hair, I'm just wanting to just keep these edges laid. You know I'm trying to keep these from kinking up, I'm not really too focused on the roots here, because you know it is what it is. My curls are still good. So I'm fine with that and I'm not a person that needs my hair to be bone straight all the time. I just need my initial, like hair, like once I get my hair done. I need the initial hairstyle to be. You know straighten so that way when the roots start to you know tighten up it's not so bad, but the main thing is just keeping those the edges down. So then, once you do that just put this behind my ear just take your cap and I put the ponytail through the hole back here because I believe that's what it's for and same rules apply workout I'll show you guys so yeah. I work out leave my hat on with a wrap from run any errands there today, if it's night, I just take off the cap and if I'm going to keep my hair in a ponytail same concept. I leave this on and I just leave this piece out where my ponytail is. I just leave that out and then once my hair is completely dry, take this off take off the wrap, pull out the ponytail holder and just give it a little shake, and that is it are a child. That'S literally all I do like not even exaggerating. That'S all I do to my hair when I work out. If you do want to wear a scarf to the gym, that's fine! You can do that, especially like if you workout at home. You can just leave your scarf on like when I do at home workouts. I just leave my scarf on. I just personally don't like going out in public in a scarf, but you can definitely work out in your scarf and leaving your hair wrapped, making sure that your hair is completely dry before you unwrap it. That is the key. So I think I answered all of the questions if you guys have any further questions or comments just list them below. I hope you guys enjoy watching and I will catch you in the next one. Bye

Ellie: Yes I like to workout 5 times a week and straighten my natural hair. I like to use a lululemon dry headband to keep my edges from touching any perspiration. It actually works unlike the cheaper $3-$5 headbands I would get on Amazon. And for my hair, I keep it twisted up with a big round plastic clip. So much better than fabric scrunchies which can trap moisture, and I never leave my hair down or even in a pony tail down my back since my back perspires. And when I leave the gym I don't take my hair down until I'm home and cooled off, then hit the roots with some warm air on the blow dryer just to dry out any hidden moisture

Britt: Yes! No to scarfs and bonnets in public lol. Thank you for doing this video, I decided a long time ago to not let my hair dictate what activities I choose to do. It is a struggle but I still make it happen I’m a curly natural

Courtney M.: Great tip: keep your hair wrapped while its still wet. I needed this!

Anakiya Creates: Recently straightened my hair for the first time in 10 years. I was scared to work out so I searched and saw this video first. I tried this method. Bought two of those wraps and a wig cap, worked out at night, let it dry all night and unwrapped it this morning and my hair is still intact, roots still pressed and everything. Thank you for sharing! Worked like a charm.

Adwanah Bargio: Thank you so much for this video even a year later! I decided to intensify my workouts but the first thing I thought was.. my blowouts won’t last with more sweat thanks now I know to get Keratin treatments once a month! I am just like you, I don’t do wigs/weaves and barely braids so this is my only option.

Danielle Gineen: Thank you for this video! Thoroughly enjoyed it, this is my first silk press as an adult 100% with you on the public bonnet/scarf situation lol yeah no.

Mildred Thermidor: I just started working out two weeks ago and also have a relaxer. I was getting frustrated with the way my hair looked post workout that I was going to cut down on my exercise. I’m happy I found your video and will definitely be incorporating these tips.

E Clark: I really would like to wear my natural hair straight, but with working out its hard. I've been looking for tips and tricks. Thanks for sharing!!

Stiletto Shay: Ah! So that's what I'll need to incorporate during the spring and summer months--keratin treatments. I'm on schedule with you for the most part during the fall and winter months, but I keep my hair braided and under wigs in the spring/summer because it'd revert back in less than 7 days. Thanks for the major key, Babes! <3

Miss Kyra: I've thought about starting my straight hair natural journey but I was worried about the working out. You have now convinced me and I will be starting this month!!! I'm so excited!!!

Teasha Stewart: But Sis., I sweat like a grown man when I work-out. ‍♀️

Icyalite G: Thank you for the tips, I wondered how your edges would stay straight while working out consistently but I never asked. I’m natural as well but my edges shrink really bad. I’m going to incorporate these tips and hopefully they’ll work for me. Merry Christmas

Mrs: Well detailed AND visual. Thank you so much. I'm definitely going to follow all that you've shared. Much appreciated!!

Pieces of Kara: Also, if anyone needs satin lined protection, Curl Cap has great hats and Grace Eleyae has beanies. Both black owned

Tisha Tenacious: Merry Xmas! This video is very helpful Sad that many women of color don't workout because of their hair BUT like you and the suggestions you gave, we can do it it's finding a method that works...like always...thanks for sharing

Desiree Jennings: It’s the no scarf and bonnets in public for me!! I CAN’T and WON’T do it!! YES to letting your hair dry after a workout!! My silk press last pretty long too, up until my hair starts snowing … I typically pin curl because wrapping has never worked for me and my thick hair.

Wynett Guy: These are some great tips. I love DE products. I actually order them at home as well. Been the biggest help when washing and maintaining my hair at home. ❤️

Jacquata Pullen: When I was an active runner this was my routine. Yes, allowing your hair to dry is KEY and I wrap mine more loser to preserve my curls for those first couple runs but when it’s up in a ponytail.....I would go hard with my run. I do continue to wrap my hair every night even when it’s been in a ponytail. But unlike you...my hair is relaxed because my beautician will not allow me to go natural. My hair is super duper thick and it takes a lot of time with a fresh relaxer.

Keeping Up With Livi: I’m going to try this. First time getting a slim press in years. I’m a sweater and cardio lover. I’m trying on my next off day.

ElleD0308: Nike hats do SUCH a great job of keeping the hair by your scalp flat/straight while you're working out! You'd never know that they'd work so well, but they're a blessing

Britney Renèe: This was super helpful and an obvious solution that I should’ve thought about already lol

V Kitoko: Amazing. PERIOD!!!! I've recently decided to become a heat trained natural and you're giving me a lot of hope, lol! You're hair is very nice + healthy!

Whitakers Way: Thanks for sharing very informative I go hard in the gym and I was wondering the same thing great tips I will keep that in mind

ms.chelle: Love the idea to wear a cap over your wrap to workout. Thanks for sharing.

njp 26: Hey! Great hair tips! I'm natural as well..and currently wearing it straight since the weather is cooler in TX. I am so intrigued by this keratin treatment.. would love to hear more! I wore a ponytail last night but I didn't have the other items you mentioned and can see the results in my edges lol will head to Sally's ❤️ P.S. I share your sentiments on public scarf and bonnet sightings womp womp womp!

C. Shante: Great tips!!!! I screamed about the scarf and bonnets comment. It’s so true. I have a student that comes to school with one on and I die inside every single time I see her with it! I’m still waiting patiently on that capsule wardrobe video, I know it’s coming because you keep your word. I have told my friends that you are like the woman I aspire to be so I’m always sharing your video. Merry Christmas to you and Sefton!

Kangoo Cutee: Back again for the 3rd or 4th time. Love the tips and tricks and I needed to get the name of the ball caps. Since I have been getting dogged in the comments for wearing my scarf LOL!! When you know better, do better! Thanks Shanna

Kangoo Cutee: Girl i did think you have a relaxer. Cudos to ur stylist. You r right that is my biggest issue with working out on a regular basis. Thank you so much for the great tips!! Loved them

Really Cool Introvert: Agree about the bonnets but I am more open on the scarfs because I do see women going through medical treatments and those who have other issues wearing scarfs while working out. Really good tips and very pretty hair!

Tarnisher Mack: I’m relaxed I don’t care for the “natural” look for myself. My hair is abnormally thick and course & I’m tender headed to boot! Lol my hair was never a deterrent for not going to the gym though. These are great simple tips!!! And yes scarves and bonnets in public are repulsive & trifling. TFS!!!

Tiara T: This information was amazing! Thank you!

LiqueGloss London: Thank you for smiling so much in this video, Have a great day!

Shawntina: Your hair stylist does a great job with your hair but you also do an amazing job maintaining your healthy hair!

Vanecia Miller Hidalgo: I don’t mind bonnets and scarfs in public. ( I feel like, they were originally made for public wear, and was made to seem taboo for yet another reason to shame black women and deem them “ghetto”) my mother and older sister however feel the same way you and didnt allow me to publicly wear them so now it’s ingrained in me lol I will instead wear it as a head wrap or wear some type of turban, but now I will invest in more baseball caps, thank you!

Angie Mitchell: Hello , I am new to your channel . Thank you for sharing . I found your video to be very helpful and I will try your techniques. Looking forward to workouts again.

SaDohl Jones: I was searching for this video and couldn’t find it lol. Thanks for sharing. I only press my hair 1-2x a year. I wear protective styles the rest of the year because I workout 5-6x a week as well. And I’m not willing to sacrifice my workouts or my hair

Sharon C: Such a beautiful and healthy hair thanks for sharing and merry Christmas

Luv2shop: Thanks for sharing these tips! I will try them out since I’m going back to the gym.

Shakira Hightower: Really beautiful hair!

Annie Similton: Thanks for the tips.. Merry Christmas to you and your family❤

Kisthebest: The dry fit hats are a great suggestion. I'll have to experiment with this.

ncA&Tstate: Do you spray any hair refresher/hair perfume to keep it from smelling sweaty between salon visits? Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Jessica Leslie: so so good! Thanks a lot for the tips

Shay Corry: Thank you for the information… My only question is even when you work out and use sweat, aren’t your roots going to swell up because of the sweat? Is there any way around that?

Sharlene Lockett: Yes bonnets and scarves are UNACCEPTABLE in public. Great tip about leaving it wrapped until it dries, that is where I make my mistake, unwrapping it too soon. Thank you.

Leah Latrice: I can’t stand a bonnet & scarf in public either lol thanks for all the tips❤️

Leoness Butterfly: Nvm I got it Perm rods, dri fit cap men's section, don't go as hard, mesh wraps, dri fit scarf and hat. Keep hair wrapped or tucked until it dries, let it air dry (blow dry) or wrap it up, let hair fall after wrap, ponytail with scrunchie and wrap mesh around it. Workout in evening is easier,

Terra Barrs: Girl say it again...scarfs and bonnets in public is unacceptable

Brannygiz: Great Video! Love the hair

sunnysideup: I agree with you about the scarfs and bonnets it really gets under my skin, I really can’t stand seeing that. Thank you for your tips, I’m going to pick up a dri fit Nike cap and some of those hair wraps.

Lexia Jones: Very helpful! Thank you

El Sol: Just ordered a wrap and hat cus I’m looking bustedddd right now after today’s workout and I just got my hair done yesterday!!!!‍

Nayaa O: Thanks for the tips just bought some dry fit hats x

Love conquers all: I love your hair and video. Beautiful healthy hair.

Donna M: Thank you for this video ‍♀️

KENYA KING: Thanks for the tips! Definitely a huge reason why don't go to the gym! I live in an area where there are not a lot of stylist for black women. can you talk about the keratin treatment a little more? Im curious to know how it works and what it does for natural textures!

Ms Robin 2u: Thanks for the tips....new subbie...love your channel ❤️

Stacey Scott: Hi. Thanks for the info. Where did you get the velcro and mesh wraps?

Jennifer N: Do you ever use the dry shampoo or sit under the dryer a bit to dry under wraps? If so, what heat do you recommend?

Beck A: Your hair is gorgeous by the way!!!

Ari: So damn gorgeous!

Dancin' in the Midwest!: I sweat in the back of my head which shortens my hair dramatically. How can I handle it?

Marie D: I just purchased a dri fit hat based on your suggestion. LOL...I live near the VA/DC/MD area. Bonnets in public are a common theme. Kindof like the shower caps back in the day with gherri curls. I dont mind seeing ladies wearing scarfs in public. They could be wearing it for various reasons (i.e chemotherapy, religion, alopecia, etc.) and especially if its a nice color or pattern. Gucci and YSL make lovely silk scarves. The way you tie your black scarf looks very chic. I just really hate seeing bonnets in public.

Kari Vidal: at the beauty salon and i’m watching this will try it tomorrow am.

B Pink: Thank you for this video!

Ashley.D: Love your video!! Thanks

Princessme: Can you talk more about keratin treatments

Lana: When I wore my hair longer I use to wrap it and eventually your hair just kind of conform to the wrap per se, your hair is like it knows it's routine lol.

Sissy Esters: All that hair in that hat. I will try it. Tfs

Mysti Jones: Your hair is gorgeous!!

Kristina Littlejohn: Will this work if humidity has gotten to the hair? I got my first silk press yesterday and the humidity ruined it

Simply Julie: Your hair is lovely. Do you get is straightened every two weeks?

Adasia Raimey: I clicked cus I was like okay her hair is beautifullllll

SnobGirl_Life: Merry Christmas to you and Sefton

Darlene W: Your hair is beautiful!! Do you use a black rinse on your hair?

Titus2Chic: To confirm, you are getting keratin treatments once a month? Asking because I've heard about keratin treatments used every 3 - 6 months so I'm curious about getting them monthly.

Tracey Lennon: I KNEW IT!!! Design Essentials products are the BEST!!

Lena SI: Watched the whole video!

Dela Criss: Lol we have three girls and no bonnets in public is one of our top rules lol
